History
Akran’s early years are a bit of a mystery to her, as she knows no one capable of recounting them for her. At some point, she had a family, or at least parents, but who they are and where they went has always been a mystery. What she does know is that her earliest memories and all of them leading up to present day revolve solely around her, alone. Though she received no formal education growing up, she would steal books from the library of her town and struggle to understand them, eventually teaching herself how to read and write, though not with much speed or skill. She would take work where she could, though most of it was low-paying with poor conditions, and several jobs she took simply for a place to sleep at night indoors. Akran was never able to keep one for long, though. At some point she’d always mouth off to the boss or tell a customer to “insert his genitals into his own rear end” in one way or another, getting her obviously fired.
She eventually gave up outright on keeping a job, and instead decided that tricking and stealing was the proper way to go about making a living. After all, it was much easier, and the only person you had to answer to was yourself. Things went off without a hitch for the most part: she’d sneak into someone’s house and take some stuff out of their purse or steal and pawn off anything that looked valuable. For a solid year or two, Akran went completely uncaught and unsuspected, though that changed when she was caught and arrested while attempting to sneak into the house of the, unknown to her, police chief of the town. After some loud arguing and name-calling in the police station, the charges were dropped after a very thorough warning to “never do that again”. Naturally, she did it again.
Figuring it too unsafe to stay in the same town and try her luck at not being suspected, she began to drift from town to town, never staying in one place for more than a few weeks. Her crime spree continued for another several years, with some occasional close calls, though she was never fully caught. Once the Saiyan War struck Earth, though, Akran “noped” out of civilization and went into hiding for fear of being killed in all the massive fighting going on. She never actually encountered any Saiyans, though she did see the results of some of their destruction whenever she’d risk venturing out of the remote area she’d been staying in in order to get food or other supplies. After things finally began to settle down, Akran saw a new opportunity for profit.
With all the restoration and help efforts to treat people affected by the war, Akran found it easy to pose as someone who’d lost her family, and would go to fundraisers and food drives to get all the money and food she could. She would then sell the food she received from the drives to poor people, guilting them into buying from her even with her higher prices because “to not feed their suffering families would be selfish”. This worked better than she could have imagined, and she now had a steady stream of both food and profit coming in, and she barely even had to work for it. Of course, eventually she did get into trouble after drunkenly bragging about it in a bar one night, with some people who’d suffered in the war taking her out back and beating her senseless before taking everything she had on her. It was painful, embarrassing, and annoying to Akran, but she eventually recovered and was glad she’d kept some of her profits stashed away, leaving her with 1,000 Zenni and a One-Use Pod she’d stolen.
