[An interesting little rumour caught Fan's attention earlier in the week. In the Western frontiers, somewhere hidden within the Fukurou Forest layed a tower far greater than any other, whose top is protected by fighters of the highest caliber.]
This was just the type of rumour to send Fan into a frenzy. Almost immediately he had started to prepare for the journey into the Western frontier, forgetting most of his essentials in his frantic packing as he scurried to embark on his journey. The week of travel had been long and hard, between fights with rabid tigers, bandits, and all sorts of other creatures, Fan also had to deal with food shortages and lack of directions.
Seems that among all of the supplies he had forgotten, a map was one of them. Fan sighed as he recalled this, in the end he managed to find a village that gave him directions. He had reached a forest of sorts, though he had no way of knowing if it was Fukurou or not. He had washed his face and refilled a canteen of water he had been carrying in a nearby river, were he had also killed a deer. He had been cooking the deer on an open fire in broad daylight, alerting anyone nearby to his presence due to the smoke raiseing into the air. He didn't really care though, he just kept on cooking, making sure the meat didn't burn. "Tch.... Really hope this doesn't turn out to be some false rumour... I've been out here for what, a week now?.....-sigh-... Well... It wouldn't be the first time I got some fake rumours..." He said, slightly annoyed as he turned the deer meat over the fire.
Whilst Fan had been brooding over the "fake" rumour, a quick ball of fur (a creature of sorts) zoomed by, snatching up his cooking meat.
Fan simply watched, eyeing the creature as it zoomed off into the thickness of the Forest. Fan then solemnly stood up, his stomach growling from hunger. He had only one thought going through his mind at that point-
". . . . . IM GONNA KILL IT!!!!!"
It was surprisingly difficult catching the furry little critter, despite the use of his energy sense and the smell of the meat guiding Fan through the thickness of the forest. The creatures jumped around the forest frantically, ducking behind trees and leaping wildly from behind its hideing spots as to try and get Fan off of his tail. "COME BACK HERE YOU FURRY LITTLE VARMINT!!!" He yelled, his face smacking into a tree branch shortly afterwards.
Fan eventually caught the Rat-like ball of fur. He held it by its tail, eyeing it as it tryed to squirm out of his grasp. Unfortunately, the meat had been pretty much devoured at this point, and Fan simply didn't care enough after the extended chase to kill the Rat, and so let it go. It landed, hitting the ground before immediately zipping off somewhere. He had actually started to enjoy the chase halfway into it, viewing it as a fun form of training instead of a race to retrieve his food from the furry rodent. "Tch... that was fun I guess... but now it looked like i'm lost huh.." He sighed, leaning up against a tall pillar like rock. "still pretty hungry too..." He muttered, his stomach growling once more.
[Thread PL: 363,009 | Enlightenment (x16P) Active! PL: 5,808,144! | [UT] Ki Suppression used! Sensed PL: 1,500] "You know, they say the top of this tower holds great power."
A cloaked and hooded figure approached from the trees, his hand raising out of his blue cloak to wave at Fan. The energy the young boy gave off wasn't much compared to some he'd met, but even still, he was far above the average human. The hooded man wondered if it was worth it to test this boy. He needed to prepare himself for the upcoming war with the Mazoku as much as anyone else; did he really have the time on his hands to train yet another student?
We need all the help we can get, he thought to himself.
The cloaked figure lowered his hood, revealing his face to Fan. "Hello. My names Bing. Who might you be?" His grey eyes turned up to the tower Fan was resting on. He knew this place like the back of his hand by now, but he needed to keep the ruse up for just a bit longer. He wanted to see just what kind of man he was speaking with. Was he a brave and kind soul, or a selfish and greedy thief?
"They say you have to climb to the top without the use of your Ki if you want to taste the treasures at the top. Simply latch on and start ascending. Do you want to take the journey with me?"
Fan looked up at the man, taking a few moments to process what Bing had said due to his semi-exhausted state from chasing an animal around whilst simultaneously starving. "Bing huh?... Cool name... Mines Fan Reims..." He replied, continueing to listen to the stranger. "Huh?.. treasure's?.. like gold and jewelery?... Eh.. not interested.." he replied, still somewhat out of breath.
"This tower thing seems kind of fun though... Eh whatever, sure I'll come with ya.." he replied. Then, after a few moments his eyes widened- "WAIT!!... WHAT TOWER" he yelled in shock, quickly turning around to find that the pillar he had been propping himself up on was infact a tower, possibly the one he had set out to search for. His jaw, he turned back towards his visitor, asking- "i-is this it??" He asked a sense of excitement quickly replacing this hunger.
Fan seemed disinterested in the treasure, which was a good sign. Lack of greed was one good mark for him. Perhaps he'd earn a few more on the way up.
Bing's eyes watched Fan critically as the boy studied the base of Korin's tower. Apparently he didn't even know where he was this whole time! The Z-Leader chuckled to himself, walking towards the massive tower, and gripping onto one of the sides tightly. He beckoned Fan to follow along, before hoisting himself up to the next chunk of the immense stone pillar.
"We've got quite a long climb. I hope you brought some snacks; I ran out of food yesterday."
Food.... Bing had reminded Fan of just how hungry he was, causing a small sigh to escape his lips- "Hopefully this "treasure" is a five star meal..." He muttered, his stomach letting out a small growl as he looked up and down the old tower, taking in just how tall it was. A small grin made its way onto Fan's face however, he saw the climb, along with his "handicap" of being hungry as a challenge, one which he was more than happy to accept.
He brushed his hunger to the side and leaped onto the tower, his hands clutching onto its old ledges as he started pulling himself up. "Heh.... I'll be up this tower in no time!" He boasted, chuckleing afterwards as he begun scaling the mighty tower, quickening his pace slightly as to try and catch-up with Bing.
The duo made their way up the tower, their pace quick, but their destination far. It'd be a while before they got to the top; a few hours perhaps, judging by the speed Fan was going, and assuming they made no long stops, of course.
It had been years since Bing had taken the time out to make this climb. He was just a bit weaker than Fan when he'd tried it, and his reward was an audience with the Kami of Earth himself. Bing had become Kami himself soon after, but of course, that time had passed. Maeve, Bing's wife, was Kami instead. She was a good fit for the role; her kindness exceeded what most people could muster.
Bing hoisted himself up a few more rungs, his body barely even feeling the strain as he maneuvered upwards. He'd dealt with much more strenuous training conditions than this by now.
"So," Bing started, "Have you been keeping up with galactic news? They say Planet Namek has a new ruler. You ever heard of Namek?"
He gripped another ledge, pulling himself up once again as he had been for a while now, his stomach growling loudly. He was still tired, but he didn't mind, he was determined to climb this tower within a day at the very least, and so gradually began increasing the speed at which he climbed, albeit making more tired in the long run.
Fan looked over at Bing confusingly. "Namek?... Never heard of it.." He responded, his curiosity piqued slightly by Bings question. "Is it fun there, anything interesting?" He asked, trying to get a bit of information on this weird planet that Bing spoke of.
"Depends on your definition of interesting, I suppose. It's a very peaceful place; not much technology, and the native people there are all monks... Well, most of them."
Bing glanced downwards for a moment. They were fairly high up already. The ground was practically out of sight, but judging by how long it took Bing last time he did this, that meant they weren't even close. He sighed to himself, hoisting up another set of stones, before returning to the conversation.
"They say there's this evil clan among them. Their leader, a fellow named Xylo, got strong enough to kill some of the strongest soldiers in the Saiyan Solar Empire and take over Namek for himself. People think he's gonna come here soon."
He turned his attention to Fan for a moment. The boys grumbling stomach was getting louder now. Maybe it would be a good idea to get some food before his potential new student died of starvation and over-exertion. Bing turned his eyes down at himself, his hand rifling through one of the pouches tied to his belt. After a moment, he plucked out a small green bean.
"Looks like I've got one left... Here, take this!" Bing leaned across the pillar, stretching his hand out towards Fan to offer him the Senzu Bean. The moment Fan accepted, Bing would pull back, and resume climbing. "This thing'll keep you full for a week, and it'll heal up any wounds you have. Pretty useful little veggie if you ask me."
Solar Saiyan Empire? Xylo?, Fan had many questions about what Bing had just explained to him, but was silenced as Bing offered what seemed to be a bean. He reached out, grabbing the small green bean and begun looking at it strangely as he heard Bing's explanation about it. How was this going to fill him up he wondered, throwing the bean into his mouth before taking a small bite out of it. he swallowed it, immediately feeling its effects take place. his power rapidly rose, before being completely restored. His hunger gradually faded as well. he looked at Bing, somewhat surprised that such a tiny bean could do so much. "heh, well would ya look at that?" he said, flexing one of his arms. =that little bean did all this?= he wondered, looking up and down his body curiously. He would then look up at Bing, recalling what he had said earlier about some empire and some world conquering xylophone or something.
=Is this Xylophone guy really that strong?= Wondered Fan, his eyes beginning to gleam at the possibility of such a fighter comeing to earth. Despite naturally being attracted to the idea though, Fan did put some rational thought into the matter. what would happen exactly if some world conquering alien came and decided to enslave, maybe even genocide earths populace?. given how strong some aliens already were (as Fan had seen in some previous threads), Fan felt a twinge of nervousness, which was pretty uncommon for Fan to feel. he'd look up at Bing, asking- "Well? if this Xylophone guy or whatever came and attacked earth, how exactly would we earthlings stand up to him??.. I mean.. i've fought some aliens way out of my league before, they're strong... And one capable of world conquest doesn't seem too appealing.." he'd say, taking notice of Bing's current power level. "...and for someone like yourself, well you'd be instantly destroyed" he'd comment, continuing in his climb up the Tower.
Gira flew through the air, her friend, Kaci on her back. Normally, they wouldn't go out flying like they used to, but since Gira had been using her abilities lately, she had become a lot more confident. Confident enough to even defy the wishes of her mother and Aunt Mary. Gira looked up at Kaci. The teen appeared to be in awe of everything around her. "Wow, its been so long since i've been so high up." Kaci said, clinging to the back of Gira's shirt.
"Yeah, it has. We haven't done this since we were kids." Gira took a moment to admire the scenery as well. When she did, she saw a tall tower in the distance. Incredibly tall, in fact. They were flying at least half a mile off the ground, but this structure was even higher. Kaci noticed it too.
"What's that? Some kind of antenna?"
"I don't think so." Gira examined it as they got closer. It was made of stone, that much she could see. As they got even closer, they could spot two people climbing it. "Hey, Gira. Bet you can't climb to the top." Kaci had that smile on her face that she got when she was trying to get a rise out of Gira.
"Oh, yeah?" The young half-Saiyan asked, considering the challenge. In all honesty, she was pretty sure she could climb it. "I'll tell you what. Not only will I climb it, I bet you five hundred Zeni that i'll beat those two to the top." Gira gave a satisfied smirk. Quick cash, training, and getting to see what was at the top of this tower. Gira could see no way this wouldn't go in her favor.
"Five hundred? Did you see the headstart they have on you?" The blond teen didn't want to take advantage of Gira like that, but the other teen was confident. Gira said nothing, simply staring ahead as they lazily floated through the air in the general direction of the tower. Kaci rolled her eyes. "Fine. But don't get mad when I take all of your money."
"I won't if you won't." Gira smiled slyly. "Ha. ha." Kaci returned her remark with a sarcastic laugh. "Just land."
"As you command, your majesty." Gira landed at the base of the tower, looking up and doing some stretches. "Well, let's do this." Gira took a deep breath, lowered her stance, then jumped as high as she possibly could, latching on to the stone structure with her arms and legs and making her way skywards rung by rung as quickly as possible. Her first task was to catch up to the two climbers.
Bing smirked at Fan as the bean ran through him. It seemed this was the first time he'd ever interacted with the veggie before. Fan was about as fresh to the scene as Bing once was. Only time would tell if that was a blessing or a curse.
The Ex-Kami chuckled at Fan's question, climbing up another rung as he replied. "Well, my friends who've fought him say he's as strong as two Super Saiyans combined, and that's only counting him. He's got some powerful people following him, but with Premier Vi-Poi and the Kami working together, I think we've got a good shot."
The grey-haired man felt a shift in the air. There was another Ki approaching from below. His eyes glanced down, catching glimpse of two girls quickly approaching. "Looks like we've got some company. They're moving quick; wanna race em to the top?"
Without waiting for Fan's response, Bing would release more of his Ki, allowing his speed to triple in seconds! He pulled himself up with immense force, flying up five rungs in an instant. If the other two didn't hurry, Bing would beat them by a mile.
[UT] Ki Suppression altered! New Sensed PL: 6,000!
=huh.. he was holding back?... Tch.. should've guessed= thought Fan, soon sensing the approaching pair of woman as Bing yelled something about a race and rocketed up the tower. He'd get a small grin on his face as he suddenly stopped, gripping the ledge he was on with great force. "Race huh... Bring it!!" He'd yell, flinging himself up the tower useing brute strength, passing a few ledges completely before slowing down and grabbing at the next set of ledges and repeating the motion and flinging himself up once again in hot pursuit of the powered up Bing, forgetting about his talk of super saiyans and ignoring the girls down below.
Gira was scaling the massive tower, taking it a rung at a time. She smirked when she saw that she was catching up to the two other climbers. She didn't really have time to celebrate, though, because the elder of the two suddenly flew five rungs up, widening the gap. "Holy--" Gira snapped out of her surprise, her smirk returning. The Saiyan blood in her veins caused the young hybrid to be excited at this challenge. "Okay, if that's how you want it...!" With a roar of effort, Gira threw herself up the tower, going up three rungs with great speed, though the others still appeared to be faster than her. "Dammit." The teen cursed under her breath, throwing herself skyward even faster this time. "Come on come on come ON!" Gira threw herself again with all her strength, actually managing to barely catch onto the fourth rung up with one arm. She was beginning to catch up, but depending on how high this tower was, it might be too late. She was pretty close to Fan now, but Bing was still pretty far away. Gira wouldn't give up though. Surrender just wasn't in her nature.
Bing chuckled loudly as he bounded from rung to rung with immense speed. It'd been ages since he'd let loose like this! He glanced down at Gira and Fan, a slight frown forming. He was outpacing the others by quite a bit, it seemed. Maybe it'd be best if he slowed down again.
After one final, large leap, he took a short pause, feigning fatigue by breathing extra heavy. He'd give the two of them time to catch up before he continued.
As he waited for the others, he gave a glance upward. They were getting close to the tip now. The bowl-like top to Korin's Tower was barely visible through the clouds. What was normally a day-long journey was cleared in nearly a quarter of the time! These two were quite something for their age.
