Just a very small idea, to make those non-KP SU1's a new type of technique. Flying, ki sense, suppression etc don't use KP; same with other SU1's that are essentially non-mechanically-useful techniques. They'd come under [UT] or utility techniques.
Before KP was a thing, it was unnecessary to separate these utility SU's from the more active SU's such as zanzoken due to the lack of a limit on actions per turn - now there's a distinct difference, it could be a useful distinction (although it'd require everyone to update their profiles). Thoughts?

Sounds good! Lets make the gender change ray the first UT ability!

Works for me!
EDIT: On Second thought maybe we should have a [PA] Ability type? For Passive abilities or always active abilities.
Examples: Flight, Ki Sense, Keen Nose, God's Eyes, Telepathy, Bao's Sexy and He Knows It, and other things.

I think it could cause clashes over the gray area between the two technique types, and further extremize the already somewhat rigid status quo for what techniques are allowed to be.
There would also be very few actual SU's in that case. It would be almost just be stun techniques and afterimages.
That being said, it would be useful for classification purposes.

I'm for this simply because I have a bunch of flavor techs that work as SUs but would ordinarily be unnecessary lol

I think, now that we have made KP a rigid part of the saga/DE thread system and generally used in most threads, we need some way to differentiate between those that don't use KP and those that do - just for ease of use.
Edit: Katsu, the only difference between Utility and Passive would be in name. I think utility is more accurate as flight or ki sense are not "passive" in the show, they need active focus to use - just, on site, they don't use KP. (also one of my pet peeves if when people ALWAYS use sense to know everything; people in the show often get surprised even with sensing ability.)

That's perfect to cover! But at that point, we'd need to go into some detail on what classifies as support.

Support would be 1) non-damaging techniques 2) with a mechanical purpose 3) which use KP.

Sounds good! Lets make the gender change ray the first UT ability! Gender change wouldn't be UT, it has potential to stun and would require KP... erm, this is the aforementioned gray area actually I guess.

If it weren't for charging, it would be better (I think) to have 'Offensive' and 'Defensive' techniques (which would also clear up some of the weirdness around Barriers historically) with 'Support' being everything that doesn't use KP.
But charging does exist so this post was mostly pointless.

I am going to have to reapply for half of my supports to get them right, but I'm cool with this.

I'm against it, personally.
New players seem to have trouble getting the grasp of the tags we have already; adding another one might add to the confusion. Plus, every player we have already would have to re-tag a good chunk of their techs or, even worse, apply for their techs again.

I say SP, and SU. SP would be support passive while SU is either support or support utility. just to make clear the similarities between them

I say SP, and SU. SP would be support passive while SU is either support or support utility. just to make clear the similarities between them I could see those two designations getting easily confused. Utility techniques like flight and sense AREN'T that similar to support techniques such as zanzoken or solar flare.
