So it seems that a lot of people still haven't heard the news that the release date for Dragon Ball Fusions got pushed up a whole month. It's actually been out for quite a while, with Gamestop selling the game a whole week before release.
Having gotten an English version of the game myself, I've noticed that maybe spending a bit more time on the game would have been a good idea. This thing is LOADED with translation errors!
Early on in the game, I've noticed parts in the dialogue scenes where the characters will just stop in mid sentence and move onto the next bit of dialogue. There are also quite a few character profiles which are misgendered and refer to characters as He / She, when their actual gender is listed differently. This thankfully only seems to apply to pre-made OC's, and not the official canon characters.
But the biggest flaw comes with the daily quizzes you can take in Hercule City. The poor translation attempt makes some of these quizzes impossible to guess right, even for an experienced Dragon Ball Fan.
One such question asks who Goku and Vegeta fuse into. The quiz offers both Vegito and Gogeta as possible answers. But the correct answer is Gogeta. I assume because they use the dance, and the game focuses around the dance?
Another question asks you which of the listed characters can not use instant transmission. Among this list include Android 18 and Master Roshi. Now I was pretty darn sure that 18 has never used instant transmission before (and was very confused as to when and how Roshi learned it), so I picked her. Apparently that was the wrong choice!
Yet another question I noticed was translated improperly was what kind of waves are necessary to activate the great ape transformation. Naturally i thought it was either Blutz or Brute waves. Turns out, the game thinks that it's "veggie" waves and that blutz / brute isn't even an option!
Aside from the horrible translation quality, the game looks beautiful for a chibi style, and mixing and matching fusions is always entertaining. The only problem with gameplay is that it does tend to get repetitive after a while. Especially when you're grinding for energy, or hunting for a rare character to add to your team and Turles / Uub keep wanting to pop up. I've already got you guys, now piss off!
So with those complaints out of the way. What did / do you guys think of Dragon Ball Fusions?
