He had been in the East for a couple of days now, during which he had been investigating the area for any signs of abnormal activity. News reports popped up all the time, most of which talked about strange occurrences coupled with violent shockwaves, otherworldly energies and loud explosions. Those three descriptors alone pointed towards the use of ki. With a sigh, Beryl pulled out his PDA and turned on its scanning function. The application ran, one designed to detect trace amounts of ki within the air and atmosphere. A few moments passed before the initial readings came in and there were … surprising. “… There’s this much ki within the atmosphere? That must be a new record,” he mumbled, eyebrows arching. His head lifted up, eyes sweeping the field he was in. He was on the outskirts of Satan City a few miles away. While he didn’t have the ability to sense specific ki signatures yet, the PDA in his hand at least gave him some general idea of how saturated an area was with ki. “I don’t see anyone nearby though.” That was his first assumption; the saturation had to come from a source and the most likely source was from another person. Still, there was no one around, no one that Beryl could see. “I can’t help but feel I’m getting nowhere really fast.” With a grumble, he stuffed his PDA in his pocket. This wasn’t getting him anywhere. Kaula

[Heavy Weights are on] [Power level: 31,370] It wasn't too far from him, as the being had traveled down the road.. Till there was the sound of a snapping and a tree falling in the distance followed by a girl screaming, "YEAH! Fuck you, tree!" Well.. That certainly was odd. Not too far off the road, there seemed to be a young Saiyan woman who, from the looks of it, had just finished slamming her fists into a tree hard enough until she literally forced it to fall.
"Stupid tree.." the girl mumbled as she stared at it, "Bein' all.. .... Standin' all..." she paused, forgetting why she had been mad at the plant in the first place. She started to look around. "... Where am I..?" she mumbled to herself. It was true, she was a bit daft.. She had no clue where she was right now. "Let's.. See.. I think.. I was.. And.." she mumbled a little bit before sighing. Her hand reached up to push her sunglasses up on her nose slowly, "I think.. I was going to go shopping.."
"... Oh yeah. I was going to buy things to make cookies.." she said as she thought, "... But why.." The Saiyan paused, looking around. Sure, she found out why she was here.. But she still didn't know where here was.. She was getting somewhere, apparently, but she had no clue as to where she even was at this point! She eventually threw her hands up slowly, "This is getting annoying!" she shouted out again.

The thunderous sound of a tree crashing to the ground immediately grabbed Beryl’s attention. His head shot up and turned on a swivel. “… ?!” Not too far down the road, a teenage girl stood in front of a splintered stump. It didn’t take long for Beryl to put two and two together; she was the one who demolished the tree. There was no evidence of a hatchet or weapon on her person, leading Beryl to assume that she had accomplished the feat of incredible strength with nothing but her bare hands. A dark-skinned hand rose towards the goggles worn around his neck. He gave them a slight tug, dark-brown eyes fixated on the female hybrid. From her random shouting and violent outbursts, she didn’t seem to be the most stable of people. For a moment, Beryl decided to just avoid her outright; he wasn’t in the mood for unnecessary trouble. But his curiosity ultimately got the better of him. He approached the dark-haired lady, careful to not take them by sudden surprise. “Is everything okay?” Beryl asked, concerned. He then glanced over at the smoking tree stump behind Kaula, lips thinning. “Because it seems like something’s bothering you.” Why else would anyone wreck a tree out of nowhere? Boredom was one answer but it wasn’t the explanation Beryl was expecting. “I will say though that you have impressive strength.” A compliment, a genuine one. “It’s not every day you meet someone who can down a tree with a single punch, especially someone on Earth.” He said that on purpose; it was an attempt to get more insight on whom the stranger really was. She looked human enough but there were plenty of alien species who had humanoid appearances, some of which were difficult to tell apart from a human save for a few subtle differences. Kaula

The Mocha-skinned Saiyan just continued to stare at the felled tree for a few moments. This reminded her of something a human said before about a tree falling in a forest and no one is around, it wouldn't make a sound. Of course it makes a sound! She just heard it make a sound because she was here! Wait.. She paused as she got confused. You see, this is why she punches people.. And trees.
Her ears twitched when she heard a voice. She turned her head to stare at the approaching man. He was asking about the tree, quick, think of a witty response, "Yeah." she said. She wanted to say 'your face' in response to the bothering.. ... But she had to behaaave. How lame. "Nothin's bothering me.. And it was super easy to knock down." she stated as she stuck her hands on her hips, "Like.. Easy. Not even the biggest thing I broke. I'm really strong." she'd boast as her monkey tail flicked to the side.
If he knew anything about Saiyans, he'd be able to immediately notice her for one by said monkey tail and her thick, un-tameable mane of black hair. She continued to stare at the man who approached her, though. She was curious, why was he out here..? Her eyes narrowed slightly, "So.. Why are you out here..?"

As Beryl approached, he made certain to appear as non-threatening as possible. His hands were within his hoodie’s pocket, his eyes were half lidded and relaxed and his tone was both calm and mellow. Kaula answered him at first with a simple “Yes”, a nonchalant one at that. However, before Beryl could speak, she continued to talk, going on to explain how busting up a tree wasn’t even close to the feats of strength she had accomplished in the past. She claimed that she was “really strong” and Beryl believed it; not everyone could down a tree with a single punch. He couldn’t sense ki or roughly gauge power levels (something that he wanted to change as soon as possible) so in all, he could only take Kaula’s word for it.
“I’m glad you’re alright,” he began, nodding. It was then that he noticed the brown tail flick from behind the girl’s back. For a second, he focused in it and the realization hit him. “She’s a Saiyan.” He was only half right about that. Saiyans were an interesting but volatile people, a race capable of obtaining enormous amounts of strength but also one able to cause all sorts of destruction and trouble. To say that Beryl was racist against them would be an absurd claim however he’d be lying if he said that he didn’t exercise caution around them. “Why am I out here?” he repeated, not expecting the question. A hand reached up to lightly tug at the goggles wrapped around his neck. “Mm. Well, I originally intended to train out here; the city can only offer you so much when it comes to training,” Beryl started. “But I haven’t found much yet. I wanted a training partner; training alone can get a bit … boring at times.”
“I was only worried because you did knock that tree down. Usually, around these parts, that doesn’t happen unless a dinosaur’s after somebody or something like that.” Dark-brown eyes hovered over the splintered stump behind Kaula. “Then again, if you can do that to a tree, I’d be more worried about the dinosaur than you if one decided that you’re on the menu.” The thought brought a small, mellow grin to the dark-skinned human's face. His left hand reached up towards his head to adjust his beanie. "Either way, if you have things to do, I won't hold you any longer."

The Mocha-skinned Saiyan continued to stare at the other person. Was this a staring contest now? She moved to stuff her hands into her vest's pockets to semi-imitate his body posture. Why was he glad she was alright? Did she know him..? Or had he heard of her? Her eyes narrowed beneath her sunglasses, her tail giving a quick flick to the side. He was right to be careful around her kind. They had very strong and uncontrolled.. Emotions. Usually ended with people getting hurt, too.
"I can see why you need training." she muttered as she gave him a once-over. "You look like a little twig.. Probably would break from a single punch." she'd say with a chuckle. She continued to stare at him for a few moments, "You can probably find some type of.. Human training partner elsewhere." she said as she waved a hand. "I usually find your kind too weak to really get anything beneficial out of training with them. Besides. You aren't like Saiyans. When you get beaten up, you don't get stronger." seems she had a lot to say about humans and her opinions of them.
When there was talks about dinosaurs she paused a few moments, thinking. She hadn't really eaten dinosaur in a while, she wondered if the ones here tasted different from the other ones. Maybe like.. Super tasty or something. Or more of a natural smokey flavor? The Saiyan went to shrug slowly, waving a hand dismissively. Right. She should probably make a cake. Or was it cookies. Damn it! This human distracted her.. She shrugged and started to walk off, she'd probably simply leave if the human didn't do anything, or say anything, interesting enough to keep her here.

Granted, his physique wasn’t too impressive; with all of the clothing he wore, he looked average at best though most considered him to be too skinny and a little bit scrawny. His height wasn’t anything to brag about either, standing between five feet seven inches and five feet eight inches tall. The way he carried himself? He seemed too lax and friendly to be a warrior or any kind of competent fighter. To top it all off, he was human, widely regarded to be one of the weakest races in the known universe, if not the weakest.
With all these factors in place, Kaula actually had quite a reason to believe that Beryl was weak and ultimately a waste of her time. However, the other races’ arrogance blinded a wide majority of them to the latent power resting within humans. There had only been an extremely few amount of humans that managed to reach extraordinary amounts of power but legend had it that if a human become strong enough, their power would be so great to where they’d be able to defy deities with their power and overwhelm the power of any race in the galaxy. Of course, it was a legend; there was no solid evidence to back up that such a thing even existed or if it would even be possible for a human to get that strong.
However, Beryl was set on seeing if the legend was true or not. What did he have to lose?
As Kaula continued to insult him, the dark-skinned human kept quiet, the relaxed, pleasant look remaining on his face. The Saiyan turned on her heels and proceeded to leave, seemingly set on spending her precious time elsewhere. “You really don’t know much about humans, do you?” Beryl called out, raising his voice enough so that Kaula could hear him. “Then again, why would you? Saiyans have always been known for their arrogance; you wouldn’t recognize strength if it was staring right at you.” A pause. “But your people have always been powerful in physical terms; it’s why I personally seek them out for training; I know I can get something out of it.” He then shrugged his shoulders. “I won’t force you to spar with me if you don’t want to. I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time walking around punching trees. Surely, that’ll help you get stronger, right? Then again, I’m just a weak human; what do I know?”
He preemptively tensed his muscles up, waiting for a violent reaction. While his retort had the potential to rile her up, it also meant she’d stick around. In the back of his head, Beryl hoped she’d stay.

Kaula's tail twitched slightly as she heard the human. Her eyes closed beneath her sunglasses as the mocha-skinned Saiyan turned right back around to stare at him. Oh. Oh. Oh. He. Did not. Just call her out. This.. This human did not just call her out. How dare he. He had the nerve to do this, to sign his own death warrant. She slowly began to walk back, seems like he got what he wanted.. She was coming back, cracking her knuckles slowly. When she was close enough, she took her sunglasses off to show off those emerald green eyes of her's. Colored eyes, that's something Saiyans never had. "Maybe you're right. Maybe I don't know ALL about humans." she'd say, albeit sarcastically.
"But there's one thing I do know. There's not a person on this planet.-" she brought a finger up to forcibly poke the human, who was also a few inches taller than her, in the chest. "That I can't." she poked him again. "Beat the shit out of." She stated, driving that final sentence in with a poke on his forehead, if he'd let her.
"But I'll grant you your wish. Probably." she said before she suddenly went to duck down, trying to sweep at his feet with her leg in an attempt to knock him down. She was fast! And not only that, she was strong, compared to him. If he really did wish to "train" with her, or in her head, fight. Then he'd likely be in a little bit over his head.

That definitely got her attention. The tail twitch, along with the dramatic turn-around solidified that his tactic had worked and as Kaula approached him, Beryl didn’t move. The same, mellow, half-lidded look remained on his visage and it didn’t vanish even as Kaula poked him in the chest and the forehead. Of course, he blinked slightly, a bit startled that her temper had flared up all of the sudden. However, the surprise quickly subsided; he had to remind himself that she was just a Saiyan, even though those green eyes of hers seemed a bit out of place. “Admitting that you don’t know something is one of the smartest things you can do,” Beryl added quietly before falling silent once more. The hybrid claimed that she could wreck anyone on the face of Earth in a fight. If she were the only non-human around then yes; she most likely could. However, with all of the other aliens and similar freaks recently flooding to Earth, her statement was a bit bold, even not just flat-out untrue. Still, that didn’t undermine her tremendous strength; even if he couldn’t detect ki signatures (something he wanted to change as soon as possible), no Saiyan boasted about their strength without being able to back it up.
All of that aside, the end result was that she was at least agreeing to spar with him. In reality, Beryl would have her spar against him rather than deforest the entire Eastern Lands. As soon as she stopped speaking, the green-eyed Saiyan dipped down low, her speedy maneuver catching the twenty-three year old off guard. Her leg slammed into his ankles, sweeping him off of his feet entirely. Pain rattled through his body, a hot sting that elicited a pained “MMPH” from the researcher hopeful. Shifting his momentum, Beryl reoriented himself so that instead of hitting the hard, unforgiving ground on his back, he planted his palms onto the ground.
It was like he was doing some kind of off-the-wall handstand and as soon as he managed to get his balance, his left leg shot forward, aiming to kick Kaula right in the middle of the chest. Whether or not the attack connected, Beryl flipped himself upright-side up onto his feet. He closed the distance between the two of them and sent a flurry of high-speed punches towards the obviously stronger female. He aimed for the head and body mostly and while his approach might’ve seen blindly offensive, he was purposefully trying to rope into exchanging rapid blows with him, enough to where he’d be able to find an opening and exploit it. “If what you say is true, I don’t think you should lose to me then,” Beryl spoke. “Because it’d look really bad if you lose to a human.”

The girl's eyes narrowed as she slowly stood back up. She wasn't admitting she was wrong. She wasn't doing that at all. Was there a chance this human didn't know what sarcasm was? Or did she possibly get it wrong. She paused in thought.. Maybe he was being sarcastic now? No. Probably not. He pretty much challenged her, he couldn't be that smart. She went to start stuffing those cheap zeni-store sunglasses into her pocket when she felt an impact on her chest, her poor chest fruit clearly suffering from that, and since she was clearly distracted.. She had to take a step back.
"I was in the middle of thinking.." she'd say with a sigh as he stood back up. She'd go to start thinking when he approached her, however the Saiyan simply went to start blocking each of the punches, either by moving the man's arm out of the way with her wrist or by simply letting him punch her mind. Such speed! She must have so much mental discipline to be able to block all of these attacks as she stood there. What could possibly be going on in her head?
<I wonder what type of cake I'll make for Reikiko.. She seems to like those apples stuff... Is there an apple cake? What would that taste like. Probably like apples, I bet. ... Yeah. Apples.. Apples and chocolate. ... Yeah. I'll do that. Oh wait. What am I doing again?> She blinked and looked at the human, <Right. Fighting. Maybe this human could entertain me for a while.> The Saiyan suddenly brought her right hand back to deliver an open-palmed blow to the human's head in an attempt to knock him back. She'd give one of those smug little grins as she stood there. She knew she wasn't even fighting at her full strength due to her weights. She probably wouldn't have to.

His foot slammed into the hybrid’s chest, only causing her to step back and complain about having her daydreaming rudely interrupted. The comment didn’t register with Beryl at first but once he started throwing his series of punches, it became very clear that Kaula wasn’t taking him seriously. Then again, why would she? It was now obvious that she was much stronger than he was, even when she was weighed down by her training gear. Beryl thought that she’d at least have the incentive to actually try to fight back against him with her full attention. Apparently he wasn’t engaging enough; he’d have to step his game up if he wanted to get her to do more than the bare minimum against him. Beryl already knew what the most likely end result was: he’d end up losing. However, a loss wasn’t too crippling, especially if he learned new things. That was the goal: learn something new, along with increasing his physical strength. He learned one thing already though: Saiyans, along with half-Saiyans, were ridiculously strong. After his last punch, the twenty-three year old barely had any time to react before an open palm barreled towards his face. It crashed right into his forehead, sending him clean off of his feet. He remained airborne for two seconds before hitting the ground hard, going so far as to keep skidding backwards before slowing to a stop. A few moments passed and Beryl hadn’t moved from his spot. Then, his fingers twitched, followed by his arms and legs. With a grunt, he pushed himself up into a kneeling position, hand clasped right over his forehead. His vision was a bit blurry; that single hit was really something else. That blow alone would knock any ordinary human out; hell, it could probably kill if Kaula hit someone in the right spot. “… You can definitely hit; that’s for sure,” Beryl complimented, forcing himself to stand. He teetered a little as his balance was a little off. “No, you can do more than that.” He wasn’t just referring to her epic tree punching skills either. A sigh left his lips and after concentrating for a brief moment, the researcher abruptly fired off a small blast of green-colored ki towards Kaula. Flashes of bright light pulsated around it, causing it to be quite the flashy, if not distracting, display. That was partially the point of it: to distract. It was no more powerful than a standard physical strike and truthfully, if it Kaula, there was a good chance that it wouldn’t do a damn thing. However, the point of it wasn’t to deal damage; it was to hopefully mask Beryl’s true attack. With the same hand (his left hand), Beryl made a gun shape with it, his index and middle fingers extended forward. A sphere of orange ki bubbled within his fingertips before it fully manifested into a complete offensive blast. It erupted forward, fragmenting outwards into a shower of hot, ki pellets. It was like a shell fired from a shotgun however unlike projectiles fired from a shotgun (buckshot at least), the pellets didn’t lose any stopping power the further they traveled from Beryl. They aimed to pelt Kaula from head to toe. If she deflected or dodged the blasts, then environmental damage was basically a given. A slight frown came across Beryl’s lips; he was trying to keep the collateral damage to a minimum, preferably none at all. If they took much of a ruckus, they’d no doubt draw attention. The Eastern Lands were rural and weren’t as populated as say, the Southern Lands, but there were still people around, enough to notice that two freaks were blowing shit up. TECHNIQUES USED:[ Alloy Cannon ] N1 [POWER - 1537PL] Beryl forms a hand into the shape of a "gun" with his index and middle fingers extended forward and his thumb pointed upward. A orange-colored, fragmented blast of energy then erupts from his fingertips like a buckshot shell fired from a shotgun. However, unlike a shotgun, the power of the blast does not dissipate the further it travels.

It was true. She wasn't taking this seriously at all. She just didn't seem to care, her eyelids half closed. She seemed to be half asleep, too. He wasn't too engaging at all. In fact, she felt like her blow was going to knock him out so she could just leave. However, when he seemed to still keep his conciousness, she blinked once before bringing up her hands to clap lightly, "Well there you go, weakling. You surprised me by not being a complete disappointment." she said with a soft chuckle. Yeah, she was pretty cocky. "Wasn't even using my full power, you know. Sad thing is, if I did use my full power.. You'd probably end up dead.. A bit disappointing.." she continued.
However, she was so busy gloating that she didn't realize that the man sent out a Ki-blast. If it wasn't so flashy, she would have missed it. She brought a hand up to simply slap it away with a sigh, "Weak.." she growled out quietly. She slowly blinked before glancing towards the side, not aware he was readying a technique. "So you about done? I'm getting bored." she muttered before he fired off the attack! It connected, likely shooting up a bit of dirt. Kaula, for the most part, seemed to be a bit unscathed. She seemed to have some scuffs on her clothing and a bruise on her face.. Her chest plate still looked mostly cleaned, though, aside from a little bit of dirt that got on it, and that stupid footprint there.
Her eye twitched a little bit, her tail flicking to the side. She started to growl out a little bit as she glanced down. There was a rip.. On the knee.. Of her cargo pants now. That asshole ripped her pants. She began to let out a soft growl. "Oh.. OH. So that's how you want to play it!?" the Saiyan started to growl out, small orbs of green Ki starting to form in her hand. Bad news for the human. He was close. Really close. "THEN IT'S MY TURN NOW! TASTE MY BARRAGE!" the Saiyan girl shouted out as she brought her arms back, starting to fling the orbs towards him. There seemed to be roughly six in total. As each one left her hand, it would soon expand to roughly the size of a volley ball. It would hurt. A lot. But in her rage, she was still holding back. If they managed to hit him, he wouldn't die due to overkill, of course. She still had her weights on. "Are you ready to give up yet, human!?"

More insults were thrown his way, the usual bits of him being weak, unentertaining and how his disappointed life was only allowed to continue because Kaula refused to use her full power. Even so, Beryl managed to keep his cool somehow; instead choosing to focus on the fight (if you could even call it that) rather than the discouraging words hurled his way. If Beryl actually listened to everything that people have told him, he would’ve given up training and self-defense a long time ago. It was true that you could learn a lot from others and only pure, unadultered arrogance would say otherwise. However, you still had to be careful who you listened and what they said unless you liked believing false information and utter bullshit. Kaula was too busy yapping and gripping to react to the attack heading her way. The ki-blast crashed into her, dispersing a large plume of smoke upon impact. When the smoke and dust cleared, she was still relatively fine, a single bruise on her face the only indication that the human’s technique did some sort of damage. While she was still technically unscathed, Beryl was at least glad that he had the ability to at least scratch her. If he wasn’t able to do that, then he would’ve seriously reconsidered continuing this “spar”. At that point, it would’ve just turned into both a verbal and physical beatdown, one that Beryl most likely would not have lived through and if he did, he probably wouldn’t have been able to move for several weeks.
His hand lowered once his Alloy Cannon found its mark. Dark-brown eyes hovered over the hybrid, searching for any sort of a reaction, an incoming attack. Then, Kaula started to lose her shit. The initial outburst caused Beryl to lift his eyebrows in a mix of surprise and confusion. What was she getting so worked about? That blast couldn’t have hurt much, if at all. It was then that Beryl discovered that Kaula was pissed because her beautiful, stylish cargo pants had been ripped. Absolutely dumbfounded by the realization, the twenty-three year old stared blankly at the half-Saiyan, nonplussed. Since when did Saiyans care about fashion? Judging by how worked up Kaula was getting about her cargo pants, apparently, they did and here Beryl thought that all they remotely cared about was fighting, blowing shit up and gaining strength. “… It looks like she’s starting to try now.” Beryl reflexively shifted into his fighting stance once he saw the green-colored orbs of ki growing in the girl’s hands. His eyes darted between each of the individual creations. “There’s six of them.” Plus, they each looked powerful enough on their own, even if Kaula hadn’t charged them up with the full extent of her power. With one final scream, the Saiyan launched her brilliant technique at the dark-skinned human, orbs raining down towards him like some kind of hailstorm on crack.
Each orb was roughly the size of a volleyball, making each one harder to avoid due to both their size, speed and the sheer volume of orbs sent his way. The first three orbs were able to be evaded though with plenty of effort on Beryl’s part. He took a large back-step for the first one, the charged sphere of ki colliding with the ground with a grandiose bang. Dirt shot up into the air like a geyser and the remaining five orbs emerged from the dusty veil, still trained on their target. The next two orbs were able to be dodged as well with quick dashes to the left and right. However, the next two orbs that arrived weren’t able to be evaded. One collided into his right shoulder while the other hit him on his left side. The pain was immediate and near-crippling and in truth, Beryl wasn’t too sure what was kept him going. It felt like he had been hit by a red-hot, metal baseball bat and as the sixth and final orb came down at him, he forced himself to a stand.
He clasped his hands together, forming a double-axe handle and with a fierce, horizontal swing, he batted the last “furioso” orb away, sending it straight back towards its creator, Kaula. The air was still heavy with dust and it would help with masking the orb’s path, hopefully making it harder for the hybrid to react it. Despite the ache throbbing through his body, Beryl then launched forward, his feet completely leaving the ground as he zipped through the air. Using the dust as a cover, he aimed to try and catch Kaula off-guard, regardless of whether or not she got hit by the green ki orb or not. His left fist reeled back, he aimed to sock her right in the jaw with the hardest punch he could muster. He’d continue with throwing more high-speed punches at her, even if she dodged or defended against his punch before. He wanted to keep the pressure up; it’d be the only way he’d land more hits on her as insignificant they were.
“I’m not giving up just yet.”

Kaula, when she finished her attack, brought a hand up to to dust off her chestplate some. She was more upset about getting this thing dirtied for no reason. It was a fancy piece of armor and it was special to her. Oh. And her pants. They got ripped! Did this human know how hard it was to find DECENT pants here? Like.. They fit her so well and they were SO comfortable! And now they were ripped! The knee was ripped! Even if she sewed it back together, it would NEVER be the same. Some people just didn't understand the importance of fashion. For shame, for shame.
And yet, even after her attack was launched.. The dark-skinned human didn't beg for mercy. He was an odd one, that's for sure. Still, she stared at the dust cloud once it kicked up, assuming that the man would get hit. But, then again.. He had shown that he wasn't ready to give up earlier. She'd almost be disappointed if he gave up now. He was proving to be a little bit more then just a simple human.. Even if he was as weak as one.
She watched the boy rise out of the dust, keeping her focus on him. It almost caught her off guard. The orb, that is, but she raised a hand up to simply bitch slap it from there and to the ground, not taking her eyes off of him. "Surprised you're able to move." she said as she went to roll her neck around slightly, starting to stretch a bit before he started to charge right at her, getting ready to throw more punches. He was able to get a single one in on her, slamming right into her jaw and causing her head to turn.
The Saiyan simply had stood there for a few moments, chuckling some. "Oh. You're going to regret that." she said before rearing her head back, aiming to throw a vicious headbutt before he started to throw those bunches of punches again. She brought her hands up to simply block. She was waiting, letting him throw rapid punches for now until she saw an opening. There it was! she thought as he went to yell out before she brought a fist back. Ki seemed to surround her fist, forming a blade of energy, it seemed, around her hand. She was thinking of going for the kill, but she restrained herself as she went to thrust the blade forward. She managed to veer it's course off to the right some so if it DID come in contact with him, he wouldn't become a shish-kahbob. He'd simply only be grazed on his left side.

From a totally “logical” standpoint, Beryl should’ve begged for mercy a long time ago. It was damn obvious that he was way out of his league and that the hybrid was practically toying with him at this point. Being a researcher, Beryl knew plenty about logic and rational thinking. So, why was he doing all of this? It was simple: there was only so much that logic and rational thinking could do and provide. While it kept him out of trouble and allowed him to make informed decisions, it didn’t do much at improving his strength, the main thing he wanted to change for the better in the first place. Training by himself was only going to get him so far; he had to put what he learned into actual practice. Still, he promised himself that he would simply stick to training alone for a little while or at least find people who were actually around his level of strength. As people got stronger, they seemed to get more and more mentally unstable (from what Beryl had seen). If he kept challenging people who were leagues upon leagues more powerful than he was, then he was going to end up dead eventually; that much was certain.
Did Beryl mention that he wasn’t planning on visiting Other World for a very, VERY long time?
The deflected orb didn’t do much to distract Kaula. If anything, she bitch slapped the thing like it was some kind of unruly, dirty-mouthed whore. The ki orb went flying straight towards the ground, throwing up a geyser of dust as it hit the dirt and dissipated. Even with that defense, her eyes hadn’t left Beryl and as he emerged from the curtain of dust in front of her, she was ready for him. Much to his surprise, one of Beryl’s punches actually managed to hit. His left fist drilled into the Saiyan’s jaw, causing her head to cock back in recoil. The blow didn’t seem to faze her much, especially since she started laughing afterwards. With his fist still resting against her cheek, the twenty-three year old blinked, confused. The statement was foreboding enough and he was just about to hurry up and bring up his guard in anticipation of a counter attack. However, it was too late. Before he knew it, Kaula dipped forward and slammed her forehead into his. The blow was strong enough to where it nearly knocked Beryl off of his feet and it took every ounce of his strength to avoid doing so. Momentarily stunned, it wasn’t long before he snapped out of his stupor and he continued with his original plan: to throw a whole bunch of punches in Kaula’s direction. Well, it was a little bit more tactical than that; he wasn’t throwing them blindly and he actually aimed for weak spots or spots that he perceived as vulnerable.
All of that was cut out very quickly though. Kaula was analyzing him this entire time, just waiting for the perfect moment to strike and further assert that he was a big, stupid idiot for even challenging her to a duel in the first place. Ki vibrated around her hand, forming into a sharp, gnarly blade. It oscillated at very high speeds, further improving its cutting potential and making it that much more deadly. The look on Beryl’s face immediately changed into one of pure, unrestrained horror. “She’s trying to kill me!” If that blade got one good hit on him, then it was game over; no amount of defense Beryl had could block that thing. The only option he had was to dodge it. If he had known that Kaula wasn’t trying to kill him, it would’ve made the situation a little better but still alarming and dangerous nonetheless. With all of his might, the dark-skinned human threw himself to the right, wincing as the blade sliced into his left side. He hit the ground and dipped into a combat roll before springing up onto his feet. Immediately, his right hand clasped his injured side. With fear, he looked down to assess the injury. He was bleeding and his hoodie and shirt were both ripped but not enough to where they were completely ruined. Blood dripped from the shallow but still painful cut and as Beryl pressed his right hand against it to alleviate the bleeding, his hand became stained red. He gulped; that was way too close for comfort and it was what led him to say what he said next. “… I give up.” Using his free left hand, he held it up in a surrendering gesture, still wincing from the other injuries he had sustained during this spar.
“That technique you just used …. I haven’t seen anything like it. If I had gotten directly hit by that … well, I’m sure you know what would’ve happen.” He would’ve gotten stuck like a damn pig. Seeing that technique, the molding of ki into a vibrating blade, reminded him that he needed to expand his technique repertoire. While he loved his Alloy Cannon and Capsule Breaker to death, two techniques could only get him so far; he needed more so that he could adapt to the myriad of combat situations he would inevitably be in. Just learning new techniques wasn’t enough either; he needed to go back and further improve the ones he already knew, whether it was learning how to channel more power into them or adding a new mechanic to them. While they were arguably the weakest race in the galaxy, humans were known for their adaptability. They seemed to have a certain penchant for learning new things and in ki terms, they were the most “naturally” gifted when it came to manipulating ki even though a wide majority of humans didn’t pursue its usage.
“… Thanks for not killing me,” he added, still nursing his wounds. A relieved sigh left his lips and he closed his dark-brown eyes. “… I know you could’ve killed me if you wanted to; that much is obvious.” That much was evident by the attack from earlier and Kaula’s general attitude. “Heh. You’re too good, too good for me right now. I don’t think I’ll be much of anything with the shape I’m in right now.” A pause. “But thank you for putting up with me even if you probably didn’t get much out of any of this.” Another pause. “It beats punching trees all day though, right?”
