Cipher fired off a series of ki blasts, rapid fire, blasting the virtual fighters around him into pixels. A couple tried to loop around and take the android from behind, but Cipher quickly spun around, delivering a spinning kick that sent them sprawling. More and more of the virtual fighters swarmed towards the android, but he was barely breaking a sweat as he fought them off.
To be honest, it was kind of, well, boring.
Cipher let out a sigh and stopped. "Computer, cancel program."
The fighters froze and then faded away as the gravity chamber reverted back to normal. The gravity reduced itself to regular levels. The session hadn't gone on long enough for Cipher to adjust to the new level. But something about this training session wasn't ringing with him.
The door slid open, and Charlene and Porsalynne peaked in. "Is everything ok?" Porsalynne asked, a little bit of concern on her face. Cipher let out a small, annoyed sigh. "I don't know. It's just, I can normally get into these training sessions just fine. But this...there's just something missing from it." Porsalynne tilted her head, "Maybe another scenario will help?" Cipher shook his head in response. "No, it's something about training in this thing in general. There's just something lacking to it."
Charlene had been quiet this whole time before she piped up. "I think I know what it is. You just had a real fight recently. Maybe this just doesn't compare to it. Fighting holographic projections is one thing, but maybe you actually need to fight a real opponent. Someone on your level." Cipher looked over at his daughter as if a light had gone on in his head. "That's it! I pushed myself to the breaking point and beyond during my fight with Vennel. The gravity chamber can't replicate that sort of thing." Porsalynne smiled, glad they had found a solution to her husband's problem. "Well, I'm sure there's plenty of people to train with around here."
Cipher smiled before the expression faded, another thought coming to him. "Indeed, but with whom? Anyone around my level has been busy as of late, and those that are available to train are way below my level." Indeed, it was easy enough to say he needed to train with someone. But finding someone to train with was another matter entirely.
Thankfully, Charlene had the answer. "Why not Vegeta? There are plenty of strong people there. And with that big tournament coming up, I'm sure there'll be plenty of people eager to train." Cipher's face lit up. That was it! Vegeta was full of fighting fanatics who would drop everything at the chance to train, and he knew there were powerful people there. And with Earth and Vegeta currently in a truce, nobody would object to him leaving. The android walked over to his daughter, scooping her up and hugging. "Charlene your brilliant little nutball! I'm proud to have you as my daughter!" Charlene laughed and hugged him before before Cipher set her down on the ground. "I'll let the others know of my departure right away."
After everything had been settled, Cipher sat back in the pilot's seat of the Pale Rider. Porsalynne and Charlene were to remain on Earth this time, what with Charlene now studying under Dr. Slouch. Besides, this was something for Cipher to do. His battle with Vennel had lit a fire in him that right now, only the fighters of Vegeta could satisfy. Pressing the controls, the ship's engines hummed to life as the hanger doors opened. He glanced out the window to see Porsalynne and Charlene standing by, waving him goodbye. Cipher smiled and returned the wave, before turning his attention to the stars.
With a roar, the ship too off from the hanger, shooting upwards into the sky, out amongst the stars on his trip to Vegeta.
