Gravity 1/2
More and more lately she seemed to be going into the Gravity Chamber for one thing or another. Pin said it was good, Nana pushed her to do more, be more - and all in all, they wore the child out. All of forty pounds wet, Key hated it in there. The constant pressure to not just fight against the gravity but also to fight against whatever opponent the simulator threw at her or even her own Nanny...sometimes she just felt like she wasn't getting it. This time at the fifty mark, she watched as Ban turned on the machine and immediately fell to the metal plating. So far, she’d been lucky and powerful enough to overcome almost anything. Even with the Makyo Star out she felt so weak and powerless in here. One leg twitched and she was glad to see Nana struggled, too. Not as much as she did, but her guardian struggled nonetheless.
They looked at each other, a struggle, a test who would find their footing first and Nana hurled a Ki Blast at Kay. The child let out a girly squeak as it hit, and then another and another until finally she hummed, blurring with the sound as she channeled her Ki through her voice. Afterimage, that’s what it would be compared to, leaving a fake ‘Kay-El’ in place as she zipped through the chamber to avoid Nana’s real attack. This was a game they played but as Kay got stronger and stronger, she now just focused on dodging rather than fighting. All things considered, she didn’t want to hurt Ban, and that was that.
“Good, good,” Nana said. Instead of more praise, the caretaker just shot more Ki Blasts at Kay and despite it all, the girl knew that was a compliment. If she didn’t think Kay could handle it, Nana wouldn’t do it. As she flew around the room, zipping around close to the ground, she felt the sting of a Ki Blast hit her tail and frowned. Higher ground, she needed higher ground, and she pushed herself up against the pull of the high gravity and into the air enough to dodge behind the central computer. Peeking her head out she saw Nana begin to charge an attack and pursue her, striding towards Kay-El with intent on making this training really sink in.
Vaguely, Kay recalled a similar time back on Shikk, but instead of sparring with Nana she’d been sparring with her father. Days before he left for the trip that would end his life, he took his then three year old out to the beach for some necessary father daughter bonding time which included swimming and sparring and much else, besides. The sound of Nana’s breathing brought her back to the present and Kay-El moves faster than she ever had before, using her Vibrato to escape from the attack’s full potential. Not that Nana could have really hurt her, nor would she, but in that moment all the five year old thought was that it was all so very real. Panic returned like the panic she felt the morning of her fourth birthday when they told her Daddy wasn’t coming home again.
