The frigid and unforgiving expanse of the Land of Ice was only broken by the scarce monster, those large and hulking furred apes that shunned humans and led gentle lives out here in the lonely waste. Vi-Poi watched one very far away huddle close to a snowy gorge as the last of the null tests were made on the apparatus which surrounded him. He was surrounded by fifteen robotic arms, all encased in a hermetically-sealed transparent shell. His yttrium-iridium skeleton was exposed below the neck, his chest and abdomen open to accept the bulb and coil of machinery carefully hoisted in precise position. Miles above, a swarm of BBA aerials watched nervously, ready for a repeat what happened when the Megacore was installed.
"Engage." Vi-Poi ordered. The module swung slowly forward until he could feel the new material nestle inside of him, the coil quickly snapping along his spine, the module sitting directly under his Megacore heart and food-intake annihilator. The package was called the Thief Gear, and it was supposed to correct many fundamental design flaws in his fighting power and analysis.
Vi-Poi closed his large blue eyes slowly as the last of the mechanics hooked snugly into place, his body quickly sealing around it. If he had lungs, he'd have seized breath.
A groundswell of new energy suddenly went live inside of his internals. What's more, he felt faster, more internally coherent. The software upgrades were seamless, like he didn't even feel it. "I never knew this sort of power was attainable." Vi-Poi said with a laugh. "I feel like I could take on ten Super Saiyans."
He could hear the sighs of relief coming in on the comm channel. "Go ahead, try something out."
Vi-Poi frowned down at his hand. "Something..." A memory of fighting Queen Zucceta for the first time caught him. He flexed his fist, and suddenly the wavering ghost of a ki blade sputtered onto his hand. He widened his bond to the memory, but his processors were taken aback by the torrent of information, causing him to quickly fumble the flux on the Gear. The bond snapped shut, and the ki blade fizzled, shooting off like a firecracker and puncturing the bubble wall.
The glass sphere wheezed as it deflated. "This will take some getting used to." Vi-Poi decided, placing more of his Megacore's memory resources onto his new Thief Gear.
