Namek really wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, she decided as she wandered out onto the blue grass. Boring and altogether bland, aside from the obvious color swapping present compared to Earth and her home planet Shikk, Namek held little appeal for the five year old. Hannibelle Evensong, her idol, always spoke highly of Namek and how peaceful it was. Sure, it was peaceful, but that was because nothing ever happened here in, well, ever. Pin’s battle must have been the most interesting thing to happen on Namek in...she didn’t know how long and decided she didn’t care, either. Still, Kay-El Coliflo wasn’t one to judge a book by the cover and she had come all this way, so further out into Namek she went. A sense of adventure wasn’t one the child lacked.
A small kitten curled up on Kay’s shoulder meowed curiously and the girl reached out with the webbed fingers of one hand to stroke the dark fur above Pounce’s head. “We won’t be here long, I just want to see what all the fuss is about…” But soon after the boring, tedious, repetitive view got to her and Kay-El turned around to head back to her ship. Sure, Namek was peaceful, if that’s what you were into. It was also boring and everything looked the same. If it weren’t for her scouter telling her how to get back to her ship, she’d have been lost in the vast sameness of it all.
Perhaps her departure from Vegeta had been a nit premature, to say the least. But the thought of going back to the red planet so soon held little appeal and, instead, she trudged onward through the blue grass and broccoli like trees until she saw The Pink Lady waiting for her just where she left it. Pounce licked scratchy, lazy kisses at her fingers as she placed the small creature on the seat next to her own. And then he moved off down to the ground where it was safer. That cat always landed on his feet, she noticed, glad Pounce seemed to know his way around keeping his feet aboard a ship.
With the touch of a few buttons, the ship flared to life around her, the hum of it vibrating throughout her small body as she lifted off into the air, creating a temporary ring in the grass below as the small, pink ship took to the air. Maybe Namek hadn’t been a mistake, but it didn’t feel like she needed to stay. Hell, she didn’t even know what drove her to keep exploring, but exploring was something she definitely wanted to do and she’d know her destination when she got there.
That was the idea, anyway. Watching from the window as Namek faded behind her, a world of green and blue so unlike her own home or Earth that she spent so much time on, still it felt strange to be leaving it behind so soon. But there was nothing on Namek for her now.
