Habana sighed as she reclined inside the Eclipse, it was late, Jala was resting in the front seat of the ship Habana could see the top part of her mother's hair from her own seat and from what she could tell Jala was likely already fast asleep considering the lack of light from the front seat. She could see off a bit further away Gin and Akushi were relaxing near the pod’s it was good to see that at least for the moment the demon hybrid wasn’t doing his absolute best to drive Gin mad. Today had been a long day, she’d finally gotten a chance to confront one of the traitors but much to her annoyance reason and logic all pointed to NOT immediately breaking him in half, the situation was just a bit too problematic for such swift action. It did not however make it any easier for her to restrain herself. Habana knew however that she needed to set a good example for Gin and Akushi for them to see that sometimes you needed to look at the whole situation before acting. Her mother had tried very hard to hammer that idea into her head and probably to the older saiyan’s frustration it had taken a VERY long time for it to actually sink in, truthfully it probably had only REALLY sunk in once she’d been named Commander and suddenly had a mountain of responsibility hoisted onto her. It was a bit rough dealing with it all for the most part solo as Habana was just a bit too proud to go to Zucc for help, not having many proper ‘friends’ made things rough, in reality she probably should have talked to Pin about it all a bit more but again pride had stepped in the way. Pin was a friend most certainly one of her closest, but he was also more or less her subordinate, revealing her weaknesses in her work to Pin felt wrong. Not long ago however she’d gotten a call and afterwards she’d realized that all along she had someone that she could have talked to who was pretty entirely distant from the situation. Maeve. Her friendship with the draconic demoness was a strange one to be certain, almost all of there interaction had essentially been negative. They had met on opposite ends of a literal war and there next conversation had been one in which Habana had revealed the hand she had played in the death of Maeve’s husband. And yet they were friendly, certainly the Bing situation had done some damage but Habana hoped her honesty and regret over the situation were enough to at least leave the option for them to remain friendly. Habana turned her scouter over in her hands, perhaps she should give Maeve a call now, it was a bit late but Maeve didn’t necessarily seem the ‘early to bed’ type. “Video call Maeve Rakshasa ” Habana said making her decision as she plugged the scouter into a port on the Eclipse. Now she just had to hope that the demoness would actually pick up.

It was late. Darkness covered the world below and the stars were hanging high above the mystic lookout. The Kami-to-be: Maeve had been sitting and meditating late into the night. The heavily pregnant demoness was having a hard time sleeping so she was doing her best to just sit and clear her mind. She let out a soft sigh as the chill of the night wind blew past her. After giving a little shudder from being roused from her meditative state: the demoness' golden eyes slowly opened. Her vision slowly adjusted to the darkness as she looked up to the stars above. It was in that clarity returned to her thoughts allowing her to wonder about her friends off world. First she thought of Kaula. The saiyan princess was tragically killed from some unknown force leaving a void in the universe where she used to be. What was her mother doing? How was she handling it? She hoped she was okay. Next, the demon hybrid Zerori crossed her mind. The last Maev heard from her was a few months ago when the dragoness brought the news that she was pregnant to her attention. While Zerori was supportive initially, the demonic saiyans pulled away and closed herself off after Maeve found out about her hand in Bing's 'death.' Little did Maeve know however, that she too fell to the same force that ended Kaula's life. She wasn't hiding, she died trying to rectify her mistakes. The last person she thought of was...
~BZZZT~ "Dial it up and know we got this!" ~BZZZT~ ~BZZZT~ "Time to show some skin!" ~BZZZT~ ~BZZZT~ "Hearts laid bare... But I don't care..." ~BZZZT~ ~BZZZT~ "Baby, it' a rush of pure adrenaline!" ~BZZZT~
Maeve blinked twice, reaching into her pocket to pull out a large touch screen phone. The vibrating device flashed on the screen alerting her to the incoming video call from the very person she was thinking about.
"Habana?"
She gasped before fumbling with the device. Her clawed fingers delicately traced over the "ACCEPT" button before the image of the saiyan commander was projected before her in the form of a virtual holoscreen. "I've never seen it do this..." She uttered, clearly unaware with what her fancy phone could do. She poked the image causing it to distort lightly before looking into the projection of Habana's eyes. "Habana? Can you hear me?" She asked, tilting her head lightly.

It was a tense for moments while Habana waited for Maeve to pick up the call, there last talk had been… rocky at best, ultimately she’d still felt that they were, despite the strangeness of their interactions, essentially friends, it was why she’d decided to call Maeve after all, but there was always a chance that perhaps Maeve would be unwilling to pick up, perhaps she’d be just a bit too worried it would be MORE bad news, that she’d been involved in the death of someone else close to her. Thankfully the situation was quite a bit different from that, she wanted to discuss the Riku situation with someone who lacked a particularly large stake in the outcome.
Before Habana could begin to worry further the call synched up as Maeve accepted it, she’d gone for a video call mostly because it felt a bit more personal, the closest to a face to face conversation she could accomplish while they were literally worlds apart, it seemed however that Maeve was not entirely aware of all the functionality of her phone as she appeared and sounded genuinely confused by what it was the device was doing.
The virtual Maeve’s poked at the air for Habana but she could assume her friend was attempting to interact with her own hologram “Yes I can hear you Maeve, and see you as well. It’s good to see you again after so long. I had wanted to have a proper face to face conversation with you again for a long time but unfortunately events have constantly conspired to make that a bit too dangerous.” Habana said with a sigh/
“How have you been since our last call? “ Habana inquired, she’d work her way into talking about her own problems later on, first she was curious about Maeve’s current state, the dragoness was still presumably with child, Habana wondered how long a demon-dragon and human hybrid child pregnancy would last?

Maeve cut a warm smile as she tilted her head a bit. "Heh...I appreciate your concern Habana. The baby is coming along slowly but surely." She stood from her meditative pose with some difficulty to fully show off her large tummy. She blushed all the way to her scaly pointed ears. "It's been about 5 months...I've passed the halfway point it seems." She said patting her stomach before letting out a genuine giggle. Her headfins flagged up and down a bit in her sudden embarrassment but she shook it off. "Also, there were a few hiccups but...I'm taking the steps needed to become Kami. This place I'm in is the lookout. I don't know if you can see it though." She said turning behind her to look at the series of tiles stretching across the half dome. She paused a bit however as she thought of the meeting where she made her declaration and the sudden reveal of an old face. Habana would be able to see the clear frown form on the demoness' lips as she turned to face the hologram once more. "...He was there."

This was a curious new side of Maeve that Habana was getting to see a genuinely relaxed and cheerful version of the women with whom she shared a strange friendship, in their previous encounters Habana had seen Maeve ready and excited for battle, then as the battle drew longer she saw the dragoness’ fury as Habana refused to fall before her time and time again though if Habana was honest she’d very nearly been beaten quite a few times that fight.
Then she had seen Maeve at a low point, with all the weight of her pregnancy and the death of Bing weighing heavily on her shoulders combined with her learning that Habana and Zerori had played a part in the battle that had lead to Bing’s death, this side of Maeve was an entirely more pleasant one than that though part of Habana held a fondness for the battle ready warrior side she’d seen back during the invasion, with any luck she’d get a chance to see that part of Maeve again one day though with luck without quite as high stakes.
“That’s good to know, do you know how long it will be until it is born? I believe saiyans and humans share a roughly similar gestation period but I’m not exactly sure how your side of things affects the whole process “ Habana questioned with an amused grin, perhaps it would be faster? That would be a bit of a kaisend for the warrior to have the worst bits of having a child done and over quick.
And as well Maeve was working to take the position Bing had held just as she had mentioned during the last call, she’d been unsure then but it seemed that her resolved had strengthened enough to move forward “Another good thing to hear, I am unsure what the posiition actually means as even as far as the Empire’s records go there is little concrete information on what the ‘Guardian’ does. But a position of power and responsibility is good, it helps you set yourself on a path.”
Habana reclined in her seat a bit not enough to let herself drift out of frame for Maeve but just enough to get comfortable, she blinked a few times as Maeve spoke her next words however unsure exactly what Maeve meant, perhaps she had missed part of her statement? “Who?” Habana said returning to a more upright position, Maeve had sounded and now she could see looked somber once again. Who could she have seen that would put her in such a state? Habana wracked her mind for people that fit the bill but came up with none that made any sense.
Though one thought, one of the ‘unlikely’ ones lingered, the saiyan girl she had met mentioned a name that had put Habana off until they had segwayed into a different topic. She’d mostly just written it off as a coincidence then but if the girls own story was true...

Maeve's headfins lowered as she broke her gaze. Her eyes squeezed shut as she tried to fight back the sudden rush of emotion that threatened to overcome her. She couldn't help but recall the poignant memory of what WAS her fiance lashing out against a child. He seemed so vicious, furious, and crazed. It was as if he had just scraped his way out of hell. Her brow furrowed while she let out a wince as the scar on her hand began to burn burn. It was but a taste of the pain Bing must have been suffering. Her golden slit-eyes slowly opened as she looked back up to the hologram before her. She inhaled some air through her nose as if to give her the strength to make her reveal.
"...I saw him, Habana. I saw my Bing."
She let the heavy words hang in the air for a moment. Her gaze locked with the amethyst hues of the half blood commander as if she were trying to gauge her reaction. In the back of her mind she felt Habana may have already known. After all: the vast amount of 'machines' the mortals built in their time alone could now rival the old magics of the demon realm so perhaps a form of necromancy wasn't outside of their control. The off-worlders did seem to have better 'machines' and Kaula did say that people have been brought back in the past. Could the queen have brought Bing back herself?
"I'm not sure how, but Bing is alive." She repeated, more firm and confident this time as if Habana would discredit her assertion. "He seemed...Different though, I couldn't feel his presence and his body was adorned in a strange armor. He concealed half of his face with a mask and one of his eyes was blaring red with it's glow. He looked monstrous, like he was a..." She paused, strength fading from her tone as she looked down to her clawed hands.
She was trembling...
When did her heart start hammering in her chest?
"...Like he was a demon. A demon forged from metal and fueled by hatred..."

Habana waited patiently as whatever it was that Maeve had to tell her was clearly taking it’s tole on her, the way her friend’s head fins twitched and generally moved seemed to react to her emotional state in much the same way a saiyan’s tail might, unless one had fine control of the appendage it was not uncommon for a saiyans tail to whip about when they were angered, or droop while sad. Habana blinked however as Maeve spoke up, initially she had assumed that Maeve had misspoke somehow or that she had simply misheard what she had said because it sounded an awful lot like she had said she’d seen Bing.
Before Habana could ask for clarification Maeve spoke up again already providing it and to Habana’s confusion she once again asserted that Bing was in fact alive and that he had been near her, however by her admission something felt wrong about Bing her description was initially quite odd to Habana and all Habana could think of was her brief conversation with the girl Arias.
She’d claimed to receive orders from ‘Bing’ a ‘strangely armored’ Bing as Maeve put it could fit that bill if he had somehow disguised himself as a Empire officer perhaps? Then she delivered her full feelings on what he had been like ‘a demon forged from metal and fueled by hatred’ it made Habana cringe slightly as her mind reeled with possibilities NONE of which were good.
Had anyone actually recovered Bing’s body?
Habana had sort of just assumed it would be handled by one of the warriors that stood with him or that it had simply been destroyed in the battle or otherwise buried in the wreckage that the battle had likely caused, but in theory if it DID still exist perhaps… perhaps someone had acquired it and reanimated it as an Android of some sort, an attempt to use the power of a warrior as powerful as Bing Gan.
It was frankly a bit terrifying to think of Bing’s power at anyone’s disposal, the best case scenario was that it was JUST his body and none of his power, though even still the husk of Bing Gan being out and about was a horrifying thought even if it did not pose a physical threat. “I… I don’t know what to say Maeve.. I think you might be right, at least in some way, a saiyan girl I encountered a little bit ago made a vague reference to having encountered someone named Bing but at the time I chose to dismiss it as just an unfortunate coincidence of the universe…”
“But now with you backing up the idea… I hate to push further on this but did you actually interact with him at all? I hate to say it but there is a chance someone might have taken his body from Kanassa and reanimated it as a cyborg style Android, Im not even sure if it would properly BE Bing anymore or... “ Habana sighted visibly uncomfortable with having to say the next part “or just essentially a machine puppeting his body.”

Maeve shook her head while a frown played on her lips at the very thought of what Habana had suggested. "I didn't get much of a chance to speak with him. He swooped in, assaulted an offworlder child and left as fast as he came." She verbally recounted her encounter before frowning, and looking to the ground. "What sort of foul creature could give life to a deceased body? What type of black magic would be required? I..." She paused, holding her hand up revealing a scar where her rune of promise used to be.
"I know he was dead...At least for a time. Could someone really have overtaken his form?" She asked question after question as she looked back up to Habana. "If so, do you know...If we could find them? I know you have your duties and I know the Empire and the people of Earth are at the brink of war but...You seem knowledgeable and..." She bit her lip, looking aside. "...You're one of the only friends I have left." She admitted, headfins once again drooping dejectedly as she thought of how both Zerori and Kaula were gone.
She ran a hand through her ruby locks before sighing. "Damn...I'm sorry, I'm sure you didn't want to get caught up into all of this when you called."
