Two two of them were alike in many aspects. Age, political views (although, truly, Wyntre did not know much of his political views), educations (to an extent) and how much encouragement they had received in their youth. Her youth had been one of training, struggling against gravity and education. If this had continued for the rest of her life, she'd have been the greatest warrior Arcose had ever seen. But, she had been the Empress of Arcose, not its soldier. She found herself doing other things, like advanced political theory, wine-drinking and the playing of absurdly-complicated versions of chess. One could say that this had 'softened' her; now that her actions were her own for the first time and now that disobedience was not being punished, she became a self-centered princess. Things changed, as they always do. How would things be different, it is wondered, if she had a parent figure in her youth?
The good Lieutenant was moving back to her as soon as his feet touched the ground. He shot blue ki blasts at her as he moved, presumably in the hope that it would distract her. She dodged all of them by moving from side to side, although it did leave her distracted. Trying to recuperate and seeing that she was soon to be kicked, she moved to the side and attempted to use Artickahn's forward momentum against him by tripping him with her tail. But, she didn't move quite fast enough. She was hit in the thigh and therefore didn't quite manage to trip him as he had hoped.
She would then attempt to ignore the pain to catch his fists with her hands and headbutt his face to push him back. However, if she missed or he merely wasn't pushed back enough, she would sense what he was trying to do (she had often employed that exact tactic, after all) and try to shoot his stomach, no harm intended, with a point-blank ki blast from her tail.

The young Arcosian closed in and all was going as planned. Wyntre dodged his ki beams with ease, moving side to side. But they did their job, opening up a landing for his true first attack. The kick to her thigh landed flush with the edge of his foot and soon after, a barrage of punches would be let out. Or at least they would have if the Empress didn’t catch Artickahn’s fists in her hands. Keeping him stuck in place long enough for the Empress to dish out a headbutt aimed at his face. But Artickahn thought on his toes, he responded with a headbutt of his own.
As their heads clashed and push against one another, Artickahn was oblivious to Cold’s next move. The ki blast from her tail impacted his stomach, hurling him backwards. His feet skidded against the ground, tearing up the small layer of grass that covered this plateau. However, he managed to catch his balance before falling flat on his ass. He reached a hand down and rubbed his stomach, just to make sure he wasn’t bleeding. All the while he did not take his eyes from Wyntre. He was always taught to never take his eyes from his opponent, even in a friendly duel.
Damage assessment complete, it was time for a new approach. With a new plan in mind, he rushed back into the fray. Making a beeline straight for Wyntre this time. However, he would not go in for a strike, instead he would seem to go always past her before stopping abruptly. He would try and grab her, hoping to hip toss her over his own body and down into the deep fissures that line the numerous elevated platforms. If that were successful, he would soon follow her down, hoping to engage in midair combat. His agility, especially in his suppressed form, was one of his biggest assets.

Wyntre winced at the headbutt. Newton’s laws be damned, being the recipient of a headbutt hurt far more than dishing one out. Although… that was sort of the point, was it not? No matter.
Her tail unexpectedly sent a ki blast directly into his centre of mass. The slight sizzle and sliver of smoke coming from the end of her tail indicated that she had put enough energy into her the attack to burn the oxygen in the way, even after the attack had passed. But, despite this, it was only a small ki blast, having had most of its effectiveness being derived from its sheer unexpectedness. He had been sent backwards, again, but this time didn’t run back to her as soon as his feet touched the ground, but rather kept eye contact and checked for damage through means other than sight. ”If you’re worried about being damaged, you can access my Rejuvenation Tanks after the sparring finishes. They don’t sting.” These Rejuvenation Tanks were at the forefront of medical knowledge. They weren’t merely tanks filled with an oxygen supply and a healing liquid, but tanks filled with an oxygen supply and a really good healing liquid. They were on her ship, the Valiance, staffed by experts and soldiers loyal to her. While technically still a sanctioned AE vessel, its whereabouts were not known to the likes of Retsu. This was good, very good, as Wyntre did not trust Retsu not to destroy the Arcosian Navy’s greatest vessel merely to spite her. But, then again, she wouldn’t trust him to die properly either.
She entered the sort of stance you’d expect from a practitioner of shéquán. She was expecting a direct attack, and as such was very much so prepared to strike back in retaliation. Yet, that attack hadn’t come. Instead, he went past her slightly and then stopped. He was no fool, this had a purpose. Unprepared and facing the wrong direction, he had successfully grabbed and threw her elsewhere.
She corrected her flightpath before hitting anything solid. Expecting an immediate attack, she decided to give her fighting style another go and went into the type of stance that you’d expect from a practitioner of shéquán, if that practitioner could fly and could make use of a tail that could shoot laser beams. Martial arts are flexible, as can be seen. Hoping to keep her enemy on his toes (despite the fact that he was flying), she sent a powerful yet painfully standard ki blast at him, and then another, and another, and then just kind of kept going until it would be silly to continue, or until he got close enough for melee attacks of that type (although would that not be considered silly in and of itself?). He could escape their grasp if he attacked her quickly, if he managed to dodge each one (therefore removing the possibility of him attacking physically) or if he opened up some form of shield. Or, you know, he could just ignore the pain. They wouldn’t do an awful lot of damage, as this is a spar, and a spar in which your all was given was commonly referred to as a deathmatch. He was going quite well, all in all. He would have an advantage after this, too, for she was burning a lot of ki for this.
