On the north eastern end of the Southern Islands was a small archipelago just off of the coast. It was a sunny afternoon, the winds blowing gently and stirring the palms that littered the small sandy islands surrounded by seawater on all sides. The most prominent feature of these otherwise nondescript Isles was a large cargo ship resting upon a shoal, sands still wet from its concealment in the high tide. The ship had two large smokestacks, and was canted at a 15 degree angle facing away from the mainland, with the front of the ship resting upon the shoal. The lower end of the ship was partially submerged in water, with several holes in it worn away by the passing of time.
The subtle sound of combustion filled the sky along the peaceful graveyard of the lost ship. I the sky above a jetstream could be seen moving towards the Isles. The object behind the jetstream was small, not large enough to be a plane or a spacecraft. As it came closer to the Islands, the shape of a humanoid in a rusty brown metallic armor could be seen. As he came within distance of the shipwreck the jetstream became less potent, and the man slowly descended downwards. As he came to the ground the stream boosted again for a moment, causing the man to jerk upwards into a hover for a soft landing onto the sandy ground.
Otto had arrived. Otto began moving towards the shipwreck. The soles of his encased feet sinking deeply into the sand with each footstep. He was carrying a large brown burlap sack in his hand, empty of any contents. Otto had come to salvage the wreckage. He didn’t expect to find unpicked cargo himself, but that wasn’t what he had came for. Otto was here to scrap as much metal out of the ship as he could, so that he could melt it down for parts later.
Unknown to him, on the rear end of the ship in its sunken lower compartments was a vibrant habitat of various sea creatures, predominantly of the crustacean variety. With his predominant target being the engine room towards the rear of the ship, he would threaten a food source for creatures that might rely upon such things as food.
Otto began approaching the ship. He had hoped to avoid having to work underwater by setting up a wall around the shoal to prevent the tide from rolling in. If he was successful he could drain out the ocean water that was submerging the parts of the ship he needed to salvage from. With several capsules in hand, Otto opened them and a large amount of cinder block appeared, as well as several bags of concrete, and a bucket. It would be a crude wall, but it didn’t have to be perfect to reduce the water levels. With that Otto went to work, pouring a bit of cement into his bucket and mixing in some seawater. He began to lay cinder block along the edge of the shoal that he was at.
By mid day, Otto had completed the easier parts of his task. He had created enough wall around either side of the shoal, and in the shallow parts. His hardest task would be the large span that he needed to produce in the deep water. Concrete could harden under water but it wouldn’t be exactly reliable. Otto sat down for a breather on a stack of unused cinder block. He knew that he would have to wait to finish his wall up tomorrow, because his efforts would be useless if the high tide rolled in on his construction. After his break he would start welding metal off of the front hull of the ship.

Submerged entirely in the depths of ocean, lurked the mutant marine beast known as Marautis. He would prowl about the waters in and around the shipwreck as he had done for the last 20 minutes or so. It had proved home to many sea wildlife that Marautis took an appetite for. He had spent his time in this area devouring misfortunate fish that had decided that the shoal provide be suitable abode to spend their time. Not on the watch of Marautis.
It wasn't long before his attention was taken by vibrations and ripples forming in the shallower ends of the shoal where the water would lick the edges of the shipwreck. Heavy footsteps had caused this, rattling above. Marautis approached a hole in the floor of the ships decking that had rusted out and peered out from a vantage point that remained hidden from the other side of the water. A figure stood upon the upper level of the deck, a tin man of sorts as it appeared to Marautis. They moved with vigor in constructing some sort of wall upon the ship. The terrestrial beings of this planet confused Marautis. He bobbed quietly in the water happy to merely observe the individual and watch him complete his work. Marautis picked up the strangers power level, quite a bit stronger than Marautis' own, but he had fought deadlier opponents in his time.
Marautis would remain in the water underneath as to not disturb the robust appearing individial. He chose rather to stay put and observe the character from a hidden vantage point beneath the waters surface.

Otto's powersuit bore no built in scouter. He had all the modular connections needed to implant one into the visor of his mask, but he hadn't gotten around to installing one before the space ship of his master was destroyed by saiyan invaders. This left Otto ignorant to any powerful lifeforms in his vicinity, and the torch that he was taking to the hull of the ship was loud enough to keep him blissfully unaware of any noise. He had started with the ceiling of the bridge, cutting off large plates of steel and carefully placing them in a stack on the ground. The afternoon sun grew brighter and brighter into the rusted old bridge with each square cut he made into its roof.
The bridge was littered with maps and charts. The plastic seated blue captains chair had a name placard on it, reading "CAPT. J Grumby". He didn't find any human remains, and so he assumed that the inhabitants had either lived their days out on the surrounding Islands or got a rescue.
Otto continued his work for about ten minutes, before setting down his blow torch and pressing a button on his mask. The upper half of his visor became loose, and with his hands he pulled the mask up over his silver hair. His neck was still covered and the lower end of the mask rode up to his ears. He had a somewhat young but weathered face, which was covered in a thin layer of sweat.
"That's enough heavy lifting for now," Otto said as he began walking to the end of the bridge. He came to a steel door with a circular wheel on it, and he turned the wheel causing a shrieking sound as the door disengaged from the rusted locking mechanism. A staircase was before him, and due to the ship being canted it was much steeper a descent than normal. Otto took cautious steps as he descended downwards.
It was dark down there, and the sound of dripping water could be heard echoing in the dank and musty skeleton of the ship. From out of a compartment in the chest of his suit he pulled out a handheld flashlight. He hadn't gone to the lengths to wire up an LED lighting system on his suit for situations like these yet. As he reached the bottom of the steps the lower deck leaned in a gradual decline downwards. A long hallway would lead down to the engine room and cargo bay, while this side of the ship had several hatches to small rooms on either side. Ignoring the rooms for now, Otto moved towards the end of the ship.
At about a third of the way down he found another staircase that led him to the lowest deck of the ship. He could see shallow water at its base. He descended yet again, his footprints rippling through the puddles of water their. The further down he got on the deck, the more water became prominent. First up to his knees, and then as he came upon the cargo bay it began to get deeper. At the very far end of the cargo bay he could make out the shape of a doorway, a room completed submerged in water. The best parts would be in that room, once he got everything drained. The wet and rusty engine parts would be easy to work with, like a treasure chest of iron ore he could smelt with ease.
Otto noticed a little crab at his feet, trying to pinch at the metal coverings of his feet. He picked the creature up by its foot and dangled it in front of his face with a half cocked grin.
"Feisty one aren't you?" Otto asked the crustacean. The creature responded by swinging towards Otto from its dangling leg, managing to grasp his exposed nose.
"Damn!" Otto yelled as he struggled to unhinge the crabs claw. He knocked over his light, which he had sat on an unassuming barrel. It luckily didn't fall into the water, but it pointed at the wall of the ship and afforded him little light. He managed to get the crab free and hatefully tossed the creature into the water. Holding on to his sore nose with a frown.
Marautis | Bonus points if you catch the reference. Otto is about knee deep in water, and the large room gets to about six feet deep at the very end.

Marautis had already memorised the layout of the entire hull of the forgotten vessel. When he observed the figure beginning to move lower down through the ship, he decided that hiding would eventually become an inevitable task and eventually a confrontation would have to occur. Turning off from the spot in which he floated, momentarily exiting out the side of the compartment he had occupied moments before, he relocated to the opposing side in which a tear had formed in which it was possible to access the second level of the derelict ship. Entering though the aforementioned tear, Marautis arrived stealthily onto the second level of the vessel. Creeping though, his entire body passed through without a mere whisper and he moved from the steep submerged side of the level and moved into ankle deep water, noting a set of stairs leading to the upper deck, the hatch there had been opened. At the opposing end another hatch unlocked, the stranger must have headed down here. Marautis followed the apparent path that the foreigner had taken and appeared down on the final level. The ankle deep water began to deepen at this point and he would move further down into his preferred biota. The lightening in this particular area was not ideal, but Marautis' eyes allowed to adjust to what little levels of light had managed to slither there way in. Moving through the room he saw the figure just outside the cargo bay lighting their own way, preparing to enter. Marautis remained oblivious to his intentions but decided that now was the time to make his presence known. He would open to mouth to speak only to hear the foreigner make the acquaintance first? "Feisty one aren't you?" - "Damn!"Puzzled for a few moments, standing in awkward stillness, processing this. He made out the figure clearer only to see them playing with a small crab, that they had then discarded into the water, fumbling and knocking his source of light over. Realising his presence was still undiscovered, Marautis would now speak confidently to identify himself. "You. Who are you?" projecting his voice down the corridor to the stranger opposing him. As Otto had finished flicking the pesky crab away from him, tending to his pinched nose, he heard a voice echoing throughout the cargo bay. Startled, the scavenger stumbled around a bit until his back hit the wall, making a metallic thud that reverberated around the ship. Otto raised his right arm, rather than a hand at the end of the appendage there were two long barreled tubes with several buttons on a plastic casing. He raised his left hand to brace his gun arm, with a finger slightly below one of the buttons. He had a nervous look in his eye, he had not been expecting company out here.
“I’m just a scavenger, picking off parts,” Otto explained, unable to discern who- or what, was speaking to him.
“Look, I am an engineer. I can have the water in this ship drained by tomorrow. All I want here is the metal, the salvage is all yours,” Otto called out. He had assumed that the only reason someone would be here was to scavenge just like he was.
Otto continued to keep his weapon raised. Searching carefully with his eyes for any indication of where the stranger was at.

Marautis had startled the stranger, he chuckled to himself watching them stumble about. “I’m just a scavenger, picking off parts. Look, I am an engineer. I can have the water in this ship drained by tomorrow. All I want here is the metal, the salvage is all yours,” Marautis stepped forward, to make his appearance more known to the suited man. A dry grin creeping across his face, while his large frame moved forward. "Drain? All the water in this ship? Just for some rusty metal? How selfish..." Marautis chuckled again, "You land dwellers always seem to show such disregard for the ocean and it's vast array of lifeforms. We outnumber you so greatly, I wonder sometimes if you do in fact realise the extend of our populous on this tiny planet. I do believe its the case if not for our presence here, your forms would not have even had the capacity to evolve into what you are today. Typical, land dweller, ignorance. Marautis would of course be jesting with the man, gaining a gauge of his temperament. It was quite ironic in all truth that Marautis would pretend to care about the lives on the organisms down here and suggest the neglect the stranger would apparently show. In total truth it was most likely Marautis to be the most inattentive, somewhat egotistical individual here. "You mean to simply come down here, drain the waters that provide life to hundreds, if not thousands of unique organisms and microorganisms that once upon a time acted as the building blocks for life to evolve on this planet. You're something different aren't you?" Marautis attempted to stifle his laughter and chuckling, finding great amusement in what he found to be quite the gripping performance. Also observing once he had got close enough that the stranger had taken to arms, wielding some sort of fire arm at him. "Touchy are we?" he continued to mock. ( Otto)

As the being stepped nearer to Otto he squinted his eyes trying to make out its features. For a moment he was reminded of a creature that was a part of the space pirate crew that he worked on, though he could make out that it wasn't the same species. Otto eased up somewhat lowering his weapon halfway. He would fight if he had to, but despite his willingness to assassinate people for money the mercenary didn't often kill when their wasn't anything to gain from it. The being went on about how selfish it would be for him to drain out the water from the ship, but Otto picked up on the humor somewhat. He had lived among many aliens in his life, so he sort of had to understand foreign humor in order to survive. Still, he didn't dismiss the idea that the being might lunge at him at any moment.
"Ahh well I mean if you are worried about your buffet by the sea closing down I am sure we could work something out," Otto replied, taking note of the aquatic creatures teeth, which looked like it was an omnivore if not a carnivore outright. "For whatever reason those bastard microorganisms decided not to evolve me a pair of gills... and I am not 100% sure this suit of mine is ready for deep sea exploration,"
"You could bring me back that rusty metal, it should be brittle enough to pull out in large chunks, and i'll leave this evolutionary miracle of life and happy sea friends to live another day," Otto said. "Otherwise, I guess we will be at a bit of an impasse won't we?"

I've practically had my worth with this place. There doesn't seem to be anything for me here." Otto had triggered Marautis' interest though. He did note the stranger kept his weapon raised and seemingly ready to fire at Marautis should things turn nasty. Marautis held his empty palms out now to signal that a sudden attack wouldn't be a worry for the metal incase individual any time soon. "You can lower your weapon? In order for us to strike a deal I'm going to have you get that apparent carbine out of my face. I'd have nothing against heading in to retrieve some scrap for you, yet what's in it for me? Charity isn't my strong point I'll have you know." ( Otto)

Otto knew it, the creature hadn't seriously been some sort of underwater samaritan eco-warrior type. It might mean he would have to come up with some sort of payment for the being helping him out, but at least they had something in common.
"Ha, we aren't so different. Gotta look out for number one am I right?" Otto said with a smirk as he lowered his weapon as requested. "Sorry about the carbine, better safe than sorry,"
Otto brought his left hand to his chin and rubbed it. He wasn't sure what a creature like this would accept as payment. He pondered on it for a bit.
"Well, what makes you tick if not protecting the denizens of Oceana?" Otto asked with both curiosity and a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "I could give you a share of the salvage here, the stuff I am welding off upstairs will sell pretty good,"
"Or maybe you are curious about the topside? I could show you around, I've been offworld most of my life but your less likely to have the average human bother you if you have one of us with you," Otto offered.
"Or with the time you'll save me I could help you hone your fighting skills," Otto was just throwing things out there at this point. He really wasn't sure what to offer the creature.
Marautis |No rush on a response, I just have no life today so I have been firing back whenever a post pops up.

As it seemed to Marautis, this new found stranger wasn't half bad. It wasn't too often Marautis took a liking to others, especially land dwellers, vile! But upon discovering that their might be a reward in this for him, his interest had evidently been sparked, a less wry than usual grin slowly emerging. "Heh, you certainly know how to make a hard sell," he snickered. "I could give you a share of the salvage here, the stuff I am welding off upstairs will sell pretty good. Or maybe you are curious about the topside? I could show you around, I've been offworld most of my life but your less likely to have the average human bother you if you have one of us with you. Or with the time you'll save me I could help you hone your fighting skills?""If you think that junk down there's actually worth something then I'd gladly take a share in it. A lot of it may have rusted away being sunk in the water this long, but who knows what they were working with down there, a bit might actually be worth taking. I can go in and look, but don't try anything stupid while I'm down there. It might just be your luck in the end that I'd give you pleasure to merely even spar with me, hehe. But I'll head down and see what I can find. Marautis - remember that, so you know who to show your gratitude to when I bring some of this stuff back." Marautis approached the doorway, preparing to dive in and explore. ( Otto)

There was still a bit of mistrust between them, but Otto found the creature to be a breath of fresh air. He didn't really know how to act around other humans, but he found himself able to interact much easier with other species. The being had shared its name with him as it threatened him not to do anything funny.
"Come on Marautis, you can trust Otto. If I turned on you i'd have another day of labor on my hands!" Otto joked. "Plus you made me feel bad about the poor starfish and guppies, I would feel awful if I had to drain it,"
Otto grinned a bit as he made a gesture towards the engine room on the deep end of the ship.
"Rusty as it is, the engine should have a great deal of titanium in it. I'll get it melted down into its base component and even salvaging a little will be worth quite a bit," Otto explained. The being had surprised him several times so far, and he didn't doubt its intelligence, but he wasn't sure if Marautis had any idea what an engine was.
"The engine will be large and either cylindrical or box shaped, wider than it is tall. Busting of pieces of it will be the most valuable,"

"The engine will be large and either cylindrical or box shaped, wider than it is tall. Busting of pieces of it will be the most valuable,"With a quick nod of the head in agreement, Marautis slowly sank down into the engine room. Not bring able to identify much initially as the light levels were too low. Soon enough though his eyes would adjust they best they could, the natural lenses flicking over his eyes, he began to make out the shape of the room. Various pipes and cylinders lined the walls, climbing up and down as well as along the walls, joined in various sections lined with big thick bolts which had done they job well obviously, remaining intact even now. A few compartments lined the middle of the room, they labels and diagrams on them indicating their function and safety warnings, ect had worn off. But it would have to be the large box compartment at the end of the room, the engine. It was lucky for Marautis that a majority of the base would have some rust damage and would probably come loose. The side panels encasing it had remained intact however and could not be torn. Gripping tightly onto the top of the engine and bracing his legs up onto the wall behind it, Marautis manage to hinge off the engine, relatively intact. Once removed Marautis managed to swim down and wedge his hands underneath the heftily weighted engine and hoist it up strenuously, cradling it with a fair bit of strain, having to walk it back to the man known as Otto, in a rather crude waddling action. Upon reaching the doorway Marautis dragged himself out and dumped the engine back under the water which submerged a majority of the two men. "It appears it's remained fairly intact and undamaged. Will be a fair job getting it out of here but there's your precious engine any who," Marautis snickered. ( Otto)

"Nicely done, shouldn't be to hard to get out. I'll just cut a hole in the wall over there and drop it out on the shoal," Otto replied. "All that is left to do is to pick the copper wiring out upstairs and i'll get a fire going to smelt out that titanium and give you a nice chunk of the ore,"
Otto took a step back.
"You ever thought about mercenary work?" Otto asked. "I've been looking into finding long term work with a few places, not sure if they will pan out though,"
