In order to have a new character approved, you must prove you have both the time and the muse to sustain them, by creating a 5,000(?) word RP. (also to future proof this - Each new character will increase this requirement). Plan is anyone who makes more than three characters will be subject to this requirement to help them figure out if they really want to RP as said character or not instead of finding out afterward.
It is however not my call to make, and imposing such a 'rule' without having followed the proper process is an abuse of my position and the trust placed in me. I therefore apologise, and accept repercussions as the community deems fit. To do this properly now, I am raising this as a discussion thread:
The proposal would be that after three characters, every subsequent character would have a 5000 word 'beginners thread' as a requirement. I also have the notion of increasing this requirement each time, ((my very rough idea being exponential - 5000 -> 5500(+500) -> 6500(+1000) -> 8000(+1500) -> 10,000(+2000), but to be honest I haven't worked out if that would be balanced, or if it would be too steep. It is after all meant specifically to *help* the person, not to be some sort of punishment))
To quote a pm I just sent explain a little more about this:
The intention of the requirement is specifically to prove that you *can* churn out such a thread , that you are invested enough in the character and have more than enough to write about as them that you can carry them forward - by having made more than three characters (in your case, [insert respect for player's privacy here]) it indicates there is a possible issue with commitment or muse, this test is to prove that's not the case for this new character and/or help you figure out ahead of time instead of a few days-weeks of procrastination down the track which character you actually want to be.
When I made my first character on Resurrection I created a 5000 word beginners post(just BP alone). I know that's not the norm, but it was more than possible, especially if you are genuine in your interest of the character and their intended storyline/history.
Here with Bao when I total my history and beginners it was 2000 words. This 5000 word test stemmed from the idea that it's asking for a beginners(2000), plus two decent solo threads(1500), in advance as proof to both staff and yourself that this is indeed 'the one'. Also keep in mind you can split it into sections and aren't limited to just one 'event', let your creativity run free.
Basically, the goal for people in your shoes is to get them out of the habit of making characters as pictures and into the habit of making characters as stories. A character isn't a single snapshot, they are a sustained commitment to a story arc. Think of it from others peoples perspective... would you want to RP with someone whose character is probably going to evaporate next week? That's robbed you of any sort of relationship or character development prospects, meaning at best you can get a shallow duel or pointless banter, you could achieve the exact same thing though an npc. You are(can be) so much more than a mere npc
Interacting with other people can bring you muse... but if you can't write solo posts then that just demonstrates you don't actually have a story or a character arc, or you don't have enough interest in the story to be able to carry it forward. You lack goals or direction and relaying on others to provide that is a mistake, it's not other players job to 'make' your character for you, which is something some RPers don't quite realise but is absolutely critical. Others can enhance your story, but you as a character should be fully capable of standing on your own two feet(so to speak).

There is an important thing you have brought to my attention which I must apologise profusely for. I have broken the laws of this place, I have attempted to impose a new rule without the consent of the real authority here (the community), which is not my place to do and is in breach of the trust given to me as an administrator. The answer to your question will therefore lie in the discussion thread I am about to make, alongside a decision on any repercussions I should face as a reprimand.

The final (side) element of comment here is the question which the above pm was responding to, which was whether it had to be solo or if it could be done with others. I'm personally more inclined towards requiring it be solo, since the focus is on you familiarising yourself with your own character and learning if you have the drive to be that character, something which RPing with others might distract from. However, arguments can be made for both options, so it's another element that is open for comment.
