It was a bright and sunny day in Big Train’s favorite city. The food capitol of the world, East Capitol. His training with Beryl had finally come to an end and now it was time for him to continue his journey. So after hitching a ride on Arco to the East Capitol, he found himself in his famous diner, SOUL CAFE. Of course he had to get his favorite, chicken parmesan. While eating, he overheard a group of sailor talking about an entity known as the “Water Spirit”. It was a spirit a lot of sailors believed in and gave offers to for safe travel and fair weather.
But these sailor were talking about how the spirit must be mad! The weather on the open seas have been terrible and it was costing a lot of lives. Big Train decided that he couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. He decided he would go to this Water Spirit, whose palace is said to be off the east coast. But how was he going to get down to the ocean floor? So he whipped out his new phone, courtesy of Leona and gave her a call. After explaining the situation and reasoning his case for why he needed to do it before he found her ship, she decided to help him. “Fine, fine, fine. Go to the nearest capsule corp branch and I’ll make her that there’s a new S L double S waiting for you”. Big Train thanked her, he wasn’t sure what a “S L Double S” was but he assumed it would help him out. When he arrived at the Capsule Corp store he found out. The S.L.S.S. was an abbreviation of the Super Life Support System. Which was a life support system suited for use in any atmosphere or pressure.
Now all he needed was a ride out to sea. So after poofing the suit back into capsule form, he headed out towards the docks in the eastern most part of the city. He searched and asked around but not many people are willing to give a free ride to someone as strange looking as Big Train. That is until... “Looking to find the Water Spirit, aye?” an old voice called from behind. Big Train turned around and saw the man. He was old and bent, with long grey hair and an even longer grey beard. “Y-yeah, I am. I’m trying to get to the bottom of whatever is going on”.
The old seadog scratched his chin in thought, “Hmm... When I were a younger lad, the water spirit saved me from certain death. She was beautiful and the sweetest soul I’d ever met. Whatever is going on... it doesn’t sound like her”. He’d look out past Big Train and off to the sea. “Aye, I’ll help ya... But the weather will be bad tonight. So I’m not sure if I can stick around long after ya go under. Take the risk if you’d like, boy”. Big Train didn’t hesitate, “Let’s get going then!” he exclaimed. Soon enough, the two set off for deeper waters in the old sailor's small fishing boat.
Big Train leapt from the seadog's ship and descended down into the depths of the ocean. He kept descending downwards, and downwards. Down past schools of colorful ship and other marine life. It was all very beautiful for Big Train to catch a glimps of another world right under the ocean. As a child he never had many oppertunities to see the ocean, so this was actually quite a special sight for him. Soon enough, he entered the dark areas of the ocean, where barely any sunlight reached. But off in the distance he could see a speck of light.
So after a swimming with great speed, the illumiated structure soon was in view. It was a GIGANTIC palace all lit up. It was almost ALIEN in design, with strange lights adorning it. Lights that had no clear source of power, magic maybe? Big Train didn't give it much thought, in fact he was caught in childlike wonderment as he proceeded closer to the palace. He swam directly inside with no declaration of entrance. Probably not the most proper way to make an introduction to a powerful being. But Big Train was ignorant to most social etiquiscies.
"Miss Water Spirit?" Big Train's voice called out via the built in intercom. His swimming took him deeper into palace, until he reached what seemed to be the end. It was a high and wide ballroom type of space. Up ahead Big Train could make out a few figures and a giant throne, which one of the figures sat upon. There was a loooong blue carpet of woven seaweed that lead straight to the ornate throne. "NO! Your people shall receive no help from me!" a booming and raspy voice filled the room. It was hard to tell at first, but it was definitely feminine. Big Train's curiousity called him deeper until the room. Until he was close enough to make out the figures in detail.
She was beautiful, as the old sailor said. Her skin was as fair as the marble that made her palace, with long blonde hair. The throne she sat in was massive and her body matched it. She must have been at least ten feet tall. Her figure was amazonian like, neat muscles stacked together that didn't betray her womanly figure. But there was something about her, maybe the look on her face that betrayed her outer beauty.
In front of her bowed a young man, probably around Big Train's own age. At least that was the top half of his, the bottom half- wait! Big Train couldn't believe it! The young man was a mermaid, the bottom half of him was a fish tail covered in purplish scales! Big Train probably shouldn't be as surprised as he is, considering his best friend was a 20 foot tall cat-bird. The two weren't alone, however.
The woman on the throne was flank on either side by brolic crustacean men. Two on either side of her, totaling four in all. "B-but please! My people need help!". The apparent water spirit sat at the edge of her seat and barked, "You dare talk to me like that! Watch your town, boy". The mer-lad squeezed his eyes shut, his whole body started to shake, "I WON'T SIT BACK AND WATCH MY PEOPLE DIE!" he roared out impressively. His scream made the water spirit nearly jump out of her throne.
But her expression changed from shock, to anger at the drop of a hat. "Guards... teach this brat some manners!" she said with a wave of her hand. The four guards marched towards the boy like mindless pawns. They would start to beat the boy with the hard shelled fists. Causing the mer-lad to curl up in a ball. This was all Big Train needed to see. Water Spirit or not, she was just a flat out bully! Big Train shot forward like a bullet despite the drag of being underwater.
His shoulder collided with one of the guards, "Run away train!" Big Train would shout as he made contact. "Super Kick!" as his foot made contact with another. "Conviction!" the third fell pray to a massive right hook. "NGH! Suplex!" as he grabbed that last of the four and delivered a spin busting german suplex. And that was it, one shot to all four and they were out. The mer-lad looked up through his fingers as he was still covering his face. Big Train stretched out a hand, which the mer-lad accepted as Big Train helped him off the ocean floor.
"Th-thanks a lot" the mer-boy would speak, still in shock. "Don't mention it, I'm Bi-" but his words were cut off. "Who DARES to enter the great Water Spirit's palace uninvited and goes against MY will?!". Big Train turned to face her with a sigh, "I was just about to say, I'm Big Train. Ya damn bully!". Pain crossed the water spirit's face, exaggerating the sharpness of Big Train's words, "A bully, me? No, I just demand RESPECT! These are my waters, these are my oceans and you must follow MY rules!". Big Train shook his head, "I was told you were just and wise, but you're just another corrupt bad guy" there was a hint of disappointment in Big Train's voice.
"A bully like you shouldn't make the rules!" he shouted as he pointed a finger towards the ocean queen. "Have you come to my palace in an attempt to overthrow my reign, little human?" the water spirit spit out the words like venom. "No... I originally came here to ask why you were giving the sailors such a hard time... But it seems like you're making everyone's life hell" he would glance over his shoulder to the mer-boy. "Oh? The sailors... That's simple. They haven't been giving me enough offers, they think little trinkets will afford them safe passage?! Hah!" the water spirit snarled.
Big Train looked around, on either sides of the massive room were mounds of gold and valuable things. "Don't you have enough?" Big Train asked. "Enough is not a thing, human!" the water spirit smirked. Big Train shook his head, "I can't let you hurt anymore people..." he didn't know if this was the right thing to do... but it felt like it was. "You're standing on the tracks!" he said with confidence as he shifted into a fighting stance, "And you're about to get ran over!". The Water Spirit stared at him for but a moment before bursting out into laughter, "You think you can stop ME?! I am the water spirit, my power is great!". With a flick of her hand, Big Train was suddenly flung through the water as if hit by an imposing wave. His body flew through the hard marble of the palace and out into the surrounding area.
Luckily Capsule Corp makes good products, his suit was left with only a crack running through the glass bubble in front of his face. He had to be more careful though, the suit wouldn't be able to take as much punishment as his body can. Big Train looked around, the area underneath him was strange... it was black and liquid-like. It seemed out of place next to such a beautiful palace. But there was no time for that, as the water spirit came rushing from the hole in the side of the palace that Big Train's body made. She was now wielding a vicious looking trident, of course. "I am a god! No mortal could stand to my might!" she said before thrusting forward with the points of the trident.
Big Train's white aura would instantly burst to life as he caught the points of the trident with his two hands, stopping the middle point short. "I'm no mere mortal! I'm a Zen School graduate!" the water spirit, while strong, didn't compare to Beryl. The Water Spirit stared in awe as Big Train used the queen's own weapon to spin her around and throw her directly into the side of the palace. He wouldn't stop there, following through with a "CONVICTION!" as he punched the water spirit through the palace wall and back inside. She would crash into the ground and skid to the mer-boy's feet, fin?
The mer-boy would cheer but would be cut short by the water spirit making her way back to her feet. "You're pretty strong..." the water spirit would say. "Then I will deal with you the same way I dealt with that damn Water Spirit... With the Demon Ichor!". Big Train had no time to react as a black tendril grabbed him from behind and pulled him into the black slime that was on the ocean floor outside of the palace. Big Train knew it was suspicious as it consumed him. The false water spirit giggled with glee as all the hope drained from the mer-boy's face, "No one will ever stop me, boy. You go and tell your people that, tell everyone that my reign is forever!" her evil cackling would continue as she floated up to peer out of the massive hole Big Train's conviction made.
But Big Train's power signature didn't fade, it was rising! It kept skyrocketing, going higher and higher. Reaching a total that was at least three times his original power. The pure force of his power level exploded the black slime that contained him, scattering it all around the ocean floor around the palace. "Huh?!" the fake queen would exclaim. "How? I was told... ARGH!" out of frustration she would charge Big Train again, hoping to catch him off guard. But as she drew near Big Train would simply side step her attack and clothes line her directly into the ground with a shout of "Train Crash!". The force of the impact would create a crater that the fake water spirit lied in. Then Big Train felt it, a massive power directly behind him. It was different, magical. He turned around to see her for the first time. The REAL Water Spirit. She truly was beautiful, her skin was covered in fine pale blue scales. She looked almost as if she was water.
With a wave of a hand the false water spirit was encased in light as her illusion faded. It revealed her as she really looked, she was a very plump woman. Her skin was a very faint crimson red, it looked almost brown, and her skin looked very leathery and bumpy. With a few visible warts here and there. Almost like a toad woman. Her hair stood straight up and came together like a fin, almost in the style of a mohawk. Her face was caked in makeup, almost as if trying to hide the leathery nature of his skin. The toad woman crawled out of the crater and whimpered, "Please, have mercy" as she scurried away. It seemed that today she would find it, as the water spirit allowed her to crawl away. "Thank you for releasing me, young warrior" the Water Spirit spoke in a sweet voice that seemed to echo from all around the ocean.
"It was really no problem, hah. I'm just trying to help". "It seems like certain forces are gathering... but no matter. As a reward, I will grant you one favor within my power". By this point the mer-lad had swam up along side Big Train, staring in amazement. "P-please, help me save my people. We are constantly getting attacked by a monster" the young merman pleaded. Big Train nodded, "Can you help his people?". The Water Spirit's eyes flashed white, "I'm afraid the beast is not under my domain... it is far too powerful for me to banish from here. There is a power that protects it" she said with regret in her voice. The mer-lad slouched over, visibly defeated. "However..." the Water Spirit started, "It would make a good challenge for you, Big Train" she finished with a smile.
Big Train grin and raised a clenched fist, "Yeah! I'll help you, man!". The merman's face lit up again. "But- that still leaves you with a favor, young Big Train". Big Train pondered, he didn't have much care for material things. I mean, he loved his hover bike but that was mostly because it was the first thing he ever bought with his own money. Then it came to him, "Well... I would like to find my parents". The Water Spirit frowned, "Foresight is not a specialty of mine, but I know of someone who could help you. In the north, near Mount Frappe, there is an old woman who specializes in finding lost things". Big Train half smiled, "Thanks!" before turning to the merman. "Wait" the Water Spirit called out. She pluck out a single hair from her head and held it forward. As it floated from her palm and towards Big Train, it started to become larger and change. When it reached him is was an ornate staff. "Take this, it is imbued with some of my power". And with that, the two parted ways with the Great Water Spirit. Heading towards the mer-boy's home.
