Yo peeps. I was thinking about it recently, and I thought it might be helpful for new players if we added a sort of Population counter. The only problem with such a thing is that it may be hard to keep track of who is on what planet if they move around, so I thought of a system. (V Image Below is a Rough Draft made in Photoshop) With this system you would first click the bottom button to signify that your character is on said planet. Afterwards the number of players on planet would go up (obviously). If you sign in on a different planet your number transfers to the planet you are now on. The planet you are on could even show up on your mini-profile. This might help add a bit of diversity (EX: "Oh, this planet is low on players, maybe I'll make a character there!"). Of course, the opposite could also be true (EX: "Oh boy, this planet only has three players? Better stay away from it") but the latter example would already be a problem if they just looked at the amount of threads being created there. I assume it might be difficult to add in something like this, so maybe each planet could be a hidden group or something. Tell me what you guys think of this. It needs a bit more flushing out, that's what I'm sure of.

Is this something you actually worked out in a test forum, or is it a picture model of something you're wanting?
I'm not sure how to work that on the style sheet. Is there a plugin for it? Groups might work.
If we had some system like this, we might be able to offer bonuses based on low populations. Just a thought. Neat idea, will have to think on it some more before I form a hard opinion.

The image shown is a rough draft of the idea made in Photoshop.
Not sure how exactly Proboards (or any forum) work TBH. So this one was simply made to see if you guys might like it, and if you do like the idea perhaps there would be someone who actually knew how to make something like this work.

What I think we'd require for something like that is a system that could handle it automatically and fluidly, and assign you to the planet when you began posting there, because monitoring and managing everyone's position and editing it all manually would be a very big (probably too big) task for the staff size we have currently.
I do like the concept though at first glance, I'll look into it on my test site, there's probably lots of stuff like it out there.

it's a fairly simple script/plugin concept. and proboards is very modifiable. But more plugins usually means more security flaws and so finding one that's air tight can be a problem.
I'd recommend looking for proboards compatible plugins that work like this, or if nothing is around, I might be able to put something together.

Was about to say what Vennel said. I can go take a look inside of the plugin marketplace to see if there is anything.
