With Koko placed on the stretcher, the Saiyan Goddess began to lead the way down through her Temple's corridors, thanking her foresight into making the descent down via ramps rather than steps as some had requested during its construction. True, making it work via ramps had made the Temple far larger than it required to be, but at least this way those who could not handle stairs could manage to traverse its interior. Those such as the paralytic Saiyan Elite and Brassica's aged "father".
The guards were silent the entire way down, stoic in their features and demeanour as statues carved from flesh. And for good reason. thought Brassica to herself as they slowly descended through the Temple's halls and corridors. The Pit was a natural source of healing waters, capable of restoring even the most grievously ill and injured to their full strength. It held the ability to cure any and all poisons on this world... but there was a problem, which made approaching it to be considered a last resort by many on this world.
It was guarded by an ancient race that slumbered deep beneath the world's surface, and they did not take kindly to those who dared to intrude upon their realm for the life giving waters. The Saiyan Goddess had tried once before in the years past to eradicate this species so that her Simians could benefit from the Pit's waters with far greater ease... but the race below was far more insidious than she had imagined and resisted all her efforts to eradicate them. To describe them in conventional terms, they did not have a solid form... the Pit's guardians were a liquid like species, that could take on a myriad of primitive forms and limbs.
They had no true sentience, only instinct... Brassica had often wondered if these creatures were not only in fact just a single entity spread across the Pit, but also some form of Proto-Majin. She could think of no other species in the galaxy that could regenerate like the Pitians as she had come to call them/it, nor were any other species as malleable as this one appeared to be. She shuddered at the thought that just below her world was a possible Majin Buu just waiting to awaken. The legends alone painted a rather grim picture about the ancestor of the Majin race... and if this world was the source of such a creature...
But whatever the truth about the Pitians, the fact was that they had made the rejuvenating waters their lair and that was where they had to go in order to save Koko's life. Brassica just hoped that she didn't lose any of her warriors in the process. As they began to get closer and closer to the sublevels of the Temple, they passed through several sets of gateways. Each of these served to function as a bulwark against the Pitians and any other subterranian attacks just in case. Each door was a solid slab of stone easily reaching five feet in thickness, and there were five such doors between the Temple and the caves below.
As they passed through each door, each one slamming shut behind them as a security precaution that Brassica had insisted on a decade ago, she began to charge her ki into her hands. With the Pitians one never knew how close they were to the Final Sealed Door, and she didn't want to take any chances. As they approached the sixth and final door, this one easily ten feet thick she gave the signal. The Simians on guard here began to open the door, the stone slab rising swiftly despite its weight thanks to the system of pulleys and counter-weights hidden behind the stone walls. Once the door was wide open, Brassica let out a ferocious roar and unleashed her ki in a massive blast of energy, the scent of boiled water reaching her nose.
"MOVE!" she ordered, all of them breaking into a run as they took the opportunity presented to them to try and close the distance between themselves and the Pit's healing waters. The Saiyan Goddess led the charge, unleashing ki blast after blast at the slowly approaching goop, pushing it back from her Simians and their cargo. In theory she could have flown Koko over to the Pit from the Final Sealed Door, but she recalled what had happened last time she'd tried to fly over this stuff. It had simply just stretched up and had almost taken her if she hadn't been able to blast it back. It's a little hard to shoot at stuff when you're carrying someone after all.
So it was that they reached the waters of the Pit, the Simians beginning the process of lowering Koko's shuddering body into its crystal clear depths. As the Saiyan Elite entered the pool, the Pitians ceased their movements and seemed to retreat for a while. Nobody yet understood why this was, even in the Simian's oldest legends there was no explanation for this behaviour. It was almost as if they understood that someone was in need of saving and would not interfere... at least until that person was out of the waters... then they would renew their attacks with increased vigour.
Brassica began to charge her ki once more, preparing herself for the coming conflict. The process took but a few minutes before the Simians helped Koko back to the surface. The very second her last vestige of flesh left the waters, the Pitians began their march towards them once more. "Get her out of here now! Back to the surface!" cried out the Saiyan Goddess, the Simians half-carrying, half-supporting the Saiyan Elite who was naturally a bit groggy after the procedure. Brassica shot blast after blast as they made their retreat, only stopping once they were safe and sound behind the Final Sealed Door.
The Simian guards slumped against the walls, panting breathlessly from the exertion, the adrenaline rushing through them, and the fact that they had managed to successfully survive the Pit alongside their Goddess. "Well done... each of you..." said Brassica between her breaths. "Let us return Koko to her chambers above, and then you can each take a well deserved vacation for the next week. I'm sure your families will be most eager to hear and indulge your words." she grinned, her soldiers chuckling and nodding at her words. And so the night ended in celebration.
