Marautis opened his eyes. A dim violet light surrounded him, where was he? His body would twist and turn but he was contained. Curled up, partially suspended in water he floated. Marautis composed himself, now fully awake his eyes adjusted as he took in his surroundings; contained, in a sphere. Light flesh coloured walls surrounded him. He reached out with his arm, a satisfying stretch for the young man. His fingers ran along the surface of his confining walls. They were soft, sort of wet but it was obvious they had begun to dry up. A light shone through the translucent walls and slightly illuminated the confines. He could dimly see, he floated in water by his shoulders, the rest of his body tight and coiled up. He extended his legs and remaining arm, stretching them to their fullest extent. This place was roomy. Looking around Marautis noticed the spherical shape of the object that held him, approximately 7 feet across. He dipped his head under the surface of the water, observing underneath where he floated. His feet dangled into a dark abyss, his eyes adjusted to the dark water and he made out roughly 3 feet of water below his feet and the bottom surface of the sphere. Looking up he met the roof of the chamber just off the tip of his nose. Bringing has hands back to the wall of the compartment, he began to push. The wall would bend out against the force of his hand, almost appearing ready to break. Marautis swished around in the water again, looking first around his immediate surroundings and again in the water, there was nothing here for him. With a swift punch he connected with the walls of the sphere and watched as a tear appeared.
Bright light flooded in, startling Marautis for a few seconds before he regained his poise. He took the tear ripping it outwards, revealing the outside world before him.
A cool sea breeze hit Marautis immediately. He looked out and saw a vast expanse of ocean before him. Where was this place? There were noises. Birds overhead squawked and shrieked at the sudden emergence of Marautis. Waves crashed violently against a cluster of rocks protruding from a nearby chain of islands. The water licked at the sides of split Marautis had made, all it took was one courageous wave to crash in and the chamber began to fill with water and sink. Marautis made the choice to leap out in the ocean and leave his prior inhabitants behind.
Splashing into the water awkwardly, Marautis watched as the bubbles and whitewash cleared from his view and he now observed the ocean. Blue. Blue as far as his eyes could see. There was something else too, beings around him. The odd fish or shrimp would dart around the ocean intruder. Marautis felt them; he somehow, could connect with them. What was this place and what was he doing here? Marautis could hear the thoughts of this fish; he somehow felt its thoughts and intentions.
“Where am I?” he asked, telepathically, to the fish.
No response, the fish was incoherent, it could not communicate comprehensibly. It thoughts were too primitive for that of Marautis’.
Marautis floated alone. He tried to think, to remember. He wandered through the foggy wasteland of his thoughts, there was nothing. His body felt fresh and newborn, never having used these muscles in his body before he felt powerful. But he needed food. Having never expended this kind of energy before, the young man knew he needed food to sustain this, having never properly eaten.
His eyes darted around, inspecting for prey to consume; the fish. It bobbed crassly, most likely searching for its own form of food. About twenty yards off, it weaved and dipped in the water, peacefully, on its own accord.
Marautis launched into action, leaping forward through the water, his powerful legs fluttered commandingly and controlled. He propelled himself through the water in barely a second, his jaws unhinging and opening wide to capture the unsuspecting victim whole. He gulped and felt the fish disappear down his throat. It tasted very nice. He would need more soon, but for now he was content. He needed to explore more.
He swam for a few minutes, in the vast expanse of this new ocean before him. He pondered not only this unknown location but his unknown identity as he torpedoed about. It wasn’t long before his search came to end and he found himself coming ashore a small island outcrop. He surfaced from the water, climbing onto land and feeling the cold sea air whipping around him. The waves crashed somewhat forcefully against the back of his calves, he felt their yearning, pushing him onto this foreign soil. He took a few steps and surveyed the area, it appeared uninhabited, not a single other being in sight. The island was bare for the most part, a flat plain of golden granule sand, a few sturdy tall palms and towards the other side a boundary marked by a cliff of rock face stretching up like a mountain, easily towering Marautis himself.
He cautiously skulked about the island, scrutinising it’s every crevice and nook with great care. He liked this island. After a few minutes of this evaluation of sorts, Marautis had made his way to the other side of the island, among the rocky caves. He would need a home to stay. Not only for protection but to establish a territory for himself, this awareness came naturally to Marautis. He thought to himself for a moment, there was nothing out in the ocean that seemed suitable, although he hadn’t explored it enough yet. This island would do for now, but how would he construct a home here?
The tall rocks and cliffs before him stretched high above his head, and reached far out to sea bridging the gap between ocean and land. He imagined them inside like a series of labyrinths, weathered and worn away over time on the inside, all connected to one another, but sealed away by mother nature herself. If Marautis could get inside there, he surely could live there until he had explored more of his surroundings.
CRACK! He fist rammed into the opposing rock face before him. When the cloud of dust and crumbling stone rubble had settled and Marautis could see again, he was met with disappointment. The section of rock before him crumbled completely and was a standalone structure, not connected to the rocky outpost to sea. Marautis would need to re-evaluate.
Moving through a few small rock pools and such to move closer to the ocean itself, Marautis found another satisfying spot to attempt. He swiftly drew his knee up to his chest, pausing for a quick second to balance and compose himself. Then in one swift and strong moment he thrust his foot forward easily penetrating the pillar of rock before him. Again a plume of rubble and dust formed in the wake of this powerful attack by Marautis. When visibility returned he admired his work, and also his apparent genius. The broken wall of rock had led to what appeared to be a deeper cavern, easily roomy enough for someone to settle in.
Marautis stepped inside, feeling the cool damp floor of the cavern beneath him. He only made it a few steps inside before he realised light was fading, not even his eyes could adjust to accommodate his dark surroundings. He needed light go any further safely. He thought for a quick moment, listening to his innate senses, what did they tell him? Marautis paused on the spot now, it almost seemed to himself…that he could….if he tried to….
An uncanny and unearthly glow flooded the room. Marautis stood in shock as he processed what in fact he was seeing. His outstretched palm, held in the space of its grip a bright luminescent ball of ki. This felt natural to Marautis, the energy present in the palm of his hand he would feel coursing through his body in the same moment. He felt its slight weight of this entity in his hand, he felt its pull to him, as it hovered. Now with a viable source of light, Marautis walked slowly through the cavern, its walls stretched far above him, it was very roomy. He observed the rock walls around him, they had been worn down by past waters that had flowed through here. Eventually he reached the end of the cavern. He felt however that this wall could yet again be demolished and further explored but this would do for now.
The young man sat down now on the spot still grasping his newly formed ball of ki. He rotated and twisted his hand to observe its properties; he appeared in full control of this new found ability. As he played and toyed with the energy formed in his hands he began to think. Who was he? Where did he come from and how did he get here? His mind seemed unable to answer him and it itself seemed in as much a state of shock as he. It seemed to him that only time would fix this, and it also seemed that time was a plenty for Marautis. So he would sit, and contemplate his past as best he could, for now.
So I didn't really do any combat in this post as I just wanted to sort of establish my character more. I hope this doesn't impact negatively on my starting PL, please try to make a fair judgement based on my use of language, grammar, ect. Kept this short and sweet as I said before just to establish my character and such.
