[Thread PL: 103,952 Makyo Moon activated]
The thug fell back as he tried to scramble away, his eyes wide in fright. It had been so simple too. Follow some rich looking broad, follow her into an alleyway, and then jump her for her money. What he hadn't expected as this creepy guy to appear out of nowhere and suddenly everything go all crazy. If the thug wasn't so sure he had been clean for this last week, he would have sworn he was having one bad acid trip.
The alleyway he was in seemed to ripple and twist, his prey having already escaped. Now, this tall, skinny, red haired man with the shades and one hell of a creepy grin stood before him, standing over him.
"Such a bad boy," the man spoke. Even his voice gave the thug the creeps. "Didn't your mother ever tell you how to play with girls?"
The thug tried to pull himself up, propping himself up on a trash can. However, suddenly what he thought was a trash can suddenly snapped at him, snarling and barking, causing the thug to fall back down and scramble away from the 'thing' as fast as he could. All around him, the alley seemed to melt, seemingly mundane objects taking on new forms, new more sinister forms. Even the sky seemed to change, going from a simple night sky to a sinister orange. His eyes, wide with panic, turned to the man who was slowly approaching him.
"Wh-What the f%@k are you!?" he yelled out, suddenly scrambling to his feet. He only just remembered the switchblade in his hands. He tried to lunge for him, trying to stab the gangly man. However, his body seemed to twist out of the way, a thin hand grasping his wrist with a frightening amount of strength.
"Me?" Lunar spoke up, his voice taking on a twisted, distorted tone as his shades slipped down his nose, revealing glowing red eyes. "Why, I'm just your friendly neighborhood doctor."
Lunar let out a demented cackle as before the thug's eyes, his face became gaunt, pale, almost like a walking corpse. Unable to take anymore, the thug screamed in terror, before his eyes rolled back into his head and he went limp. Lunar stared at him for a moment longer before the manic grin faded to a simple smile. Around him, the alley returned to normal, along with Lunar himself.
"Didn't last very long, did he?" he mused to himself, somewhat disappointed as he let the thug drop to the ground. Oh well, there were still plenty of people in this city.

(Heavy Weights, Affected by the Makyo Star, PL for thread: 201,880)
For the most part, she prepared herself for this moment when it happened. However, she’d not yet been able to calculate properly when the damn star would reach this sector of the galaxy. So, for her part, she was prepared.
The setting she chose to relax in was one of drinking, talking, a sensual atmosphere and a lot of under the table jobs that were just waiting to rub dirt over. She was sat in a bar stool with a back to it, leaned over the table with her drink held in her hand. Her face was stuffed between her arms and she could occasionally be heard making slight noises when anyone tried to approach her. Her muscles twitched when anyone touched her; a slight graze along her back, a pat on the shoulder. Someone almost made the mistake of touching her tail but a very loud growl as a warning worked as a deterrent.
It wasn’t until she felt another hand on her shoulder than she finally came up from the arms of her retreat and looked at the bartender ahead of her. When he shook his head at her, she turned around to try and find her touched her. Alas, it wasn’t anyone and she just gave an exasperated sigh before getting up from the bar. I can’t stay here or someone… many some ones’, are going to find themselves with an unfortunate case of leg limp… Picking up her drink from the table, a vodka with a strawberry chaser to ease her stomach, she knocked it back and taped the bar.
She leaned her head back to almost looking behind her to stretch the neck muscles, her eyes closed as she pulled them to and fro. When her credit chip was finally charged, she opened her eyes and looked back down at the bar and pocketed it. However, something caught her eye before that and she did a double take, looking back at the wall her eyes noticed for a fraction of a second. There… something warped and twisted but no one seemed to notice at all… and then it was gone. Frozen in place, she tried to reason what happened in her mind before she frowned deeply.
And I thought my night was going to be relaxing… She thought dryly before walking toward the exit of the bar. When she was outside, she turned to the right and eyed the alley way that was right next to the establishment – it didn’t take a genius to know it came from there, if it came from anywhere. She pushed uncertainty aside and entered the opening of the alley, looking for anything suspicious. What she found… she could definitely classify as ‘kind of fucking weird’.
From the angle she could see it was a person with red hair in a strange black ad red dress… or it looked like a dress from behind. They wore boots and seemed to have an overcoat or some sort over the dress. And just in front of them was a man lying on the ground, Okay, maybe they had a fight. What the fuck am I, a cop? She was just about to walk away and wash the back of her mind of the entire thing, when something occurred to her.
Did humans fight with strange powers or warp space and time? Did she just imagine what happened on the wall – which coincidentally was next to said fight? And who the hell wore a trench coat over a dress… and won a fight in it? She turned back to the suspect, then, and decided. What the hell, why not?
“Couldn’t help but notice some strange shit going on?” She spoke out loud, keeping her gaze trained on their every move, “Mind explaining what happened here…Sir… M’am?” Now that she looked at their hair, she couldn’t quite tell their gender…

Lunar was no stranger to the demonic essences that seemed to purvey this city. It seemed the Western Capitol was a haven for such entities. Not that the scholar went out to actively seek them. Whenever he thought about them, his mind would always trail back to...that...time...
However, there were some that he noticed out of the rest, those who weren't entirely demonic. Something of a mix, a bit like himself really. He had sensed one such power in the bar, which was why he was in the general area. However, due to his distraction with the thug, he hadn't noticed them come out of the bar until she had addressed him.
Lunar slowly turned, his eyes training on the person before him. A female, well muscled, oozing strength and the will to use it and, was that a tail? Lunar quickly put two and two together. A Saiyan with some demonic influences in her. Lunar couldn't help but smile.
"Ah, my dearest apologies," he spoke up, his voice clearly defining him as a male (seriously, why did people have so much trouble distinguishing his gender?), "Just dealing with some of the rabble in this city. This man here," he prodded the unconscious man with his boot, "Was trying to rob a poor, defenseless woman. Now, while I'm normally one for letting people fend for themselves, I figured I'd step in and deal with him." It seems she had seen what had happened. The illusions had meant to be for the thug's eyes only. Had he gone a bit far and let them seep into the neighboring buildings? He really needed to be more careful, especially when the Makyo Moon was out.
Lunar turned full body towards this lovely demonic saiyan and gave her a polite bow. "Doctor Lunar Mensis, at your service."

Okay, this guys is creepy as fuck, Came the stray thought as he turned to her, giving an apology but she could see that it was clearly an act. Though he truly was male – or at least sounded like it – she felt as though he had this feminine grace that just threw her off balance every time he smiled. As he explained his reason for being there, Zerori would glance back down at the body and wonder if it was even alive. Sure, she didn’t see any wounds or lesions, but that didn’t mean that he wasn’t injured. And the next thought to pass was why she gave a damn if this man told the truth. He turned completely to her and she tensed, taking a barely noticeable step back as he introduced himself.
A doctor…? A doctor took down this man by himself? Maybe it’s just how I think, but… I didn’t think a man or woman of healing could fight. That lead her right back to her original suspicions and she crossed her arms, walking toward him in a slow calculating manner.
“And he’s alive, right?” She asked, just barely passing his side to peer down at the man on the ground. It was barely noticeable… but he was breathing. She could believe him for now. Relaxing her body for the moment, she let her crossed her fall to her sides, “Fine, Doctor Mensis… you’re off the hook,” She told him, obviously enjoying the idea of playing a blue-coat for the night, and grinned at him, “The names Zerori,” She told him, returning the introduction before finally asking what had been on her mind, “-and can you tell me what kind of powers let’s you warp reality? Since we’re being honest, of course, I figure it shouldn’t be too hard to explain, right?”

"Oh, he's quite alive. Just feinted from terror, that's all. Quite sad really. Humans give out under the slightest of stress." he gave a sad sigh, "It would be a long while before my work is done. Hopefully, I'll get some favourable results soon." He watched as she checked herself if he was alive, before stating that he was 'off the hook'. He couldn't help but feel touched. A superior being showing compassion towards a weaker species. Then again, she might have been joking. She certainly seemed like it. And a person of her strength definitely had her share of battle.
Then came the question about his abilities. He figured it would come up sooner or later. "Oh, I wouldn't go as far as to say that." he gave a chuckle as he waved his hand. The area around them began to shift and change. Nothing too extreme, and if Zerori noticed, none of the nearby civilians seemed to react. "My power is nothing but mere illusion. Tricks of the senses. Though one would be surprised just how effective that can be." He looked down at his hands. "Not that I'm completely powerless. My strength and powers always seem to be growing."
He then turned his eyes back to Zerori. "And what about you Miss Zerori? I see you're a Saiyan, yet there's something about you. Something more." His smile seemed to widen. "I must say, It's quite alluring."

Her gaze was pulled to the streets as he performed his demonstration, watching as some of the objects that were meant to stay put, moved as if on their own. She swallowed, having just come from a history lesson with an old Makaioshin that depicted beings that were able to change realities. Was this one a part of that? Was this man also a demon, like her? For every rock I overturn, it seems the hole just keeps getting deeper and deeper… He spoke of power that was mostly harmless but she was certain that under the right circumstances he could be just as deadly as she. When the question was bounced back to her about what she was, it was clear he had a good idea about her other half.
The side of her mouth twitched, off put but also intrigued by his interest in her other half. She was alluring to him, but she couldn’t understand why. Wanting to get to the root of it, she spoke firmly, “Half of me is demon, and that’s hardly a secret. If that’s so alluring,” She mocked, emphasizing his words, “-why not throw it out in the open, huh? You’re a demon, aren’t you? No need to hide from me if we’re the same, right?” Without realizing it, her tone was intimidating, demanding and she could only just barely feel the ability to hold herself from… what? From attacking him? From something worse? Something better?
I don’t have time for this, She noted with a growl and brought a hand to slide through her hair. She needed to keep some semblance of cool if she was to speak with this man… demon. She revisited what he spoke up before, something about a result or something or other? “What were you doing to this guy? Some sort of experiment?”

So, Zerori was half demon huh? He suspected as much, but he had to be certain. Evolution through breeding was one way Lunar could achieve his goal of raising up humanity. But without a proper amount of stock, breeding could only go so far. After all, HE wasn't born this way, but became it. He wanted to do the same to others. Though judging from her tone, she wasn't particularly proud of that part of her. Why? That made her more than just a regular saiyan. But, he didn't want to push buttons.
At the mention of his own demonic side, Lunar's mouth twitched upwards. No, he couldn't think about that. Not about all those years that molded him into what he was. He had to keep himself calm, controlled. "I guess you can say that," he said with a small shrug, "Though in reality, I'm just a regular human who, through various...events...has achieved a new form of existance."
He had to get off topic. Otherwise he was going to start laughing, and that just might creep Zerori out. Thankfully, she brought up one of his most favourite subjects. His experiments. "You can say that. Are you familiar with the concept of evolution? The way a raise changes and adapts in order to suit its surroundings. It's sort of like that. Only in this case, I bring the subjects into situations they are not adept to. I want to see just how far I can push them. And then, push them even further."

She could see something, not entirely apparent to her however, that she had said caused him to think about his answer. Was it discomfort, or even shame? A brow raised in confusion at his reaction and she came to conclusion that he disliked talking about it. Well, ain't that bitch. Sorry, not sorry. When he responded to her, it was all she could do to hold back her morbid fascination.
This was a demon... And was not, at the same time. "How did you...?" She stopped. This was the subject he seemed to want to avoid and she couldn't deny that it touched a subject of science (or lack thereof) that she didn't dare tread yet. However, she rolled her eyes at his excitement of experimentation. "So you like to see how far you can push people," She clarified, less a question and more a statement, "Hate to break it to ya, but you're going about it the way a serial killer looks for his next victim's last breaths." She didn't care about the humans he attacked, or even defended!, but she couldn't deny that if this man was anything like her mother - he'd cause enough trouble for her to get 'job' on him.
And she didn't know how she would feel killing one of her own people. By the gods, when we're they my people? Back the fuck up, Zerori. Her emotions on high, she growled softly, "Give me one good reason to leave you to your experiments. Make it as colorful as you can..."

Lunar quirked an eyebrow at her comparison. "A serial killer? Oh dear Miss Zerori, you misunderstand me. You think I take joy in seeing these people break under the strain? Watching them collapse? No, not at all. What I want is to see them succeed! To see them overcome their trials, to endure and become stronger because of it. After all...it worked with me. And I get the suspicion that you've experienced your share of suffering as well. Our suffering is what makes us stronger."
He held his hands behind his back, beginning to pace back and forth. He was aware of the threat behind her words, and yet held no fear to her.
He had endured so much worse, than anything she could probably dish out.
"Humanity...It's such a small race, isn't it? I mean, sure, we have technology, sentience, but compared to the other wonderful races of this universe, we're just, well, basic. I mean, look at the Namekian's regeneration, the Saiyan's Oozaru, the Arcosian's transformations. All of these magnificent races, a marvel of evolution. I want to bring humanity up to this level, to bring them up to the level in which I have achieved. In which WE have achieved. And, well, if a method works, try it."

“’Do you enjoy it?’” She parroted incredulously after he was finished speaking, as if the very comparison she made was an insult. His words got under her skin and she could almost feel her barely contained restraint slipping with his words, “It doesn’t matter if you enjoy it or not; what you’re doing is taking the reactions of one person and straining them,” For a moment, she didn’t say anything and simply closed her eyes to seek some sort of calm within her mind. If she was going to battle it out in anything that resembled an intellectual stage, she was going to do it without the power of the Makyo Star berating down her to simply kill him and be done with it.
So she listened.
For the moment, she was glad that she did. His ‘vision’, or what she guessed it was, consisted of a world of humans – himself included – that were stronger and more evolved than they truly were. As much as the goal was admirable and a full of promise, the fact of the matter was that she didn’t think he had the means to make it happen. Further than that…
“Humans are humans because of their ability to adapt, Doctor Mensis, and while I admire your enthusiasm, it’s misguided as hell…” She began, and didn’t bother to allow him to speak as she explained further, “I’ve been on this planet for a month, nearly two, and by simple observations – they’ve surprised me time and time again. I won’t deny that they’re inherently weak and a species that is easily manipulated and coerced, but to say that simple exercises like this can even hope to pull a species into the steps of evolution are a fools errand.” She cracked her neck, summing up her words in few succinct phrases. “I learned a phrase from these people, Doctor, and I think it applies here…”
With a firm voice, she quoted, “’Go big or go home.’”

As Zerori spoke, the smile slowly faded from Lunar's face, possibly for the first time since their conversation. Humans are humans because they can adapt? Any sentient being could adapt. That was one of the perks of being sentient! The problem with it though was that it stunted evolution. If you were in a cold climate, why bother evolving to adapt to it when you can simply construct a warm shelter? Why bother developing the ability to breath in space when you can make devices to do it for you? Humanity's ability to adapt is what put it behind everyone else. Humanity wasn't simply going to evolve on its own. It had to be forced!
Just like he was!
A twisted grin slowly spread on his face as the memories came flooding back. As Zerori finished her little tirade, a demented giggle escaped from the doctor's mouth. "A fools errand you say? What would you know? You were born with your gifts." his voice was starting to become strangled as frightening bouts of laughter escaped him. "If you think I should go bigger, then how about this!?" Suddenly he thrust his hand out at her. But his intention wasn't to grab her.
What flashed through Zerori's mind was beyond description. Well, almost. Some words described it very well. Horror. Pain. Agony. Terror beyond belief. Being pushed beyond humans limits, and driven into unknown depths. This wasn't a simple illusion. It was a memory. A memory of this very real, destroying agony. Not just physically, but also mentally, spiritually. And yet, not being allowed to die, to fade away. To be forced to keep existing through this horrible pain.
And through it all, a cacophony of screams. Screams of a man. The man in front of her.
Screams that slowly turned into hideous laughter...
As abruptly as the horrific vision begun, it ended. Lunar stumbled back, proping himself up against the wall, manically giggling. His face was twisted by a sick grin, and yet tears streamed down his eyes.
"Is that big enough...do you think...?"

She was ready for anything, she assured herself. Whatever power he possessed that could bend reality to his will, no matter how weak he claimed his power was, she resolved herself to beat it out and make certain he wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. She was ready. However… when his words took on an almost manic tone and she could swear he was trying to laugh but it sounded twisted and forced, like he was fighting against something. Zerori frowned, only slightly irritated at having her heritage thrown back at her, but not for a reason she was used to responding with. Demonic power, saiyan power – she had no control over what she was born to be. The very thought nearly had her strange the man before her, If I could have chosen, I would have!
He thrust his hand out at her and she stepped back into a defensive stance, one arm igniting like a match to oil – however, the hit never came.
Visions streamed through her mind’s eye, imagery and sound, combined with emotions she’d hoped to never voluntarily experience surged through her being like rapids along rocks. On the outside, her legs shook and she felt to one knee. One inside, she looked on at the man whom screamed over and over again – whatever assault he went through was felt by her and nearly sprung to life her own pain she’d fought to disguise.
When it was over, and she was brought to one knee from the ordeal, she was breathing hard. Sweat dropped from her brow onto the ground and she could just barely hear the echoes of a little girl crying for her father before she closed her eyes, fading back into the recesses of her mind. When she opened them back up to glare at the man whom violated her mind, it only took a glance for her resolve to – once again – buckle.
If the exhaustion she could see wasn’t proof enough that the ordeal stressed him, then the tears cemented the distaste at causing harm to him. However, despite the vision, she was still left with the question to respond to. She glanced to the ground before looking back up at him, pushing against her knee to rise against it to her feet. Her cerulean gaze, only slightly hazed by red from the effects of the Makyo Star, bore down on him before she held her hand out.
“Come with me.”

Lunar's body was still trembling, reeling from the effects of even having to REMEMBER those times. Even though it was just that, a memory, he swore he could still feel the lingering pain he had endured. The pain that had made him what he was. Did she understand now? He wasn't just some academic who was working on merely a theory. The man was living proof that his methods were sound, that what he was trying to achieve could truly be accomplished. It seemed the ordeal had some affect on her, seeing as it managed to bring her to one knee. If the mere memory of it could do that to someone as strong as her...
He watched as she stood up, regaining her composure a heck of a lot faster than Lunar did. The gangly man was still propped up against the wall, trying to calm himself down. When she held out a hand to him, he seemed to stare at it, confused for a moment. As he managed to will himself to calm, that twisted smile slowly fading from his face, he reached out to take the hand, curious as to what the hybrid was planning for him.

Zerori observed his reaction to her out stretched hand, taking in with satisfaction that he was hesitant to accept her hand. He had no idea what she had in mind and she, though she would never admit it, hardly knew what she was doing herself. The vision he inserted into her mind, though it was to prove to her that he was stronger because of his terrible experiences, made her think about something. As much as she enjoyed the study of cultures from the distance – and their treasure, of course – in the recesses of her mind, she desired more. Seeing what he saw and felt, she wanted to see just how… passionate he was about his ambition.
Grasping his hand, she offered no explanation before pulling him to her and leering up at him, “Stay close,” before taking a quick and powerful step into the dormant slow winds. To her it was like time was in fast forward and every movement she made would change her direction and speed just before she could impact anything in front of her. To Lunar… it would feel like he was being swept into currents of wind that would almost bowl him over, but she held tightly to him as they traveled. If he concentrated hard enough as they moved, he could see where they traveled like they were going at light speed. This technique was dubbed by Zerori as the ‘Wind Step’ and it involved precise cutting, folding and manipulation of the wind to utilize it as functional transportation.
When they finally stopped, Zerori’s boot touched the solid metal of a rounded roof, balanced by standing at the top-most middle. Before them were people all gathered around a cul-de-sac, sashaying and grinding to a beat in what would appear to be a night party. Zerori, for her role in knowing about this, had come here just prior to relaxing at the bar. She’d had an incident with a couple of dancers when they close but didn’t accept her offer to get closer, screaming about ‘sexual harassment’. She eyed them curiously and noted their youthful appearance. She’d kill two birds with one stone this way.
Glancing at him from her position on the building, she sat down and spoke softly, “You want to see humans succeed and become more than what they are; that is a sentiment I am about to reveal to you that we share. However, this will be up to you in how well they will survive this situation,” She raised her hand and a small spark seemed to glint on the inside of her palm, “-You will have three minutes - no more - to tell them how they should escape and find a solution to the problems as they arise.”
She placed her thumb and middle finger together and raised her hand palm-up, before snapping them and throwing her index finger out to release an almost near invisible ignition to the plastic streamers that surrounded the party. Like a cascade effect, the streamers fell and trapped the party-goers and the flames used anything around them (even some unfortunate people) as it’s kindling. With a somber expression, she looked at him from the corner of her eye.
“Their time is running out to save themselves, Doctor.”

Lunar couldn't help but feel a little bit of relief that she simply didn't throw him across the street when she took his hand, instead pulling him close and suddenly taking off in incredible speed. It amazed Lunar just some of the things people could accomplish. He knew that the strong could move at high speeds given training, but this was something else entirely. He had to learn how to get around in such a manner. It would be really useful.
When the finally stopped, it took the good 'doctor' a brief moment to take in his surroundings, to figure out where he was. He looked down from the roof to see the party going on down below. What was so special about this place? People gathered and had parties all the time. What did this have to do with growing stronger? With evolution.
Then Zerori answered his silent question for him. Throwing a spark down, he watched as the party goers were suddenly trapped in a ring of fire, an inferno that only seemed to grow, closing in on the unfortunate humans. A test? A test to see how they survived? No, more a test for himself, to how he could help them survive.
But, that seemed the opposite to his goals right? If he helped them, they weren't getting better. If they died, then they were just another stepping stone on the path of evolution, correct?
As he thought this, those memories, that brief glimpse of what he showed Zerori came to mind. The agony he had suffered. Not being allowed to die.
Not being allowed to die...
People couldn't grow stronger if they died.
Finally understanding, he began trying to figure out what to do. He couldn't just go down there and put the flames out. These people had to figure out how to escape for themselves. They had to work out the problem. All Lunar could do was really point them in the right direction, without actually pointing. Thankfully, Lunar had become rather skilled with doing things without having to physically do anything.
His eyes scanned the steadily shrinking area, finally spotting a table where the drinks were being kept. No doubt most of them were alcoholic, but there had to be some non alcoholic drinks such as water and such. He really doubted they were THAT irresponsible. He could see the numerous kegs and containers that held them.
With a flick of his hands, he played a small trick of the light. The light reflecting off of the kegs flashed a bright green, not enough to seem out of place, but definitely something that would catch someone's attention. Hopefully there would be enough liquid in there to douse at least some of the flames.
Not all, but enough to make a hole in the steadily growing ring. He looked around for where the ring was narrowest, seeing a point that led into an alleyway. Using the same trick, he formed a small arch, nothing too fantastic, something that would look like it had been set up for the party. Blue light reflected off of it, hoping to attract attention. It seemed simply enough. Use the non flammable liquid to douse the flames by the arch, allowing them to escape. Judging by the tensity of the situation, they wouldn't question where the arch had come from, simply taking a good thing when they saw it and used it to escape.
With that done, he waited. He hoped somebody in that crowd figured it out. A simple problem, but one that most people would fail due to stress and panic.
