History
From the very beginning, Cepa was destined for greatness. Her parents were tenacious Saiyan warriors, some might say the best there ever were, and it was prophesied their child would become a fighter of untold power. At least, according to Cepa. In truth, her parents were nothing special and neither was she. But no matter how many times she was told this, Cepa never faltered in her belief that she would become the greatest Saiyan warrior in history, and bring the empire to universal glory beyond imagine. Although no matter how hard she tried, as she grew up, she could never quite seem to catch up with her peers, both in power and intelligence. This only served to strengthen her inferiority complex and increase her insistence on how incredible she was, her efforts aimed at proving this to others as much as herself.
Although she tried her best and put forth her full enthusiasm into training and growing stronger, it never came easily for Cepa, and through every sparring match she’d get her rear-end handed to her and a face full of dirt. Whenever asked about the result of a match by someone who hadn’t seen it, though, Cepa would insist she’d completely destroyed her opponent, and to those who had been watching she would always inform that she had “taken it easy” on her opponent and that she didn’t want to embarrass them in front of everybody. Of course, the instructors hardly believed her tales of grandeur, it very much getting on their nerves over the years.
To prove to Cepa that she wasn’t all she claimed to be, and somewhat just out of spite, her instructors decided to fast track her ahead in her training, placing her two years ahead of the class she was supposed to be in. As expected, Cepa couldn’t keep up in the slightest with her peers even remotely anymore, and was hardly even receiving training with how little she could understand and perform. But this didn’t seem to matter much to her: as far as she could tell, her superiors had moved her ahead because of her immense skill and battle prowess, blocking out everyone who said otherwise and stating that they must simply be jealous.
It was around this time the Saiyan Invasion on Earth began, and because she was in a higher class than she was supposed to be, Cepa was sent out alongside just about everyone she knew to go assist in the fighting. More determined than ever at the chance to finally prove herself, the girl was more than happy to assist in the Saiyan Empire’s attempt to take over the planet, and her enthusiasm never wavered. At least, until the fighting started. The glamorous and glorious descriptions of battle she’d always heard were quickly proven a fantasy as the young Saiyan experienced the horrors of war for herself, firsthand. Many times it was only by miracles she survived, but she always insisted that it was just her great skills that lengthened her survival.
However, it was clear she needed something to give her an edge, because even as blind to her own flaws as she was, Cepa could practically feel the gap in power between her and her peers, so she sought out a weapon to give her an edge. She tried out swords, axes and other weapons that she could manage to find scattered about abandoned battlefields but none of them seemed right: they were all way too heavy and slow. But it was love at first sight when Cepa came across a detached vine in a forest nearby, its height and weight just perfect for her to use as a whip, if one with a somewhat limited range. After some practice and advice, she was able to learn how to infuse the vine with ki and perform special attacks with it.
When all was said and done, Cepa hadn’t killed or even harmed a soul on the battlefield once the Saiyans retreated to Vegeta, but she was the only one who knew that. Somehow, the stories she’d told of her “victories” were believed by her fellow warriors for the most part, largely because she’d been grouped with people who’d never met her and thus had no knowledge of her reputation for truth stretching. Because of this, her training was deemed “complete” and she was commended for her excellent and rapid growth. This got to her head a bit, and she really was convinced of her own strength and skill, that she was a mightier warrior than all those around her, even if a part in the back of her mind knew it was all just a big bunch of baloney.
Now graduated at a very young age and part of the official Saiyan Military, Cepa, while at the bottom of the military pile with no recognition and little respect to her name, made a personal vow that she would rise through its ranks and fulfill her destiny as foretold by the gods in the prophecy before she was born. Her mother heard her make this vow aloud and asked her “What the hell she was talking about” though received no answer, as Cepa was too deeply focused on her proud declaration to notice any interference. With her vows declared and her mind made up, Cepa was determined to be the very best Saiyan, like no one ever was.
