TOMA THE HEROToma was at home today, thinking about what had happened on the lookout. He had been denied the position of Kami by his fellow Earthlings, though he wasn't upset. He had made a vote, and they had voted against him. Even his own wife. Though, in the end, they were right. Toma knew and accepted this fact.
In his fear, he had acted in haste, and had paid the price. He would need to remain calmer in the future. He knew this, now. And he was intent on learning from his mistakes.
So now, here he was. Sitting at home with his son in his lap. His daughter was asleep in the crib across the way, and Ninjin had taken the capsule case to go shopping. Of course she stored the groceries in the capsules until she got back, and flew everywhere she went.
He looked down at the child, and he smiled. "Koruso..." He began, smiling as the baby began sucking on the bottle that Toma was feeding him. "You won't grow up in a universe ruled by the Saiyan Solar Empire... I promise." He said, though Koruso didn't react. The baby was too young to care about what his father was saying. He was just happy to be being fed, and being held in his fathers loving arms.

[Thread PL: 69,971] [UT] Liquid Ki - Mist Active! Ki suppressed to 10000]
Deciding to take some time off from scouring for clues in the Lookout's library, Defrosch was out in the ocean near the Southern Islands. Here, he would float on the water in a trance-like state of meditation. Of course, he was still aware enough of his surroundings and used his ki sensing capabilities to avoid any potential annoyances, which were mostly in the form of greedy sea predators. Apparently, they don't learn after the first time they get knocked further into the abyss of the ocean than they can normally handle.
After a fairly lengthy amount of time, the Arcosian had eventually floated closer towards the Southern Islands. He figured that this could be a better challenge than open water considering there is a lot more to keep track of the closer one gets to the islands.
As he suspected, it was indeed much more of a challenge, but even then, it was one he could easily overcome. 'Mmm. Might try again on a stormy night, I guess.' Giving up on this training exercise, he opened his eyes and simply watched the clouds. Eventually he would grow tired of this too, and decided to slowly float to the nearest island to sit on the beach.
It only took a few moments for him to pick up on ki signatures on and around the island. Noting the presence of one in particular, he wasn't too happy. 'Oh. Great. Of all the people on the planet... Ahh, whatever, he won't do anything.'

TOMA THE HEROIt didn't take long for Toma to sense the power level that had landed on the island he and Ninjin called home. He focused on the power for a moment, preparing to remove his weights and defend his home if need be, but then he realized that it was merely Defrosch. While Toma and Defrosch had their differences, they were far from enemies.
If worse came to worst, Toma would be willing to trust Defrosch with his life, even if they didn't like each other. They were still brothers in arms, after all. They both wanted the same thing -- To defend Earth.
Though, Toma was unsure if Defrosch could say the same thing. Perhaps, now that he and Toma were alone, they might talk and grow to be friends. Or not. Who knows? Certainly not Toma, but Defrosch and Toma hardly knew each other. Toma decided it would be best to at least make an effort to speak with him.
Giving his son a kiss on the head, Toma put his child in the crib before walking outside. His Ki flared around him, and he flew in the air to Defrosch's side, landing with a light tap of his boots. A journey which had only taken him a few seconds.
"Hello, Defrosch." Toma began, smiling. "What brings you here? Do you have need of anything?" He'd ask, before sitting down on the sand, cross legged, waiting for the arcosians response.

By haphazardly toying with the Law Of Murphy, Defrosch had practically summoned Toma. 'Phh... Every kai-damned time.' He rolled his eyes, seeing no reason to just up and leave the Arcosian simply sat there as Toma landed beside him. Sure enough, given the passage of time, Defrosch could keep this civil in comparison to the meeting on the lookout some time earlier. That aside, he had questions that needed their answers. Some could be answered by Vi-Poi or Reikiko, but there were a fair few that Toma was far more able to answer than either the Azure Administrator or the Chimera Mercenary.
There was just one problem; would he answer them? Defrosch had no way of knowing for certain...
"Hi, Toma." Defrosch only gave him a cursory glance, while not wanting to be without manners, he was still somewhat peeved. "I was out training. Got bored. Not much else to it."

TOMA THE HERODefrosch still held a tad bit of anger in his voice and mannerisms, but Toma could tell that he had calmed down quite a bit since the meeting at the lookout. Well, it was a start at least.
Toma, being no stranger to interacting with people, looked over Defrosch. He let out a 'hmm' before floating closer to Defrosch, and setting down in the sand next to him once more. "Training, eh? You know, you're welcome to use my Gravity Chamber any time you need." Toma spoke, more than happy to let Defrosch, or any member of the Z-Fighters for that matter, use his training equipment. After all, he had allowed it even back when he used to lead the group in the first place.
But then, Toma's face grew a bit more serious, as he looked over to Defrosch. "I sense something is bothering you, Defrosch. Is there something you wish to speak about?"

Defrosch shrugged rolled his eyes. "Thanks, but I'll pass on that for now." Of course something was bothering him, lots of things were bothering him. He would list them all but that would be a phenomenal waste of time. Time that could be spent doing anything more meaningful than dumping a load of saltiness on someone that is only to blame for a small fraction of any of those things. "Well gee, aren't you perceptive."
He looked out to the ocean, almost getting lost in the atmosphere before looking back over to Toma. "What does this planet mean to you?" Fortunately, this question was not posed with any hint of anger, because if it was, fists would have already flown. Defrosch would need to know the answer to this at least before asking Toma anything else. "I'm.. Curious. Let say that."

TOMA THE HEROAnd of course, the anger continued to flow from Defrosch's mouth. Toma sighed through his nose as he held his hands together in his lap, legs crossed as he watched the Arcosian. He was well aware of the long standing rivalry between Arcosians and Saiyans, and wondered if that might b e playing into the Arcosian's seemling hatered of Toma.
But Toma personally didn't care about that kind of stuff. Defrosch wa sa good guy, despite his flaws. He was a defender of Earth and an ally, regardless of his disposition. But it was then that Defrosch asked a rather interesting, specific question.
"What does Earth mean to me? Hmm..." Toma began, thinking on the question for a moment. "Well, at first Earth was just a pit-stop. I wasn't raised here, as I'm sure you know." Toma began again, looking up at the sky now.
"I hadn't intended to stay on this world after fleeing Sylor. I had intended to go back to Vegeta, to find out who my people really were. But then, I met Athren. I decided that going to Vegeta to live there wasn't a good idea, after what he told me about it." He said, sighing. "After that, I met Ninjin. She was merely an ally at first. But soon, we fell in love, married, and had children. So now, Earth is my home. It's where I intend to raise my children and grow old. I wish to protect it with all the might that I have available to me."

"Hey, for all I knew, you could've been an Earth Saiyan." Defrosch shrugged. In all fairness he had met or heard of quite a few Earthling Saiyains or Saiyan hybrids. There was one in particular that he was good friends with; Raisu Hanamura, and he wondered how that goofy red-head was doing right now.
Defrosch raised an eyebrow when Toma mentioned 'Sylor'. To the Arcosian's knowledge that was a world quite far out of Arcose space. In his younger years he had overheard some AE scouts- under the leadership of his father Sleete- had come across this planet, but saw nothing of value in it, nor any semblance of a threat from its inhabitants. "Sylor, huh? Thats... Pretty out there, if you get what I mean. Kinda like Earth." Defrosch let out a short snort. "I'm sensing a pattern here."
Listening to the explanation, he noted a 'keyword' that were involved with Defrosch's earlier studies on the 'Z-Fighter' name; Athren. The first 'Super Saiyan' to surface after a thousand years... "Right, so... Those two little presences nearby, they're your kids?" Defrosch gestured over his shoulder casually. "Hm, I see. So during those things Etoru mentioned on the Lookout; the events you weren't around for- I'm guessing you were watching over your kids?" He nodded, processing the information Toma had given. "Speaking of that debacle, absolutely horrendous timing on your part. I'm sure you've realized that now. I might've said some unsavory things, but the gist of what I was getting at remains much the same; being Kami is... Something else, something more than what we think it might be."
Defrosch waited for a moment, looking to Toma and speaking with a bit more relaxed tone at this point. "Anyway, enough about that. This... 'Athren' guy. What can you tell me about him?"

TOMA THE HERODefrosch spoke about how Sylor was pretty 'out there'. Toma nodded. "Yes, I am well aware of Sylor's reputation as an underdeveloped world. The Sylorian's were a relativly new, powerful species. They had power levels on par with the average mid-class Saiyan. I suppose that's why they could handle me when I was young." He said, before Defrosch pointed over his shoulder to Toma's home.
"Yes, those two small Ki signatures are indeed my children. They're infants, twins. A boy and a girl. They're my pride and joy." He spoke, before Defrosch asked another question. He asked if Toma had been protecting his family during the time that the Saiyans had invaded. Toma nodded. "Yes. I had full confidence that Bing and the rest of the Z-Fighters would be able to repel the threat. But, at the time, my wife had only just recently given birth. Her power level had dropped drastically. I couldn't bear the thought of leaving her behind in her weakened state and running the risk of her and my children perishing in my absence."
Shortly after, Defrosch spoke about how he had said some unsavory things, and teased Toma about his timing. Toma smiled, and chuckled. "Agreed. You and the others were right in your decision, though. I acted out of fear, and haste. Bing's death, and Zucceta's ascension to... whatever power she has now. It scared me. Since then, I've had time to calm myself and reflect, after speaking with my wife about the matter."
But then, Defrosch asked about Athren, and Toma sighed. "Athren... he..." He began, laying back into the sand, looking up at the blue sky, watching the clouds roll by. "He was a good man, at first. If a bit rough around the edges." He spoke, recalling his time with the Saiyan with the discolored tail.
"He was like most Saiyans. Prideful, arrogant, but a good man deep down. When I first met him, I thought he was a bit of a jerk. But he grew on me, and he started getting more relaxed and more human as he spent more time on Earth."
"He met a human woman named Kaiyo. I suspect he had more feelings for her than he let on. They had an argument of some kind, and he left for a while. It was then that I met a Namekian named Ukare. We sparred and became allies."
"After that, Athren came back... different. Angrier. Darker. His aura felt malicious, murderous. I felt his power explode one day during a training session with Pieter, and soon after I found Ukare's mangeled corpse. I was going to confront him about it, but before I had the chance, he blasted off to West City and fought Vi-poi and Reikiko. And you know how that went."
"I suspect his ascension to a Super Saiyan had affected his mind, as it did mine when I first transformed. The difference between Athren and I, though, is that I've had the training to give me the mental fortitude nessecary to deal with such events. Athren... was going off instinct. And it got him killed."
"I suppose it's partially my fault for his actions, though. If I had spent more time with Athren. If I had watched him closer, or helped to ease his pain... maybe he wouldn't have turned out the way he did. His actions under the Z-Fighter name are one of my greatest regrets."

'Yikes, his wife could've died giving birth... No wonder he prioritized being with them.' The Arcosian had indeed heard of a condition that weakens a parent when they give birth... Most victims of it suffer far more than a loss in strength. So Ninjin was incredibly lucky to have lived. "Right. I get that, your instinctual reaction was to watch over your family."
Defrosch stared out into the ocean with a deadpan expression. That was more than he could say for himself. In a way, he was jealous of people with functional families, but those are the breaks. Snapping out of his momentary trance, he continued to listen to Toma's story. "I suppose that'd be part of the reason why the term 'Z-Fighter' is generally met with indifference or disdain. Oh well. Not everyone can tell the difference between a group and an individual." Defrosch turned his gaze towards the sky once again at the mention of Toma's old Namekian ally. This reminded him of something; he knew that Bing was not the only recent casualty. The future Guru of Namek; Helix Crust had all of a sudden faded away a while before Bing did. It was mostly unclear as to how this had happened, as Lusca would've been around him at all times to keep him safe, but Defrosch had recently found a clue in the old writings in the Lookout's library; 'Some Namekians are two halves of a same whole. One embodies harmony, the other embodies aggression. One spirit in two bodies, they are intricately connected.' Perhaps whoever Helix was connected to had perished without anyone knowing.
The worst part of that situation was the fact that most if not all of the Z-Fighters besides Defrosch and Etoru- who is surprisingly hard to find when you need him- had suddenly gone off into space, so Defrosch couldn't reliably tell anyone. "So. Why'd you scamper off to Vegeta exactly? There was something we were meant to do as a group, but you and everyone else but Etoru just up and-" The Arcosian made a 'bubble popping' gesture "-boop. Gone."
