”Now where were we?” Meridia asked as she fiddled with the control console. The only object in the dojo beyond its users, the keypad and screen stood out against the otherwise barren walls of the structure. With the ability to simulate environments and enemies, the machine was all anyone using the facility would ever need.
At the moment the demon was in full control of the day’s activities as a patient Shemha stood towards the center of the tiled floor. This session was to be the continuation of one interrupted weeks ago, a special scenario that Meridia designed to test the new Commander. Not a prideful woman, the Majin was perfectly fine with her subordinate running the show for now. After all, it was designed to benefit her in the long run so what was the harm beyond giving the demon some small semblance of power.
Playfully, she abused it right from the start. ”Here we go, this will be a good starting point.” She commented as she cranked the setting to one hundred and thirty times normal gravity, a level Shemha wasn’t comfortable with just yet. The audible groan from the center of the dojo made that quite clear as the Commander was forced to a knee. Each new tier of gravity training stressed her body more heavily, these higher steps far more taxing than those before them.
With an inhale Shemha rose to her feet as she forced her body to weather the enhanced G-forces. Around her the plain interior of the dojo faded away and the strange terrain of HFIL took its place. She recalled the strangely colored sky and jagged trees from the first time the demon was given control over her training and she could only guess at what the girl had in store for her this time.
”Back here again are we?” Shemha asked through the telepathic link the two shared. The initial response was a giggle, Meridia clearly a fan of a place she knew well. A place Shemha hoped to never see beyond simulations.
”So you remember then? Good, I wouldn’t want you to be distracted taking in the sights.” From her now hidden vantage point, Meridia eyed her Majin companion with a smile. The last time she ran this she used the cover of the forest to get a jump on the female. This time, she chose to materialize an opponent right in front of her…although it wasn’t fully visible until after it connected with its first strike.
”Distracted? I hardly…oomph” Shemha’s words cut of as a fist socked her right across the jaw. Unprepared for the sudden strike she was taken right off her feet. She sailed through several trees, each of which did little to slow her, before she broke free of the forest. Unfortunate a short distance away from the woods edge a pool of red water awaited her and with a splash, she sunk below its surface.
A little angered by the cheap shot she collected herself with a shake of her head. Bubbles rolled from her lips as she growled under water before she burst free of the liquid. Up into the air she went, tattered tunic drenched along with the rest of her as she scanned for her assailant. There, near the lake's shore the creature stood.
Unlike the Ogre’s she fought last time, this one was equal to her in size, but its signature closely matched her own. Muscled arms folded across its chest, the creature seemed less than concerned that its target had resurfaced. Shemha planned to make it suffer for underestimating her.
The Majin shot towards it, a cloud of mist left in the air as the water that dotted her figure was left behind. Long tendril atop her head snapping back and forth like a tail she was on the ogre in an instant, right fist empowered with Ki and aimed for the center of its unfortunate face. Confident in her own strength, Shemha was left wide eyes when her fist went right through the creature’s skull…or at least the image of it.
With a grunt she took a foot to the side, knocked from the air as the monster’s afterimage technique came full circle. Slammed to the dirt she rolled half a dozen times before her hands pressed off and launched her upright. Already the ogre was on her, fists and legs a near blur as it attempted to follow up on its trickery thus far. As she began to block, Shemha boiled with frustration for being fooled so easily, angry for that cheap shot that started this off. Meridia was going to get a talking to when this was over and if…
Shemha’s train of thought paused as she realized how carried away she was getting. She saw what the demon’s goal was, get her irritated and capitalize on the mistakes. Despite her mischievous nature and often flighty personality, Meridia wasn’t the worst of teachers. What surprised Shemha more though was that she was apparently in need of the lesson?
Gradually her blocks became more controlled and the ogre’s strikes slowed. Speed wise they remained the same, but her senses focused to better read them and with each passing second she began to gain the upper hand.
When the next punch came in, she twisted at the waist, malleable body allowing the unnatural movement. Upper half rotated one hundred and eighty degrees, she caught the creature's arm with both of hers. His momentum suddenly halted, his second of hesitation was all the Majin needed. The long tendril atop her head snapped up as the end of it formed into a fine point, a fine point that buried itself in the side of the ogre’s skull. A single shudder was the extent of its reaction before it slumped and began to fade.
Shemha let out a snort as she stepped back and looked about as if in search of her companion.
”Meridia…what was that about?” Shemha questioned with a realization of her emotional fluctuation just now. It was unlike her…and uncomfortable to say the least. The question was, how had Meridia foreseen it?
Again a light chuckle was the girl’s initial response before she provided something more concrete.
”I will explain…but first, shall we move on to the final part? That was just a minor warm up obviously.” Meridia added with an unseen smile. Shemha was her friend and although this was designed to help her grown stronger, she also planned to point out a recent flaw in the Majin.
”What do you mean final part?”
No sooner had she finished the question did Shemha feel the gravity suddenly increase, a surge that dropped her to her knees.
