Satan City – the effective capital of the planet Earth was by far one of the largest and most densely populated areas on the planet. It was in those places where humans gathered that other things could breed, and it was a need to know about those things that had drawn in the entity known as Azguard. Where better to find a myriad of diseases to learn about than a place as busy as this? In all honesty, the Bio-Android hadn’t come here purposefully. Rather, it had flown its way randomly about the continents in search of new areas, and just so happened to have spied the great city on the horizon of this fine afternoon.
‘A new strain of Rhinovirus?’ it puzzled mentally. ‘Why does Azguard never find the same strain in more than one place?’
Standing in the middle of town, the nascent panacea observed with wonderment the genetic material of yet another strain of common cold. A mass of azure blue, shaped vaguely to possess trunk-like legs and arms without joints, seemed to hover idly amongst a curious crowd. People had a hard time getting used to the abnormalities of the world at large. No matter how many times humans saw them; strange things always drew simultaneous sparks of intrigue and fear. Fortunately, none of them had anything to fear from this one. The only thing that needed to panic from the touch of this ‘monster’ was the millions of infectious bacteria.
Somersaulting steadily within its Plasm, Azguard’s Core examined its surroundings – tall buildings and peculiar vehicles alike reminded it very much of its first time outside of the laboratory in which it had been born. However, it was distracted somewhat by more interesting processes. Having absorbed thousands of bacteria from its surroundings in the space of a couple of seconds, Azguard was hard at work processing them, finding their weaknesses and strengths – and by extension, seeking out a means of rendering them completely harmless to human health.
From without, it didn’t look so busy…

Tekuma was walking through town with her sketchbook and pencil, taking small notes of the things around her or whatever caught her interest. Constant streams of people would come, leaving a few minutes for Tekuma to sit on a deserted bench for a minute.
Satan City was incredibly busy, and Tekuma was glad there was no school on this weekend day. It helped her to study people around her, despite the faint nervousness in her aura.

‘Hmm…!’ Its telepathic echoes grunting quietly within the back of the minds of passers-by, Azguard had finally managed to discern some new facts about the corruptive life forms that were known as viruses. Still, the common cold eluded some of the medicinal marvel’s understanding, but that was to be expected. After all, it was still in its early days, as far as its personal research was concerned. On the other hand, bacteria posed little issue.
Having finished processing its most recent specimens, the azure entity finally made to move, shifting its way quietly through the streets of the enormous and sprawling conurbation. There was always more to learn – an abundance of enigmas to which it wished to find an answer. One such enigma was soon to present itself.
Sitting on a bench, a young human girl seemed to scribble away upon a notepad. Comparatively short, with a fair but at least somewhat healthy complexion, it was not until Azguard drew closer that it realised abnormalities in the individual’s appearance. As human as she looked, with bright jade eyes and hair that looked magenta thanks to the sapphire Plasm that encompassed the cellular life form, there were features of her physiology that stood out.
‘Excuse me,’ the entity’s thoughts resonated as it hovered behind the girl. ‘Are you healthy? You have strange growths on your head.’

Tekuma was writing down notes, occasionally looking up to take more notes on the life in Satan City. It was rather busy, with honking cars and the cacophony of sounds from human voices to the steps they took. The hybrid tried to make sense of everything going on at once, mind running in circles.
As a voice sounded in her head, the hybrid got surprised and looked around, before sensing a ki over eleven times her strength behind her, to which the teen turned to look behind her. The sight surprised her too, but in her head she thought the little blob was adorable.
"Oh! Hello there. What growths do I have on my head, do you mean my horns?" Tekuma indicated the curved horns on her head before speaking again. "These are my horns, my mother is human and my father is a demon. What is your name and what exactly are you?" Asked the halfling curiously.

“What growths do I have on my head, do you mean my horns?” Curious. According to the red-haired one, she was well aware of the protrusions that adorned her head, and accepted them as a part of her anatomy. Indeed, according to her, they were completely natural! For sure, Azguard was taken aback by such a revelation – never before had it encountered a life form known as a ‘Demon’, and so it really did not know what to expect. Entranced little eyes, unblinking amidst the mass of blue that encompassed its body, traced these so-called horns. They reminded it of those animals known as ‘goats’, but somewhat more slender. And here it had thought they were some symptom of an as of yet unknown illness.
How foolish!
Spinning out of what might have been embarrassment as its own forgetfulness, Azguard had once more messed up its initial greeting. So concerned was the medicinal marvel with the health of others and the satisfaction of its own curiosity that it had not even introduced itself! People skills weren’t exactly its specialty, given the number of people it had already knocked down in its quest to make them healthy. But hey! No harm, no foul.
‘Azguard is Azguard,’ replied the slime psychically. The pale grey Core hovered now at head height for the girl, while the mass of Plasm that encompassed it abandoned its somewhat humanoid state and adopted a spherical form, balanced upon the street whilst supported by passive levitation. It paused, having come across a brand new hurdle. How, exactly, was it supposed to describe itself? There wasn’t exactly a concise description it was aware of regarding its composition, purpose, and racial identity. Indeed, there was no other way it could thing of other than calling itself by name.
But it tried: ‘Azguard is… They are a medicine? Like a white blood cell!’ The more it learned about normal human interaction, the less it really understood it. Fortunately, it had met one individual with a better understanding of what it was meant to be. Admittedly, Walker was not human – that much Azguard had determined – but the Dryad was knowledgeable and wise enough to compare the enigmatic entity to something that most people should have known about. If anything, the comparison to leukocytes was one of the most accurate possible. Hopefully, the bespectacled bonnie would comprehend that description…

Tekuma watched Azguard spinning around for a little bit, faintly amused but curious at the same time. Thankfully, the question was answered as the biomass introduced itself as medicine of some kind. Living medicine... Wait, is this creature a bio-android?!?! Yikes! Thankfully I don't know how it could absorb me though..
Shaking the thoughts out of her head, the halfling continued to speak to Azguard with the faint nervousness in the back of her head. This little creature didn't seem to want to harm her, so the teen offered Azguard a smile. "Yes, these are completely normal for demons to have! Have you ever met any? I'm not a full demon anyway, I'm half human."

‘Azguard has not met a Demon before,’ the Bio-Android responded, innate curiosity forging all sorts of potential questions within the amorphous entity’s mind. Humans were the primary make-up of everything it had encountered since its allotted freedom – Walker was the only immediately noticeable exception. That being said, it had also met Cado, but even the traveller from Konats was at least human in appearance. The same applied to this one; a mysterious girl that even Azguard had mistaken for a human, for she really looked the part.
Curious.
‘They do not know what one is. Oh! What is your name?’ it asked, introductions being a strange thing. Slowly but surely, Azguard was growing used to human social norms. As much as it wished to, a surprisingly small percentage of the population were fond of being enshrouded in a mass of blue slime, and so it had refrained from such things. Rather, asking individuals whether or not they believed themselves to be healthy – as well as observing for symptoms of ailment – seemed to be far more easily accepted…

Tekuma smiled softly at Azguard, her voice friendly. "It's fine. If you met any other demon they might be under the influence of the Makyo Star, but for some reason, I'm not affected by it.. I've seen what it does to some people, and it isn't very good either. Even my father falls under its influence.."
The hybrid shakes her head and looks at the blue sky, gesturing to it gently. "The sky is much more than it appears to be.. Our existences, no matter the species, owe the sky for the oxygen it has, and the plants around us we see every day. A lot of plants are overlooked, but if you understand what they do, you really understand the beauty of nature."
Her voice had a dreamy texture, eyes clouded over as she was lost in her words. Some people would call this wise, Tekuma just believed she was relating information from her point of view, as the hybrid snapped out of it and looked at Azguard once more. "My name is Tekuma, it is nice to meet you." The teen replied gently.

“The sky is much more than it appears to be,” the girl commented, gesturing to the endless above. Azguard listened, curiously eyeing the skies as it did so, as if searching for something particular – perhaps the Makyo Star that she had mentioned? But alas, finding such a thing was near enough impossible. It didn’t help that the infantile entity hadn’t the foggiest idea what such a thing was in the first place. It sounded like some sort of illness, based on the young Halfling’s wording.
‘This Makyo Star sounds like a disease – an airborne infection? Or maybe an allergic reaction?’ the medical marvel thought, still unintentionally radiating its thoughts through telepathy; ‘Azguard will find a way to prevent it. Maybe it has a source which they can absorb…’
The Core swam a slow loop within the Plasm, before looking back to the now properly introduced Tekuma: Had she not just stated that she was unaffected by this anomalous ailment? A thought sprang to mind as the curious creation hovered there for a moment. Trapped within the naïve and innocent belief that the Makyo Star was an illness, it instinctually considered the possibility that it reacted with something in a Demon’s cells to cause these apparently bad things. To that end, if Tekuma was of Demonic descent and yet was also resistant to its influence, then perhaps something about her – her genetic code or immune system – provided her with immunity?
‘Hmm.’ Azguard mimed Walker’s strange habit…

Tekuma noticed the confusion Azguard radiated, hearing the thoughts of the entity. "Hybrids if demonic descent can be affected if their demonic side is stronger. My human genetics are stronger than my demonic ones, so I never really had the influence of the Makyo Star affect me at all. I've met a few demons that ridicule me for being weak, but I try to ignore them."
The hybrid smiled softly at Azguard, continuing to speak. "Its not something you can cure Azguard.. It's how we demons are, spare the lucky that don't get affected by the Star. It turns affected demons into much more powerful, rash individuals as long as it in the sky. I know this because Father is a full grown, full blooded demon. He told me everything about the Makyo I know now."

“It’s not something you can cure, Azguard,” were words that stung somewhat. Driven by an instinctive goal to achieve medical perfection, the cellular sludge was most definitely taken aback by the words that the devil-horned damsel had spoken. The concept of being unable to cure an ailment, no matter how far it progressed, was unnerving – almost frightening. But, thinking back to the conversation it had had with Walker, it was also contradictory to what the Dryad had said:
‘You can always strive higher… Find what drives you; And pursue it until you cannot walk another step.’ Such words had been something of an inspiration to Azguard, and yet the nascent panacea had not quite realised this until now. It knew what its drive was – that was the very core of its existence – and was going to pursue it as recommended. But, who was it to believe? Was there perhaps a middle ground between what the fellow Bio-Android and the Halfling had both stated? It dawned on the entity that it didn’t actually walk, save for mimicry of such movement through the Plasm.
‘…Demons have a rash? Where?’ the malleable medic said quizzically, its lapse in concentration meaning that it had missed a little of what Tekuma was trying to tell it. However, it soon realised its mistake, and proceeded to correct itself without the slightest hint of embarrassment. How was one supposed to show embarrassment when they were both a Telepath and incapable of facial expression? ‘Oh. Azguard misheard…’
‘Tekuma knows a lot about Demon biology and other things.’ It continued: ‘Did your father teach you about plants and oxygen, too…?’

Tekuma lightly giggled at Azguard's misunderstanding, not everyone was perfect even if they were a ball of plasma. The teen found Azguard almost adorable with the floating mass being so, well, cute. It was kind of like a cat, only the cat was a speaking entity that talked through telepathy. Azguard asked her a question, to which the hybrid looked at the sky with a soft sigh.
"Not really, you see, I go to Orange Star High School, or OSHS for short. I don't have scho today so I tend to watch people from atop roofs or on benches. I learned all the stuff about nature through my own harmless experiments or through my biology class."

‘Azguard learned everything they know in a laboratory,’ the amorphous one replied, sharing its locale of education as Tekuma had done. It remembered the days of being confined within a glassy prison, swimming haplessly throughout the Plasm that it was its life support system. Those were interesting times, fed all manner of genomes to which it could cling and adapt, developing its natural immunity to illness and thus improving its chances of becoming that perfect medicinal mould. ‘…Almost. They have learned a lot since being released, too! There are so many different bacteria and viruses – and so many different people!’
It hovered idly for a moment.
‘Does Tekuma think that Azguard will be able to learn more if they go to Orange Star High School?’ Azguard asked innocently, not entirely aware of what a school was. Within its thoughts, it pieced together a simple concept – was it a building, just as the hospital in which it had been born was? Humans seemed to have a fascination with creating architecture for specific purposes, so it did not seem all too unusual to the Bio-Android that a school would follow the same principles.
Curiosity manifested: ‘What is biology class? Is it a person…?’

Tekuma took a moment to ponder the answer to give Azguard, wondering exactly how to describe a school. A few minutes would pass, and the amorphous plasm asked whether biology class was a person. "Well.. It is a.. Class is where you go to a room in the school and it is taught by an adult who went to college and stuff and got a diploma thing. Biology is a class where I'm taught along with my classmates about the living things around us."
The hybrid scratched her head, still trying to explain school. "Well you can try going to school but unless you can hold paper and pencil it won't be very easy. We're taught stuff most adults already know. School is loud and noisy, some people are mean and some aren't."

School – such an interesting concept. Indeed, Tekuma’s description of the facility and purpose of this ‘biology class’ was quite intriguing, especially to Azguard. Born for the purpose of biological development into an effective medical treatment for all ailments and injuries, the idea that there were people who taught others about nature’s systems piqued its interest. Sure, simply by absorbing and deconstruction biological matter, the nascent panacea could learn and adapt its very own genetic makeup in order to immunise itself – and by extension others – against various infectious agents.
But perhaps there was more than one way to learn what it needed to learn?
‘Azguard would like to meet this adult who teaches Tekuma,’ it stated, going on to explain its reasons: ‘They already learned about Ki from Walker and Aiami, so maybe this teaching person at school can help Azguard learn more about biology! They would like to learn more so that they can become better at what they do!’
Excited by the prospect of being able to understand more of itself, the Core swam erratic loops and circles within the vaguely humanoid mass of azure gel…
