The blue haired Kagami sat inside of the cave that they had been calling home for the interim as she was afraid to step foot within the house that Emer had bought. After that evening she had found herself becoming more and more detached from the ones she wanted to call friends as she felt the need to leave constantly over her. She had spoken with Ninjin telling her everything about her father. His goals and dreams for the saiyans to finally drop the yoke of their own bloodlust and try to become greater than their genetics. Every single iota of information she could remember she told the red haired half breed who had headed off the previous day.
So now she sat inside of the empty cave with just her own thoughts and Lilith to keep her company. :: Your going to have to tell Nai that you are leaving Mimi. You cannot just abscond into the night without so much as a word to her. Out of everyone she is the one that deserves to know that you are leaving. Though I do not know if you should tell her the full reason that you are leaving. I doubt that telling her that you are afraid for your life around Emer and that you fear for her safety as well is a good enough topic to breach the subject with. You have to at least venture into the house and tell her face to face… :: Lilith’s words rung out within Mimikku’s head as she sighed heavily. Leaning her head down into her knees as she sat there the wind whipping the sand around her in a light frenzy.
There was no indication of the source of her fear was still within the house or not so she continued to sit there waiting to see if the other woman would come out of the house. Though after an hour of waiting she decided to bite the bullet and walked up to the house. Slipping inside thanks to the house recognizing her in its internal entrant list. Once inside she walked toward the rooms where her friend might be relaxing within the home. She was careful to walk through the home hoping to not get Emer to come and ask why she was there. Thankfully she made it to the room she was searching for and knocked on the door. “Hey Nai Are you in there? I would like to talk with you for a few moments.”

The serpentine lass in question had been lounging in the hot coal room that had been added to the oversized house specifically for her benefit. Nai-Ran had been spending quite a lot of time in there recently. The warmth from the heated coals that made up the floor of that particular room was incredibly comfortable; it was almost like was getting some kind of sauna treatment. It had been doing wonders for her sore muscles.
Having her tail almost completely reformed hadn’t been easy on the Ryashi’s body. It was a lot better than not having a tail at all, which likely would have been the case if Ninjin hadn’t administered a Senzu Bean so soon after her fight with Oni had concluded. Still, Nai-Ran had found that the reformed muscles were a bit weak. The young woman had been doing little more with herself in the past couple of days besides trying to train them back up and relaxing in the coal room. She knew it was for the best since her body was taking a while to fully recover, but it was getting a bit monotonous.
”Hmm?” Nai-Ran lifted her head as she heard a knock on the door, accompanied by Mimikku’s voice. Odd... The Kagami seemed to have been avoiding the house like the plague since Emer had first shown up with it. The young woman wasn’t quite sure why either. She had started exploring it right alongside her and Ninjin at first. Did she had some sort of aversion to human architecture? That seemed a bit strange considering how long Mimikku had resided on Earth. Whatever the reason, Nai-Ran slithered over to the door and opened it, revealing the female Kagami standing in the hallway.
The Ryashi smiled and gave her a wave. ”Hello there, Mimikku. What is it that you would like to speak to me about?” she asked. Maybe she was here to finally speak her mind about what had been keeping her away from the house, as well as everyone else for the most part. Either way, it sounded like she had some sort of concern judging by her tone. As someone in training to take a position of leadership, listening to people’s problems and finding ways to go about solving them was simply part of the deal. Though, more than that, Nai-Ran considered Mimikku to be a friend of hers. If there was anything she could assist her with, she was eager to help.

Mimikku stood outside of the door wringing her hands as she awaited response from within the coal room. Which she was thankful did not take a long time as the door slid open revealing Nai. A smile crossing the face of the Kagami as she spoke in the obvious mixed voice of herself and Lilith. “Before anything else I wanted to make certain you where fine. It is so good to see that you are doing well Nai. Mimi still worries about how well your recuperating from the injuries. Despite her looks she tries to act like a mother hen sometimes.” Lilith managing to slip through after the initial combined voice slipped away from her. With a light chuckle Lilith slipped away as the only evidence of her being there her eyes shifted back to the normal red color.
“Sometimes I swear she does that just to annoy or embarrass me. Here I let her talk and she takes over the full conversation shutting me out.” She let out a chuckle as she slipped into the room and glanced around for a spot for herself to sit down. Taking a few moments she found a stone that was not heated and she took a seat down on it. Her eyes not leaving Nai after she sat down as she felt the warmth of the room press against her in a comforting blanket of heat which was exactly opposite the last few cold nights in the cave.
“Well I just wanted to talk firstly but I wanted to let you know why I have not been enjoying this luxurious home that Emer gave you to enjoy. The.. evening that you where brought back badly injured and he purchased this home I was wandering around and I stumbled upon him. I swear to you that all I felt was death coming from him. Like he was using every single ounce of his body to resist ripping apart Ninjin. Which I feel was only due to your influence he did not attempt to do it right away. This intent… Extended toward me and Lilith was receiving warnings from Alith. So we left and stayed in the cave far enough to get a heads up if something where to happen I could possibly escape. Call it cowardice but… I call it surviving.”
She closed her mouth after speaking as she did she lowered her head and looked downward. She was wringing her hands tighter now as she raised her head. “That… and I believe he is headed down something we Kagami call the Path of Destruction. As you know we Kagami have our goddesses within us. Though there are ways we should conduct ourselves but occasionally there are some that follow a different a more violent path. We call them the Walkers on the Path of Destruction. Where the one that opposite them are Walkers on the Path of Harmony. I.. am one of those that walk along the path of Harmony as Lilith and I speak as one, act as one, and share common beliefs on many a thing. “
Shifting her weight she looked toward the door as she let out a long sigh. “I also fear for my own safety here Nai. I do not want to leave as meeting you has made my goal that I swore I would do be completed rather quickly. For that you have my eternal gratitude my friend… It is just I fear his obsession over the saiyans will cause him to strike out against all who associated with them. Including myself and those innocent like Ninjin. Though I fear she will stand up to him should he try anything.”

Nai-Ran scooted herself to the side to let the Kagami into the room. Once she had found somewhere comfortable to sit, the Ryashi settled herself back into the hot coals to listen to her friend speak. She smiled at Mimikku’s reaction to Lillith taking over for the brief moment that she did. ”There’s no need to be embarrassed. I would be just as for any of you had one of you been found in such a state,” she commented lightheartedly. However, she got the feeling that the conversation wouldn’t stay this pleasant for long with the tone of voice she had heard coming from her while she was outside of the door. ”But to answer your question, my recovery is actually coming along nicely. It’s a bit slow, but the only thing that I’m waiting on to get back to my normal self is my tail. Everything else seems to be just fine.”
Her assumption had been correct. Nai-Ran grew quiet as Mimikku talked about why she had been keeping her distance from the large house. Her reason was far more unsettling than any of the serpentine lass’s previous guesses. It certainly explained the concern in her voice. Nai-Ran knew very well that there was darkness within Emer, which would be directed at anyone who had even a little bit of Saiyan blood running through their veins. She had no idea that it was also being directed at Mimikku and Lilith, possibly just for being involved somehow with that species. While it sounded like he hadn’t actually said anything of the sort, a warning from Alith was more than enough of a reason to be worried and treat it as a serious threat.
”I see...” the young woman began quietly. This was troubling indeed. The thought of Nai-Ran one day having to stand against the man she had come to know as a dear friend to her hadn’t eluded her mind thanks to how he intended to free his people. Hopefully this new revelation didn’t mean that possibility was slowly going to become a reality. ”There is no shame in your actions. I know of what you speak, though I was unaware of exactly how strong it was. That man certainly harbors a lot of hatred within him. It would seem that it’s starting to spread to more than merely the race that enslaved the Kagami long ago. I believe that at one point his goal may have been a noble one to see your kind completely free one day, but I fear it’s become twisted due to all of the abuse he’s suffered over the years.”
The woman went on to explain about the two paths that Kagami that shared their forms with the goddesses they had prayed to walked. The path that Mimikku was on was vastly different than the one Emer was on it seemed. Nai-Ran knew that he often got into disagreements with Alith and Irith. So, Kagami specifically called that walking down the Path of Destruction? It actually sounded fitting for Emer’s situation. If he kept going on as he was, that’s surely all that would surround him.
Getting all of this out into the open was clearly starting to upset Mimikku. However, Nai-Ran guessed that it hardly compared to what must have been surely been bottled up inside of her for the past few days. The Ryashi slowly slithered over to where the Kagami woman sat and placed a hand on her shoulder, giving her a reassuring smile ”I understand your concerns, and would think no less of you if you were to depart from here. I may actually request that Ninjin does the same. Your fears are far from baseless. While I’m doing what I can to quell the rage within Emer, I’m afraid that my efforts may not be enough. All of that negativity isn’t just going to disappear overnight. I only hope that I’m getting through to him, even if it’s only a little bit at a time...”

“Does not mean I do not still feel the shame in hiding Nai-Ran. That darkness is frightening to me as I have never felt such a feeling from anyone else. I have a feeling as well that he started off as a noble hearted man but it has been corrupted over time as you think. I would be lying if I said I do not wish to see my people freed or at least given equal status at the lowest point from the saiyans. Ruto was one of the few working that way but they where all killed by those who prefer the status quo. Those who would keep us under their thumb…” Mimikku’s response to Nai-Ran was not brief in the least and instead was a long answer of what and how she felt. She had had this building within her for weeks now and now it was out in the open and she felt as if a giant weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
As she slowly came back to herself from the diatribe she felt a hand onto her shoulder. Turning lightly she looked at Nai-Ran and smiled at her. IT was a genuine smile of thanks to the Ryashi. Listening to her speak about Emer she nodded toward her. As she assumed everything she was saying was true. “I promise you that I was planning on leaving after I was certain you where fine…” Closing her eyes Mimi took a few moments to collect her thoughts before continuing to speak. “As I at one time told Emer. You remind me of what I assume or what I would of wanted my daughter to be. A kind and caring heart inside of a rather tough exterior. Sound mind for most things and yet still viewing the world with a naïve blissful ignorance to just how despicable people can be toward one another.”
Speaking she moved herself from Nai’s touch as the much smaller Kagami took her step off the stone beside the coals and down onto the tiled floor between them and the door. Enjoying the heat of the room she lingered for a moment as she spoke in not her own voice. “I have to say that what she says is true Miss Nai-Ran. She sees you as something of a surrogate daughter despite only knowing you for this short time. You remind her of all the dreams and hopes she had had. Now that she has met Ninjin the wounds where rubbed raw and with the now guarantee that she is to have to leave. It all is hurting her though she will never admit it. Stoic is how she has lived her life. Standing tall despite all of the weight that would crush most others. There is a good chance she will not see you again after she leaves here. More because she would not want to disrupt anything that you can do to help Emer. As he does need the help to calm himself down…”
Taking a couple breaths the goddess stopped talking as she took a moment and pressed Mimi’s hand to her temple rubbing it lightly. “I doubt my mother nor sister really can get to him anymore. They sustain him so they do not pass into oblivion alongside Emer. Keep an eye on him Nai. You are the only one that will be able to help him.” Lilith did not immediately leave Mimi as she took a few moments to clear her head and allow Mimi to take back over gradually. The Kagami’s fist clutching as she took back over fully from the goddess an obvious argument going on in her mind as she stood there.

”It doesn’t surprise me that there are Saiyans out there that would feel that way and go to such lengths to make sure things stayed as they are. I haven’t met many Saiyans myself. Some of them have been rather kind, or at least with their hearts in the right place. However, for the most part, they seem like aggressive people who prefer to take things through domination. That was especially evident with the Saiyans I saw in Emer’s memories. However...” Nai-Ran trailed off after Mimikku had explained that Ruto had also been interested in setting the Kagami free.
”That doesn’t mean that they all deserve death. I’m well aware that the loss of life isn’t completely unavoidable in this endeavor, and I agree that it’s a cause worth fighting for. I can’t say that I support genocide as an option though, which is what Emer is still intending as far as I’m aware. While there may be a lot of Saiyans that would battle tooth and nail to keep your people in servitude, that’s no reason to punish the few that are fighting on the opposite side of the battle, or even those who are completely unaware of your people’s predicament. I just need to figure out how to convince Emer of the same thing.” It was a task that would be far easier said than done. People’s minds were their own. Even though she considered his way of thinking to be a bit scary, Nai-Ran couldn’t just bend his thought process to match hers even if she wanted to. It would be wonderful if she could at least get him to seriously consider other methods to freeing the Kagami if he hadn’t already though.
The young woman grew quiet at comment about her being what Mimikku would have wanted for her own daughter to be, eyes widening just enough to be noticeable. Nai-Ran tilted her head down a bit, not smiling or frowning. She just looked kind of blank as she registered the words that had been spoken to her. How long had it been since she had last thought about her own mother? Lately she had been lighting up a particular fragrance of incense because that’s who it reminded her of. The package that the sticks came in described the scent to be of cinnamon and cloves. Still, she hadn’t actually given it much thought other than how familiar that scent had been to her at one point.
What would her mother think of her if she had been alive to watch her progress through life? Would she hold Nai-Ran in the same high regard that Mimikku seemed to? Her father had always urged the young woman to push any thoughts of her to the back of her mind since she wasn’t supposed to frown in front of other people, but she couldn’t help but wonder if her mother would have had the same ideals that he did as far as her future went. The serpentine lass wished she could have remembered more than the few fuzzy memories she had of the woman that had been floating deep within her subconscious for most of her life. It was so long ago that she had been lost to how frail she had always been...
Nai-Ran blinked and focused herself once more on the other woman in the room with her. Her warm smile returned to its normal place before she began speaking. ”Those words mean a lot to me... I wonder if my own mother would feel the same way. I don’t actually remember all that much about her,” she explained. It was the first time she had actually talked about it in well over a decade. ”Though, as much as I appreciate your compliment, I’m afraid that my exterior isn’t nearly as tough as I would like it to be. Not with the state I was brought home in the last time I went out.”
The serpentine lass wasn’t happy with how her battle with Oni ended at all, and it still irked her a little to think about. She was supposed to be a leader. One truly worthy of leadership wasn’t allowed to give others a reason to worry about them like she had. They were tasked with keeping up an appearance of being impervious to all damage, physical or otherwise. They needed to be more focused on the well-being of those around them than that of themselves, though that wasn’t to be neglected either since the appearance of invulnerability still needed to be kept up. How was Nai-Ran supposed to accomplish this when she had been brought before her friends with a broken body? It was yet another thing she would need to work on once her tail had completely healed, right alongside keeping her more undesirable emotions confined and her mask firmly in place.
Now on her feet, Mimikku was lingering by the door when Lilith took over, confirming what the Kagami had stated about how she viewed Nai-Ran. The goddess also mentioned how much having to leave after finally finding the child of the man she loved was a difficult thing to do. The young woman wanted her to stay, but she knew the warning she had received from Alith had made that impossible. Besides, Mimikku would only be miserable since her caution about Emer would serve to keep her away from everyone else. ”If at all possible, I would rather this not be our final farewell. I consider you to be a good friend of mine. No matter what comes of all of this, for the better or for the worst, please remember that.”

“It is so much easier said then actually done Nai-Ran. My people are just so used to being the servants we might not know how to react should we all suddenly become free. I mean so many of us this is all we know. I… shared my own memories with Emer and it did little to soothe him despite the good I had shown to him in that way… That pain he carries is such a heavy burden. I had hoped I could lessen it but it seems to of done little.” Speaking softly she turned from the door and looked directly at Nai-Ran. Pulling her left hand out to be visible to the Ryashi showing the obvious cut on her palm where she had done to swap memories with him.
Despite the hesitant appearance when Nai-Ran spoke to her about the words she spoke meaning a lot to her it made Mimi smile. The pains of her own knowledge that she had missed her opportunity yet she could help guide someone else through life made that lessen more than she had expected. As Nai wondered aloud about her own mother Mimi nodded to her. “I can guarantee if she was here she would be proud of you. Also I did not mean it like that Nai. It is more that you have an exterior that allows you to stand against those that differ from your own opinions. You will stand despite the slings and arrows that would be sent your way… and how you returned to us last time means little. There are so many that would of done worse to you than left you near death.”
Looking at her hand as she spoke as if knowing what Emer had gone through had changed her in just suddenly as the innocence she tried to keep was forever gone. “There is never goodbye only I will see you again there Nai. Something I have heard some people use here on Earth that easily explains how I feel despite my own want to not leave you here. Though before I go… Would you want to see my memories. I can have Lilith filter out Emer’s and I could share with you as he did.”
As she offered to share her own memories with Nai-Ran she closed her eyes stepping away from the door. It was obvious that she was still a little afraid as she was still tentative and shaking a little. Despite being much older than either of the people within the home she still had her moments where she was more vulnerable than either of them had been in a very long time. Taking a tep toward Nai-Ran she spoke. “We feel that no matter what he.. will not harm you Nai. Though we both know that is not the case for us. He will kill us if given the chance. By letting you see our past then we will teach you to not falter and help you become who it is that you wish to be. I can tell that you wish to become someone who people look up to… If I must I will stay here for you to take consul with. But we will not live here. We will be in the cave almost full time from today on.”
The combined voice sowed a slight change in her. When Lilith was in control she was more reckless with her words and this was that very incident but as a combined person. Blinking she took a seat on a safe surface next to the coals so Nai and her could continue to converse. Though the Kagami remained silent after the previously spoken duet of voices. In fact she sat there awaiting whatever it was Nai was going to do.

This hadn’t been first time that Nai-Ran had been told that living in servitude was merely the norm for Kagami. Still, if that’s all they were seen as, then it was a truly sad lot in life that needed to be changed if possible. ”So you too have delved into his memories then?” she asked curiously. Strange, Emer didn’t seem like the type to just let anyone into his mind like that, especially with the warnings that Alith had been giving her. Though, she wondered how Mimikku had managed to bear it when it had happened. It hadn’t been a pretty site at all when Nai-Ran had experienced them. The Ryashi didn’t know at what point her mask had slipped off while her mind had been preoccupied by visions that weren’t hers. What she did know was that when she had come to, she had found herself thrashing and writhing violently on the floor, silently begging the images to go away. Mimikku likely handled far better than she had...
The pale haired woman went on to explain what she meant about her comment on Nai-Ran’s exterior. So it was just about how she carried herself and not with her combat abilities? The young woman hadn’t even thought about it in that sense. It was something that was second nature to her. It wasn’t surprising given what she had been preparing to become for most of her life. ”I see. I thank you for your praise, but really that just ties into my training. Remember how I told you that I’m eventually to take my father’s place in governing over the Rujju Sands? The ability to hold onto one’s convictions in the face of adversity without wavering is simply part of the job. If you bend to every gust of wind that is blown in your direction, you appear weak to those you oversee. They’ll have no confidence in you or your decisions.”
So, it appeared that Mimikku was entertaining thoughts of sticking around after all. Normally this would have put a smile on Nai-Ran’s face, but the reason she was offering to stay seemed iffy. Again, she was obviously frightened at what Emer might do to her, especially since Ninjin was still staying with them for the time being. She didn’t want her friend to stay within harm’s way just to offer guidance. It was ultimately Mimikku’s decision to make. ”Everyone has a path that they must follow. In your case, choosing between the road that keeps you here or the road that leads you away is your decision. I will say this much though. As much as I dislike having a friend leave, putting their safety in jeopardy to keep them near isn’t a good idea. If you truly wish to stay in the cave, then you are free to do so. Just ask yourself if it’s something you think is worth ignoring Alith’s warning for.”
Mimikku wasn’t the only one with a decision to make at that moment. It was time for Nai-Ran to make a choice of her own. The Kagami woman had made the offer to allow the serpentine lass to delve into her memories. She was hesitant as best to accept her offer. Again, the young woman hadn’t handled it too well when she had done it with Emer. She knew Mimikku’s memories likely wouldn’t be nearly as painful, but did she really want to risk possibly taking off her mask again? Still, the woman probably didn’t offer it to just anyone since it was such a personal thing. She obviously put a lot of trust in Nai-Ran.
”If you’re certain of it, then I accept your offer,” Nai-Ran replied with her head held high. She wasn’t sure how it would assist in helping her become worthy of her father’s position. However, at the very least might give her some more insight into the plight of the Kagami. There was a good chance that it could help in the long run. Nai-Ran brought her thumb to her mouth and sunk the tip of one of her fangs into her flesh. As soon as she pulled it away, she watched for a moment as her dark indigo blood began to seep from the small puncture. Well, here she went again... The young woman presented her thumb to her friend and took a deep breath. ”Whenever you’re ready...”

“Well I asked him the night before you where brought back to us as you where. We where sitting on the rocks above the cave talking. I was hoping to change his mind if only in the slightest. As for the memories… It was not pretty… but Lilith helped me immensely in that. I would of lost consciousness and would of violently struck out as his memories threatened to overwhelm me, but she helped me through it. With a guiding hand she helped me and I was able to take in the memories and keep them separate from my own. So I was able to retain myself without too much overlap.” She shook her head lightly from side to side as despite her best abilities she has been having a hard time getting rid of the worst of the memories she received from Emer. Every now and again her arm would begin to tingle and then lose all feeling within it. To her it felt like the arm just did not exist anymore in her mind and yet it took her a moment every time to look and move it to regain her feeling in the extremity.
As Nai explained herself and why it is that she had all that training Mimi smirked. “I think that you would have this demeanor even if not trained in this way Nai. You just have this aura about you. I doubt many would see you as weak if you had a stumble or stuttered step here or there over the years. I mean everyone has those moments. It is just how you get back on your feet that is your measuring stick.” Her words where tactful as she could be and she tried to hammer home the simple points she had before. As to her Nai was a great friend and she saw herself as she was much older than either of the ones there as her mentor. She would give the Ryashi any type of advice she was able to. ”I appreciate the concern Nai… I honestly believe that I will stay here but not in the mansion that you have here. I will be staying in the cave as it is safe enough and far enough away that I can get some relative peace no matter the situation and… I can be there if that creature that attacked you returns to try and hurt you again. As no one hurts my friends and gets away with it scot free.” Her words echoing out during the silence between them after her offer was made to Nai for her to share her memories with her. Mimi could hear Lilith being a little shocked at her offering such a thing to another person but relented as she knew that Mimi could do this and not feel adverse this time. Though she informed the goddess to try and keep it as painless for Nai-Ran as she possibly could. Lilith was of course going to do as asked for Mimi and Nai’s sake.
Spying the indigo blood on Nai’s finger she had a momentary flash of the evening where she saw Nai’s body being carried in by Ninjin and placed inside the cave. The blood that was everwhere was seared into her mind but she pushed it out of her mind as she reached behind her and grabbed her small blade. Holding her thumb out in front of her she quickly moved the blade to slice into her thumb. It was so fast that only a few would be able to keep up with the movement. After a moment Mimi moved her hand and looked at Nai. “I wish to make certain you wish to know of my past Nai. While not as painful as Emer’s I did experience a lot of loss over the years. I do not want to injure you in that way. So just make certain that you are fine with this.” Speaking was more for her own self confidence than anything else. As Nai agreed to her Mimi would clasp her hand with Nai’s and with Lilith’s help pass over her own memories. With the goddesses help she was certain to not overwhelm Nai with her entire history all at once, but she would see everything. From her childhood growin up beside Ruto, to their teenage years together, to his meteoric rise to power and subsequent demise. All from Mimi’s perspective she would even see her homeworld through the eyes of a tourist, but one that left the planet changed for the best.
After ten minutes Mimi would pull her hand back from Nai-Ran’s. Hopefully it would not hurt her mentally as she looked at the Ryashi. “I.. hope you now understand me just a little better and I hope this helps you understand just what I mean when we serve the saiyans…”

Nai-Ran listened carefully as Mimikku went over what happened when she had experienced Emer’s memories. It would seem that her fight with Oni hadn’t been the only source of unpleasantness that night. At least she had Lilith to assist her in overcoming such images. The Ryashi probably could have used that kind of assistance as well when she first bought Emer’s contract. Though, even with the help of the goddess that lived within her, it sounded like the Kagami might have still been having some issues with it. The serpentine lass wasn’t surprised, considering the nature of said visions.
”I’m afraid it’s not so simple,” Nai-Ran began as she looked down at her hands folded in her lap. There was no denying that she had a point. Everyone made mistakes every now and again; nobody was perfect. However, the young woman wasn’t being groomed to appear like everyone else. ”One who vies for such a position needs to appear to be incapable of making mistakes. While you are correct that there are time where I will undoubtedly fumble, such slip ups need to stay discreet and not draw the attention of those in your charge. True perfection may be impossible, but I am still required to carry on the illusion of it.”
Nai-Ran felt rather happy inside to learn that she would continue to keep her friend close, but she also felt pangs of worry. Mimikku may have decided to stay in the cave, she but would still have to keep an eye on things between her and Emer. The young woman really didn’t want any trouble happening between the two of them. However, that wasn’t the only reason she had to feel worried. ”I don’t believe that creature will be returning for me. He had left me for dead with how severely I was bleeding, and I’m sure he figures my life was snuffed out after our encounter. Regardless of this, I will handle him should I be incorrect, and I shall be far more prepared to do battle with him than the last time it happened,” Nai-Ran said firmly. The Ryashi had purposefully left out as many details from her attack as she could. She wasn’t sure if anyone in her company would have been the type to go and seek Oni out because of what happened, but she didn’t want to take that chance. She would simply have to keep gaining strength. After all, being able to protect those under her would be a good trait for a leader to have. It may have been a bit unconventional, but she still felt it was important.
The Ryashi nodded to Mimikku’s question and tensed her body as the two small wounds were pressed together, allowing both bright crimson and dark indigo fluids to mingle. The images that flooded into her mind were far more tame than Emer’s, but still not happy. As someone who was rather priviledged while growing up and being fully aware of this, she knew that it would have been like that to at least some extent. While she still didn’t approve of Kagami living in slavery, it was nice to see that at the very least the relationship between Mimikku and Ruto had been a pleasant one, even if it did make his tragic end sting all the more. She had to admit that seeing Appodorra again was somewhat comforting, even if the region she had been seeing wasn’t one she had ever visited due to how strict her father had been about not leaving the Rujju Sands. Though, she couldn’t help but cringe at a couple of the most recent memories, including the warning from Alith and the site of her own mangled body. Nai-Ran hadn’t actually seen what she had looked like before being healed by the Senzu Bean. She really had come back a mess...
When the images stopped and she had come to, Nai-Ran saw that she was still sitting in the same position that she had been before. Her body was incredibly tense, but at least she hadn’t dropped to the floor like last time. It was going to feel so incredibly odd to have the memories of two different people occasionally popping up among her own...
With a deep breath, Nai-Ran relaxed the muscles in her face and opened her eyes. ”I believe so. While your time in servitude was vastly different from Emer’s, you were still a slave. I don’t know what I could possibly do to ensure a future where it would have been possible for you to be with Ruto without first coming to him in such conditions, but I know there has to be some for it to be accomplished without even more unnecessary deaths,” she sighed, still trying to make sense of everything. She still felt incredibly uncomfortable dealing in politics and had been hoping to avoid them during her time one Earth, but she wasn’t so sure she could. Where was she to start though? The most she had ever dealt with was coming up with answers to more small-scale problems under her father’s supervision! ”Thank you for showing them to me...”

“Well if he ever does return you will not be the only one ready to fight him. Nai-Ran I wish to fight by your side if he does return. Can I have your word that I would be allowed to stand at your side as a friend there to help you fight off something that is not good…” Her words despite the lowered volume carried some weight behind it as she emphasized just the correct moments. Smiling at her friend it was obvious she was trying to show that despite her meek demeanor if push came to shove she would be there for Nai-Ran. If not in the capacity of fighting up front like the others around her but she would act as a mind to help her plan.
As she pressed her finger against Nai’s Lilith chimed up in her head :: I will filter out Emer’s memories, also I will be giving the memories to her at a reasonable pace as I can. I will try and not overwhelm her Mimi. Thank you Lilith. Let us show her what we showed Emer. I hope that it does not pain her as living through it all has hurt me.:: Closing her eyes Mimikku clasped her hand with Nai-Ran’s. Passing along the memories she had made certain to help out the goddess as the minutes passed and the last of the memories passed over to her she pulled her hand away and grabbed a small clean cloth from her pack. Wiping her thumb with it she held it there as she waited for the blood to stop pumping and the thumb to clot. It took another minute or so but her wound stopped flowing as she sighed to herself and then gave a shaky smile to Nai-Ran.
“It is something most cannot avoid. Only the half breed children of Kagami and Saiyans are free normally. Or those that raised by a kind master gain their freedom at the coming of age. I have seen several families that purposely buy Kagami only to keep them until their contract expires. Then they do not renew them and let them leave the planet and treat them kindly while they are under their care. More they treat them as people in their employ and they pay them for the years they worked and lived with them. I just wish these kind Saiyans did not have to hide behind a gruff exterior because if they where the norm and known then maybe this animosity between our races could end… and no one would have to die from it anymore.” It was obvious where her conviction was when it came to her people. If push came to shove there is a chance that she would fight, but would always prefer a more peaceful path.
“It was our honor to show you our memories Nai. We.. rather you have them just in case that the warning does come to pass. Someone who we feel will come to be able to pass along our message of peace better than someone like Ninjin. She would sooner use her fists to solve an issue than her mouth. You use your mouth first but you in the end of it all you will fight if needed.” The goddess chiming in alongside Mimikku. As the pair where in full agreement to what they had done and what had transpired and what they wanted to have happen in the future. Moving back to the rock beside the coals she sat down and leaned back. It was obvious the large weight was off her shoulders.
“Oh Nai I believe I may of given you some memories of cooking and all that. So you should have a better knowledge of Earthen and Kagami cuisine now. I guess that is a helpful little side effect of me sharing my memories with you.” She chuckled at the coincidence of all that had happened. Nai was a surrogate daughter and yet a better friend to Mimikku could of hoped. The fact she was going to stay in the cave did not mean that anything would change about them. More now they would be permenant neighbors to one another.

”Thank you very much for your concern, but I’m afraid that that’s something I cannot condone. Allow me to handle it. I assure you that I won’t be caught off guard by him again. Besides, I now have the exact same advantage that he did since Ninjin showed me what a Senzu Bean is,” Nai-Ran spoke sternly with a light shake of her head. She had been afraid of something like this happening. Mimikku was both kind and protective. After she had witnessed firsthand what Oni was capable of, she couldn’t allow her friend to face such a foe. Perhaps she could participate in other fights, but not this one. The young woman would just have to make sure to keep up with her training so that she could ensure that this fight would be hers and hers alone if it ever came to that.
The serpentine lass watched as Mimikku placed cloth over the bright red cut that she had made on her finger before moving on to resume talking about the current fate of the Kagami. Nai-Ran let out a sigh as her eyes drifted down to her pearly scales. It was wonderful that there were people out there that had purchased slaves with the exact same intentions that she had when she had acquired Emer’s contract, to free them as soon as possible. However, being born into a life of subservience shouldn’t have had to be unavoidable just because of your race. It was just like how being born with Saiyan blood shouldn’t condemn someone to death. Neither of those was right! Nai-Ran knew that it was a naïve way of thinking of things. The universe simply didn’t work on what one person thought was right or wrong. Would she be expected to extinguish those ideals of hers and look at situations like this with a level head when she finally took her father’s place? Could she do that? It was actually kind of scary to think that one day she might have to turn the other cheek when faced with things she felt so strongly about...
”Huh?” Nai-Ran blinked and stared at Mimikku blankly for a few moments as she turned the discussion towards something the Ryashi certainly hadn’t expected with everything else that they had spoken about already. Cooking? Sure she was technically correct since small tidbits of that had been scattered throughout the memories she had witnessed, but the young woman hadn’t even thought about that. Here she was stewing over how to free an entire race from the shackles that bound them without spilling anymore blood than necessary, a task that seemed impossible for only a small handful of people to accomplish, and she was bringing up cooking? Oddly enough, it was enough to return the smile to the young woman’s face. Everything they had talked about so far had been incredibly serious. It was actually kind of nice to have a more lighthearted topic to focus on, if only for a moment. ”I suppose there was some of that in there, wasn’t there? Perhaps your memories will help me in more ways than I first thought,” she chuckled.
However, the subdued laughter was short-lived as her face shifted to a look of mild discomfort. Her hands quickly moved to her temples and pressed against them. Allowing yet another set of memories into her mind had left Nai-Ran feeling more drained than she had anticipated. The young woman was starting to feel light headed. ”Ooh... I’m afraid I’m going to have to cut our conversation a bit short. I’m feeling awfully weary, and I believe it’s about time that I retired to my room,” Nai-Ran said as she relaxed her facial expression again. ”I’m glad that you’ve decided to stay, but please try to be careful. Again, Alith knows what’s going on inside of Emer’s head better than any of us might so I’m sure she had a good reason to send you that warning. Please don’t hesitate to rethink your decision if you think your safety might be in jeopardy.” With that, Nai-Ran raised herself off of the patch of warm coals that she had been sitting atop and slithered over to the door. ”Goodnight Mimikku,” the Ryashi said with a smile and a small bow before disappearing into the hallway and making her way to her room. The two of them had spoken about a great deal of things that she would need to contemplate further. Hopefully it wouldn’t stop her from getting some much needed rest though.

“I will then trust you Nai… I will trust you with everything as you are not someone to be held in place by another nor smothered underneath someone else’s shadow or protection. I can see that as well you did come to Earth to live and learn. This planet is not a place that is all that friendly to outsiders as you probably know already…” She spoke and smiled at Nai as she held the bandage tight to her finger. For some reason today she was having issues with the wound closing. So she kept the impromptu bandage held tight as she sat there.
The change in subject was a definite deliberate as dwelling upon such bad things make it hard for anyone to just enjoy someone else’s company. Which it would be obvious that she was enjoying Nai-Ran’s company as she always did. Chuckling lightly as she mentioned the cooking from her perspective. “Well I hope that they do help you Nai. I know that it is easier to learn from doing but the thing is sharing the memories as such pretty much makes it that you have had these life experiences. So you have already seen the worse side of the random testing and trying.” A smile stayed plastered on her face as she spoke as she remembered her misadventures in cooking especially some human cuisine. Always charring or burning everything during her first few attempts.
Though her smile did fade a little at the signs of discomfort from Nai-Ran. She gave her a look of caring was easily evident as she looked at her. “It is fine Nai. If you are not feeling all that good maybe I should stick around the house this evening and assist you so that you do not have to do much? I could easily help out for you. Unless you think that could be a bad idea?” There was care and tenderness in her voice as she watched as Nai slithered up past her and to the doorway. As she said her goodnight Mimi reciprocated the Ryashi’s gesture as she bowed as well. The whole fact she had been trained for high society at times was lost due to her general demeanor but in the moment it showed as she stayed within the heated room for a few minutes longer.
Her thoughts coming through as she sat there and Lilith speaking with her within her head. :: Mimikku you know that this is dangerous if we stay here. That is what Alith warned us about. My mother and sister told me that Emer was almost beyond their power to help and control his more murderous tendencies. That it is just a matter of time before he will be able to basically banish them from his psyche unless he calls upon their power. This is going to be bad for us if we stay here… :: ::Lilith I know these facts well.. It is why I am staying here. Maybe.. just maybe he will not go off on his rampage if we are here. I do not know I just feel that I should be here for him. After we shared our memories I..I just cannot shake the feelings I have be it for the better or worse only time will tell for us. Our path is illuminated while his is darkened. It.. is not something I wish for anyone to have to walk as that path will lead to only his death. Am I wrong for wanting to stop him from doing that?:: ::No Mimi you are not wrong for wanting to keep him safe and to keep those that you care for safe. It is only natural and I can almost guarantee mother and sister would agree with you. Just.. do not get to attached to anyone love. Things may get darker before the light begins to emerge. ::
As the conversation ended in her head she found herself in a cooler coal room as it had been longer than she had thought. Wrapping her arms around herself she sighed as she left the room and instead of heading back to the cave she found one of the smaller spare bedrooms and entered determined to get some shuteye before things would get to far into the darkness. Settling down onto the bed she sighed as she placed a hand on the scar on her side. Slipping under the covers of the bed she sighed as she closed her eyes and fell asleep rather quickly into another night of fitful sleep and nightmares.
