Even though he was prepared for it, Koldar's punch connected hard against Taiga's cheek, knocking him back and to the ground. This action catches the attention of multiple soldiers and civilians, all of which make certain to keep their distance as they continue to the dictated safe zone. Taiga pushes himself up off the ground, spitting a bit of purple blood on the ground, and leers at Koldar as he goes off.
"You are naive, Koldar." Taiga bitterly bites back. He knows retaliating physically would be fruitless, but so too would verbal retorts it seemed. Not that he wouldn't try. "We didn't try hard enough? Now you are the one who sounds like a child, with your accusations of trying to become gods... Neither I nor Ais suggested becoming gods, you fool. Of course you don't care about ruling from the throne; you wouldn't know how to."
Whether driven by his own anger, or foolishness, Taiga walks straight back up to Koldar and glares into the Commander's eyes.
"This empire began as a galactic militant force, so I have no qualms with us reasserting ourselves, but you are woefully helpless when it comes to preparation." Taiga says in a fully challenging tone. "You can't figure out how to lead, so you resort to insults, and blind yourself through denial of our true potential! Death is nothing, Koldar Frost!"
Taiga smirks at Koldar, knowing full well that the Commander would likely put a beat down on him.
"You are the same as the rest of us; a weakling." Taiga growls. "The only difference, is that you lash out to strike even your allies when you cannot contain your anger. You are not worthy of leadership, Frost. You don't have what it takes to lead us, Empire or otherwise. Perhaps Xylo annexing the Empire was a more effective transfer of leadership, than your foolish claim to what you have not earned. Your fits aren't helping us plan; only hindering us. Contribute, or be silent."

Ais began to regret his words when he saw what they helped begat. The Supreme Commander actually struck his own General. He didn't have a very extensive leadership background, but he knew that this wasn't supposed to be what a leader did. He took a moment while Koldar and Taiga argued to calm himself and rein in his bubbling anger. There would be a time for Ais to criticize Koldar's leadership. It would be later, when they weren't in the middle of a war zone. With one final sigh, he opened his eyes and tried to put an end to this, stepping forward and coming between the two Changelings. "That is ENOUGH!" He roared. "BOTH of you!"
He turned to Koldar first. "I have never had to lead before, but I know that a leader isn't supposed to strike their subordinate. Koldar, you were chosen by Xylo to lead. He put a lot of trust in you whether you realize it or not. Was that trust misplaced? Can you not even be trusted to keep a cool head in circumstances like this? All I am saying is that you are doing more harm than good right now. For the sake of the Empire, sir, compose yourself!" He turned to Taiga next. "YOU..." He paused, pointing at the red Changeling. "That is enough of your goading. He doesn't need a lecture right now. What he does need is level-headed guidance. Next time, try that for more than five seconds. You are his right hand. Act like it!" His next statement was addressed at them both, a little more calm than his previous statements. "Surely you both can see this entire argument is folly."
He wished he had more power so that he could restrain the two with force if all else failed, but that wasn't the case. So he would have to continue to use his words, though his faith that it would do any good was quickly diminishing. He didn't expect things to turn out like this and it was all rather maddening. With a sigh, he spoke again, but softer. "Koldar, I know you care. Probably too much. That is why you are so angry right now, correct?" Ais wasn't one for pep talks, but they tried the opposite and it had gotten them nowhere. In fact, it made things worse. He had to remember his mission as well; help the Supreme Commander. However he could accomplish his mission, he would do it. Even if that meant giving a pep talk when he loathed them.
[OOC] Can I just say real fast that I am really enjoying this thread? =D I'm having more fun writing Ais than I have had in awhile.]

With Koldar having struck and spat his anger at Taiga, Voca looked over at the remaining soldiers, telling them instantly, "Keep moving to the safe zone! Keep your focus there!"Taiga's retort only sought to goad Koldar's rage even further. Death was nothing?! "Did you forget that this planet and our people were killed, Taiga," Koldar questioned the man before him! Ais only spoke at a distance, trying to calm him down like that. However, that would not work so well. He bellowed, "You need to get your head outta your ass about death not meaning anything! Death is what caused the AE to split up like this, to dwindle our fortitude and call for this power grab. XYLO HAD HIS PLANET BLOWN APART AND BROUGHT BACK, LIKE IT WAS NO DAMAGE DONE! Yet here he is, having brought forth a Dominion of his own to defend against the savages of the SSE!"Voca would actually walk around to Ais, standing next to him while putting his hand on shoulder and a finger raised in front of his lips to tell him to be quiet. He whispered to Ais, for only him to hear, "This is him disciplining at the moment. He's been at this much longer than you and Taiga were alive. He of all people knows about loss and how to cope with it. Just let this roll out for now! I'll knock him out myself if he gets outta hand."Koldar brought finger up to the red and blue Arcosian's chest, jabbing it at him while stating, "This ain't about being weak because I know FULLY FUCKING WELL that we're weak as hell! I've been at the opposite end of the strongest people in the universe and I am still standing, with you and the rest of our people as your leader! Death, once-a-fucking-gain, is causing disparagement in the people and us, defending the people to the best of our ability, so do NOT go talking as if it's nothing because it is not! You would do well to remember that at the end of this day. Do you comply?"( Taiga, to you!)

Ais daringly steps between Taiga and Koldar, attempting to quell the arguing. Taiga was about to retort again, point out the misgivings and incorrect points, but decides to relent. Rather, he sighs, and spits more blood to the ground. For a long moment, Taiga's crimson eyes linger on Koldar, gauging the smaller Arcosian. He ponders on Koldar's choice of wording... Comply? Did this mean Koldar was asking for Taiga's assistance, and not his loyalty? Perhaps it was a slip of wording, perhaps not.
"I will comply, for the time being." Taiga replies flatly. Koldar still didn't understand properly; of course this is about weakness. In a universe where power is everything, their lack there-of is the center issue. "So then; what do you think needs be done, then? Training? Perhaps you may consider a dialogue with the Saiyans, to approach them and discuss a cessation of hostilities? Perhaps we abandon Arcose altogther, and retreat into dark space, and settle elsewhere to prepare ourselves beyond the eyes of the Saiyan Solar Empire and the Mazoku Dominion? Our options are few, and fleeting; and you adamantly refuse to believe that our evolution is the key to our people's survival. So, what will it be?"

Ais's call for peace fell on deaf ears, it appeared. He stepped back and let the two have their argument. Maybe this was just the kind of thing that needed to sort itself out. Ais felt something in the direction of the battle at that point; a falling energy. It was that purple Majin that had nearly killed him not long ago. It seemed that Xylo's pet dealt with it. He crossed his arms and frowned in the direction he felt her energy. Soon, it dwindled to nothing. She was dead. "What a waste." Ais hoped that this wasn't the last he would see of the Majin. He had a score to settle with her. That was in the future, however. The battle had been won. The Super Saiyan's ally was dead and the monkey's energy felt like she was just barely hanging on.
Maybe it was time for him to go. He would have, if he didn't feel like Koldar and Taiga were going to kill each other. Thankfully, Voca came up to the Changeling and put a hand on his shoulder, signaling for him to be quiet with a finger to his lips. 'Oh look, if it isn't the one that called me asinine.' Ais thought, amused. He chuckled, waving Voca off. "I've washed my hands of the situation. I leave it in your capable hands, Chancellor. Just make sure they don't kill each other. I don't want to have to explain that to Xylo." He cleared his throat. "Now then, I have my orders. I'm going to go check on the other worlds. I've lingered here long enough. I sense that the battle for Arcose is reaching its conclusion, so there isn't much of a point for me to be here anymore."
The Changeling turned to leave, looking back at Voca before he did. He hesitated for a moment, as if he was choosing his words carefully. Finally, he spoke. "Until you have watched your people fall from the realm of gods, you couldn't possibly understand how important it is to have dreams and goals. Even unattainable ones. Especially unattainable ones." He stated, a response to what Voca said earlier about how discussing things like evolving their people fresh from the battle was asinine. Ais turned towards Voca and bowed politely. "Until next we meet. Do give General Taiga and Commander Frost my regards when they've stopped their argument." At that, Ais turned back towards the location of his ship and took to the skies.
While he made his way to his ship, he thought about all that had transpired while he was here. He came into this with a less than rosy view of his people. But his trip here changed him. Now, he had a dream. A bigger dream. He would make the Saiyans pay. Not just for what they did to his father, but for what they did to his people. He would grow his power to even greater heights so that he could be the avenger his father wanted him to be. A smirk crossed Ais's lips as he rocketed through the sky. This was only just the beginning.
Exiting thread! Thanks a lot guys. It was tons of fun. :3 I'll be taking PL w/ HW and Suppressed bonus when it comes time to turn this one in.

"We first establish long range sensors and a spy network upon our foes," Koldar immediately retorted, "If there's going to be an attack, I want us to know and react from our part of Arcosian Space! While that happens, we are to train our soldiers and learn more about what our bodies can do, instead of saying it aloud as though it can already be obtained. There are archives in the Capital that should still be undamaged due to the scrutiny of the palace's servants. If there isn't there, we will find the information elsewhere. There's many sections of the Glacial Belt alone that are supposedly withholding labs to experiment with... Somatotrope was product of Wyntre's regime, even though he is very unlike the former Queen. Training is to constantly be going on though, with only 2 days of reprieve a week, and once a month, there will be a survival match against the top brass, myself included, for the soldiers to undergo! You will know what that entails later this month."Voca, meanwhile, listened to Ais's fairly sarcastic response, to just calm himself. The Heran smiled briefly before his lips became flat. Ais went to explain that he would be heading to the other worlds, to check on the situations there. He nodded to him, directing his attention to the two right as Ais left. This caught Koldar's attention, but he wasn't going to tell a soldier of his ally's how to do things. Right now, his general needed to be directed on his strategy to counteract the SSE. "Right now is the perfect time to insert a probe into the SSE's remaining forces," Koldar explained, his mood not exactly lightening up, but becoming less intense, "That is only second to making sure our planet undergoes repair and get a headcount on those we've lost in this latest attack on our allied worlds. We will create a Memorial dedicated to those who've died here and on the other Arcosian territories. Voca will handle that... Also, due to this recent attack, we shall be having off-world visitors be heavily inspected. Anyone coming from the SSE is to be put into internment camps, regardless of species, and if they have a power level of over ten thousand, they are to be sent there with energy restriction devices on their limbs that are to be inspected daily. I will be having a doctrine made for these times for the people to follow... Voca, are you catching this?""Yes sir."Koldar looked back to Taiga, asking him in a stern tone, "Is that understood, General Taiga?"( Taiga to you! Ais, very good thread indeed! Although, I feel you're about to start missing some more good parts. XD)

It comes as some surprise to Taiga that there were experimental labs located in the Glacial Belt, but not terribly surprising. Taiga continues listening to Koldar's plan, but a few things stand out as needless, at least to Taiga.
"While spies would be useful, I have doubts as to whether we have anyone to spare at this point. And it takes time to properly train individuals for the role." Taiga counters. "The only viable option in that regard would be to establish contact with already existing spies, if there are any."
Taiga's voice loses its challenging tone, becoming more wary. He raises a brow at another part of Koldar's words.
"Internment camps? Monuments? You can't be serious." Taiga replies irritably. "If anyone comes here from the Saiyan Solar Empire, they should be regarded as enemy combatants and summarily killed upon discovery. We don't have the resources to feed prisoners after this attack, and our people certainly wont tolerate them. Showing mercy to enemy combatants is a foolish move; we do not the luxury of acting like we care about them. And monuments to the dead can wait until the war is over, assuming we even survive it."
"And what do you mean by 'survival' matches?" Taiga inquires. "It sounds like you are suggesting a kind of action that would see the possibility of strength dictating who serves leadership roles. I refuse to permit powerful but inexperienced soldiers to attain new ranks based solely on whether or not they are able to survive fighting higher ranking soldiers. That would be a senseless waste of talent, and serve only to thin out our already meager forces."
"I say that no one outside of the Arcosian Empire or Mazoku Dominion be granted access to Arcose or our territories. Any who force their way onto our worlds should be treated as a threat and eliminated." Taiga continues, his eyes reflecting a growing inner ruthlessness. "Rebuilding should, as you say, commence once Xylo has eliminated the Majin and the Saiyan invaders. Headcounts and burials are fine, but we cannot waste time on trivial things."
"As for your suggested training regimen, I find it to be appropriate." Taiga tells Koldar, finally finding something to agree on. "Now, with my counter points out of the way, I ask again, this time to you, Koldar, since your subordinate stubbornly ignored my question. What is the status of Kanassa? Is it still controlled by pirates?"

Koldar was going to speak on not know about Kanassa, but Voca cut in at this point, stating, "Actually, this is the first time he's going to be hearing of this, too. I had remained silent because it was obvious the air needed clearing. Kanassa is indeed still being held by that pirate lord. Nothing has happened on it, though.""As for those coming from the SSE being registered as adversaries, that is the plan," Koldar stated, "I only speak of those who are already here on our planet to be put into those, 'internment camps,' that I mentioned. Take them as informative areas we can access..."Koldar paused, to take a few steps away and continue with the explanation of his orders. His tone maintained its sternness, as he explained his orders further, "I will explain everything behind my orders right now, starting with the training exercise. This training exercise is to have our lower ranking soldiers to develop strategies against areas where there are high power level targets. In a smaller scale, it would normally be soldiers fighting against one higher level target, but due to the nature of an entire force having targets that make even Wyntre's power level small, we have to adjust the size of this to work accordingly. The objective of this monthly training mission is going to vary and is intended to have our soldiers focus on a singular objective. In the training within my force, it has been recovering 'stolen food and medical supplies,' my men would need in the deep reaches of space. Voca here has partaken of this exercise many times, often serving as a distraction for the medical wing to secure part of our supplies and returning to the ship. For the case of fighting our enemies, the objective shall be determined through private networks between the commanding officers in the Arcosian forces, including yourself, me, and Chancellor Voca."Koldar, at this point, turned back to Taiga and asked him, more demanding than questioning, "Are the recruits that we brought on, Glacius and Glaze, working their asses off to improve themselves and be worth our time?"( Taiga and back to you. I'm thinking we wrap this up in the next post or two. Sound good?)

Taiga listens silently to Koldar's explanation; when better worded, the plan made sense. However, the word Chancellor makes Taiga's stomach turn; this is an Empire, not some Republic. But such disagreements could wait for another time. Finally, Voca had given the answer Taiga was looking for. Kanassa was the place of Taiga's death, his humiliation. And that some pirate indeed held sway on what rightfully belongs to the Arcosian Empire was a further insult, one he would correct.
"When I returned, Kanassa was not populated; something had annihilated the soldiers and citizenry. Before the invasion, I had made it my interest to find out why." Taiga tells the two. "The pirates likely saw an opportunity to loot what was left over; weapons, tech, armor... But there was no Saiyan presence whatsoever. If you want a place to train away from their eyes, that's where we should go. We take back Kanassa, and rid it of those pirates. We turn it into a world specifically to train our soldiers."
Taiga looks at Koldar.
"As for the recruits, they need work." Taiga answers honestly. "They are stubborn, and seem to hold some degree of animosity towards each other; a rivalry perhaps, but not a friendly one. But they have potential."
((Sounds good. My next post will be my exit. Good thread Let's see how this goes.))

"That is very strange," Koldar told him, a straight face remaining when Taiga alerted him about the strange annihilation of the inhabitants. He turned to the Heran Chancellor and asked, "Voca, did you hear of this?""That is the first time, and it's quite disturbing, too,"[/color] Voca described his vexness verbally, "We'll need to commit some time an effort to investigating while training our forces there.""Good to hear you're on the same page... Taiga, I want you to take the recruits there on a mission and conquer the planet. This pirate will be made to surrender the territory to us. Use that to straighten them out... And if they don't, get it into their skulls by any means you deem necessary that their attitude will not be tolerated. I will supply you with what you need to make decent fortifications on this planet. Be quick with it, too, as I anticipate Xylo will want us to get moving soon for a counterattack against the SSE. Voca, we're going to get moving back to the ship," Koldar ordered, after acknowledging the similar mentality that Voca had! They couldn't afford to wait, and while Taiga may not like his methods, the results would be worth it in the end. Koldar looked back to Taiga, pointing at him and telling him, "At this point, I cannot care about your situation, about what you've experienced with death. However, it is going to be made clear now. Death DOES MATTER! I don't know what happened on Kanassa the first time around to make you think that, but don't you dare, while and ESPECIALLY in a fucking warzone where death has occurred, say that it doesn't matter! We risk our lives for people so they don't have to undergo the horrors that come from out here. You're a man who is in charge of many, so you better get your act together and realize that."The Supreme Commander leaped into the air, hurtling towards the docking bay for the ships that his own was at. The fighting near by was coming to an end, from what he could feel. Those people crowding at his ship were going to have to rummage through their destroyed homes and make due with the harsh reality that was facing them. Voca, meanwhile, remained behind a bit longer. He walked over to Taiga, telling him, "You aren't wrong about him being well connected with his men. While it's weakness, it is also his strength. Connections are good to have... And it'd be good for you too, General Taiga. If you gather any information, send it over to me. I'll be sure we can put it to good use!"Voca saluted the tall Arcosian before rushing after Koldar soon after, leaving the General to his thoughts. ( Taiga I'll be taking my leave here! PL with suppressed form is what I aim for! Good thread, guys! )

Taiga's lips spread in a cruel smile, hearing what Koldar wanted Taiga to do. Although, Koldar's indignant speech about how death wasn't an issue, and his righteous talk of protecting others began to bore away at him internally. To his own surprise, Taiga found himself thinking privately that he was starting to care little about civilians and their plights. He shows no outward signs, other than to shrug and bow his head forward.
"I will gladly take Kanassa back from the pirates." Taiga proclaims, his cruel smile accented with his piercing gaze. Any means necessary, was it? Taiga would only use one means. Pirates dared to steal from the Arcosian Empire, taking advantage of the war; death was their only fate now. Taiga looks at Voca as he speaks, and silently recalls having the android skull aboard The Tyrannical, his flagship. He would provide Voca with the skull after returning from Kanassa, and possibly with other items; supposing those pirates hadn't picked the cities clean.
The two fly off, leaving Taiga alone as the last of the civilians and soldiers dredge by at a distance.
"A man who is in charge of many... Dear Koldar, I will be in charge of far more than that one day." Taiga muses. His thoughts drift to his earlier discussions with other beings, and how he still referred to himself as a being of the Lower Clans... This would no longer happen... that Taiga is dying off, laboring for breath as the new Taiga crushes him under heel. His weaker self would not be the only thing he crushes...
"I think... I am beginning to understand." Taiga mutters, touching his right-hand forefinger and thumb to his chin. "Koldar's compassion for the people is holding him back... Wyntre's attempts to make the Empire more neutral brought ruin upon Arcose... The Saiyan's smelled weakness, and struck... With so many trying to claim lordship in Wyntre's absence, the Saiyans again smelled opportunity, and now this battle rages..."
As if on cue, another thunderous explosion rumbles in the distance, lighting the swirling black clouds with various bright lights, drawing Taiga's crimson eyes. He smiles.
"Death is a door... Those who fall, and have the will, shall rise again as I did. This war will rage forever, on and off, but never truly end. Not unless an overwhelming force wills it to..." Taiga tells himself, almost as an afterthought. "Death is a test... He will understand only when he is forced to confront his own convictions. Perhaps a horror beyond imagining is exactly what is needed to unify this universe of ours... A horror more terrible than death itself."
Taiga's eyes seem to light up with a dark purpose.
"I've spent so long trying to please others, played the role of a loyal servant... And for my dedication, I am weak." Taiga whispers, slowly levitating off the ground, moving vertically up gradually. "To be strong, to see the universe unified... I must become a force to be feared... to be obeyed... To become a lord whom all seek to appease... I am nothing right now, but one day..."
Taiga lets his sentence trail off as he rises faster, the glow of the demonic star bathing Taiga in its light. He turns and rockets away, heading for his ship, and his mission to retake Kanassa...
And now I take my leave! Great thread guys
