"And if you look to our left, you'll see HFIL's very own amusement park!" an excited voice called over a loudspeaker to the inhabitants on the deck of the cruise ship. Two stories tall and littered with lawn chairs and orge crewman, the Jadoshin was traveling across the Blood Pond in all of its splendor. Large and wide, it was the largest object floating within the pond, several hours ago the ship emerged from the depths of the visceral lake itself and was mysteriously free of any of the crimson liquid.
Aside from ogres, several skeletons had been put to work swabbing the decks and tending to the needs of the patrons. Had one heard the stories of a tortuous hell that awaited the wicked, they would be in disbelief that the spirits here were being treated quite nicely. Hell was a place for rehabilitation so that the soul could have another go at life through reincarnation. Well, for most at least.
Among the puffy white clouds that made up the souls of the ships guests, a single black wisp with a more concrete form than the others was hanging off of the side of the ship. Making hurling noises, the being seemed to be having a rough go at it upon the ship.
"Uhg the swaying," Jack complained, though his ghostly tail hovered inches off of the deck of the ship. Having perished while intoxicated, he was stuck in a state of eternal hang over while he was in hell. His soul having no chance of reincarnation due to his ghostly state, he was more of a nuisance than anything, but ogres would try to keep him busy so that he wouldn't be able to find a way to slip out of the other world again. He had been assigned some sort of job, but his head ached too much and his "stomach" felt like it was churning. Luckily for others, he couldn't really wretch anything out. Tulip Waterfield . Standing next to the huge red pond, Tulip went through her katas she had learned from old men in the villages, chaining together punches, jabs, kicks, and knees into a never-ending combo. She still hadn’t come to terms with possessing a body that barely tired and didn’t need much food. The villagers she had spent time with had given her a satchel with minimum food, which the woman had taken dryly. She had more than expected to run out shortly, but five days later she still had an almost full satchel. It was almost terrifying, how little sleep and food she needed to function in this never-changing landscape. Twisting her torso and launching herself into the air, the woman landed in a heel-drop that cratered the ground for twenty feet in front of her.
Good to see that being dead hasn’t weakened me. I really wish I had someone to spar with. Wonder where Kiddo went…?
Her gaze shifted to the left, as a huge boat surfaced on the pond she was standing next to. She could see the figures scattered around the deck, various ogres, skeletons, and ghosts. One ghost in particular looked sick, which interested Tulip. She had met ghosts in other places; the ones who seemed ‘off’ were generally different, still retaining the spark that made them unique in this world of same dreariness. Rising into the air, she shot forward, intending to interrogate the ghost. If the ogres got in her way, she might have to ‘convince’ them politely to let her conduct her business. A smile crossed the woman’s face as her emerald eyes sparkled.

Jack did not anticipate the arrival of the new guest. He continued attempting to retch over the side of the boat, though nothing would come up as he had no stomach to speak of. Eventually, he would turn and hold at the cloth wrappings at his midsection, long tarnished sleeves covering where hands might have been. He was wearing a hood over his head, with shining bright eyes peering out from the blackened ectoplasm that made up his form.
Standing in front of him was a woman with emerald eyes and a strange smile on her face. The ghost did his best to return her grin with a toothy grin of his own though his eyes seemed to be straining. He didn’t know what the woman had decided to encroach upon his personal space for.
“Nice body,” Jack said. “How’d you get it?” he asked, unaware of the connotation that his statement might have given off. He wanted a body of his own, something that he had tried for in vain.
There wasn’t much time before a red ogre in a white sailor suit came barreling across the deck, he was large and burly with a black beard, but his suit had been comically to tight. He was approaching from the other end of the ship, and there would be some time before he would arrive. Tulip Waterfield

She noted the ghost’s unique appearance; unlike many of the other spirits in Hell, this ghost had a black face and white shining features. This was accented by his black hood he wore over his entire body. He was still barfing as the woman landed on the ship. She walked over and leaned on a stack of boxes while waiting for the ghost to compose himself. He finally did, wrapping one sleeve over his stomach. When the ghost looked at the hybrid, he gave her a menacing smile.
“Nice body.” The ghost commented in a man’s voice. Yes! My guess this ghost was a male was spot on! “How’d you get it?”
“I earned it using a bauble. Unfortunately, I gave said-item to another ghost as a reward. How’d you get this grandiose job?” Tulip motioned at the huge ship and the various people working it. Her gaze fell behind her and noticed the huge red ogre barreling towards them. The look on his face didn’t seem ‘friendly’, to say the least. “Is he like...your warden or something? I say we blow this popsicle stand and head to a more roomy place to chat. Is there some type of barrier holding us in place or something of that sort?”
The young woman began stretching, gaze scoping out the area, before hopping in place to warm up her muscles. Though she wanted to be as diplomatic as possible, beating up a few ogres wouldn’t be a bad warmup. She’d wait for the ghost’s response for taking any action on her own, though.

“A bauble?” Jack inquired before scratching his head. The woman then said she had already given whatever it was away, so it would be pointless to inquire further more than likely. She seemed to be curious about what he was doing on the ship, which aside from puking was a work detail. “I uh…. You know…” he began but then stopped as the woman asked him about the red skinned ogre who was still moving towards them, growing closer. As she asked him if he could get out, he pointed at a translucent chain made of ki energy that was attached to his tail, it was faint and nearly invisible, but a lock hung from it that was attached at the tail. Jack wore a look of defeat as he pointed it out, but was to afraid to say anything more as the orge was quickly approaching.
“He is doing community service for violating the law!” the red ogre barked. “Who are you? What are you doing on this ship?” he demanded. Around the neck of the being in his sailor suit was a large golden key, and a name tag on his chest read ‘First Mate Nezha'. Despite the ogre’s burly appearance, he was much shorter up close than he had appeared, standing under five feet tall.
It had also seemed that his presence had stirred both the crew and the guests, as the fluffy white spirits began to move away from the area where the first mate was confronting the unauthorized visitor, wanting to avoid the trouble. Several skeletons in sailor suits moved in a bit closer, blocking the walk ways. Tulip Waterfield

Tulip knelt next to the ghost to attempt to examine the lock. The ghost wore a look of defeat and resignation, as the red ogre got closer. The woman finally rose and crossed her arms as the ogre finally arrived. Surprisingly enough, the woman stood taller than the ogre, who wore a white sailor suit and a name tag. Leaning closer, she attempted to read the name tape and only partially listened to the ogre’s loud barking.
“He is doing community service for violating the law! Who are you? What are you doing on this ship?!”
Nodding once in confirmation, the woman stood up straight. The other, ordinary spirits had hidden from sight, while skeletons moved forward to block the avenues of escape. Uncrossing her arms, the woman spoke firmly and boldly. “I’m just a denizen of this lovely place who frowns upon the institution! My colleague and I will be discussing matters from a nicer place; should you attempt to halt our departure, I’ll be forced to take more drastic measures!” With that declaration, the woman slammed her ki-infused heel into the chain holding the ghost. It merely rattled from her strike, not breaking like the woman intended. There was a short pause, where a blush crossed the woman’s face. Slicing downwards with her hand, a huge silver claymore pierced the deck of the ship, blocking her from the view of the ogre and skeletons. Spinning around into a kneeling position, the woman began hammering at the chain with a silver hammer.
“GAH! This chain embarrassed the hell out of me! How do I break it?!” Slight tears tinged the edges of the woman’s eyes, as she looked up to the ghost for answers, trying to speed this along before the ogre and skeletons got over the initial shock of a story-tall blade cutting through the deck of their ship.

Jack seemed a bit hesitant as the woman drew the ire of the first mate. His time on the ship was bad enough as it was. He didn’t want to end up with extra duties, or worse end up getting sent to do something even worse.
Jack’s beady white orbs lit up with anticipation and the crack of a grin formed as the woman heroically brought a hammer down upon the ki chain that was binding him to the ship. He had no desire to be there, all the swaying was making him sick, and he wasn’t of much value to the crew anyways as he had spent his entire time trying to puke up nonexistent bile from his nonexistent stomach in futility. Truth be told, he was more being kept busy in order to prevent him from seeking an escape from the afterlife as he had a habit of doing. Jack had no sensory powers, but he could tell that the woman had a mightier strength than her appearance would bear. When the hammer fell, and his chain did not break, his face curled back into a frown. She seemed notably embarrassed, and asked Jack how to break it, but he had little time to respond as the brutish ogre interrupted.
“You don’t break it!” First Mate Nezha yelled. “I’m warning you, you better make your way off this ship or you’ll spend eternity at the bottom of the blood pond! I’ll-”
There was a silence as a door on the upper deck was pushed open. From a bannister a blue ogre in a finely trimmed naval outfit stepped forward. He was thinner than most ogres, and wore a large triangular hat that demanded respect, of his features the most notable were his long nose and his thick black beard. As the crew and most everyone else was distracted by the sight of the captain, Jack tapped lightly on Tulip’s shoulder.
“The key,” Jack whispered, pointing at the key tied around the first mate’s neck.
“First Mate, what is that racket?” the Blue Ogre demanded.
“We’ve an intruder Captain Bluebeard, trying to take a ghost from the ship, I’ll make sure to send her away promptly,” the red ogre replied, cracking his knuckles.
“Hm, an intruder? Well isn’t that exciting,” the Captain stated. “Bring her to me, and the ghost too. I’ve been awfully bored these past hundred years, I could use a good conversation,” he said as he turned back around and reentered his quarters.
“Aye cap’n,” the Red Ogre said, though he frowned and tucked his fists a bit tighter, obviously holding back a dislike of the captain’s decision. “You heard the captain land lover, you and the ghost are going to the captain’s quarters… but I don’t trust the lot of you, so i’ll escort you,” Fight, steal the key, or go visit the captain- up to you Tulip Waterfield

As the ogres and other crewmen got over the initial shock of her giant blade, they began moving in. The red ogre began speaking angrily, making the woman’s eyes narrow in anticipation. “You don’t break it! I’m warning you, you better make your way off this ship or you’ll spend eternity at the bottom of the blood pond! I’ll-”
A sudden, piercing chill shot through Tulip’s body as every person on the deck froze. Every eye, including her own, went to the upper deck, as a new man stepped into view. A male ogre, thinner than most, now stood on the deck. She was broken from her stupor as the ghost tapped her shoulder.
“The key!” He pointed at the red ogre’s neck. The ogre was speaking to the new man, who was apparently the captain.
As much fun as fighting the captain sounds, sinking this ship might actually get me in trouble. For now, steal the key and save the ghost! Stepping forward as the red ogre began reluctantly speaking for the second time, the woman took a neutral stance with her elbows tucked into her sides. Bringing one arm up and placing the knuckles of her partially clenched fist on his chest, the woman let out a slow breath. “Enjoy your nap, ogre.” With that, the woman thrust outwards and sent the huge ogre hurtling sideways and through the wall on the opposite side of the ship. Her fist was fully closed now; opening it revealed the chain with the key on it. Catching the small item in her fingers, Tulip knelt down and opened the lock on the ghost’s chain. Tossing both the key and lock into the red water, the woman jumped backwards off the ship. As she fell out of sight, she stuck her tongue out at the captain and his crew. “Smell ya later!” Activating her ki just before she hit the water, the woman flew across the pond and landed on the shore a few miles away. Looking around, she decided to wait for the ghost to show up.

Jack was free! He didn’t know what the stranger had in mind in saving him, but it didn’t matter. Exstatic as he was, he still felt a throbbing in his head that kept him from becoming visibly excited. Still, the ghost quickly shook the unlocked shackle from his tail and took to the air over the blood pond. There were gasps from the cloudy white inhabitants of the ship, and clattering teeth of skeletons who ere panicking with the absence of the first mate who had been thrown threw the wall.
Jack himself eventually landed near the woman on the shore of the blood pond. He gave her a weak grin, and glanced back at the ship they had departed. He then looked to her again, shrugging his shoulders.
“Thanks lady!” Jack said. He wasn’t sure why he had recieved the assistance, and his head felt to foggy to quite think things through. He then remembered she had said that she wanted to discuss something. “So… uh, what was it that you were needing?”
Meanwhile, back on the ship, the well dressed blue ogre stood towering over the red ogre, who was laying in the rubble of one of the ships walls. The blue ogre looked quite a bit annoyed, and leaned down to shake the first mate.
“Wake up,” the captain demanded. The red ogre gave no response. Sighing, the blue ogre stepped over his subordinate and adjusted his cap, then pulling out a rather peculiar cylindrical object from his pocket made from gold with a glass disc in the center. The object was extended out by the ogres hand, revealing itself to be a spyglass.
“How rude of them to run out on our dinner engagement,” he said, spitting on the deck. “Full speed towards the shore, prepare the cannons!"
“Sir, we don’t have any cannons… this is a luxury ship,” a skeleton chattered out.
“Right. Well still, we are gonna go get them lads. Prepare the life rafts, i’m sending the lot of the crew after them,”

The young hybrid started stretching, spreading her legs and ensuring she loosened up. When the ghost reappeared near her, she glanced over from her overhead arm stretch and noted his weak smile. “Thanks, lady. So...uh, what is it that you were needing?” The young woman grinned, sliding into the splits and continuing her full-body stretching. Her gaze passed the ghost, falling on the ship. She could sense the energy shifting and moving. Three life rafts fell into the lake, loaded with crewmen. A savage grin crossed the woman’s face, as she pulled her legs into a sitting position and finally spoke.
“So...what’re you doing time for? We got some time till the crew gets here.” The woman looked at the strange ghost hovering next to her. There was no way to tell his age, background, or even race. Only a disembodied spirit with a masculine voice. She closed her emerald eyes and leaned back, recalling the things she liked least about Hell. The lack of wind is more than irritating; I really fucking miss a nice breeze. She continued with only that short pause, answering his question. “You seemed unique. So, I decided to free you from the ship. The whole punching thing and now the crew is just an added bonus; life in this place is boring. Mind if I beat up all those guys for fun? Or will that worsen your punishment?”

“Well… whenever I am here, I feel like i’ve got an incurable hangover,” Jack said bluntly, holding his hand up to his head and frowning with his razor sharp teeth for effect. “I found a way to get out, but I always end up back here one way or another. I guess they don’t like it when I get out,”
He sighed as he watched the crew falling into the lake on their little boats. His head rang with annoyance. He just wanted to get the hell out of hell, it was much more fun back on earth. The woman herself seemed to enjoy a fight, and was willing to beat the snot out of his captors.
“I don’t mind at all,” Jack said in reply to the woman. “I’ve got all eternity to pay for it. They say my soul is too messed up to cleanse, so i’m damned if you do and damned if you don’t,” he said.
The lifeboats were drawing nearer. Jack himself thought about joining in on the fun, despite his weakness. Perhaps banging on the wall was just what he needed to take his mind off of his condition.
