"Hoo-Wee! The sun is out somethin' fierce today!" The melodic tone of the ever pleasant matriarch: Lemon Shrimp filled the warm summer air as she stepped unto the porch of the family ranch. With the grace of an angel and feet as light as a dancer's: Lemon practically glided outside while effortlessly balancing a tray of icy cool lemonade. "Kami above! It's hot as the dickens! Y'all could probably cook an egg out here!" Lemon said with a sweet smile and a happy little giggle as she used her free hand fan herself off. As she walked on the porch she would look out to the fields, her smile only grew as she saw her husband and her boys busily working. Even under the sun they worked as hard as ever. With another giggle the older woman would continue on taking a seat in her rocking chair at the corner of the porch. "They really are somethin' huh?" She said looking to her companion. Sitting beside her was the demoness Maeve clad in a gorgeous yellow dress and some sleek form fitting pants. Her brow was knit and her arms were crossed as a soft little frown played upon her lips. "Why the sour face sug?" Lemon asked before offering the dragoness a glass. "Huh? O-Oh it's nothing really..."Maeve spoke, headfins perking in alarm as her sulk was acknowledged. She met the older mortal's expectant gaze and couldn't help but fidget underneath it. "Well...Actually...I feel like I should be out there..." She looked up outstretching her hand to the field. "Helping them! I don't need to be sitting down! Especially if you are paying me for a full days work! I know I'm pregnant but I'm not suddenly helpless!" She said looking back to Lemon. "Judging from this morning I'd say not. I heard you in the bathroom missy." Lemon said with a knowing little smirk. "You heard that?" Maeve's headfins drooped in shame as she set her gaze to the floor. "Yeah. Yeah I did." Lemon smiled. "It's nothin' to be ashamed of though darlin' it's a beautiful thing! We don't need you to get all tuckered out in the sun while you've got a bun in your oven!" She said pointing to Maeve's stomach. "W-Well given my blood I actually enjoy the hea-" "That's not the point Maeve. The point is: Y'all need to take it easy and don't y'all be worryin' about the pay. If anythin' treat it as a gift. In celebration to the gift y'all are bringing to the world." She smiled, taking Maeve's hand while giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Just the start too, y'all are part of our family too. That big ol' sister of yours ain't the only family you've got." She chuckled imagining Bridget standing on the front porch, hunching down to look into the home. "I appreciate that Mama Shrimp. I really do." Maeve smiled looking down. "I just...Hate feeling so helpless..." She sighed shaking her head. After a moment though, she couldn't help but reflect on what Lemon said previously. "Wait... Did you say Bridget came here?"

Not far from the front porch, a bizarre shiver appeared in the air. Maeve, with her demonic attunement to magic, might well be able to detect that this was directly caused by sorcery. Those who were less familiar with such aspects of supernatural power would likely guess as much very shortly there-after. It wasn't usually typical for the air to separate and form a hole to somewhere that was most definitely not the Shrimp Ranch, after all. The ripple's motion increased into a line-shaped void, which then folded inwards, forming a diamond in the air, revealing a rather dignified library area, albeit one intended for someone not of human proportions. The owner quickly became apparent, as a large, rather familiar form stepped through the hole
The massive black tree-man bowed deeply, as the hole in reality closed, the spell ending. "Greetings, Maeve. It has been a long time." He felt a bit awkward, if he was honest. The last time he had seen the woman, he had been standing over Vegeta, a genocidal attack in his hand, and rage in his heart. He was here for a reason, however. Maeve had been the second in command to Bing, and she deserved to know what had happened to him. In addition, he suspected, she might have been closer to him.
There was a flicker of familiar power about her, just the faintest spark. If he hadn't gotten familiar with the feeling of children by being around so many pregnant women and their mates recently, he might not have felt it. He wasn't even sure whether it was there, or his mind was playing tricks on him. Still, he suspected that Maeve and Bing might have been... very close. Putting that aside, though, he exhaled. "I come here with... unusual news. Up until recently, I was in the Afterlife. I returned shortly after the death of Kaula and Reikiko on Vegeta. Kaula foolishly challenged Zuccetta, and Reikiko attempted to fight as well. Both were killed by a new SSE fighter. I believe, before she died, Kaula ascended to the same level Zuccetta did. She was still killed."
It was a heavy statement. He knew Maeve was well acquainted with Kaula, and she likely knew of Reikiko. The implications of them both dying to one fighter was terrifying, and what made it even worse was the source of this fighter. He closed his eyes for a moment. How to put this...
"You were on Vegeta, yes? I imagine... he must have been hiding from you. That, or the queen kept him away. Rei imparted this to me, that I might inform the Z-Fighters." Walker's fists clenched with an audible crack. He had to just come out and say it, pussyfooting around it would not help anything. "The new fighter is an android, a cyborg made from a human augmented with robotic parts and controlled by the SSE." A single tear, made of boiling hot sap, ran down his face, and the tree wiped it away angrily. "That human is Bing. The Queen enslaved him and has turned his body against us. I don't know about his mind, perhaps that can be saved... but Bing Gan is alive. He is also the current greatest threat to Earth." There. It was done. Bracing himself, he waited for a response.

Maeve stood up as soon as Walker approached through his magical portal. She frowned lightly, summoning Fateurn by her side until Walker spoke. Each and every word that escaped his wooden throat slammed against Maeve, as if it were a brick that was hurled at her. Her headfins twitched every which way as her emotions flared over all the different stimulants that were being presented to her. Relief. Sorrow. Rage. Regret. Confusion. They all came at her at once and she didn't know what to think. Even with all the runes drawn upon her form to keep chaos at bay she still felt helpless under Walker's words.
Were they truths? Fictitious? Was he just trying to manipulate her and play her for a fool? Was he trying to console her by telling her these terrible truths? She couldn't understand his motive.
No...
No... He had to be lying.
"Maevey..." Lemon called out to the dragoness. She stood beside her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "...Maeve... What's this Big Ol' Weed talkin bout? What's wrong? You're shaking..." She said, noticing Maeve's light tremble. Anger contorted unto her normally soft, round face as she shot a glare at the tree man. "I don't know what yer game is but if y'all ere gonna upset Maeve I've got a pair of clippers and a rake with y'all's name on it." She huffed putting a hand on her hip while leaning into a pointed finger.
"Lemon..." Maeve shrugged her shoulder freeing it from her grip. "Take the boys and go inside...Please." Her tone was quiet but there was an edge of seriousness to it. She stepped forward, her head tilted downward in a way that left her gaze obscured by her ruby bangs.
"But Maeve...Y'all shouldn't be getting all worked up with the bab-"
"Please Lemon." Maeve spoke, cutting her off. "Just...Go."
Lemon bit her lip as she looked upon the demoness she saw as her own before she took a step back. "Boys. Come on in for a bit." She called out to the rest of the Shrimp clan who were dutifully working out in the fields. "Maeve... Y'all be careful..." She said, giving Walker a look before reluctantly stepping away.
Maeve waited for the door to close before finally looking up to Walker.
"Is your hatred really so vast..." She snarled through gritted teeth and glowing eyes. "That you must invent fantasy to pair with tragedy? Do you earnestly expect me to believe such an outlandish accusation?!" She shouted, power booming around her as she clenched over the grip of her feared blade. "You cannot poison my heart with your foul words. If you think you can sway me to believe that Vegeta needs to be destroyed, you are sorely mistaken."
She pointed Fateburn towards the tree as her brow furrowed in rage. "Either speak the truth or leave. I do not wish to deal with the foul mire seeping from your mouth."

The tree took a half-step back as Lemon gestured at him. He was tempted to explain, but it seemed that there wouldn't be a chance. Although, really, a pair of clippers and a rake wouldn't do very much to him. Still, now wasn't the time to engage in one of those human "Sausage measuring" contests. He still didn't understand why having a larger piece of breakfast food would make someone superior. It was one of those things that nobody seemed willing to explain to him. Presumably it was merely an idiom, not literal, but he didn't really understand the connotation.
Shuffling slightly, he waited as the other woman was sent inside with the children, watching some rather confused people file past him, and the door shutting behind them. This did not feel right. He had expected a poor response, but this was worrying.
As Maeve spoke, Walker slowly stepped back, then stepped back again, arms falling loosely to his side. What was she SAYING? Did she really believe this was some sort of ridiculous trick to get them to aid him in re-attempting that ill-thought out plan? That made no sense! "The truth? I have said nothing but! I made no mention of destroying Vegeta as a result of this! That would be the last thing from my mind!" His hands swept wide, almost pleading.
"Rei has no reason to lie, and if the new SSE android is truly based off Bing, he may still be alive to some degree. If it's destroyed, we lose all hope of returning him to humanity without him having to be revived!" This couldn't happen. He couldn't have yet another potential avenue of hope snuffed out just because they refused to see the truth. Hands clenching, the tree slammed his fists into his thighs. "I don't care what you think of me, but for Bing's sake, I need Earth to take action. I cannot possibly fight the SSE alone, and if he's fighting with them, I doubt he will come quietly. I can't..."
His fists clenched, and he looked away from Maeve. His voice had started to crack in desperation, and his shoulders were trembling. "Bing, Kaula, Rei... they are the closest thing I have to Family. Even death would be preferable to knowing my best friend was forced to kill his comrades because of that monster." A line of hot sap began to trickle down from each eye, the tree's fists shaking. "If I have to fight him alone, if he can't be subdued... a person who would do this to him would just as easily order him to fight to the death. I can't let him die again after finding out he's still alive in some manner."
The shaky wooden man stumbled slightly, one hand in the dirt now. It was like he wasn't even talking to the dragon woman anymore. "...I can't let innocent people die because I wasn't strong enough to stop this... because the Z-Fighters and the Galactic Patrol haven't bothered to stop the SSE's expansion. Planets have died, Maeve. My friends, comrades... all dead by their hand. And still, nobody does anything. My hatred is vast... but I'm telling the truth." Boiling hot tears of sap fell from his cheeks as he stared blankly at the ground, body trembling with barely suppressed emotion. "I wish I wasn't, but I'm telling the truth."

"Rei is a manipulator Walker. That is how she operates." Maeve said plainly, her golden eyes narrowing to their feral slits as she looked down the tree man. "I don't mean to disrespect her memory to you but from what I've seen her telling you this may just be some ploy to incite conflict." Maeve said with a dark glower. "She's a silver tongued predator who sees people outside her personal bubble as expendable." She recalled the curt words spoken by the bio android both before the saiyan invasion and upon news of her fiance's death."She threw herself at Zucceta in hopes of instigating a war and it seems when that didn't work she's decided to send you. I don't know what her ploy is given Kaula has been slain as well but an all out war between Earth and the Saiyan Empire would only lead to more deaths." Maeve concluded as she finally broke her intense stare as she turned away from him. "Bing, Rei, Kaula, and who knows who else have all challenged the empire and have fallen. As I said earlier, we have too many people throwing themselves upon Zucceta's blade in some form of self sacrifice and you only wish to perpetuate that cycle but on a larger scale. Is that what you really desire? Do more people need to die in order to fulfill your desire for vengeance? The injustices of those planet's fall is something that needs to be rectified but we cannot just launch into an ill minded offensive. Not while we are so splintered and fragmented." She threw her arms up in exasperation as she let out a frustrated snarl into the air. "The Zetto Senshi are a joke as of now!" She said suddenly turning and stepping into his face with sharp eyes and a lowered brow. "It consists of: me, a pregnant swordswoman who cannot even beat a super saiyan. You, a shortsighted fool who is so desperate for blood he is willing to throw his life away a second time. Toma, a buffoon who hasn't been in one major conflict since I've arrived into this mortal realm. Defrosch, a sullen fighter with little stake in anything and Etoru, a child who is so hurt and so lost that he believes he can fight the queen himself!" She shouted, not moving an inch. "How are we supposed to do anything in such a mess of a state?! How is baring our fangs and hurling ourselves into conflict anything but suicidal?!" She stared at him for a long while with that burning expression but eventually yanked her gaze to the floor. Her headfins drooped as she let some of the fire in her tone falter. The somber embers remaining. "Let go of that idiotic hatred and use your head. We are not just sitting on our hands we are recovering. There is an imbalance in the world, a void left by my fiance's death and if it is true that he has been turned into some kind of monster... Than I mustn't hold my breath that it will be filled by his return." She let her vision drift up as she imagined the lookout from afar. "...I was going to take the position as guardian in honor of his death. Now...I know I must take it to guide the people of this world..." "Administrator Vi-Poi has taken the role of the people's leader. A public figure meant to inspire hope and security throughout the world. I'll take my fiance's role and use it to guide others so that we may preserve the peace and defend this planet." She said, clenching her fist before focusing back on Walker. "But I won't condone a senseless war. I won't allow anymore blood to be shed out of hate."

The tree stared up at her, not moving. Slowly, he stood, head tilted, and stared at Maeve. "... More... deaths? Aheh." He shook slightly, and then a chuckle escaped his lips. "Why... why can't you see how this will end if it's not averted? Why do so few of you UNDERSTAND!" He slumped, still staring. "Defrosch is apathetic, you say? How interesting that he understood my fear perfectly, and saw why I have become so frightened by the path that we are on. The one you seem to believe least capable of caring cared quite a bit."
Lashing one hand out, he suddenly stopped, trembling with exertion. The wave of air flew skywards, and it was clear that if he had continued, it likely would have ruined crops. He seemed to be having trouble controlling his emotion at the moment, and his power was shifting wildly as well. "Stop trying to fit me into your idiotic box of "revenge-driven fool" and THINK about this! The SSE continues to get stronger, and Zuccetta STILL HAS THE TREE OF MIGHT! She will keep getting stronger, keep getting further out of reach! I would be going after her regardless of what had happened to Bing!"
Clenching his fists, he seethed, barely holding back immense frustration. "If we spend more time here licking our wounds and mourning, we will pull aside the shroud to find the SSE at our doorstep, mightier than ever and ready to devour Earth and it's prizes." Beginning to pace, he stopped. "... Fine. Lead the Z-Fighters. Someone must be Kami, after all, and you're the only real choice. I'm going to find the one thing that may tip the balance in this, the one thing I can do while remaining on Earth. You see, I'm not about to throw my life away. That's WHY I have stayed here, have taught a student, have tried to rally the listless fighters of the world."
Straightening, he looked at her once more, and somehow, a sense of defeat emanated from him. "I would spend my life if I knew what was purchased to be peace, but that is not something I am eager to do, and I know it will not happen alone. Yet, despite the advantage we hold, the fact that if we left and overtook the SSE with one definitive strike, we could win... we do nothing." He turned away, facing towards the fields, shoulders slumped. "Go ahead and keep saying what you say, that we must "Recover" and "Defend the planet". I'm sure the Brenchians, or the Konats, or the Hera will say the same thing when they see that Earth is gone, and fear they will be next. I wonder if someone there will desperately try to steer them off course, to rally their strongest and cut the head from the beast. "
"I wonder if he, too, will be simply dismissed with the word 'Hate'."

Maeve stared at him for a moment as she realized something.
"...You're not acting out of hate...You're acting out of fear..."
She looked towards him as she made her accusation.
"You're letting emotion cloud your judgment still. Fear, anger, sorrow, regret. They are plainly evident in your tone! You speak like an animal backed into a corner!" She glared down at him, unfazed by his display of power. Her slitted eyes seemed to burn as she looked right through the panicking woodman. It was as if she were analyzing: every movement. Every action. Every word. The soft frown on her lips and her crossed arms seemed to show just how unimpressed she was it was almost as if she were looking down on him.
"You should know, that when an animal is forced into a corner they may lash out and they may bare their fangs. But...At the end of the day. They have nowhere to go. They face the end of a blade and squeal out as they are bled dry." She hissed, headfins shooting up while her brow lowered and her ears flattened. "I grew up, daughter to a warlord. I understand war and at my basest of levels I live for battle! Nearly as much as the ones you despise so." She said throwing her hands to her sides as she let her demonic aura flare around her in a dark display. "So don't speak to me as if I'm ignorant to what is going on. I am a Rakshasa, a Countess at that. I fully grasp the concept of battle and what may come."
"Unlike you, I'm not afraid." She shouted her aura booming around her, the runic tattoos on her form started to burn away as the star of makyo began to shine upon her from above. "I do not fear Zucceta, or her empire. I won't let fear control me, and I will look to every option given. While war may be inevitable..." She looked down. "We need not rush into it head on while blinded. As I said, we are fragmented. The best thing we can do..." She paused, looking down to her scarred hand in a somber...Bitter sweet moment as she thought of her beloved.
"...Is find strength in unity..."
"That is our only possible advantage. There is no scenario where we win otherwise. There is no assault or siege upon their united empire that we could win let alone survive in our shambled state." She spat, her eyes slowly becoming overtaken by the haunting glow. "Don't give in to desperation, because if you do she's already won."
"...Keep inspiring others, bring them together under one banner. Give up this dramatic notion that we must gamble the Earth in an all or nothing strike and maybe then you can make a difference."

Crossing his arms, Walker stared back. "Still not quite accurate, but far closer. Yes, I'm afraid. However..." He turned, beginning to walk away. "I wonder. How much stronger have you gotten since that day above Vegeta? The day I nearly gave in to grief and took the path towards genocide? It doesn't feel like much. Meanwhile, so many others are surpassing Earth. I take your point about a cornered animal, however..."
He paused, standing in the air, still looking away from her. "Your metaphor is not quite accurate. What holds me here? I could just leave, after all. My friends are dead, and the few I have left are easy enough to transport elsewhere. I have no real obligation to stay. Yet..."
He sighed. "As enraging as the lethargy of Earth may be, you are right. Our only chance is unity. However, when I look at this planet... I see a line of rusted and decayed links, all believing that the rest of the chain will be able to bear the brunt. The defender's numbers thin, and few if any are pushing themselves to reach the next level, levels that might allow us to withstand the SSE. How many fighters do we have left that could really challenge their elites? Do you even know?"
Shaking his head, the tree turned to look over his shoulder one final time. "I will do the one thing I can do alone. I will find those artifacts that were used to return Namek to the sky. Currently, I suspect I am one of very few who might be able to defend them alone, if necessary. I still have that final step I can take." Moving forward, he rose skyward, spinning in mid-air to bow. "I bid you good day... Kami."

The perceived sarcastic bite to his farewell caused her to scowl before turning away from him. She didn't vocally acknowledge it but his words were causing her mind to race. Questions bubbled and flowed like a river as she reflected on everything at once. What was he talking about? Did he know of those 'dragon's balls' perhaps? What was his ploy and why did she get the foreboding sense that he was going to do something foolish and destructive if he didn't have his way? The words 'Final Step' were unwieldy with weight. She questioned whether or not Walker was capable of understanding the ramifications of his potential actions or if he had attained so much power that he lost himself to it. She also wondered if he was going to need someone to step in and put him in check. Her words didn't seem to get through to him so she doubted that he'd ever listen to any sort of reason...
Where she saw hate and fear that would lead to ruin in his call to war he saw justice and a determination that could cripple an empire. Where he saw lethargy and pacifism that would lead to extinction Maeve saw recuperation and caution that could help the people of Earth live another day. He wanted a rusty chain that could service as the queen's noose while she sought to refine it into impenetrable mail. To act or to prepare. That was the struggle that divided them...
At least, that's how she understood it...
With a sigh, she'd walk towards the house. She wobbled, a sense of vertigo overtaking her causing her to stumble. "I-I may not have gotten stronger since Vegeta b-but I think I might understand why... " She looked down to her stomach before slowly rubbing it with care. "...You're getting to be a nuisance already you beautiful miracle you..." Her eyes fluttered as she tried to regain her senses. "T-tch... Dammit..." She cursed sliding to a sit...
"Maeve!" Lemon shouted as she rushed out of the house, tossing aside a pair of hedge clippers that she just so happened to have handy. She dipped down to wrap her arms around the dragoness. "Gumbo! Get on out here and help Maevey to her room! She had a bit of a dizzy spell." She said fretting over Maeve as she tried to pull herself up.
"I-I'll be fine Lemon, I promise." She said trying to wave off her concerns before being overtaken by a looming shadow. Before she could resist the hulking husband of Lemon would scoop her up in his arms in such an effortless yet gentle manner. The normally stern hardened man cradled the demoness as if she were made of precious glass. "T-this is highly unnecessary!" Maeve babbled, turning bright red.
"Not a word Maevey! We saw how worked up you got! Y'all are gonna have to take it easy fer a bit y'hear?" Lemon said placing her hands on her hips as she looked to Maeve before looking back to Gumbo. "Go on take her to her room. I'll get supper ready in the meantime." She said shooing Gumbo along.
As Maeve was carried off she'd look to the horizon and worry.
Things were about to get complicated...
