"I don't know why I came here again..." Samba muttered under his breath as he stood atop the tallest peak of Mt. Paozu, exactly the same one that he had been climbing like mad yesterday and succeeded after obtained a rare burst of power from deep within his psyche. He had been trying to recreate that sensation countless time the moment he woke up but sadly nothing happened that sparked that same feeling as before. The only thing he knew from that experience was that it came from his desperation and need to become strong, and if he was honest with himself he realized that he looked starving mad yesterday with how he lost it completely.
It was clear that he needed to meditate and find his center, to not let how other's power levels get to his head and make him jealous or make him go batshit insane. It wouldn't be easy, far from it in fact if he was honest with himself, he had always been a bit jealous when someone could do things better than himself when he was young, and old habits die hard or whatever the strange saying is.
It was with some disappointment that he left Mt. Paozu that day and crashed hard for the rest of it, but he promised himself to once more come to this biome and train once again to get stronger, and here he was again back to the start.
Samba snorted softly to himself in amusement, half-lidded eyes watching the bright stars in the sky and the full moon shining bright overhead. Sometimes when the moon was full he would dream of that day, when the Saiyans attacked his hometown and lay waste to his life. How one of them had looked up at the full moon with a crazed gleam dancing in his eyes, his partner's body laying dead by the combined efforts of the village's might little ways away from him, and then change into something huge, something powerful and very monstrous in appearance.
He would watch helplessly as the giant ape tore and destroyed his home, his village and his people, the giant lumbering beast uncaring about anything but destruction, the need to kill and dominate everything that stood before it, and then he would wake up with a start, a cut-off scream rising up his throat at the sight of his Mother and Father falling against the might of the beast, their deaths would be burned into his retinas for the remaining of the night and not let him get any wink of sleep until he trained to get rid of that energy, and just collapse into exhaustion for the rest of the day.
Glazed eyes blinked back into the present, the male Zoan shaking his head slightly to get rid of the unpleasant memories of that day and focused back on the now. And just in time too as the night was chased away by the light of a new day. "Perhaps because the view is nice... and I'm not even kidding when I say that." Samba felt a small smile pull at his lips as he watched the sun ascend from the distance, painting the skies with various shades and hues of red, orange and pink and all those in between.
Yesterday when he decided to travel to Mt. Paozu it was hard to appreciate the sights, especially when you were running for your life against the countless predators that dotted the land, and when he arrived he set forth to train his ass off, not to appreciate the scenery, but now that he was calm and relaxed he figured he could give himself that small break for a bit.
"What should I even do for today?" Samba thought aloud to himself, the heavyweights he wore felt marginally lighter than yesterday, but they still dragged him down somewhat unless he was making sure to always channel a constant amount of Ki across his limbs to overcompensate for the huge weight of his body. "I could once more scale this peak... but it wouldn't offer me anything else besides just practice in the case I need to scale up like a damn monkey somewhere else." Samba slowly closed his eyes, his mouth opening wide as he let out a huge yawn of boredom, his body stretched upward as his hands reached for the skies before they dropped back down.
"Nah, too easy, maybe if I need to I'll do it later, what else can I do on this place..." Samba blinked twice, his ears twitching as he focused and registered the sounds of rushing water in the distance. He leaned slightly to the edge of the peak and saw some lakes and even a waterfall or two crisscrossing the landmarks. Humming in thought the Zoan crossed his arms over his chest as an idea formed in his mind. "Perhaps I could go against the raging waters and swim upward? That would give me an honest to god workout if I pace myself." The male paced back and forth as he toyed with that idea and finally came to a decision after a few minutes of deep thinking.
"Alright. I'm gonna go upstream and train that way, I won't rest until I reach an end to it." Samba sweatdropped when he heard the sound of a large animal roaring in the distance. "Or when a predator finds me and tries to make me its dinner, whichever comes first anyway." Samba shook himself as he prepared to do the most stupid thing ever, he took a few steps backward and took a stance before dashing forth and took a leap of faith.
And crashed like a cannonball on the streams below with an unsurprising amount of force behind it, the force that it contained send water flying everywhere alongside the fishes that swam in the crystal clear waters. But Samba had a slight miscalculation when he jumped, and instead of floating in the water he instead crashed right at the bottom of the lake, making a large crater in the process and shaking the whole underwater biome.
Samba blinked as the underwater life stared back at him, and he shooed off a strange looking fish away from his face. It quickly sped off but not before it clicked its pincers at him in anger. 'What a strange ass fish. Alright, I guess I'll just have to force myself back to the surface.' Samba thought internally and started to swim upward, the heavyweights making it difficult but he persevered and gasped in relief when his head punched out of the water.
It was somewhat hard to stay afloat, he constantly had to move his arms and legs and channel his Ki in large amounts so as to not sink back down into the lake's depths. But at least, the first part of his plan was now complete, now he just needed to swim upstream and start his training. "Alright, this will probably make me sore as hell tomorrow but it'd be worth it... I hope." With a shake of his head, the male quickly sped off, his muscles tensing and jumping as he used all his might to advance against the raging currents.
It wasn't easy, sometimes he would have to let himself sink back down to the bottom of the lake and sort of rest for a while before trying again, other times he had to be quick and dodge the random stuff that the lake drifted around, from huge rocks to cumbersome pieces of wood that wanted to smack him around to even the carcass of an animal or two.
Let's just say that the previous appetite that he had been building up to disappeared when he saw the guts of a deer washing along the streams...
Samba's chest rose up and down as he kept going and going, a smile pulling at his muzzle as he felt the burning sensation coursing through his arms, legs and heck even the rest of his body. "I'm gonna be so sore, I can already tell." The Wolf Zoan snickered, but soon yelped when something from underwater grabbed at his ankle and pulled him down.
Blinking startled eyes he rose a brow at the sight of the same fish as before filled his vision, but, this time, the fish wasn't along. In fact, it brought along a larger version of itself. The creature was huge and bigger than he was! And those pincers looked ready to tear something apart.
In fact, they seemed to want trouble, and Samba groaned as he realized that his early prediction of coming in contact with a predator that wanted to eat him came true, he shouldn't have cursed himself even with that internal thought. 'Great, just what I need, distractions from my training.' A sudden idea struck the Zoan and he smirked rather evilly, and for some reason, the two fishes felt like running for the hills when they saw that. 'Actually, you two came at the perfect time, I was starting to tire, and when I get tired I get hungry.' The Zoan licked his chops and watched amusedly as the previous boasting that the fishes showed quickly crumbled to dust when they realized how screwed they were.
One very quick beating later, and Samba was seated on a small rock acting as a temporary seat and in front of him was a makeshift campfire. "Hmmm, delicious." Samba purred as he ate the small fish first and patiently waited for the bigger one to start roasting so he could start his small banquet. "To be honest, they put up quite a good fight. The large one almost tore an arm off when its pincer grabbed me, but nothing that a Ki Blast to the face couldn't solve very quickly. The other smaller fish was easily disposed of, a hard punch to its head and it was deader than dead, and now it was food inside my belly." Samba threw the bones of the small fish aside and sighed contentedly.
"Hmm... should I even continue with my training? It's almost noon, I can't believe I've been swimming upstream for almost five or six hours. And I still haven't reached the end? Is there even an end or does the stream goes forever?" Samba wondered in a strange moment of self-contemplation before he shook the thought away. "Eh, it doesn't matter. Besides I don't want to waste all day just swimming in this lake, knowing my luck I might j-just—" Samba's speech stuttered as he suddenly started to sneeze in quick successions.
The male sniffed and brushed his nose, a frown settling on his face. "Great, now I know that I might have caught something from that stupid lake." His whole speech was said with a nasal tone since his nose was a bit blocked at the moment. "Who's bright idea was it to take a dive at a cold ass lake at ass o'clock in the morning?" Samba sneezed again and grumbled under his breath. "Oh right, me, the genius that I am of course." Samba sighed and looked at the cooked fish in front of him before smirking wide. "Welp, better make sure this doesn't go to waste." Rubbing his hands while having a small chuckle, the Zoan proceeded to decimate the large fish in no time flat.
"Ah, that hits the spot. I'm full for the moment." Samba stood up and stretched the kinks out of his body. "Now I need to work off the calories that that might have given me. A run from here to Satan City should do the trick." Picking at his teeth for a second to ensure he did not have any meat in them the male then focused and floated upward, looking all around him before shrugging and letting lady luck smile down on him as he chooses a random direction to run to. "Alright, hopefully, I can get there before the sun settles."
Settling back down to the ground, the male took a running stance before dashing into the distance, intent on getting to Satan City as fast as possible while weighing what seemed to be a ton.
It was clear that he needed to meditate and find his center, to not let how other's power levels get to his head and make him jealous or make him go batshit insane.
