Tomoyo eyes widened in astonishment at the sight of which he was beholding. It was a forest:
MADE OUT OF BAMBOO
" This place is so awesome!" The hybrid child shouted out in glee as he began running among the wooden shoots that populated the ground in every direction. If he wasn't swinging off of one pole, he was trying to stand on the next or even punching a few to see how they felt. Every second it was almost like Tomoyo had zipped off to another part where he proceeded to have the time of his life playing among the reeds. Still though, there's only so much fun a person can have playing with a bunch of wooden tubes sticking out of the ground, even should they be an overenthusiastic and exited 11 year old hybrid. So it was no surprise when he finally plopped down onto the ground under a web of especially dense foliage to take a little breather; even Tomo doesn't have infinite energy~ Tulip Waterfield

The young woman threw another punch, sending a row of bamboo stalks rustling in response. The woman's brow was covered in sweat and her white tank-top was soaked from her exercise. Ten thousand punches in a day...wasn't enough. Sighing in irritation, Tulip lowered her arms and turned away. She had encountered numerous people in her time in the Bamboo Forest, making her realize just how weak she truly was. Having lost half the matches she had been in, the woman wasn't very enthusiastic about the claims she had made to her rival. She recalled his powerful muscles and the feel of his punches, half-grinning as she planned her next battle. "Training like this is fine and all, but having a living, breathing opponent is definitely the best possible way to improve." Almost on that exact note, Tulip noticed bamboo waving in the distance. A person! Dashing forward, she searched the forest ahead for the person moving the bamboo. She paused when it stopped, immediately assuming the person had flown away. With a groan, the woman glanced downwards and saw a small, tan boy lying in the shadow of a dense path of bamboo stalks. Kneeling, she called out to the kid. "Far from home, aren't you, kiddo?"

Tomo was juuuuuust about to fall asleep...
...that was, until he was rudely awakened by the site of a girl staring down at him. For a moment, Tomo just lay there staring up at the face of the young woman. She was kinda pretty, he hair was matted down to her face and her white tank top was soaked a darker shade with sweat, making it look like she had just been on a jog or something.
Finally though, Tomo snapped out of his half asleep stupor before sitting straight up from his position on his back.
THUMP
-knocking his forehead right into Tulip's. "Ouchie!" Yelped the hybrid child as he rolled away from the impact and into a more open clearing, clutching his head as a bump began growing from the blow. "Ow ow ow ow ow ow-" After rolling back and forth in pain for a few more seconds, Tomoyo sat up fully to stare at Tulip with tears barely forming from the corners of his big, wide eyes. "*sniff* Ow, why did you do that~?" Tomo whimpered, at the verge of tears and wondering why a person would just creep up and hit him like that!?

Tulip maintained her steady gaze, despite the resounding ringing that shot through her head. She slowly stood up, popping her neck audibly and sighing. Wiping slight tears from the edges of her eyes from the pain of the impact, the woman took a deep breath and replied. “You’re the one intruding in my home, kiddo. That’s the sign and there’s a stream up there where I bathe.” The woman paused, before realizing the kid was just as filthy as she was. Sighing again, the woman turned and motioned. “Bugs me to talk to such a dirty kid. Let’s go take a bath and discuss why you’re here, kid.” She walked across the clearing, unfolding the clasp to her bag and pulling out two washcloths and towels. Tossing one set towards the short, tan kid, the woman tucked the others under her arm and walked towards the stream. She paused when she was halfway down the path before glancing back over her shoulder. “You coming or not? This will be the last chance.”

Still sniffling to himself as the bump on his forehead throbbed, Tomo's eyes perked up as the girl seemed relatively unaffected and even invited him to take a bath? "Oh..." Looking down at his clothes, Tomoyo didn't really see how he was dirty? Sure, he had a mud stain there and a grease stain here and a lot of dirt in a thin layer over essentially his entire being, but that wasn't that dirty right?
It's not like he even had a bathroom on the tower anyway? Tomo didn't even had a toilet, resolving to simply "go" over the edge whenever the need arose.
Nevertheless, not one to turn down an invitation, the child hesitantly began walking with the sweaty woman while still holding his forehead. "*sniff*...I'm Tomoyo... I'm sorry." He apologized, still holding back the tears as he followed the woman. His mom and dad always did say to be nice to girls, and now it sounded like Tomo did something bad like breaking into her house!
His normally enthusiastic and exited mood dampened a bit, the hybrid reservedly followed the elder without much word.

Tulip glanced down at the small kid, who seemed sad for some reason. Sighing, she smacked him on the back firmly and grinned at him.
“Lighten up, kid. I’ll show you something cool if you wash up properly, okay?” Not waiting for his response, the woman glanced back up and noted the stream. Tossing her towel and keeping the washcloth in her hand, she walked out into the stream still clothed. Wading out to the point where she was waist deep. Bending over, she easily stripped off her shorts and undergarments and began rinsing both out immediately. Tossing them onto the bank next to the towel, she motioned for the kid to come into the water. “It’s not that cold, kid! Make sure to wash your clothes as well!”
With that, the woman pulled her top off and began rinsing that as well. After ensuring there weren’t any new holes in her tattered white tank top, she tossed it onto the bank next to her shorts. She then dived under the water, submerging herself and holding her breath. She began scrubbing herself quickly and efficiently, ensuring she cleaned every inch. After finishing, she laid down on the bottom of the stream bed and stared upwards through the sparkling water. She could maintain this for minutes at a time, but decided soon to check on the young boy.
Rising from the water, she walked over to where the young boy was. Her black hair stuck to her forehead, the water taking the spikiness completely out. She looked closely at the kid. “Did you properly clean your hair, kid? That was pretty filthy, how I recalled it.”

Well, Tomo wasn't really one to stay sad forever. Getting that pat on the back, while it did initially startle Tomoyo, proved enough to knock the sad out of him and make him for the most part an optimist again.
Lighten up, kid. I’ll show you something cool if you wash up properly, okay?
His eyes lighting up at hearing that this girl would show him "something cool" if he washed properly, Tomo began bouncing foreward towards the stream with as much a spring in his step as before. "Okay~" His high voice agreed cheerfully before he came up to the water. Stopping right before his feet hit the edge of the liquid, Tomo turned back to the girl, looking for some sort of direction. He'd never bathed in a river before! Were there different rules, did he wear his clothes like she did?
Mimicing the Tulip's movements, Tomoyo walked right on into the water like she did, fully clothed. Standing there while doing nothing in particular, the boy began taking off his articles of clothing as well before also tossing them back onto the land... still though not doing anything. What was he supposed to do? Where was the soap or shampoo? And how do you wash clothes?
By the time that Tulip had finally come over to check on his progress, all Tomoyo had accomplished was getting naked and had commenced messing around via chasing around a frog in the water until halting at the girl's approach.
Did you properly clean your hair, kid?
"...Um..." Was all Tomo uttered, wet but still covered in the layer of dirt he had walked in with as he stood stark naked with his black and water fluffed tail hanging between his legs.

“...huh.” The woman didn’t hide the disappointment in her voice. She then noticed the tail hanging from the kid’s bottom. A weary smirk crossed her face, before she grabbed the kid’s shoulder and dragged him over to the shallower end of the stream. Noting his still dirty clothes lying next to hers, the woman finally realized what she was dealing with. Pushing him into a seated position, the woman began scrubbing the kid’s hair. She really worked hard, ensuring the kid’s hair was completely clean. She noticed how spiky it got, and decided it was a good time to ask. “So, your parents are Saiyans, right?”
Not waiting for his reply, she began scrubbing his still dirty body with the rag. She grabbed his tail and began scrubbing the dirt off it as well, not bothering to check the kid’s reaction to her sudden mistreatment of his tail.

Being mostly complacent under the Tulip's guidance, Tomo provided little to no resistance as he was sat down in the shallow water and forcibly scrubbed head to toe. Ironically enough, Tomoyo's normally non-Saiyan-like hair became almost gravity defying spiky, deviating in messy directions under the wetter conditions.
"Ah! Aaaaaaah~" Weakly moaned Tomoyo as the uncomfortable scrubbing only intensified as Tulip moved from his hair to the rest of his soft and small body.
So, your parents are Saiyans, right?
At this statement though, Tomoyo's eyes widened as he attempted to turn around and face the girl... only to be forced back to facing foreward under Tulip's intense scrubbing. "Ah~ H-how did you know?" Moaned the boy weakly as he attempted to answer the girl. "M-m-my mom's-(ow~) My mom's one... but not dad."
He was about to elaborate further, but the child's voice was quickly caught in his throat as Tulip quite forcibly and roughly gripped his fluffy, black tail. "EEEEEK~" He whimpered behind his mouth as every muscle in his body tensed and stuck out his back straight like a board. Losing all muscle control the boy simply fell backward into the girl's arms with his eyes wide and visibly shuddering in pain.

As the kid fell back against her chest, the woman realized what had happened and released his tail instantly. She felt guilty after watching his reaction, holding the washcloth to her chest as she waited for him to recover. So, the kid was a hybrid, not a full-blooded Saiyan. Wait...his dad wasn’t Saiyan...which meant...I’m like….what?
Waiting for the kid to recover, Tulip turned around and stood up in the water. Pointing to her lower back, she pointed about where her tailbone was located. “Hey, kid, sorry about the tail. Do I have a scar right about where your tail is?”
She waited for his response, standing in the shallow water ignoring the water dripping from her body. The kid...hadn’t drowned, right?

It took a few more moments for control to return to Tomoyo's body as he groggily sat up. His head felt like it was pounding from the inside and all of his muscles ached... especially his tail. Was that supposed to happen whenever someone grabbed his tail or something?! That's horrible!
Shuddering for a few more seconds, the hybrid child slowly turned around to face Tulip as she paused scrubbing herself to point to bend over before showing Tomo something on her butt or back?
Do I have a scar right about where your tail is?
"Huh? My tail?" Bending back his head to star at his own black tail (still somewhat stiff from the earlier irritant), Tomo's eyes slowly traced backwards from the end down to where the tail began sticking out from the top part of his buttocks.
Looking over at the similar area on Tulip, Tomo traced his eyes along her form for a few seconds before he located the scar... then he found another above that one. Figuring the higher one was the closest to his tail, Tomoyo scooted a little closer before placing a finger on the place where the scar shone on the girl's figure. "Yeah, right here!" He exclaimed, happy to be of some use to the girl and help her out.
"You've got two of them though. Woah! Did they both get cut off?" the ignorant child asked, not knowing the weight of which his words carried. "That must have hurt! Did you're bandage fall off in the water?"

Did they both get cut off?...oh. Rising with a sigh, she grabbed the kid and looked him over one more time. Deciding he was clean, she pushed him into the water completely. A rinse would do him good. She blushed slightly, realizing just how innocent this poor kid was. Thinking on it, she might honestly be the first woman this boy had seen completely in the nude. Not that he could, or would, appreciate that for another five years or so. Maybe he would get strong in a couple years time, strong enough that he would be able to pose a real, worthwhile challenge. Who knows, maybe he was a challenge now? Walking onto the shore, she grabbed his clothes and waded back into the water, before scrubbing the clothes furiously. “Sure, kid, my bandages fell off long ago. So, tell me about home; did you parents treat you well?” She continued scrubbing the grime from the filthy cloth, only glancing up occasionally to gauge the kids reactions.

Feeling happy that he was being helpful, Tomoyo shut his eyes in a wide smile as he faced Tulip with a friendly demeanor...
Only to be sputtering out water from his nose once more as he face-planted into the river. "MMBBPMBPPHMPH!" His voice bubbled underneath the water before Tomo finally pulled himself up. Turning back to Tulip, the hybrid child was understandably mad. "Hey! What was that for?" He questioned before noticing that after pushing him back into the water, the girl had gone on to pick up his clothes and start washing those too.
"...thank you." Tomoyo mumbled under his breath before he began wading through the water to look more closely as Tulip washed his worn out and dirtied clothing.
So, tell me about home; did you parents treat you well?
When Tulip talked next to Tomoyo, her question made him fall silent for once as he considered the question with even a hint of seriousness. "...my home... um... I live on a Tower in the west!" Tomo announced, deciding to just skip over the other part of the question and hope she didn't inquire further.

She noticed his silence, and saw his downward gaze. When he finally spoke, she could tell he was hesitating to admit something. That was sad, that there was something that dark in the kid’s past. So, he lived in a Tower to the west?
“Tower to the west, huh? I might visit you someday, make sure you’re cleaning it up properly. If it’s like your appearance just now, you might need a housekeeper.” The woman finished cleaning the clothing and tossed it onto the shore next to her drying clothes. Then she waded out of the stream, securing her towel. “Get on out of there, kid. You’ll catch a cold if you stay in there too long.” Motioning for him to grab his towel, the woman walked over to a rock she had been using as a set for a few weeks now. She wrapped her towel around her waist and sat down on the washcloth, before waiting for the boy to arrive. Tulip spoke up, loud enough he could hear. “My mother was a Saiyan, and my father was a human. He was a legendary martial artist where I grew up. He left when I was only a baby, so I never knew him. I chased after his legacy, becoming a martial artist. I was about your age, and height, when I fought my first alien. Almost died, too. I couldn’t give up pursuing my father’s shadow, no matter how much pain it brought my mother. Which is what brought me to Earth. I’m sure you have your own, sad story as well, but I won’t ask further.”
The woman paused, before glancing up at the kid with a small smirk. “Hey, kid, what’s your name?”

Feeling relatively relieved that Tulip wasn't asking him to delve more into detail about his parents, Tomoyo happily bounded out of the water while following Tulip. "You should come visit and play! I have a couch and everything!" The child happily replied while following the elder out of the water, either not addressing the state of the home's cleanliness either out of indignant refusal or truthful embarrassment.... probably the latter.
Grabbing onto the towel that Tulip pointed towards, Tomo proceeded to awkwardly play with it over his head before somehow getting tangled in the fabric as it wrapped around his form... he really could not bathe himself at all. At first struggling heroically against the malicious cottons, Tomoyo's wriggling form ceased such when Tulip began talking, discussing her own family. "She's like me." He thought in his head as he listened; they both had a Saiyan mom and human father!
...but Tomo's dad was a nerdy professor that was always busy, and his mom was just a train-a-holic.
Feeling really sad about Tulip's state of family and having such a sad past, tears began forming at the ends of the hyrbid's eyes as he unwrapped himself from the towel. Jumping foreward, Tomo gave the girl a warm hug to show how sorry he was as he buried his face into her form. "I'm sorry." He apologized. Tomoyo knew he wasn't at fault for any of it, but at such a young age he simply did not know any words to convey the feelings of sorrow and compassion he felt to her besides the very basic and mundane "sorry."
Hey, kid, what’s your name?
Lifting up his head while tilting it back in the head, Tomoyo smiled wholeheartedly at Tulip before chuckling. He didn't really care she forgot his name, so Tomo figured he'd introduce himself to her again. "I'm Tomoyo! I'm 11 years old!" He responded happily, granting the older hybrid a friendly smile. "What's your name?"
