Gravity 1/2 | (Using the SSE faction gravity chamber if that’s ok)
--
Pushing the button for a random simulation set to her level, she prepared herself as best she could. Inside the chamber, the dials now set for sixty times normal, Kay-El lay spread out, face first on the floor. And she wasn’t alone, either, as Nana looked over at her. It seemed she finally caught up to her well-trained Nanny who was beginning to doubt she had much left to teach Kay, after all. Struggling to rise, the world shifted around her and for a brief moment she got dizzy with it, trying to watch it all change at once and watch it transform from chamber to a whole new world. But she recognized this world, sort of, it looked so different from when she’d been there just last week it worried her. This couldn’t be live, could it? No, it was fake, it had to be.
Earth was not under attack.
“Little Bird, we need to move,” Nana said, gesturing toward other Saiyans moving in to bring down their attack upon the Blue Banner Army set up to defend their planet. She was glad to note she didn’t recognize any of them on sight. Still struggling, Kay managed to get to her hands and knees on the landing dock of the ship the SSE brought to aid in their attack. One of many in a fleet filled with vessels of every shape and size. The open door ahead would let them exit, all the ships hovering fifty feet above the ground, and the child watched as Saiyans rushed past in to get out there faster and help do their part.
One step at a time, one foot and then the other, Kay-El walked towards that exit and Nana headed out and took to the air. Clearly, the caretaker expected her charge to follow, and Kay-El did exactly as expected.
Looking down at the Earth it felt both familiar and unfamiliar, same and not same - real and not real. Oh,Kay-El knew she was really back in that Gravity Chamber on Vegeta, but she was also here and about to descend in a mighty attack upon the Earth. And her friends were down there somewhere, she felt sure of it, almost all of them belonging to the Galactic Patrol. No doubt they’d be first in line to shut this invasion down or die trying.
With a burst of speed and energy, Kay’s wings sprung from her back as she took to the air, leaping from the edge out into open space. Sure, there was a real floor there in the chamber somewhere, but she decided to embrace the full challenge of the simulation head on. Barreling onward Kay-El sent a few basic Ki blasts at fake opponents to test their strengths, watching as they dodged or swirled or fired back with their own. She dodged those, getting grazed by two but mostly coming out unscathed. Battling in the air this way, so very different from the almost spar with Zucceta in the square, made her think strategically. Far different from combat on the ground, Kay-El and her opponents could easily get over or under each other with completely different angles and avenues of attack.
As the horde of mostly humans mixed with various other races and species approached, backed up by seemingly insurmountable numbers still on the ground, Kay took a defensive stance and began charging up an attack to ruin someone’s day once and for all. There, that looked to be one of the leaders. Leaving the pawns to the others, she headed over to where the crazy looking human was wrecking some of the Saiyans that made their way in this guy’s unfortunate path.
“Hey, why don’t you pick on someone your own size,” she said and stuck out her tongue. Fully aware of her lack of height and weight, the jest didn’t fall on flat ears. Once distracted, her ‘allies’ ran for it and she didn’t blame them one little bit. Would she have done the same in their position? No, probably not, but she was determined to be greater than any mere foot soldier and if that were to be the case she needed to train, train and train some more. He lunged at her and she barely managed to dodge, eyes wide at the speed he possessed. As she kept charging her attack he hit her this time, a fist to the gut that almost made her lose her concentration, her Ki swirling around her like a mass of dark blue and green swirling water.
She aimed a at his sternum which he dodged, the two trading blows fast as they could and she ducked down, sending the same foot up into his groin. He called out and fell to his knees and she released the charged blast at last, singing and channeling her Ki through her voice as she had this whole time. Hands pointed at her target like ‘guns,’ she imagined him shutting down and watched as the light went out of his eyes.
After that, tearing through enough of the forces in order to end the simulation was easy. Nana looked at her with some kind of look on her face Kay never saw before. Approval and...something else, or many somethings, she couldn’t read. “Very good, Birdie,” she said and Kay smiled in return.
“Thanks, Nana.” Sometimes it just felt nice to get some positive reinforcement.
