It was a strange feeling, being dead. One would expect it to be somewhat painful, or perhaps a bit uncomfortable at least, but it was actually quite pleasant. Sage floated along as a White Puffy Ball called a Soul. Everyone had one, but not everyone was nice enough to be sent to heaven. Some unlucky few were sent to Hell, or HFIL if you prefer. Those who were sent to Hell were truly malicious souls, doing deeds of evil all their lives. Sage felt humbled to be judged as a good enough person to be sent to heaven. The sad truth was, his death was truly his own fault.
You see, when Sage was a young boy, he was considered his Town's bully. He was the biggest kid and the strongest. Being so strong, he was easily able to intimidate the other children into doing what he wanted just by looking at them. It was a time that, looking back on, Sage was not proud of, but there was no way to change the past. His bully-like ways gave him a chance encounter with a young Red-Haired boy known as Donatsu. Donatsu was no stranger to violence, he himself being a rough loner after his mother died. Sage saw Donatsu as a punk, and took every chance he could to beat him down.
Donatsu was not one to falter however, after every beating the Fire-Haired (and Fire-spirited) boy would stand back up and continue to defy Sage. It took Sage many, many years to realize that being so vile towards others was wrong, the only problem, was that he realized it much too late. After reaching the age of 18, Sage applied for a Bodyguard position, working directly for the Village Leader. He shadowed the leader intently, watching how he led his people and how fairly he treated people. It was a good experience for the Dark-skinned, Blue-haired Bully, and it changed him for the better.
Sadly, his misdeeds as a child would follow him forever. A few years later, Sage took the leader's position due to his untimely death at the hands of a gang of thugs. He did his best to lead the village properly, and for a while he did the job quite well. The village was, for lack of a better term, a Well-Oiled Machine. Everyone had their part to play in keeping the village in-tact, and they did so without complaints. Hunters would go out into the desert and look for beasts to kill, Scouts would journey to the far north in search of other villages like their own to establish trade-routes between the two villages. There were many other jobs, but most of it didn't matter, as Donatsu was still bitter about the past.
Donatsu never let go of the hatred he felt for Sage. The Red-headed boy had left the village long ago to find his own way, but he returned many times with gangs to antagonize the Village he hated so much. Luckily Sage was always there to stop him from causing harm. It would be a long few months before finally, during an all-out assault on the village, Sage defeated and captured Donatsu.
His second mistake was letting him live in prison instead of executing him. Donatsu was a crafty man, and after only a few weeks, he escaped captivity and returned to the village. Donatsu killed everyone, including Sage. Luckily for him however, Sage was found by a group known as the Blue Banner Army, and he was returned to life as an Cyborg. It was strange, but for the next month he spent every waking moment trying to track down Donatsu. He had been given a second chance, and he wasn't going to waste it.
After about a month or so, he finally tracked down Donatsu in the Fortuneteller's desert, where they were both born. They engaged in combat, but in the end, Sage's superior robotics won him the battle. He was beaten and battered, but he had slain his self-created Demon.
His third mistake was waiting so long to kill Donatsu. While he was celebrating his victory over his long-time rival, he was attacked by one of Donatsu's allies. A strange pink man who was a very close friend to the red-haired warrior. He ripped off Sage's arms, and waited a long time until a fellow human arrived on the scene. This Green-Haired boy was another one of Donatsu's friends, but he seemed more stricken with grief than he was angry. After a brief encounter, Sage was absorbed by the pink creature and everything went black.
It was then that Sage arrived here, in the line between heaven and hell. As mentioned before he was allowed to enter heaven, and now he was here, floating amongst the many other souls who were graced with the honor of residing here.
Sage continued reminiscing on his past for a few more moments, until suddenly he heard a fake cough from behind him. His ethereal body turned to see another White Ball behind him. It spoke in a feminine voice as it addressed Sage "Hi there, My names Toga! Sorry for bumping into you." Sage tried smiling, but remembered he was a ball of fluffy white stuff, so he just returned the greeting "No need to be sorry, I didn't even notice anything. My name is Sage, It's a pleasure to meet a friendly...Soul?" He wasn't exactly sure what to call what they were, but that was the best he could come up with.
Tago giggled as she tried thinking of a better name "I guess there wouldn't be much else you could call us. Puff-Balls Maybe?" Sage floated up and down, signaling that he had nodded. He looked at her and asked her a question curiously "I'm not sure if you'd be okay with answering this, but...how did you end up here?" Tago giggled again. If she could blush she would have, but she was made of fluff, so she could not "Well, It's a bit embarrassing, but I died from choking on a piece of fish!" She giggled again as she finished explaining.
She inched a bit closer as she questioned him "So, I told you my story, why don't you tell me yours?" Sage was silent for a brief moment. He wasn't sure if he wanted to let her know exactly what he'd done, but he decided he'd do so anyways. "I fought an old Rival of mine, and after a long and exhausting battle, we killed each other." Tago gasped as she giggled once more, it seemed she really like to giggle. "Sounds Exciting! I have an Idea, how about me and you hang out and explore Heaven together! It'd be more fun than riding solo, right?"
Sage agreed, It would be better to have a travelling companion. "Not like we have anything better to do, I guess I'll follow you" He moved towards her as they began floating through this land called Heaven, together.
