Heyo, this is a little something bugging me from seeing a recent thread going down that made me think back to the show of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, and remembering the different powers and how Ki was used, as well as Ki strikes, and it made me slightly odd that the KO system works the way it does. I will go into more detail in a moment, but I would like to discuss some other topics close to it that effect it in total.
We all know the PL system isn't perfectly aligned with DBZ, manga or anime, since the manga and anime PL is basically thrown out the window (yes I know it is still there, but it rarely bothers to exist when they get strange and massive boosts that can destroy the system). But the site does follow a just Ki system that even has environmental effective requirements (I.e Requiring SSJ Tier PL and 100k). I was thinking through how much power is actually output, and how there isn't a bleed-through effect on attacks directed, when they are absurdly stronger compared to the opponent. Power is a massive thing in fighting, as skill is rarely effective enough to fully fight your way through the ranks that are extremely higher. Having a strategy isn't always going to work if the opponent is over 120% your power level, and so power is a big deal to take into consideration. Now, onto the example and my idea.
In threads, multiple to be honest, there has/has likely been moments where a person of higher power (sometimes absurdly so) attacking with an extremely massive power against someone that would normally have killed them, if not vaporized them. A few examples being the recent thread Painting the town RED, and even the thread where the Namekians Harp and Tabu were both hit with attacks equal to 1,350,000 PL while both below 2,000 PL, attacks went through with intent to KO. In some moments, it would make sense that some attacks can be controlled more then others, and directing an attack towards certain parts of the body to not kill is understandable, but it makes no sense how attacks over 100% of someone's PL are able to only knock them out, especially when they are extremely low tiered and not matching anywhere in PL. The Painting the town RED thread is different then the Harp and Tabu moment, but still fits under this category. It doesn't make sense that an attack that is exceptionally over someone's PL and explodes would only KO them, as IC that seems quite the deadly strike. There is Bleed-through on attacks hitting each other, and I only thought that an OOC wish to not die shouldn't dictate if someone's character got into a fight they couldn't handle and would die from a strike. Characters normally wouldn't have perfect control of their Ki to be able to make hits that would normally be near instant death, if not guaranteed death, just hit enough to knock them out, and then stop. While I like the idea of KOing people with attacks, it only really makes sense against people within the 80% range of the attack/person, or who are in equal footing.
Here is my idea, and it is unintentional bleed-through damage. While someone may attack someone with the intent to only KO them, if they are over 120% (or possibly more) they will unintentionally kill the target due to the sheer power of the strike/attack. The character IC thinks they are only taking them hostage, or KOing them due to them starting a fight, but in a DE, they accidentally murder someone due to overpowering them with Ki/power.
I know a lot of people might not like it, but I add the Poll so it is visible the choices people would like as to adding this or not. If the poll isn't needed, go ahead and tell me and I'll remove it (if it is possible I have never used the Poll option before xD).
Please give your opinions here, and I'll discuss them with ya. Thanks!
