TOMA THE HEROToma raised an eyebrow when Rabiko shifted her arms across her chest, turning away from him. His telepathy had bothered her, not that he could blame her. Such a foreign ability probably scared the young girl, though he felt he had throughly made his point about the many uses of Ki.
"Ah ha, sorry about that..." He said nevously, apologizing for his transgression. He didn't need Ki Sense to feel the uncomfortableness of her mental state right now. Perhaps he'd try again when she was more open to the idea of telepathic communication. "I'd suggest getting used to it. I feel you should know, I cannot read your thoughts, I can only transmit to you." He said, nodding. "If that makes you feel any better."
"But, regardless." He continued, raising his hand once more. The Ki ball faded, and was replaced by a green, crackling electricity. "This technique is called 'Thunder Shock Surprise'. A non-lethal ability, designed to stun your opponent. It is also created by utilizing Ki and transforming it into electricity." He went on, demonstrating another, more advanced use of Ki.
"These abilities are difficult to master..." The crackling faded from his arm, and he looked to her again. "But when you master them, you'll be a far more capable fighter than you are now. Simply knowing how to punch or kick something does not make one a great warrior. And, you've got a head start. You're stronger than I was when I first landed here." He said, nodding.
Hard to believe that was only a couple of years ago. And she'd probably get stronger than him before long if he didn't keep up his training.

Toma
She flashed him a smile when he apologized for “invading” her privacy, even though he went on shortly thereafter to explain that it wasn’t as much of a breach as she had first presumed. Still, she was not entirely comfortable with the idea of someone talking in her head-- it felt unnatural. To Rabiko’s great disappointment, Toma made it sound as though telepathy was a common occurrence on Earth. She knew that she would eventually acclimate to it… but it would still likely be uncomfortable for some time to come. For what it was worth, it did make her feel just a bit better that others couldn’t peek into her mind’s contents whenever they wanted. She opened her mouth to express the thought, but was interrupted by the man’s demonstration of a peculiar Ki technique.
On Vegeta, Rabiko had been instructed in most of the fundamental uses of Ki, but that education had not gone as far as teaching her particularly cunning maneuvers. No, it was quickly becoming apparent to her that the Saiyan school of thought revolved around blasting and damaging more than it did subduing or outwitting their opponents. Though her interest had been piqued by his creative uses of Ki, Rabiko did continue to subscribe to the belief that overwhelming power was the best kind.
“I don’t know anything fancy like that, but I do have a few moves in my book. I know how to fly, I can move really fast using my Ki, and I was working on mastering an Afterimage technique before I departed from…” Rabiko’s words trailed off as she struggled to find the correct memory. Had she been learning it on Vegeta? No, she didn’t think that was the case- an Afterimage technique would have surely saved her from the embarrassing defeat at the hands of her insectoid students. Did she start learning it before she was ousted from that planet? That seemed equally unlikely for the aforementioned reasons. Then… Her features scrunched together suddenly, not unlike a baby who had tasted her first lemon. It was unfathomably frustrating to not remember where she had been before now. After a moment, her shoulders dropped alongside her expression. She had given up trying to recall her recent trip’s point of origin.
“... where I came from before here, which I am not at liberty to disclose…” she bluffed and hoped that he would not pry any more information from her. “... Anyways, I also have a pretty strong blast attack, but it has no finesse and explodes in my face a lot. It’s kind of like wielding a giant hammer that’s also a bomb- and everything's a nail. I can fire some smaller Ki blasts, but nothing as strong as my Cinder, and if I put too much Ki into them, well… they also explode in my face. Come to think, I’m actually pretty bad at Ki stuff, so maybe having a teacher that isn’t trying to beat me up while I’m learning might help me not be so bad with it!” She offered him a laugh in spite of herself, hoping that the humor at her upbringing would lift her spirits back from the put that amnesia had dropped them in.

TOMA THE HEROAhh, typical Saiyan mentality. Blast the opponent until it was dead. Toma subscribed to that ideology once, and then he met a woman who went on to become his wife. She kicked his ass without throwing a single ki blast, which had certainly changed his mind on things. Eventually, the two fell in love, got married, and had babies. But that was another story for another time.
Toma continued to study the girl as she refused to say where she came from. But Toma got the feeling that perhaps there was more to her story. Was she holding something back? Lying to him? No, no. It didn't feel like a lie. Whatever it was, if she needed help, he'd be here for her. That was going to be his duty as her teacher, after all.
He smiled as she joked about her own past. It was good that she still had a sense of humor. Being able to make light of things like that would serve her well in the future. A good trait to have, and it made Toma chuckle. "Yes, it certainly will. I'd be happy to help you with your Ki. But learning it in practice and learning how to use it in a real battle is totally different." He said, shrugging.
"But I suppose you can't use it in a real battle before I teach you to control it, right?"

Toma
Rabiko’s arms fell slowly away from her chest as the exchange with Toma continued on. It was true that a sense of humor would be particularly beneficial when faced with serious altercations-- it was honestly the only way that she had coped with any of the abuse that she had been put through in the academy. For better or worse, Rabiko had always been too soft for her fellow Saiyans, and that stretched even into her emotional durability. Though she was able to bounce back from psychological injury quickly, sometimes sit was difficult to handle the fact that she was considered a failure by every peer that she had. That sort of environment was not a particularly healthy one for a child like Rabiko to grow up in, as one might well imagine. Despite her failures outside of planet Vegeta’s atmosphere, sending her away from the planet was likely the best possible thing that her father had ever done from her. The shame of her failures weighed heavily in each step she took, but there was always a bright path on the horizon when she could wake up without being struck by another child. These were all grim thoughts, though, and she found herself tiring quickly of them. It seemed as though her luck was turning toward the positive once and for all, and she certainly did not want to look a gift horse in the mouth- even if all of her survival instincts screamed at her that trusting a strange man on a strange world was a foolish move. She defeated her own negative thoughts with a simple piece of rather terrible logic: If I’ve failed at trying to do the right thing all this time, then it only makes sense to do the -wrong- thing. If I fail, I win! It was a hopelessly naive philosophy.
More important than that, this seemingly powerful man was offering to help her correct the fatal flaw in her fighting style, and there was no way that she was going to let that opportunity pass her by. A smile flashed through her lips and reflected brightly within her lavender eyes as she replied, “Yeah! I’ll do whatever you think will help me get better at managing my Ki. There’s nothing more embarrassing than having your attack blow up in your own face, so… I’ll do anything to save myself that hassle again. Then, when I finally go back to Vegeta--” she snapped her right fist into an open left palm, then tried to pop her knuckles for dramatic effect(it was a rather weak sound, unfortunately), “-- and then I will be the bully! Hah, I’ll braid those idiots’ tails together!
“... But that’s for later!” Rabiko’s attention returned to her prospective teacher. “What’s the first lesson, teacher-man?”.

TOMA THE HEROToma couldn't help but chuckle a little bit at her enthusiasm. He was happy that she was so happy and excited to be his student. He'd never had a full time student before! There had been Xitica, but she had disapeered after the first few lessons. He'd tried to find her again, but decided not to press the issue. She'd known where he lived. If she needed him, she could find him.
Toma shook his head at her mention of wanting to be the bully. Yup. She was definately part Saiyan with that attitude. "My teachings are not to make you stronger just so settle some childish grudge." Toma said, looking to her with a more serious face. While he understood where she was coming from, she'd have to mature before he risked teaching her that technique if this was her level of maturity.
"I'm teaching you these because I believe you can be a strong warrior one day. Childish grudges such as bullying will be so far beneath you that you won't feel the need to prove yourself to those kids. I'd say the best way to get revenge on them is to get so much stronger than them that you don't need to show your power off to them. There's an old proverb my master used to tell to me -- 'A swordsman who never has to draw his blade first is the most feared'. Can you tell me why that is, Rabiko?"

Toma
As much as it may have pained the victim in her to admit it, Toma was probably right when he said that using any strength she learned to settle a petty grudge wasn’t the proper way to use her power. Then again, nothing in the world worked the way it should, did it? She scoffed and shook her head, forcing herself to look at it with more maturity. If she couldn’t use whatever powers Toma gifted her to get back at those that had wronged her, she could at least use them to make sure that nobody did it again. Also, she was going to re-conquer that bug planet, and there was nothing that Toma could do to stop it. Except maybe train the bugs in superior techniques. On second thought, she wasn’t going to tell Toma about the Bug Planet at all.
It was a pleasant feeling to have someone believing in her for once, even if they were a total stranger… and even if they would potentially disapprove of a maniacal scheme to enslave a species of sentient bug-people. His idea of preventing bullying, however, seemed to need some work. While it was probably true that his philosophy was put into action the very moment that the two saiyans had met, Rabiko reasoned that he could have accomplished the same result by bluffing alone. After all, she had no way of verifying whether or not he was actually as strong as she had assumed, though… it was probably a safe bet that most advanced fighters she encountered here on out would be able to sense her strength. She really needed to get on that whole ki-sensing training, but first-- she had to figure out why a swordsman was deadliest without his sword. Of course, the answer was rather simple to her.
“I get what you’re saying, and I won’t use what you teach me to exact revenge on my bullies… but I will give them the ol’ what for if they try to start crap again! As for your swordsman, well… it’s obvious-- the swordsman knows how to use Ki and realizes that Ki Blasts are way more effective than a sword. That’s a no brainer, right?”

TOMA THE HEROOf course, he hadn't expected the girl to get the correct answer right away. Even he, when he was her age, had failed the proverb when his master had taught him. She was very much a child, it was becoming more and more evident by the second. But that was okay. It just meant she had that much more room for growth and shaping as a person.
A good person, Toma hoped.
If she grew to be strong and used her power to help others, well, Toma would consider his job to have been completed for her. But the flipside to that also means that she's his responsibility. He has to clean up any messes she may make, even if it pains him to do so. But he accepted that duty when he brought her on as a student.
He chuckled at her answer, partially because it was funny, and partially at how naive she was. Ah, Youth. How he wished he could be young again and redo his life.
"Well, no." Toma said, deciding to show her the true meaning of the proverb. "The swordsman is so skilled with his blade, that he can draw his sword after his opponent draws theirs, and still strike them down. It is for this reason that he doesn't feel he needs to have his blade drawn at all times, because he's confidant in his abilities." Toma said, nodding.
"Just like how you won't have to flaunt your powers. You know you're strong, you know you could defend yourself if needed. Showing off your powers is pointless -- so to speak. Does that make sense?"

Toma
Rabiko’s brow knitted tightly together at the revelation that she had gotten the proverb wrong. A part of her hadn’t expected it to be so simple, sure… but at the same time, she felt as though her answer was “technically” correct. After all, why would one resort to swordsmanship when the same thing could be accomplished through the use of Ki? It seemed nonsensical to waste precious resources on the manufacturing of weapons when your own body could be turned into the most efficient weapon of all. Beyond her basic line of thinking, she found herself objecting to the logic that her impromptu teacher proposed. The swordsman who drew his blade second was the winner, because of his skill-- but then she was to hold her power within herself as a deterrent from potential aggressors? To her, it seemed as though the two trains of thoughts were conflicting rather severely. What was the point in being given a weapon, if you weren’t allowed to wield that weapon? Earthlings sure had a strange method to them.
“So let me get this straight… I’m not supposed to flaunt my power, but simply having it is supposed to be enough to stop someone from fighting me?” Her forehead unfurrowed, though her lips pursed again in contemplation. A moment later, she continued, “That doesn’t make any sense-- I want to fight. I mean, I don’t have to go around killing people… but what’s the point in learning some fancy moves if you never get to use them? Isn’t that like giving a man a shovel, but then telling him that he has to dig a hole with a spoon?”

TOMA THE HERO"Oh, you needn't worry." Toma began. "There will always be strong opponents for you to fight. I'm talking about the case of your going against someone weaker than yourself." He began, nodding. "It's not that you'd never get to use these techniques -- they are useful. But they are not to be used lightly." He went on, looking the girl in the eyes.
"These abilities are dangerous, and misuing them can lead to far more destruction and devistation than one might intend. When you go to use a technique, you have to be absolutely sure you're ready to use it in that moment."
He thought about his time as an Oozaru, and thought that perhaps it was a a better analogy. "Here, maybe this might make it easier to understand." And with that, he decided to do something.
"HAAAA!" He began shouting, his Ki rising. A golden aura enveloped his form, his hair standing on end. His muscles buldged, growing bigger and his pupils turned teal. "HURAAA!"
His hair turned gold as the transformation completed, a strong gust kicking up from his center. He had yet to master the explosive power of the Super Saiyan transformation, and so his energy was still quite high during the initial transformation.
Toma would give her a moment to look over him, before he'd smile. "This is what is known as a Super Saiyan. I'm sure you've heard the legends of the incredible power a Super Saiyan wields. Tell me, if I were to use this power in every fight I was in, what do you think would happen to say, the landscape of the Earth for example?"

Toma
Her lips curled into a tight frown. Wasn’t it a finer line to walk than Toma was letting on? Unless there was an obvious and gigantic gap in their levels of power, such as between the two present Saiyans, wasn’t the only way to determine if someone was actually stronger… to actually fight them? Though power levels were a reliable way to determine the approximate differences in an individual’s damage output, even Rabiko knew that a warrior with a higher value wasn’t always explicitly “stronger” than those with a lower one. This was, of course, to her own personal dismay- the world was far less clear-cut than it should have been.
“But… isn’t it easier to look back and say whether or not you made the right choice in using a technique than to make that decision on the fly? Shouldn’t you rely on your instincts in the moment, and just hope that you made the right choice later?” Though she held a morsel of doubt about her own convictions, Rabiko didn’t think that her outlook was any more or less flawed than the one that her teacher was now presenting. Perhaps it was the Saiyan Academy speaking through her, but it seemed as though Toma’s ideals preached an impossible standard to reach for. “I mean…” she continued, “... I’m not fond of hurting people that can’t fight back at all…” Rabiko added in an attempt to convince both Toma and herself that her personal pursuit of power wasn’t in the name of violence for the sake of violence. Almost contradicting that, however, was her realization that her interest in fighting weaker people wasn’t out of an explicit desire not to harm them so much as it being boring to fight someone who could not properly defend themselves. It was this sort of thinking that had gotten her into her current predicament.
Rabiko’s contrary thoughts were rather quickly cowed when Toma suddenly powered himself up into the legendary Super Saiyan state. Her mouth dropped in sheer amazement at his attainment of the form-- and the realization that the power gap between them was even larger than she had imagined. She may have been a failure of a student, but the Super Saiyan form was no mystery to her… it meant that she was like an ant compared to Toma. Her amazement was purely from his attainment of the form, however- her inability to sense Ki ensured that the only noticeable differences were his aesthetic shifts. The golden aura was surely a telling sign of his power, but it didn’t feel any more or less powerful than the aura that she could generate on her own. Despite her amazement at his form, the man’s following principles were entirely lost upon her.
Toma proposed that fighting constantly in this form would leave Earth some manner of lifeless husk, but wasn’t that only necessarily true if he was fighting someone of an equal power level-- someone that he had to use the form against? “Toma, that doesn’t really make sense to me. If you have the power to end a fight decisively, and the fight is one that should be treated with that level of seriousness… shouldn’t you just do it to begin with? What’s more, if you were fighting long enough to ruin a significant portion of the planet, doesn’t it mean that your opponent was strong enough to require your new form?” She voiced her thoughts aloud, though the girl fully expected to be rebuked with another morsel of the Earthling’s curious violent-pacisism.

TOMA THE HEROThe girl raised an interesting question -- about how if Toma needed to fight using his Super Saiyan form, that the enemy must've been strong in the first place. His golden aura dissipated, his hair falling back into it's natural shape as he powered down from his Super Saiyan state, his muscles and eyes returning to their natural forms.
His hair changed back to black, as he nodded. "Indeed. There are many opponents who I would have to use my full power against, and even then I don't think I could beat them." He thought, nodding. Bing, Zucceta, Maeve, Vi-poi... all powerful foes that could put Toma in the dirt.
"There are even more stages to the Super Saiyan transformation than what I displayed. My power is only the tip of the iceberg." He went on, before looking around them. "But take this area, for example." He motioned to the area around them.
"It's a cold, deserted place. No humans live here. This would make the perfect area for a high intensity battle." He went on, before deciding that maybe he should tell the story of Satan City. "Conversely, I was in a battle in the middle of a city not too long ago. Instead of waiting for the enemy to trash the city, I loosed my strongest attack on him in an attempt to kill him outright to prevent him from destroying the city." He said, crossing his arms.
"That sounds bad, right? That I would unleash a strong attack in the middle of a city? Well, this attack was not one of pure destruction. It was an attack that cuts an opponent like a blade, right down their center. Minimal damage to the surroundings. It's very much unlike a strong ki blast that would leave a crater in the planet."
"But..." He went on. "In most cases, yes. Making a decision in the middle of a battle is important, and you can't beat yourself up on it. You can't change the past, so you must go with your instincts. But being well aware of the risks of an attack is also important. You shouldn't try to level a city to take out one person when you can knock them out of a city first, you know what I mean?"

Toma
Her arms crossed over her bust for a brief second before her left hand lifted to touch her chin. He was right that it would likely cause unnecessary deaths if someone used their strongest attack against a single opponent- particularly in a city, but… if they wouldn’t relocate, and that level of attack was necessary to win… wouldn’t that make it a worthwhile decision? Sure, she didn’t condone the slaughter of those uninvolved in the conflict, but it stood to reason that the same logic regarding his super saiyan transformation should apply to a powerful attack. She voiced her conflict in an attempt to further understand, “I’m sure that there are different stages of mastery over your shiny form, but that sounds just the same as perfecting any other Ki technique. It’s a pretty scary thought that there’s someone out there that could beat a Super Saiyan, but I’d bet that Que--” she interrupted herself suddenly. Was it wise to mention the Queen of the Saiyan Empire in her “home dimension”? If this parallel had developed differently, mentioning a mentioning the wrong royal title could land her in a hot pan real quick. Instead, she averted her eyes quickly and hummed as if she had begun to contemplate something else. Fortunately for her, suddenly shifting her train of thought didn’t seem to be counter to the character that she had presented. That is… suddenly shifting her train of thought wasn’t counter to her character as a general rule. Sometimes, being an absent-minded student had its benefits, it seemed.
“Ah, nevermind about that,” she finally continued, lifting her gaze to again lock with Toma’s own, “I understand that you shouldn’t use a planet-buster on a single opponent if you can help it, but if it’s the only thing that’ll beat your opponent… shouldn’t you do it anyways? I mean, if you’re fighting someone of that calibre, don’t you gamble with the lives of the people in the city anyways with each minute that you don’t decisively put them down? I mean, I’m hardly one to judge, what with the Bug People blunder and all... ” She hadn’t realized her slip up and kept talking anyways, “... but it’s better to accidentally kill half the city and save the other half than to let an opponent destroy the whole thing, right? Strictly speaking, three people remaining alive is better than none, right?”

TOMA THE HERO"Yes." Toma began, nodding to her question. "And that is a good point. You can't possibly save everyone, but saving as many as you can would be top priority." He said, crossing his arms again and nodding. "The world is unfair, and there are times when you'll be forced to use techniques to put someone down. But, still, at the same time you shouldn't be using these techniques on just anyone -- that's the point. But you seem to get that." Toma said, smiling at her.
For one so young, she had a sharp head on her shoulders. He felt that they were going to get along great if they kept their course. He yawned, placing a hand over his mouth as he stretched out his back. He was half-contemplating starting her Ki Sensing training with how things were going, before his stomach decided to interupt him.
Toma's belly let out a loud GRROUUUUU as the Saiyan was stretching, and he chuckled a little bit. "Haha, I guess I'm hungry. Haven't eaten today yet." He said, standing off the chest he'd been sitting on. He pressed a button on top of the chest and it poofed back into a capsule, which he grabbed and slid back into a pocket inside of his Gi.
"What say you and I get somethin' to eat, eh? My treat. I know a few good places near here if you're interested."

Toma
It was to her great surprise that he agreed with her. She wasn’t used to discussing something so… calmly with someone else. Usually by this point in the conversation, her father(Or classmates) would have struck her and declared that it didn’t matter what her opinion was if she wasn’t strong enough to back it up with her fists. So far, this man was willing not only to train her to do just that- but he even granted concessions in his own points when she offered something reasonable and contrary. If it was all the same to him, Rabiko decided that she might want to stay in this ‘universe’ after all. Having a friend and mentor like Toma would see her improve at an unprecedented rate. It was amazing what a little positive reinforcement could do. To that, she could only offer him a smile.
And… a laugh, following his stomach’s injection into their conversation. Of all the points either of them had raised so far, Toma’s stomach seemed to be the closest to unlocking the absolute truth of this universe. There could be no refuting the logic that it presented in its particularly well articulated growl, and Toma seemed to agree when he shifted the conversation toward satiating the organ’s need to be satiated.
“I don’t honestly know when the last time I’ve eaten was. I just got so wrapped up in this conversation that I had forgotten about it, but…” her voice trailed off when she realized that he had proposed that they go somewhere to eat nearby-- Toma’s tone seemed to imply that they were going to visit an Earth restaurant and potentially gorge themselves on the establishment’s no doubt meager food supplies. Still, these things tended to cost currency, and while Rabiko had saved up a bit… she wasn’t sure that her currency would work on this planet- or in this universe, for that matter. That being said, Toma had blown up her pod, and space pods were not cheap vessels by any stretch of the imagination; this simply meant that she could probably extort the price of the meal from him. When it came to food, she was rather like the rest of her Saiyan brethren: quite shameless.
“... I’m broke, and you broke my only thing of value. Lunch is on you!” She playfully threw a weak punch at the man’s shoulder, though any of its remaining force would likely be lost by the differences in their sizes.

TOMA THE HEROToma laughed as Rabiko punched him, claiming that it was going to be him buying. Did she not get that's what he already offered to do. Reaching out, he ruffled her hair a little bit more again in an almost fatherly way before grinning. "Of course! And after that, we'll get to training!" He said excitedly.
Toma knew first hand that training at ones weakest didn't do much. And as such, Toma typically ate before he went on his training ventures. And seeing as how Rabiko was now his first official student, he'd give her the same benefit. What kind of teacher would he be if he didn't give his students all the tools they needed to succeed?
And so, he began to lift off, making sure she was following. "Well then, follow me!" He said, his blue aura surrounding him before he blasted off towards the nearest city. Of course he kept his speed in check so that she could keep up.
