(Thread PL: 100.014 | Ki Suppression ON | PL: 3.000)
The Saiyan stood firm on the ground, his eyes set on a tree next to him.. it was rather curious. In the time he had spent on Earth, he had usually dealt with people stronger than him many times and such resulted in a certain loss for him. In a certain way, he always thought of something more behind these loss as if he could extrapolate a concrete lesson to use against his own opponent, but it had always been the opposite.
Even if, he couldn’t deny it.. he had been growing but he had no idea if he was an actual match against many others who were times and times stronger than him; just like Raisu Hanamura. It had been long since he met the Hybrid and yet, he felt his presence within himself whenever he trained. He didn’t know how the Hybrid felt towards the Saiyan, but Cornatto had developed a rivalry.. but that was quite obvious for him. In a certain way, it was thanks to the Hybrid if the Saiyan could push on and reach a greater strength, perhaps even thanks to his own Saiyan Blood; a warrior’s. But then why? Why didn’t things change?
He continued to progress, but at the same time he felt like being left behind. He was stronger than ever, but the existence of a greater power bothered, or rather annoyed him. He had learnt different valours, much more different than the ones he was taught of as a children by his parents but, as a matter of fact, such reason was the one pushing him forward to train and do something more than staying behind and let others take care of everything.
He let out a sigh and looked at the tree up and down, shrugging off his thoughts for a brief moment. He rose from the ground and floated in front of the tree, extending a hand upwards as he took a firm grasp of an apple and pulled it off from the branch. He descended and took a few bites, glancing around for a brief moment. “I wonder if anyone’s around.. not on this island obviously but still. I doubt anyone would be bothered by my suppressed aura though.. heh.” - he thought to himself, looking down at himself briefly.
He had learnt to take advantage of his Ki furthermore, to the point of suppressing and setting his energy to certain levels. It could have been useful just in case he was going to spar with someone weaker than him.

There was a power – a far greater power – close by.
It belonged to a dark-skinned, average-bodied human dressed in a solid green collared short-sleeved shirt, a teal tie, black pants, black casual shoes and a yellow beanie. He also had a pair of sleek sunglasses that shielded his dark-colored eyes from the sun and general view. Should Cornatto pursue the human’s ki signature, he’d eventually stumble upon Beryl standing amongst an open field dotted with tropical trees – datapad in hand. The human appeared to be reading over something and every few moments, he’d type away at the datapad, taking notes about … something in particular.
He seemed approachable enough, despite the unreal amount of power he had.

“..I guess I can go now.” - he said to himself, letting out a sigh. He stretched his arms for a brief moment and glanced upwards, his gaze somewhat lost in the sky. It wasn’t the case to let such matters weigh on his shoulders that much, even if it was quite difficult to even just not think about it. One would say he expected too much from himself, but he couldn’t even describe any of that as expectations.. more like something he needed to. He took a few steps forward, looking off in the distance from the edge of the island before he picked up an aura; a huge one.
“W-what?!.. That power.. it’s huge! How could this be?!” - he muttered with eyes wide open. The Saiyan had never felt such an incredible aura, nor had he imagined there could be anyone in possess of a power like that. The Saiyan almost expected all of this to be some kind of trick or anything, but as much as he tried to explain himself how one could trick one’s sense, he failed. He clenched his fist tightly and grit his eyes as he closed his eyes for a brief moment, he couldn’t ignore that aura.. it was definitely a real thing.
“Whatever.. I’ll check this out myself.” - he said to himself, before he took off and flew away.
It didn’t take him long to find where Beryl was, and as soon as he did, he just stared at him blankly. He had expected anything; from dragons to some kind of incredible warriors but all he saw.. was a Human in the middle of nowhere. “..There is no way an earthling could be that strong. Absolutely not.” - he thought to himself, narrowing his eyes slightly.
Anyway, the Saiyan took a deep breath and decided to approach him even if he felt quite awkward. “..Hey, who.. who are you?” - he asked, not really sure if there was anything else he could say at that point.

Humans could reach incredible levels of power; it just took an enormous amount of determination, training and willpower. Every human had the potential; it all just came down to how badly they wanted it and considering Beryl’s current state of power, he wanted to get stronger very, very badly. Once Cornatto came into view, Beryl looked up from his datapad and turned towards the incoming hybrid – dark-brown eyes hidden behind a pair of stylish shades.
With Cornatto’s built physique, black eyes and spiky, black hair, Beryl guessed that Cornatto was either a full-blooded Saiyan without a tail or at least half-Saiyan. Dark, unruly hair and black eyes weren’t Saiyan-exclusive characteristics, but those two things alone, along with the presence of a furry, brown monkey tail, was how Beryl identified Saiyans and their hybrids. Beryl also made notice of Cornatto’s ki signature. It was notably powerful – definitely many steps above the average Saiyan. Plus, there was no telling what the stranger’s true strength was; after all, it was possible that he was suppressing his ki (which he was).
The question Cornatto presented was a simple yet unexpected one. “Me? My name’s Beryl,” the dark-skinned human answered. “I’m just out doing some surveillance for South Capitol to make sure that everything’s clear around here.” There was no visual indication on Beryl’s being that he was the leader of the Galactic Patrol; however, Cornatto would be able to see the Galactic Patrol’s insignia on the datapad’s screen. That alone would be able to incite some questions. “Why do you ask? I hope I’m not trespassing,” Beryl said, frowning in concern.

The Saiyan looked at the stranger in disbelief, he had no idea there would be anyone with such power even if he didn’t even know if he was the strongest. Though, it didn’t matter if he was the strongest.. he was definitely powerful. His attire didn’t really suggest anything on his persona, it was pretty much casual. Cornatto was quite curious, he would never expect anyone that powerful being dressed like that. The Human wasn’t overly muscular but he could tell he was definitely in shape.
He folded his arms, listening to him curiously and he couldn’t help but feel like his name sounded familiar, he had definitely heard it around but he couldn’t remember where to be precise. Then, he leaned closer and took note of the Galactic Patrol’s symbol, his eyes widening slightly. “..Beryl.. Didn’t Gnash mention his name once? I’m pretty sure he did..” - he thought to himself.
He looked at the dark-skinned Human more closely, narrowing his eyes slightly before he shook his head slowly in response to his question. “No, no. Uhm, you’re in the Galactic Patrol or something? The one Gnash, a Namekian, is in?” - he asked in mild interest. He could remember Gnash talked about how Beryl had some kind of important role but he didn't really care about that, still the green man didn't really mention anything of the dark-skinned man's power.
“Either way, I have a request..” - he paused for a brief moment. Even if that human was Beryl, the one Gnash talked about, there was something much more important; his power. As much as he tried to shrug the matter off, he couldn’t ignore it.. not at all. “..Fight me.” - he told him with a firm tone of voice, Beryl could probably tell how serious he was just by looking at the Saiyan in the eyes.

“Gnash? I know him. I was the one who actually managed to recruit him when I was on Namek investigating the Moori Capitol incident,” Beryl answered, still remaining as professional as always. “He’s a very strong fighter with a lot of potential, but he’s also level-headed and composed as well. He’s definitely going to go far as long as he keeps his training up, but I could say that for a lot of the current Galactic Patrol recruits.” Core, Samba, Kaito and Belle were some names that came to mind. “But yes – I am in the Galactic Patrol. I’m actually its leader.” Beryl rubbed his cheek. “But I’m not anything special.” There it was – Beryl’s infamous modesty.
Cornatto demanded a fight, and Beryl stared at him, a bit taken off guard by the sudden request. However, he should’ve expected it; people wanted to fight him left and right. Hell, Beryl had many people gunning to be the first one to best him in a fight while he was using the full extent of his power. “Uh. I guess I can spar with you. Hold on, let me put this away.” Quickly, Beryl typed in a few more sentences onto his datapad before pressing a button on its side. It shrunk into a “collapsed” form – small and portable enough to be slipped comfortably into a pocket. Beryl stuffed it into his right pants pocket before taking a few steps back from Cornatto to give him the room that he needed. When a Saiyan wanted to fight, there was no saying “no”.
“I might need to warm up a little bit, so I’m sorry if the spar starts off a little slow.” With that, Beryl adopted a very simple, basic stance. It was a very sharp contrast from the usual intricate, traditional martial arts stances many fighters used. “You can have the first move.”

The Saiyan nodded his agreement in regards to what Beryl said about Gnash, he couldn’t deny any of it, it was pretty much true. Gnash was very strong, not as strong as Cornatto was but he could reach heights even higher than him and his attitude even better. The Saiyan had saved him from a demon time ago but he was entirely sure he could handle himself quite well considering how much he improved after he came back on Earth. Even more interesting was how Beryl introduced his role in the Galactic Patrol, he couldn’t help but be surprised, he was in front of the man who was highly admired by his big green friend after all.
The man’s statement on how he wasn’t ‘anything special’ made the Saiyan narrow his eyes slightly, it was quite the opposite in his opinion. “..N-not anything special? He must be trying to play nice, because if there are people stronger than him..” - the mere thought was quite concerning for the Saiyan, he frowned and looked down for a brief moment before he looked up to Beryl again. "I see. I am Cornatto, a friend of Gnash." - he told him.
The Saiyan took a few steps backwards, making sure there was a certain distance set between the two. Then he assumed a stance himself, retreating his dominant side and raising his left fist above his eyes. He bent his dominant leg and clenched his other fist tightly. “Very well then!” - he exclaimed.
He would stare at Beryl blankly for a brief moment before sprinting forward, launching himself at Beryl with his fist ready in the attempt to land a blow on his face. It wouldn’t be any kind of elaborated move, just one blow to let the fight begin.

So, Cornatto and Gnash were friends? That was good news; if Cornatto got into the Galactic Patrol, Beryl would make sure that he’d give the option for the two buddies to work together. Friendship fostered good teamwork. However, that would come later. What Cornatto wanted now was a fight, and Beryl felt obligated to give him one. Besides, there was no saying “no” to a Saiyan who wanted a fight. Cornatto stood there – a blank, seemingly thoughtless expression on his face. Suddenly, he lurched forward and attempted to sock Beryl right in the face with a straight punch. The Saiyan’s speed and strength was impressive and were Beryl an average fighter, he would’ve gotten his lights knocked out with that single blow alone. However, Beryl wasn’t an “average” fighter at all and as soon as the punch neared his face, Beryl’s right hand lashed out to grab Cornatto’s fist by the wrist. The movement was blistering fast, so quick that Cornatto wouldn’t know what was happening until it was too late. A millisecond later, Beryl aimed a left-handed palm strike right for the center of the half-Saiyan’s chest. If it connected, Cornatto would probably fall to his knees from the pain alone. A white-hot sensation would spur within the gi-toting warrior’s chest; it would feel like he literally gulped down a bucket full of molten hot lava. However, the actual physical damage would be minimal – Cornatto would still be able to fight just fine after he got over the pain and all. Beryl waited patiently, hands at his side. “You’re pretty fast,” he complimented. TECHS USED Breakdown [UT2] When Beryl strikes someone, he does more than just physical damage. Some say that he strikes your very psyche and spirit – that for every strike that lands, a piece of your life essence is forcefully stripped from your body. Whatever the case, Beryl’s physical strikes produce excruciating amounts of pain that can definitely screw with a person’s mind and their will to fight. @orangotto

While the Saiyan was pretty sure to be capable of landing the first blow, Beryl was indeed more than average fighter and he could sense it; much to his own disbelief. His eyes wide open as he caught glimpse of what was actually happening but it happened so fast that he didn’t even realize what was going on, but he suddenly felt an.. unusual sense of warmth? No, it was much, more worse than warmth; it was burning. The Saiyan leaped backwards, falling onto his knees as he held his chest with a hand. He grit his teeth, looking down as he tried to not show his sore expression. It wasn’t actual pain, but something more than that. “Ugh, the hell did he just do.. that was not a Ki-based attack for sure." - he muttered.
Though, he wasn’t going down so easily and he could definitely get through the pain since the blow didn’t really deliver any kind of physical damage even if he could feel it. He let out a grunt and stood up shortly after, looking at him with a serious expression on his face. “You’re.. pretty fast yourself.” - he told him.
“I hope that was a lucky one, else I can’t tell if I can keep it up. He doesn't seem tired at all though..” - he thought to himself.
The Saiyan wouldn’t waste time, he had no idea of how he could beat Beryl but the only way he could learn more of his fighting style was to fight him. So, he’d sprint forward once more and go for a flurry of punches and kicks. While he tried to put as much force as possible behind them, they weren’t really thrown at him in a lethal manner but to perhaps obtain an opening or something like that.
