"How is it that other people's power keep ascending..." The Zoan wondered silently to himself, panting with effort as he had been training for the past hour and a half though he didn't seem ready to call it quits just yet. "But mine just doesn't seem to go up at all?!" With a snarl of anger, the male punched a large rock beside him, squinting his eyes slightly as he punched a clean hole through it and send dust of rock particles everywhere.
"It's maddening. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't become helpless again. That I wouldn't let anyone be that helpless again if I could help it... but how can I achieve that, when I'm not strong enough!?" Samba tore his hand embedded into the rock, not even caring or concerned when it broke into pieces or that his knuckles were slightly torn and the skin was raw to the touch. He had dealt with worse before, this was merely an annoying sting from an insect than anything worth his notice.
"Feh. It doesn't matter. I'll break these chains that are holding me back. I just have to be determined." Samba stared upward at the largest peak that he could find, a determined expression crossing his face as he once more attempted to climb it, with varying amount of succeeds thus far. It was difficult because of the heavy weights that dragged him down immensely, and if one took notice of the many holes around on the floor they'd realize that it wasn't the first time that the Wolf Zoan fell down from a great height, only to start it all over again when he recovered.
His travels to become strong had taken him to Mt. Paozu, it was a really beautiful place filled with mountains and peaks as far as the eye could see, it was sometimes intercepted by rivers and waterfalls here and there, not to mention the flora and fauna that resided in this biome. Though sometimes there was the annoying sound of dinosaurs roaring in the distance, which made him groan in dismay and annoyance.
It was annoying to escape these beasts time and again when he so much as put a foot out into the wilderness. And it was even more so, this time, around because of the fact that he had been using these heavyweights when he had ran -yes ran- all the way over here from the Eastern Lands to start his training. He could easily count two encounters with a T-rex, three with a pack of Smilodons and one with a Pterodactyl (the same one he punched a few weeks ago in fact).
Since he was so piss-ass weak and sluggish with this weights he had to make do with running away for his life. Raining Ki Blast down on them as he ran also helped in making them lose their tail on him. It offered a good workout and to get somewhat used to these heavy weights but it was still a hassle he would have wanted to not get dipped into.
"Ugh. How it is that they got so strong is what I wonder?!" Samba exclaimed in another bout of frustration as he scaled a particularly rocky outcropping, nicking his hands with the jagged pieces of rocks and almost losing his balance in the process, he merely growled at the stinging pain and kept climbing up and up and up. "What drives them forward, Arias and Daika, even Soka, Core, and Kay-El!? It is their past that drive them forward? It is their determination, or perhaps just their will to survive?! Do they crave power, or did they trained until they couldn't even stand?!" Samba yelped as the rock that he held onto shattered under his grip and him plummeted ten feet below before he crashed against an outcropping and flipped over, barely managing to extend a hand and stop his fall.
Samba hid a pained grimace as he slowly regained his composure, that hit against his back had been more powerful than he thought, and if he was anymore weaker than now he had a feeling that it would have driven him into unconsciousness. "Grrrr..." Samba once more climbed without any complaint, it would only be a waste of air and a sign of weakness to him if he started to bawl his eyes out that he lost most of his progress.
And as he continued to climb upward, he continued his rant where he left off. "Do they have something precious they need to protect or someone that they want to kill with all their might?! Have they reached some sort of spiritual enlightenment, or did they just get everything so easy, being born with such power?!" The Zoan gritted his teeth, arms trembling strongly as the heavy weights around his arms made it difficult for him to climb, not to mention just hanging on.
"Gahh! Come on! You can do it, you stupid mutt!" With effort the male kept his ascend, he was about half of the way up to the peak, and his arms and legs were already feeling like they were made of jelly and ready to fall off at any moment. "What drives them forward, darkness!? Or is it the light?! What are they even gonna do with all that power, are they gonna use it for the greater good, for self-gain, to protect those that they care or..." Samba swallowed, his throat was completely dried and every breath he took through his nose were like small daggers tearing at the insides of his throat. He did not want to say aloud what came next, but he could feel his normally suppressed anger rearing its ugly head, it traveled through his veins and made him feel hot all over.
"Are they gonna use that power to destroy everything in their way?!" The image of Arias, and by associating the images of that day back when the Saiyans invaded his hometown passed through his mind. And all he saw next was red. "I... No..." The male looked downward, shadows dancing across his face obscuring his expression. "I won't allow that..." The male looked upward, rage and determination shifting in his green colored eyes. "Never again, you hear me! Never!"
That rage filled his body, no longer was he now running on fumes, but instead, the flaming fires of anger, desperation and resolve drove him forward, and as the energy overfilled his body it started to try and escape from his pores, and with a yell the male zone was covered in a bluish-white aura. "Rrrrrrrggggggggrrrraaaaaaaahhhh!!!!" The newfound power drove his stamina and strength to new heights, and as it did so it awoke something else inside of him, something that he couldn't really describe but could name with one word.
Addiction.
He loved the power, however, short it seemed to be, coursing through his veins, giving him vigor and vitality. He felt like he could do anything, defeat anyone and stand before anyone without a need to fear from anything or anything. He liked this feeling, he WANTED to experience more of this strange addiction, perhaps even do ANYTHING to feel like this all of the time.
The male Zoanthrope realize where his thoughts were going and swiftly pushed them away, and instead smirked with confidence as he found no trouble at all to climb the peak of the highest mountain. And as he finally stood at the top of the world, the male took a deep breath, his chest expanding with the air kept inside, and let out the loudest, most reverberating howl that he could muster.
It was easily heard across from miles, the valley making sure it echoed nicely and was carried away by the winds so that everyone should hear it, and know that he was at the top of the world, and he couldn't be happier even if he tried. "THIS IS GREAT!" Samba joyfully cried out, jumping up and down and even letting out a few punches and kicks like he was battling an unseen enemy. "I love this! This power! Now if only I could harness all the time I would—"
Samba staggered slightly, suddenly feeling really tired and like the world was tipping over its axis. "W--what, what is..." Exhaustion was finally catching up with the male, and every limb felt like it weighed a thousand pounds, even without taking the heavyweights into consideration. "I-- I'm gonna..." Samba staggered back again, his eyes dilating and becoming glazed, white spots dancing at the corners of his eyes as he tried valiantly to stay awake and fight.
But the sudden power up took everything when it left, and let him with nothing. The Zoan tripped against a rock behind him and try as he might he couldn't muster the necessary strength to stop what was about to happen. "F-falling..." He could feel, amiss slowly drifting away into the darkness, how the wind caressed his fur and ruffled his clothes as he fell from a great height. His half-lidded eyes looked at the sunny sky, clouds drifting away without a care in the world.
And strangely, the Zoan smiled a small smile while closing his eyes, feeling content for some reason.
There was a thunderous crash that echoed for miles, and the local wildlife that had been watching the Zoan's training fleed as the earth rumbled and tore apart at the seams. And in the middle of a giant crater laid Samba, looking like he was merely taking a long nap as he snored away his troubles.
Once he was awake he would train again, perhaps, this time, he would try his might against the large predator that dotted the lands, but at the moment, he was dreaming of eating burgers after burgers. Yep, the male couldn't be happier even if he tried.
