Gleciar was getting tired of Heaven’s incredibly boring and repetitive landscape. Seriously! This is Namek all over again! HOW THE FUCK DID I STAY THERE FOR A HUNDRED YEARS!? Oh, right… Crash landed and ship broke… Dumb lack of technology in that place… Could have been about of there after ten years, but nope! Had to break to the point i couldn't do jack-shit to get out! Oh… And the houses that were destroyed with the crash… That I had to fix… He stretched for a moment and leaned back on the tree has was under. Huh… And I acted as if I wanted to stay all that time… Shit, I have a really selective memory…
-----
He stood up and started walking. Apparently the first step towards being alive again was getting your body back. And it seemed like there were a lot of ways of doing that… But it seemed like there was a surefire way of doing it, but most people did not return from attempting it. Well, I’m not most people! I’ll take the most dangerous option and make the best of it! Cause… It’s only a mental challenge, I can do that.
He spend a few hours looking for the entrance to the trial, but eventually he did. It was a simple rabbit hole, large enough for a soul to fit in without forcing it to twist and shrink until it fit. So he was just able to slide downwards. Then finally end in a cave. The way back up was too steep to climb without hands and the floating a soul could make was very limited, so there was no turning back. He just floated onwards.
After a long time he found a huge cavern, in the middle a small pod, which seemed quite shallow from far away, but upon further inspection was quite deep. He looked around, but found nothing but stalactites and rocks. He approached the pod just to hear. You wish to find your true self within this land. A distorted voice asked, it sounded as if it was underwater.
He leaned closer to the pond, just for a blue hand to suddenly pop out, grab him and pull him into the depths. As soon as he came in contact with the water he couldn't see anything… There was just a great pressure crushing him and the darkness. It just swallowed him, crushed his very being as it pulled him deeper. I… What’s this!? This was supposed to be a mental challenge! This is anything but that!
IF YOU TRULY WANT TO FIND YOUR TRUE SELF, YOU MUST SEARCH THROUGH THE SEA OF LIES! NOW GO! The voice boomed around him, it sounded so familiar, yet… not.
But suddenly he had his body back and reached the bottom. The darkness opened in front of him and showed a familiar path, he knew he had no other option but walk, so he did. He walked for a few meters, every step making the world around him appear before him. Eventually, he reached his room. The one he had not seen in a hundred years. Toys, clothes, his bed and everything else.
“What… what is the meaning of this…” He muttered, looked at the window and rushed to see planet Arcose as he remembered it, cold and purple, but advanced and imposing too. It was intimidating, but at the same time it invited you to stay. “I… I’m home?” He muttered as he took a few steps back, but as he did he had the biggest shock yet.
His reflection… He was a kid again. He looked through the window. Arcosian kids playing, adults talking and walking about. He couldn’t believe it. He tried to run outside, make sure this was real, he was back and yet… Something didn't feel right.
He ran, trying to go outside, but soon he fell to the ground in a fit of coughs, he heard steps as someone approached, but he was already on the ground coughing up blood.
“Gleciar dear! What did I tell you about running! You know your body can’t handle it!” A kind voice said as its owner picked the Arcosian boy and carried him back into his room.
He turned his head to look at his mother’s face, she had a worried look on her face, which soon turned into a kind smile. “Mo… mom… I…”
“Shush… I’ll get your medicine, now rest.” Borealis said as she stood up and walked away. At the same time Gleciar fell asleep.
-----
Gleciar doubled over, clutching at his chest, as the pain in his chest slowly diminished, the blood receded. "Wha...what was that?", Gleciar sputtered out.
Merely the truth, or perhaps just part of it...
“What truth!? I don’t remember any of this!”
That’s why the sea of lies is so deep… Even you believe them… Now… Let me show you more…
More? He thought as the darkness shaped itself again, this time he was in pain, but at the same time he was laying in something soft.
“We have to do something, Eis! Ever since the incident with on planet Meat Gleciar doesn’t listen to us any more, he was so eager to start his training despite his condition… Now… We can’t control him… And it is just making it worse.” Borealis said to her husband.
“I know, but what can we do? It’s not like we can leave Arcose so he can grow up in a place where he’ll be stable enough to live a normal life.” The boy’s father said as he turned to see his seemingly sleeping son. “He has gotten terrible ideas of our kind because of what he saw… Our line of work… Is not something I am proud of, but we do what we must… There is not much else we can do.”
“We could send him away.”
“Are you crazy, Lis?”
“No, listen to me here, there are many peaceful species that would take him as one of their own and a few of those live in planets where he could be taken care of.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“I AM NOT!” She screamed as she stood up, then her expression softened a bit and sat back down. “I’m not… But if he keeps going like this… He’ll die.” At this point she broke down to tears, Eis holding her against his chest for a few minutes until she calmed down. Even if he himself wanted to cry too, he couldn’t show weakness, he needed to be strong for both of them.
“We’ll send him to Namek.” She finally said once she regained control of herself. “He idolises the Namekians and Humans, but the latter aren’t trustworthy. We’ll send him to them. They’ll take care of him, maybe after some time he’ll return finally cured.”
“Do you really wish to take that gamble?”
“We don’t have any other options…”
He let out a sigh. “Ante up, then.”
-----
This time, Gleciar didn’t know what to say. As the darkness returned he felt his mind become more… clear. He could suddenly remember most of his life, everything that used to be a haze, was now clear.
So… What did you see? Finally the truth?
Gleciar didn’t know… He didn’t escape, he was sent away. He didn’t crash for lack of flying experience and had to repair everything he destroyed plus his ship. No, he had a perfect landing, he had a note with him… of his mother begging the locals to take care of him. He didn’t spend a hundred years working and training. He spent over fifty being nursed to the health of a little kid, just to be trained to have the strength of an untrained Arcosian child for the next forty or so. The last few years he had gotten delusions of grandeur, when he met Daiki he acted so superior, but he was much weaker even if he had been training for much longer.
He not only lacked control over his transformations, but he also couldn't handle them in the least, both mentally and physically. That’s why it took so long. That’s why he took up meditation. That’s why he was so pathetic compared to everyone.
Speaking of everyone… The voice spoke again, but instead of the harsh, yet wise tone, this one sounded full of madness and hatred. Your so called friends that you claim you care so much about… Did you actually care about any of them?
“What.” Gleciar said through clenched teeth.
Y’know… Everyone you’ve met on your travels. Let’s start from the beginning… Actually, no. The second person you met. Good Ol’ Beryl Roarke.
“What about him?”
You claimed he was your friend, but you never spoke to the poor fool ever again. You proclaimed yourself as his rival as a hero of justice, yet you fought dirty and never talked to him again.
“It ain't easy to find someone on such a large planet as Earth!”
BULLSHIT! HE GAVE YOU HIS PHONE! You didn’t even call to say hi! Those words made Gleciar’s eyes shift to a side in shame. Oh? Did I strike a nerve? How about Mister Bigby 101?
“HE DIED YOU INSANE BASTARD!”
You know as well as I do that he was rebuild, you heard about it, but you never cared enough to actually go meet him. You didn’t even go see him blow himself up! You just tried to fix your computer and cried!
“SHUT UP!”
I won't even bring up Komoto since your hatred of him was quite obvious. Let’s see… Alex Kells? The possessed boy. You heard perfectly what his demonic father said, yet you the self proclaimed hero of justice gave up on him as quickly as you met him.
“Vi-Poi happened! I didn’t have time after that!”
Oh, right… You died.. Poor you… Now… How about your dear Master? Ninjin. She disappeared along with Toma, yet you didn’t even say good bye. No, you turned your back on them and found a new master.
“You know that isn’t how it happened! She retired! And left to take care of her family!”
Well… How about the others? Bing, Tomare, Jarvis, Kaula, Reikiko, Zucceta, Zexama, Nova, Alaistair, Zerori, Johnathan, Mensis, Ken, Jutsu… Wyntre.
“You think it’s funny what you are doing?! Putting the idea that I hate everyone I’ve ever known or met?”
Actually… It’s hilarious. But what about your family.
“I WAS WORKING ON THAT! But again! Vi-Poi!”
Excuses… You could have ignored that, but you decided to go for avenge people you didn’t even care about!
“I did care about them! They where my family! I was one of them! And nothing you can say will change that!”
Fine, fine. Don't get all pissy on me… So… About your ‘team’? This... C.O.S.M.O.S.?
“Are you really going there?”
Oh, yes. Sasha and her fool of a brother? One is just a lovesick idiot, while the other died trying to do something that was way out of his league.
“Shut… up…”
And finally, your so called best friend. The one that when you first met you treated like a little kid, but then you suddenly acted as if you had known eachother for years. No, you met a few times before the tournament, but still. It does not fit you to try to act cool, especially when this so-called "Best Friend" of yours knows as little about you as you do about him...
“No, shut the fuck up.”
Another nerve touched?
“You could say that.” Despite how angry Gleciar was, he was surprisingly calm. “Now, show yourself. I’m tired of your games.”
How can you be tired of my games? The voice suddenly stopped coming from everywhere around him in this darkness. It came from someone in front of him. And now it was clear, the voice was his own. He knew it even before his body approached him. When I am you?
Gleciar stared blankly at himself before screaming. “No… GIVE ME BACK MY BODY!”
Alright. If you wanted it you could have asked earlier. He snapped his finger and suddenly he was no longer just a soul, he had his body again. Anything else, me?
“Yes, stop saying all this bullshit right now!”
Why? I am just saying what I think… And I think that I suck. Everyone should be glad I died! I am a sociopath after all!
“NO! JUST GO AWAY!"
That’s what everyone thinks about us, don't you think, me?
“YOU ARE NOT ME!”
Oh, but I am… He said letting out a chuckle. I am a Shadow. The true self. But you won't accept that no matter what I say… Fine then.
The Shadow rushed Gleciar, leaving an afterimage behind him, then quickly appearing behind him and kicking him in the back. YOU ARE WEAK! FOR THAT I WON'T LET YOU ESCAPE! EITHER SEE THE TRUTH OR LET OR SOUL VANISH INTO NOTHING! He started hitting Gleciar without giving him a chance to breath.
“No…” Gleciar said as he finally blocked one of the many hits. “I will not perish!” He blocked another as The Shadow kept attacking, even so out of every twenty attacks he only blocked five.
THEN SHOW ME THE TRUTH AND YOUR WILL TO SURVIVE! KI-NO-KEN! Shadow’s fist was suddenly covered in a fiery Ki and punched Gleciar in the gut, leaving him winded. UPTEMPO CRASH! He kicked Gleciar into the air, following it up with a powerful kick to the gut, springing off and landing gracefully as Gleciar hit the ground painfully.
Before he could even recover from the attack to consider why his ‘Shadow’ could use his friend’s attacks, it created a pair of energy rings that wrapped around his wrists and forced him to the ground. GET READY! BECAUSE THIS IS YOUR END! HEAVEN PIERCER! He shouted as he recreated Articho’s signature attack, turning his Ki into a giant drill.
“No… You… WILL NOT MESS WITH MY FRIENDS!” He said as he suddenly broke the shackles that kept him on the ground. “YOU WILL SUFFER FOR THIS!” He clapped his hands and gathered energy in them at a rate much faster than he normally would. “MAGNA CROSS!” He unleashed his strongest blast of energy as the Shadow dived down.
He didn’t even feel the least bit tired from the attack, when it would usually leave him with little to no energy. Nevermind that, where is he? He looked around only to find a pile of dust… which let out a loud chuckle as it reformed into his own body. Good, good. You are finally fighting back… But you still haven't seen the truth! He shouted as he dashed back into the fight.
But unlike last time, this time Gleciar was fighting back, not just blocking, but hitting back and countering. “The truth? YOU WANT THE TRUTH!? FINE!” He shouted back at the Shadow, without stopping his assault. “You are right! I’ve thought all of those things you said! Blowing my insecurities, failures and and everything wrong with me out of proportion!”
With each word Gleciar started to take control of the battle, The Shadow grimaced for a second, but the kept going with a neutral expression in his face. “You are right! You are me! You are the dark part of me that I always worry will take over! The part of me that thinks that if I slip I will kill everyone I know in a blind and feral rage! The part that is uncaring. The part that I’ve tried to deny since I decided I would become a hero. The part that I have feared since the day I saw my parents’ work.”
He finally gained full control over the battle, keeping the shadow at bay with each punch, kick, slam and anything inbetween. “You are me! But you are NOT everything I am! I do care about all of my friends, my family and brothers. I do truly wish to be better! I do wish to protect others and be a hero! I will never embrace you! But if you are so desperate for it! I shall acknowledge you!”
Finally… Now finish this with me…
They nodded in unison as they both created their own blades of energy, one a fiery orange and the other a bloody red. “MAGNA...” DENSETSU... “SWORD!” RAZOR! They screamed in unison as their blades of energy clashed.
“I am Gleciar Avierno. An Arcosian born with a disease that made the harshness of my home planet nearly kill me multiple times. I grew up on Namek, where I was cured and raised. A hundred years later I left for Earth, where I raged many battles and made friends, allies and enemies. Now I am dead. AND I SHALL BE REBORN AS THE TRUE WARRIOR OF JUSTICE I ALWAYS WISHED TO BE! This time… I’ll do it right. Now… I’ve faced my darkness… Even i will never let it take over. I shall accept it, letting it give me balance.”
Good… Said the Shadow, the clash was over… Only the original was left, the other had been cut in half, now it was turning into dust which quickly swirled around Gleciar and poured into him. Then, he passed out, the darkness swallowed him once again. This time it wasn't crushing, it was enveloping him. Enjoy your body… Don’t waste it...
-----
Some time later he woke up, his body stiff, but working. He was lying on the ground. He turned around and sat up. He was no longer at the cave? This is the… grassy field… He looked up just to see the same tree he had been sitting under earlier. “What the fuck…”
Did I… Did I just imagine all that? No… I have my body… Why… does it feel like I should know what’s going on here… Maybe I should ask someone...
He stood up, stretched and flexed his muscles. I said I would be better… But for that I need to control my full power… He sighed and took a deep breath, in a fraction of a second his body had transformed into his Brute form. This is the first step. If I master this form, I’ll be able to master my true form soon enough.
I’m still outside. Once again in the boring ass Heaven… I kinda wish I had gone to Hell… Hmn… I wonder if I could go there… Yeah! I’ll try that! But first… I should find Benny and say hello... I don’t wanna keep acting like an asshole like… I… pointed out... Plus… I CAN TELL HIM ABOUT SASHA AND ARTI’S DATE~! He laughed as he flew off in search of the spirit of his friend.

He stood up and started walking. Apparently the first step towards being alive again was getting your body back. And it seemed like there were a lot of ways of doing that… But it seemed like there was a surefire way of doing it, but most people did not return from attempting it. Well, I’m not most people!
