A certain Saiyan hybrid was being tortured in his sleep. Green enveloped his eyes, green seaweed, in fact. It was everywhere, covering every available inch of his mind, restricting Celmaru's imaginary movement as well. Celmaru was unaware of what was fully happening, he had nearly forgotten what had just recently happened....the major turning point in his life. Suddenly becoming claustrophobic in his own mind, Celmaru struggled to free himself from the green weed. The seaweed started closing in, increasing his sudden fear. Celmaru tried to fight back, but his power wasn't responding to his will, it was gone....he felt empty. He couldn't contain his fear anymore, he wanted to wake up as soon as possible.
"HURRRAAAAAAAHH!!!" Celmaru screamed, tugging against the seaweed.
Celmaru's eyes swung open, finally returning to reality. He was laid upon the couch in his family room, a pillow propped up behind his head. Unfortunately, Celmaru once again became uncomfortably embarrassed at what he saw...and felt. A familiar shade of green was in his face, her eyes closed. Along with that, her lips were upon his. Muffled screams were emitted from Celmaru's throat, signifying that he was finally awake, and already embarrassed.
"HEY! DON'T JUST KISS MY SON LIKE THAT!!" A familiar voice yelled.
"He woke up, did he not?" The seaweed replied, removing her lips from Celmaru's, "I know how to handle my husband."
"I DON'T CARE! YOU CAN'T JUST SAY THAT YOU'RE MARRIED TO MY SON, EITHER!" Celia Waterfield yelled, irritated.
"It is a legal marriage, the rings we have are legitimate, and the ceremony was held by someone that was legally able to marry people."
"I DON'T BELIEVE A SINGLE WORD OF IT!!! MY SON WOULDN'T MARRY SOME SEAWEED BITCH!!"
"Uh...huh...wha-..?" Celmaru stammered, not fully awake, "Mother...?"
Fully acknowledging her child's awakening, Celia rushed over to him, hugging the life out of him. Celmaru, already embarrassed, could only wait out his Mother's embrace. As she hugged her son, she still felt like she should ask something.
"So....how drunk were you?"
"What?!"
"How drunk were you, Celmaru?"
Obvious irritation was in her voice, awaiting a good explanation for why Phae was here.
"I was fully sober, Mother. Ayumu-"
"Who's Ayumu?"
"He's an elderly man that....er.....long story..."
"Sure, whatever you say.....you drunk Saiyan."
"I don't have a hangover!"
"Then why is your face red?"
"Phae just kissed me mere moments ago!"
"Oh, is that her name, huh?"
"Yes, Mother."
"Well, then, I hope you're happy. Because I don't get any Human grandchildren anymore!"
With her last remark, her grip on Celmaru increased exponentially, crushing Celmaru's ribs.
"Grck! M-Mother...c-can't....breathe!"
Celia ignored her defiant son, wanting to bring any legal punishment upon him. Phae, meanwhile, watched as her husband was crushed by her mother-in-law. Phae stood behind them both, wanting to explain herself to Celia, just so she and Celmaru could be married in peace.
"Celia, do you not know who I am?"
"No, and I don't want to!"
"Celia, haven't you seen anyone in your dreams as a child? Someone in a white robe...or a yukata?"
Celia released her death-grip from Celmaru, allowing him to breathe properly once more. Tugging at his collar, Celmaru wondered what Phae could've been getting at.
"I was not always a bundle of fused seaweed. I was simply a guardian angel for this family for centuries. I've watched over Celmaru, Aelron, Taveon, Cecil, Anton, Codban, Mantou, and the many, many others that came before you."
"Celmaru?"
"Not your child. Another Celmaru lived before him, at the beginning of this family. Celmaru had founded the Waterfield family, raised his children, and let them carry on his legacy. I watched over all of them. The current Celmaru has two names of his ancestors' within his own; Celmaru himself, and Anton. Both of which were high-ranking Humans in past armies and organizations. Many influences in Celmaru's life were from his ancestors', such as his signature attack: the Great Blast Crash."
"Wait, what?!" Celmaru interjected, confused.
"...Papa Codban?....Even Cecil's children? Why didn't you say so sooner?"
"I was afraid that the information would confuse you, and make you terrified of me."
"If you watched over our family for so many years, why would I be scared of you?"
"Er...Mother...?"
"Shh!"
Celia was interested now, wanting to hear more of what Phae had to say.
"I believe I have watched over you, as well, when you were a tiny child. About 22 years ago, I changed my focus to Celmaru. Every time another offspring of the Waterfield family is born, I shift my gaze over to them, leaving the parents to their own established devices."
Phae looked at Celmaru, her pale complexion flustering slightly.
"....The last time I saw you was when I was fifteen!"
"You were....a special case. Celia, you were looking out for yourself more than I could. And you had plenty of friends to keep you company. I didn't need to look after you from that point on."
"It would've been nice for you to drop in every once and awhile..."
"It would have been unnecessary."
While Celia and Phae spoke to each other, Celmaru crept off the couch, hoping to sneak away from them both. As Celmaru tiptoed away, Phae noticed his plan.
"Excuse me for a moment, Celia."
Her form faded, becoming simple seaweed once more. The weeds were flung towards Celmaru, scaring him. Meanwhile, Celia was sucked into her thoughts, wondering what else Phae had seen.
"No don't you-!" Celmaru exclaimed, dreading the inevitable impact.
The seaweed came into contact with Celmaru's face at a high velocity, knocking him the the floor. The seaweed shifted, fusing together once more, this time with Phae on his back. Phae's arms wrapped around Celmaru's neck, making him uncomfortably nervous. Two certain flesh bags pressed against his back, flustering him.
"I've watched you for the longest, since you were within Celia's womb."
"Er....Uhh...."
"You intrigued me since the day you were born. You look so much like Celmaru....the one from all those years ago."
Phae's words were penetrating Celmaru's ears, making him softly shiver. His body was tense, and his heart was beating at its maximum capacity.
"As I watched you grow up, and saw you face so many hardships because of your race....I wanted to hold you, shield you from those racist Humans..."
Celmaru couldn't say a word in reply, besides being completely embarrassed, he couldn't think of anything to say; someone...something wanted to protect him, wanted to help him with his troubles. A solid red blush appeared on his face, showing his embarrassment. Phae continued, explaining why she was here.
"I have seen you fight many battles, many of which within yourself. I watched you fight that selfish alien, beat up those children in a rage, I saw you lose your tail, after all those times it was pulled. I even saw you fight Ayumu's familiar, Hana."
"......"
"All that time, over twenty two long years, I wanted to help you, and protect you from any further harm. I was a guardian spirit for your family, yet I could not do my job....all because I was transparent, invisible to you and everyone else. I was not able to touch you, console you, anything."
Her grip around Celmaru's neck tightened slightly. Her face was pressed up against his neck, which felt oddly warm.
"You look so much like Celmaru....Celmaru Regalia Waterfield. I felt a sense of painful nostalgia looking at you all these years, every time I thought of him..."
Finally gathering a few words to say, Celmaru finally spoke, albeit still flustered and embarrassed.
"You...loved him...didn't you?"
Phae didn't respond....which was all that Celmaru needed to hear. A spirit loving Celmaru's ancestor by the same name, it was unnerving to Celmaru, possibly even shocking. Had the stars aligned to give Phae another chance at this?....Celmaru couldn't even guess.
"A few days ago, after you defeated that mossy girl's brother....Ayumu found me, and he could see me. He knew exactly what I wanted, and helped me find a form to occupy."
".....Seaweed."
"Yes, seaweed. It wasn't optimal, but it was able to do many things, even adjust certain limbs at will."
More pressure was applied to Celmaru's back, but Phae wasn't pushing down on him all that much.
"Do you like them bigger?"
"I....shouldn't answer that..."
A small smile formed on Phae's face, enjoying her time with Celmaru, despite the more uncomfortable memories.
"After Ayumu had helped me, he told me to stay within a crate for a few days. You know what happened after I reappeared in that crate."
Celmaru's head became beet red, remembering the embarrassing experience. Celia, meanwhile, had left the room, still caught up in her thoughts. This left Phae and Celmaru alone, to his dismay, and to Phae's amusement. Strands of thick seaweed hair fell on Celmaru's shoulders, surprisingly soft like normal Human hair.
"I was able to marry you, and now we're here."
"Er.....I didn't expect such a sad story from you...."
"You didn't?"
"I mean, your job is oversee my family, correct? I didn't expect a star-crossed-lovers-esqe scenario to occur."
"....Are you making fun of me?"
"What? N-No, I'm not, I was-!"
"Your punishment will be severe."
"Huh?!"
Phae began to grip Celmaru's neck in her arms, and her mammaries were further pressed against his back. Celmaru ignited his aura, flying upwards in alarm. His head almost hit the high ceiling as he flew around, trying to shake Phae off his back.
"Phae! Please don't do this!"
"Your punishment has not been given. You must take it like a man."
As she finished her sentence, she leaned in to peck Celmaru's cheek again.....and again....once again....you see the pattern. Ascending to the mystical "Red SSJ" once again out of embarrassment, Celmaru's aura faded, unable to fight back anymore. With his face completely red, along with the rest of his body, he touched down on the carpeted floor once again. Standing in the middle of the room, with a defeated look on his red face. Celia returned from her thoughts, entering the room again. Seeing both Celmaru and Phae in a different situation than before, she almost lost her focus when she saw Celmaru, holding on the Phae by his neck, red as a tomato. She tried to contain her laughter, but couldn't.
"Pfff...FFfffFF....BWAHAHAHAAA!" Celia laughed, "Celmaru, why do you look like that?!"
"Mother....you're not being very helpful..."
"There is no problem here, Celia, please go back to your business."
"I think my son's well-being is my business, Phae."
"....My husband's business is not your business."
"Your husband is still my son."
"....."
"...Can both of you please leave me be to not get utterly embarrassed?"
"Nope!"
"No."
Celmaru sighed in exasperation, he couldn't live like this, not now. Celmaru needed to leave to clear his head. Forcing Phae's hands away from his neck, Celmaru turned to leave his home.
"Thank you for your time Mother, I'll see you next month. Phae, stay here. Don't leave home. I need to clear my head a bit."
"Husband...?"
"Uhm....Alright, see you..." Celia replied, confused.
Celmaru left his home, closing the oak door behind him. As Celmaru stepped across the front lawn, the door opened once more. Phae appeared from the doorway, a surprisingly concerned look on her face. Everything on her body returned to its original size, with her wavy seaweed clothes limply bouncing around her frame. One hand held the door, and the other was across her chest. She closed the door behind her, running over to Celmaru.
"Phae, I told you to-!"
Celmaru was embraced, his torso tensing up greatly. Celmaru's arms were placed above him, signifying surprise. Celmaru looked around, frantically looking for any curious passerby.
"I'm not leaving you. You are my husband."
"I'm the guy you're interested in because I look like your past crush."
"....Idiot."
"...Excuse me?"
"It is more complicated than that. When I said I wanted to protect you, to console you, I meant it."
Raising one eyebrow in suspicion, Celmaru awkwardly lowered one arm to Phae's head, patting her out of minuscule feelings of wanting to comfort her.
"I may have thought of what you claim before, but I believe that I think of you more than the other Celmaru."
Celmaru's blush returned, this time along his entire face already.
"Why do you even bother with me? I'm just some halfbreed trash."
Phae punched him, silently telling him "Idiot".
"What? Its true, ask any fullblood around here. Ask any Human. They'll tell you something about how my birth is a joke."
Somehow Celmaru ended up insulting himself, which is new in his mind.
"Celmaru was a Saiyan too."
"Huh?!"
"Celmaru Regalia Waterfield was exactly 6.25% Saiyan."
"Well, its better than being 50%..."
"He acted just like you."
"Like the founder of my family was a pessimistic victim of racism."
"Stop it!"
Celmaru raised both eyebrows at Phae's bold remark. He didn't expect anything besides an emotionless tease from her.
"You're bound to be one of the most promising members of the Waterfield family, and you're just pushing yourself away from what you can truly do! Ayumu may have helped, but you're going to bring yourself to your own death hesitating and questioning your ability!"
Celmaru couldn't reply in retort, he was shocked that she cared for him that much.
*Doki*
She's actually trying to help him with his inner demons, with his external troubles.
*Doki*
"Goddammit Ayumu..." Celmaru thought, lowering his other arm.
Celmaru lowered his arms, completing the embrace. His heart was beating a bit too noticeably, becoming self-conscious of what Phae would think.
"You feel nice."
"Er...."
"I can feel your heartbeat too."
"...You're imagining things."
"I wouldn't think so."
"You're imagining things, you bunch of seaweed."
"Stop being such a tsundere, you big Saiyan lug."
"Don't call me a lug."
"Too late."
*Doki Doki*
Celmaru sighed in his mind, thinking, "Maybe I can deal with her for a little while longer..."
*Doki Doki*
The evening sun setting nearby, sending shadows across the land. Two figures stood, embracing each other. A seaweed girl, and a halfbreed Saiyan, developing something that never seemed possible.
"Keep in mind....that I can change my form at will."
"I've...noticed. Can you transform into a compact form, like Hana?"
"Did you not believe I could? How would you like me to change?"
Looking down at his naked wrists, he had an idea.
"Maybe wrist guards?"
"Easy."
A smile appeared as she lost her specific form, shrinking into broad wrist guards, green in color of course. The seaweed guards fell into Celmaru's hands waiting to be worn.
"That's very handy, Phae."
The wrist guards quivered as they spoke, telling Celmaru that she was still conscious in that form.
"I can turn into other things as well. At your command, of course, husband."
Blushing softly at that remark, overthinking it, Celmaru hastily equipped the seaweed guards, automatically adjusting to his size.
"Husband, I didn't know you were rough with your clothing."
"Please don't make me overthink that."
"It feels nice, being able to be near you..."
"I told you to not let me overthink this!"
Phae's form quivered as a barely audible laugh was heard from Celmaru's wrists. Phae continued to quiver, this time not out of laughter or speech. A questionable noise was audible from Phae.
".....Phae...? What are you doing?"
Another questionable noise erupted from Phae, who responded swiftly.
"Nothing husband....just...readjusting myself."
"Right....well, this form seems to work well. You can transform back."
"I just got comfortable...."
"Alright, fine. I don't want any complaints later though...."
Celmaru's aura ignited, slightly boosting his power as he took off, towards another (mis)adventure, this time with Phae.
"Husband still feels nice."
"Phae, please don't say that!"
