“You don’t need talent to be strong, you need heart. You need drive to achieve your goals.”
Name: Fizz
Alias: Soda Pop, Fuzz, Z
Species: Saiyan
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Appearance:
Fizz stands at a slightly above average height for his age, at 5’10. He doesn't find it too out of the ordinary, but his mom makes sure she mentions it whenever she gets the chance, which Fizz dreads. He has a naturally muscular build, and a slightly darkened skin tone to match. Any educated individual can tell that he's of Saiyan heritage. His eyes and hair are both a chocolate-y brown color, making his face look rather plain appearance. Fizz’s hair sits as a mess upon his head, resembling a constant bedhead. His usual attire consists of dark jeans or workout pants, light colored sneakers, and an elbow jacket without an undershirt. His outfits vary, but reds and light colors are almost always a constant.
History:
Some odd years ago, two Saiyans fled Planet Vegeta abruptly, hoping to get away from the issuing issues that plagued the planet. They found their way to Planet Earth, and took up residence in a capsule house in the Southern Islands. There, they lived as ‘Earthlings’ for years. A few years ago, the two Saiyans, named Lett and Uz, had a son. Wanting to pass him off as an Earthling, he was named Fizz and had his tail removed at a young age.
“Fizz is a little... different. I'm sure you two know that.”
The woman smiled slightly and placed her palm on her cheek to ensure sincerity. It was Mrs. Mallow, a school teacher at Tropic Elementary, a school that bordered a coastline in the Southern Islands. The man sitting across from her ran his hand through his dark beard and chuckled.
“Yes, of course, we know he’s different. But isn't that what you want in people, individuality?” Uz chuckled, laugh lines fully visible in his face. His wife sat next to him, her hands placed firmly in her lap.
“Why yes, Mr. Uz. Individuality is fantastic, but I wouldn't call strength a character trait. We’re barely getting by with the zeni the school budget has, and I can't continue to replace desks, chairs, and whatever else Fizz breaks on ‘accident.’ I've given you plenty of chances, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to take Fizz out of this school.”
Uz’s wife stayed still, her smile still evident on her face, Mrs. Mallow could see through it. She could tell that the family had been through this before.
“Mrs. Mallow, we understand how stressful it must be to work with Fizz, but there aren't any other schools that we can send him to here on the island. Please, we're begging you, let him stay.”
Mrs. Mallow was silent. The green hair that framed her face gently moved when a draft went by her. She took off her glasses.
“Mrs. Lett, I really do care for Fizz, he's one of my favorite students, but it's not just the damages. He's starting to scare the other children. A boy that strong just..” She fixed her glasses back on her face and adjusted her hair.
“Just isn't human. I'm sorry. Fizz has to go.”
The color drained from Lett’s face. She sat back in her chair and swallowed. She quickly stood up and walked to the chair that exited the classroom.
“We understand, Mrs. Mallow. For what it's worth, I know Fizz liked you.” Uz strode from his chair and made his way to the door. Fizz rose from his blocks on the corner of the room and trotted to the door with his parents. He turned to look back and smiled.
“See ya next week, Mrs. Mallow!” He shouted, waving as he left the room. She said nothing, simply smiling at the boy.
9 years later
Planks? Why planks? Literally, every physical was easy except for planks. It wasn’t even that they were hard because they weren’t, but who wants to stare at the ground for eternity. Sweat fell from his forehead as he waited. A plump man waddled his way over to Fizz, and lowered himself to him.
“You see, this is what happens when you disrespect people, Soda Pop. You get disciplined. I don’t wanna hear any more backtalk from now on, you hear?” Fizz nodded his head silently, contradicting what he was thinking.
“Get up and go home. Detention is over.” The man waddled out of the gym room, leaving Fizz by himself. Fizz panted then wiped the sweat off his forehead. Planking for two hours is a little bit of a stretch, he thought. Fizz through his jacket over his shoulder and made his way out the door.
“Where the hell is he?” Lett announced loudly to her house. She paced the kitchen, her dress flapping behind her as she moved. Food was spread from one corner of the kitchen to the next, almost resembling a feast. Sooner or later, the front door creaked open, and Lett was waiting.
“Where have you been? It’s 9 o’clock Fizz, I thought I told you to be home at 6!?”
“Yeah, sorry mom, I got detention again today. Mr. Mutton really doesn’t like me, ya know.” Fizz threw his beg into the corner of the living room and made his way to the kitchen.
“Detention on your birthday, Fizz? You just need to learn to keep your mouth shut.” Lett exhaled, then pressed her hands together happily.
“So, are you ready to eat?”
“Actually, I think I’m going to pass. I’m not feeling it tonight.”
Fizz’s mom drew her eyebrows into her face and scrowled.
“I went through the trouble of making you all this food, waited hours for you, and now you don’t want to eat? What’s wrong Fizz? It’s your birthday, you’re fourteen!”
“Who cares mom? It doesn’t matter. It’s not like dad’s here to tell me happy birthday.” Fizz crossed his arms and looked at the floor.
“How long has it been now? Four years since he died?”
Letta sighed. She missed her husband, but not as much as Fizz missed him. Fizz had some much trouble going up, but Uz was his best friend- the one that supported him, and when he died, Fizz became even worse.
“Look Fizz I know you’re sad but-”
He wasn’t listening. His eyes were trained on the floor, his ears shutting out anything his mother said.
“You know what Fizz? I was gonna save this for tomorrow, but I guess you’re getting it now!” Lett rushed out of the room for a few minutes. While she was gone, clanging could be heard upstairs. Suddenly, she reappeared, a wooden trunk in hand.
“Here, this all the stuff your father left to you. He wanted you to have it when you turned fourteen. Have at it. I’m going to bed.” Lett turned, and made it to her room. She knew what was in the trunk and what it meant, but she knew it was time. Fizz was going to figure it out eventually. Better off that his father told him.
Fizz sifted through the box, fighting what he could only deduce to be some sort of chestplate, a bandana with a strange marking on it, and a note from his father. Fizz read the note, and while utterly confused, managed to piece who and what he was.
“Vegeta huh? What a weird name for a planet. If mom really is a ‘Saiyan’ then I guess… I guess I have to protect her. Yeah, I’m gonna protect her, no buts about it!” Fizz closed the trunk and made his way up to his room. He needed to find someone to make him stronger, and soon.
Sadly for Fizz, he couldn't protect his mom. A few months later, the SSE attacked, conveniently while Fizz was on a camping trip with friends. Lett was killed along with the destruction of Fizz's house and everything he owned. When he returned home, he found his mother's body so mangled he couldn't even tell that it was her. A strange script was written on her back. Years later, he found out it meant 'traitor' in Saiyan. From that point on, Fizz has been training on his own and passing as a human until he grows strong to tear the SSE to bits, no matter the reprocussions.
