The high-resting sun shone brightly above the Southern Islands, in particular the island that Yamaga called home. Atop one of the large hills of the region, the young man was stretching out his legs in a man-made clearing. Trees long cleaved by training exercises had been cleared and placed through the area for an impromptu training area. It was no dojo or dedicated training space, but it kept the wildlife from stumbling in while the halfbreed worked. As the stretches brought Yamaga lower and had the man performing a slow splits, his gaze was toward the grass beneath him.
"One... two... three."
Dirt shifted as the three was followed with Yamaga pushing himself off of the ground with both arms and into the air about six feet, legs coming back and beneath him mid-air to allow a proper landing almost instantly. Eyes turned forward as the man's arms came up in a mock fighting stance, with his left arm shifting into a more passive and back position as the man rose up on the same side's leg, bending his right leg. While his striking wasn't outright terrible, the man's kicking was the focus of all his martial arts to the degree that it was how most of his Ki strikes were carried out. Once bent, the man's tail shifted out from its coil around his waist, angling through the air behind Yamaga to achieve the balance he sought. Having a stance of such height was easily feasible for most Ki-using warriors, but his tail did the rest of the work to make it just about flawless. Having openings in his current form was to be expected, the man's brows furrowing as he shifted his upper half slightly to the side to better orient his forward right arm toward his "target".
The target in question was a boulder that Yamaga had pulled from the ground in his late teenage years from the crater formed by his pod, the rock made of tough enough metal ore that even through the years it had so far survived as a training object. Brows shifting from furrowed to aggressive slants, the Hybrid let out a slow breath to perform what the announcers on the televisions called "centering". Height, closeness, and the closed positioning of his arms meant that Yamaga's mobility all game from below. Training on a live Human target hadn't been possible to practice much of his striking and blocking, but there had been ways to work on his defensive armwork. One in particular was a large log nearby with many metal beams sticking from it, much akin to ancient training devices, had been quite useful. But today wasn't a day to work on personal skill... it was one to work on Yamaga's power. And with all the effort he was pouring into preparing his stance and zoning in, it was thrown away in an instant as he achieved a cleared mind.
Focus... and you can do it. Focus... and you can do it.
Carefully lowering his right foot to the grassy earth beneat him, Yamaga fully centered himself forward toward the boulder. The man's brows furrowed in anger, both arms parting as they went skyward with their palms open toward the heavens. There had been many who styled attacks similar to this when gathering massive amounts of Ki, but it was only a misdirection in this halfbreeds case. The dark blue Ki surged out in an erupting show of what to some would be quite the Power Level but a foolish move to others.
One.
The earth shifted beneath his right foot as it came up, his tail shifting behind him in a practiced motion to ensure perfect balance. Bending his right knee and bringing the leg closer toward his left to center his body's natural gravity, Yamaga continued staring at the boulder. Ki glowing obscenely in such a flashy demonstration, he felt like some idiot playing out an attack for more than what it was... but strategy was key to being a powerful fighter as much as raw power. The flickering of a Ki orb sparked to life in an orb roughly six inches in width, humming as it held in place beneath his foot.
Two.
Slowing down gave clarity when training one's techniques, the normally faster pacing of his attack being so drastically slowed allowing the man to see flaws with the stance. If he were to perhaps position his leg behind him, then that'd further eliminate the chance of the orb being sighted. But changing a technique after having trained it for what may have been a year now wasn't something Yamaga had time nor expertise in doing alone. The ground beneath him shifted, blades of grass pushing away from the one leg still touching it as his Ki surged for the slightest of moments before Yamaga leaned forward. Tipping for the slightest of moments and slowly moving his arms ahead of him rather than just above, he shot forward and toward the boulder much akin to a bullet from a gun.
Three!
Barreling forward across a gap of nearly thirty feet, Yamaga half-flipped forward in an instant once flying, his leg coming from behind and over as it straightened into a kick-like angle. Feet-first and properly sailing toward the target, the Ki orb broke away as Ki coated his entire form almost somewhat like a barrier as he sailed ahead. Gritting his teeth, Yamaga's vision went from clear to tinted with a dark blue haze as the arrow-like coating fully enveloped him mere feet from the boulder.
"Focus and you can do it!!!"
The boulder finally came into contact with the Ki-reinforced attack, Yamaga's foot smashing into the dead center of a boulder roughly ten feet tall, six feet across, and six feet thick. The surface held for the slightest of moments, the man's teeth gritting as his body pushed more Ki in an attempt to force himself forward. With the extra push, the Ki finally began to strike home as the boulder split around the point of impact, the rocky surface crumbling as it was pushed inward and rocky flakes splintered outward. Only the surface at first, but the rock was shoved harder and harder until only seconds after impact a good five inches were broken in. At last, the rock stopped giving way as it seemed to clutch Yamaga's entire foot within it, the man's Ki glimmering away briefly as the shimmering of the Ki vanished from sight all too abruptly as the attack ended.
"Tch... it's not like I designed it for this anyway! But still... so weak! Tempo Raiser!"
The declaration of the attack he'd brought refined as a sort of "signature move" for so much of his life was met as his left leg shifted from its straighted position atop the rock. Having to turn his body leftward slightly to gain the full range as he seemed to pivot off the entrapped right leg, Yamaga's left leg erupted with a coating of brightened Ki and hiding the limb entirely within. Turning his hips for extra power, the man used the technique in an impromptu way as the foot cleaved through the rock along an arc above his right leg, Yamaga twisting as the power of the angered kick seemed to smash through with the more direct method of transferal. This attack cleaved clear through the stone's middle point, pushing through all six feet of boulder as he twirled out to the side to land on his left knee and right hand. To avoid sliding, the man clutched a handful of the thick jungle grass, the jerk only uprooting some of it as he came to a halt.
Groaning stone sounded loud enough to draw his gaze, the man frowning as the rock's upper half sat touching the ground on the left side, mostly slid off the lower half. There were times where Yamaga had experienced what seemed like a jump in his power level, but to expect it to trigger out of the sheer frustration of a training exercise wasn't at all what he wanted to think could happen. Cautiously rising to his feet, thankfully not feeling any pain thanks to the Ki having done a lot of the work of pushing through sheer rock, his tail whisked around lazily behind him as Yamaga's right hand moved to his hip and the left rose to gently scratch at the mass of hair atop his skull.
"I guess I might still be able to use it... but man, what's up with my luck recently?"
Turning fully and walking over to the split boulder, Yamaga's hand left his head to join the other by resting on the opposite hip. Carefully sliding his foot under the lip of the stone, Yamaga lifted the new and smaller portioned boulder with some relative ease. With his left leg holding it up, he carefully raised into the air using his Ki until it was perfectly aligned with the lower half once more. The man's gave a dismissive sigh before bringing the right leg up and against the side of the stone, giving it a shove-like kick to slide it back into place atop the lower half. It didn't slide very far, thanks to the lack of effort, but it at least righted the stone atop its lower half enough that it didn't lay in the grass.
At this rate, I'll need to find a new training rock... but the day isn't done yet![/ul][/ul][/ul]
