Thread PL: 55,454, Heavy Weights on, PL: 13,863 Has a 5,000 PL Guard with her
The height of Mt. Paozu, from the ground, didn’t look nearly as bad as it actually was. The climb had been a treacherous one, full of direct sunlight, rocky ground and narrow paths. Not that Kay-El was ever in danger of falling, more that, since the time she spent wandering the desert after she and Nana crashed there, she’d lost the desire for hiking. It wouldn’t last forever, eventually she’d want to again, but if this wasn’t absolutely necessary to climb this mountain so she could get some training from her new teacher, Mimikku, she’d have declined. With the weights, every step felt slower and slower and she whined for a break or a drink of water or a snack - anything to break the monotony of their stone surroundings and step, step, step. Why they didn’t just fly up she didn't know but Nana said it was good training to walk and that she didn’t want to accidentally miss Mimikku’s place. Her Guardian tracked their progress on the datapad she carried and Kay sighed. Finally having a lead on Pin, she’d be able to find him soon and get to meet him. But in the meantime she wanted to train and be able to impress him. She wasn’t some wimpy half-sister, she’d prove she was worth keeping around. Kay really hoped they became the team she dreamed about and, after taking another few sips of water and eating some of the bread they packed, she resumed climbing. Thinking about training with Mimikku excited her. The Kagami was kind, and so was Lilith, and she couldn’t wait to see what kinds of things they had to show her. Tired of the same old Saiyan tactics, offensive or defensive, it’d be nice to see a fresh perspective on fighting. Knowing the styles others use could mean the difference between life and death some day and she was just fascinated by other cultures in general. Pounce, her kitten, snoozed in her bag. He alternated from walking with them to resting on Kay’s shoulder or to keeping in the shade and comfort of her bag and she envied him just a little for it. Oh, what a pampered life people gave their pets, and she belonged to that group of people wholeheartedly. Having found and fallen in love with the little stowaway right away, they’d survived much together. “ I think we’re just about…” they turned on the winding path and saw the little, cozy looking cabin. “ Here,” Nana finished, and Kay smiled. She ran over to the door, hoping Mimikku was home because she was not making that trek again any time soon if she could avoid it. If not, she’d wait right there in the front lawn until the Kagami got there. Excited, who, her? Naw...surely not.

Mimikku had a suspicion about the young one and her nanny. She figured that it was just a matter of time before they would show up and the training would begin. So she had to do many small things around her home. The first was repair damage she had done the last time she had been there. Having never intending on returning there she thought she had destroyed the home. But the simple cabin was more resilient then she imagined. When she had begun to repair and make certain that her home was ready for the visitors she found it in better shape and it took her less time then she expected.
As the days moved she found herself heading out behind her home and training with her sword. Using it to cut down small limbs from the nearby trees with practiced ease. This would be where she was when she felt a pair of familiar ki signatures approaching her home. This however did not stop her until she heard a voice speak up from around the front of her home. Still wearing her weighted clothing she floated up into the air and past the tree’s that where next to her home. Floating down on the front lawn she smiled at the pair raising her non sword holding hand. “Well you two look beat. Enjoy the hike up here?”
Smiling widely at them she would spin the sword in her left hand as she slid it into the sheath upon her lower back and then wiped her brow. It would be obvious to the others that she had been doing some work around the area.

“Oh this place is cool,” she said, looking around at all the different types of trees. Now she had time to look and appreciate everything, and the girl raised her hand to knock. They didn’t have to wait long, as it turned out. Mimikku, just as Kay’s fist would have struck the door, descended toward the lawn, waving. Kay waved back, smiling enough to show her teeth including the two slightly elongated and pointed canines. That smile, usually reserved for family and friends, meant she didn’t feel self-conscious with Mimikku. “Well you two look beat. Enjoy the hike up here?”
Kay said “No” as Nana said “Yes, it was charming, almost as nice as your cabin.” Despite the obvious work being done, the place was nice and now that they’d arrived, Kay could admit the view was fantastic - just maybe not out loud.
She did like Mimikku’s sword and said as much. “That looks like a good sword,” she said, walking over to Mimikku to give her a hug. As per usual, Pounce meowed from her bag, waking up right when the hard part was over. “You’re such a lazy kitty,” Kay said, not like she meant it and let the cat out of the bag. It bounded off to explore the new surroundings and Kay let him, knowing he’d find his way back to her sooner or later either when he got bored or just missed her. Turning back to Mimikku, her usual burst of questions followed. “How are you? How long have you lived here? Why so far away?”

Mimikku smiled at the pair as she heard Nana compliment the cabin and the walk up after Kay obviously said no to it. Chuckling to herself she looked at the young girl. “Hey just think about this. IF you did not have to do that walk but instead flew here I would be having you run laps around the house for an hour or so. So this is something of a pick your poison type of situation… and thank you. The cabin has held out good for me over the years.”
Nodding toward Kay when she mentioned the sword. To her the sword meant a lot to her but that was a story for the pair for another day as she knelt down to give Kay a big hug. Mimikku turned her head to look down at Pounce as the kitten approached from Kay’s pack. Extending her hand out she managed to give the kitten a brief scratch on the chin before the kitten took off to go exploring. “He will love it up here. There is a lot to do and a lot to keep the little kitten occupied. But yes thank you for complimenting my blade. It means a lot to me.”
She managed to get off her short statement just before the usual barrage of questions for her from Kay. Mimikku just laughed lightly as she motioned to a nearby set of chairs. Walking over she took a seat on the stump next to the pair of chairs. “Well I am doing well. Rather busy with life and trying to mend bridges that time burnt with my daughter. As for how long I have lived here… Well I think it is twenty nine years as of this spring. Lilith built this place on her own for me to recover within and we kind of stayed. As for why so far away…”
Glancing over at Nana she sighed as she collected her thoughts before speaking back up. “Well it is because my husband was a Councilmember on Vegeta. When he was killed I escaped thanks to Lilith. I was heavy with Aina at the time and she brought me to Earth. Putting me so far out in the wilderness to recover was her idea. After she put Aina up for adoption at the Hospital where she was born I lived out here. Spending days communing with nature and working on things on my own. Pushing through all of the emotions I have felt over the years.”
She was being honest as her tone of voice would show to Nana who might’ve known of the council from before the Queen’s reigns.

Kay’s eyes crossed just a little at the thought of running laps for an hour and she wondered which would have been worse. And she hadn’t really said an hour, she’d said an hour or so, which could mean anything at all. Shaking her head she shrugged it off because what’s done is done and they’d walked up the mountain to see her, although she was glad Nana made her do it now, just a little. If she had to pick, she supposed the mountainside offered a less repetitive view.
Ban looked over as the two spoke, taking in everything Mimikku said. The world was a harsh place no matter who was in charge, it seemed, but she did know the time of which the Kagami spoke of and while she held sympathy for what the woman went through to get to where she was today Ban was happy both lived to tell that tale. Or, considering Lilith, all three.
“When can we start?” Kay asked, skipping right to what she considered the ‘good part.’
Nana shook her head and said, “Mimikki, you don’t know how to sense Ki, do you? Try as I might I can’t seem to drill that one into her. I think it’s a wise thing to know how to do...knowing more about your potential enemies, and allies, might just save your life.”
Kay rolled her eyes. She’d tried to learn it, she really had, and Nana thought it was her teaching but Kay was at the point where she just believed maybe Ki Sense was just one of those things she’d never be able to master. As much as Nana though it a potentially useful tool in the arsenal weren’t there others as well? Like mastering that pesky paralyzing tail nonsense or learning shielding. After their last encounter with Mimikki Kay thought a lot about defensive techniques. As much as she wanted to learn offensive ones, too, she wanted to respect Mimikku’s decision. Besides, defense was important, with a good enough defense nothing could touch you...or that was the theory, anyway.

“Tomorrow is when we start Kay. Tonight we are going to celebrate your arrival and have a good evening for the four of us. I have meat for you two and some vegetables for myself as I have not had a chance to go fishing for myself. So we will cook ourselves up a nice meal and then we can unwind tonight.” Smiling at the young girl and her guardian as she turned to head inside of the cabin. Stopping before she entered as she heard Nana speak directly at her. Taking a moment she placed a finger upon her chin.
“I do know how to sense Ki. It was how I knew the two of you where almost here so I had to try and step things up with getting some more wood for the furnace tonight. Despite the appearances it will be getting cold tonight. As for teaching it well it is not all that hard.” Continuing along she entered her home leaving the door open for them to follow her in at their leisure. Though Kay would hear within her head Mimikku’s voice
“So what exactly do you want to learn Kay? I do not want you to be pushed toward things that you do not wish to learn how to do. As learning how to sense ki will be easy to do but I have the feeling you want to learn more things then that right? Let us make a deal for every technique I teach you for defensive styles I will take you a way to fight? Sound like a good deal?” The entire time Kay would hear Mimikku just doing things within her house and not speaking directly at either her of Nana.

Tomorrow. But tomorrow was so far away! She said nothing of the complaint aloud, just nodded and said, “That’s fine.” Perhaps she should be grateful it didn’t start today after that climb, she’d definitely feel the hike the next morning in every muscle, including ones she didn’t know she had. She only seemed to remember those after a good workout, as it turned out. A night of good food, good company and relaxation sounded...well, the first two sounded good but the last part a little boring. Then again, maybe this cabin on the mountain would surprise her.
Nana looked over at Kay as Mimikku confirmed she could sense Ki, something Ban expected but never assumed. For all Ban knew she’d heard Kay making her usual childish raucous way up the mountainside path. Deciding to help out, Ban asked, “Is there anything I can do to help you? If you need any help either in the kitchen, gathering more firewood, anything at all I could do those things while you tutor Kay-El.” The two followed her inside, Kay’s eyes widening once more as he took in the homey aesthetic and atmosphere. This place, she was totally gonna love it there, she could tell. Once inside, Nana asked, “Anywhere in particular you’d like us to drop our things? I wouldn’t want anything to be in the way.”
As they looked around, Kay watched Mimikku curiously as she spoke and that was when she realized the Kagami’s lips didn’t move. The deal, though, the one the woman offered? It was more than Kay had hoped for in coming here and she said, “Are you serious? That would be so cool! And how do you do that...talking in the mind thing? Where did you learn? Can you teach that, too?”

Mimikku smiled when Kay agreed to that the training tomorrow would be a good idea. As she had little prepared today other than some mundane chores from around the house. Despite her seeming lack of readiness though Mimikku had a few ideas on what to do to train the young girl the next day and will most certainly enjoy the training as much as she would. Once inside the home she heard Nana speak up toward her. Waving her hand toward her she turned to look at the saiyaness. “To be honest just mundane things need to be done but consider this something of a vacation for yourself. As I will help keep an eye on Kay so you can try and relax some. Really the only immediate things I can think of would be to start up something to eat for us. Just remember that I cannot eat any meat other than fish and some of the leaner cuts of meat that I happen to not have inside the home at the moment.”
Mimikku smirked at Kay as Kay realized she was speaking through telepathy to her. Shaking her head from side to side. Speaking normally she looked at Kay. “Sadly I cannot teach it Kay. I learned it from a wise tutor who went by the name of Bing-gan. He is a good man and maybe someday you will get to meet him in person. Just right now I do not sense him on planet. So when he returns maybe I will be able to introduce you to him. As to be honest the fact I trained with him has given me the drive I needed to train you. As thinking about the good someone like me could have to others.”
Smiling she knelt down and gave Kay a brief hug. Pointing to the bed in the far corner for her. “That is your bed Kay. Mine is inside the room at the back of the cabin while Kay has one inside the only other room in here that is not the bathroom. If you want the bed moved please ask I will do it for you.” Standing up from the hug and the brief talking she rubbed the back of her head as she hoped she was doing things right as she had never really taken to having many visitors let alone ones that would be sticking around for a long time and training alongside her.

At their hosts simple request, Ban nodded and set to do ask asked. Perfectly alright with preparing any sort of meal Mimikku required. Not a gourmet chef by any stretch of the imagination, what she lacked artistically she made up for with much practice in the past.Skilled enough not to burn, over or under cook anything, she felt confident in her abilities to help in this way. She bustled through to the kitchen and got to work, making sure to have everything ready and perfect for dinner time. -- As Mimikku patiently answered her questions again, she smiled, satisfied with the answers. Well, not really, she still wanted to learn that nifty trick but maybe she’d seek out this ‘Bing’ character on her own or, even better, take her new teacher up on the offer for an introduction. Despite Nana’s concerns over Kay-El not drawing too much attention to herself, the girl seemingly wanted to know everything and Nana couldn’t watch her every moment of every day. As Mimi led her through the place and showed her to her room, Kay-El put their things down since Nana was busy in the kitchen now. “No, it’s perfect! Thank you so, so much, again...for everything.” she said, looking at Mimikku earnestly.

Mimikku smiled at Kay and nodded at her. The fact that the child was willing to listen to her and was so gracious despite her overactive nature made her smile widely. Watching as she moved the stuff into the room she responded. “It is not a problem Kay. You are a nice girl and I cannot help but want to help you and Ban with all of what you are doing. Sadly that I cannot help you with finding your brother but I have a good feeling that you will find him soon enough.” She nodded as the food was finished being prepared and Mimikku walked along back to the kitchen.
{Timeskip to the next morning}}
Standing outside of the house she exhaled watching her breath roll out into the crisp morning air. The morning air chilling her lungs ever so slightly as she enjoyed the feeling within her lungs. Waving a hand as she looked over the crisp dew that covered the blades of grass that surrounded her home. Taking a few steps out onto the grass she inhaled once more as she awaited Kay to come outside of the home. Turning to her when she did so. “Good morning Kay. It is time to get going with this training. Basic training to start off with them we will begin to do some more advanced things. So let us get going.”
Taking off in a jog she would begin the days worth of physical training alongside mental training as much as she would dare push for the young girl. She would meld and change what she was teaching based upon what she wanted to learn. Sadly she would not be able to teach her the neat trick of telepathy as only the kami could teach that and unknown to her the kami was long gone at the moment.

Although she’d fallen asleep full, content, tired, waking up was an entirely different story. Finding the bathroom was an adventure since she woke up so early but didn’t want to bother anyone. Telepathy be damned, she’d figure it out on her own, if she had to. Some day she’d learn it one way or another, but the truth of it was that some things just couldn’t be taught. With a sigh, she went through the ritualistic morning routine before making her way outside. That day was not today, the day she’d master that alternate way of communication, for now she decided to devote all her efforts to what Mimikku could teach her. Everyone had their limits, just like Kay-El seemed unable to learn Ki Sense, so Mimikku could not teach Telepathy.
“Good morning,” she said, “Hope you slept well.” And then they were training, taking off at a light jog and she was glad she hadn’t eaten yet or she might have thrown it all up. That was one of those weird things about exercise, eating beforehand never agreed with her but she felt good if she ate after. Even still, she had a few new tricks up her own sleeve since they’d last met, and still the goal to become stronger so she could not only impress Pin but protect herself grew within the young half Saiyan. Nana was off already, probably doing some fishing or whatever she was doing, but she was gone by the time Kay-El came out of the bathroom. The five year old knew, she’d looked, but that was okay. Today was for training and learning more about her new teacher’s style.

“It is good to have company doing this. Cause normally I am rather slack and I am walking down to the nearby river about this time of the morning to catch the only meat I can stomach. So this is a nice refreshing thing to do. Now Kay I wanted to ask you can fly yes? Cause if you can then we might be taking trips out to the desert so that I may train you inside of multiple different temperatures and conditions.” Mimikku spoke as she kept the jog at whatever pace her new pupil would set. As to her this was just a fun little jog to start off the day before she decided to dive into the heavier things later. These heavier things would most certainly curtail doing a lot of things that Nana would know from basic Saiyan Army training regiment should she return once they got back home.
Though as they ran the slow roar of a river could be heard slowly growing louder. As the pair approached the river Mimikku would stop and point to a nearby collection of rocks. “Here is a fun little spot. You could fly over there Kay or we could take this as a training segment. See that collection of rocks over there? IF you want to train now do not cheat and fly between them I would say just across the river both ways five times and then come meet me on the other side.”
Smirking at the hybrid she figured this might be a bit much for her to do but she was going to be ready in case Kay needed it after falling into the water.

Kay-El couldn’t even come close to imagining Mimikku slacking off, but she felt glad she could help and give back in a small way. Then again, inactivity was as foreign a concept to the five year as trying to understand quantum physics. The only time she really fell inactive was when she slept, and even then her mind usually cooked up some kind of crazy dream or nightmare to make her rethink this whole sleep thing. These days, it was nightmares, memories and feelings and events of the past coming back to haunt her.
She grinned at the question and the patterned, raised image on her back that looked and felt like a tattoo seamlessly split to form wings of blue and green as she took to the air. “I can fly…” she confirmed verbally before settling back down next to Mimikku to resume the jog’s pace. A far cry from leisurely, her smaller legs would have had trouble keeping up with Mimi’s longer strides if the Kagami didn’t set her pace to match Kay’s, and the girl was pushing herself so as not to appear weak or lazy in front of her new teacher. As Mimikku mentioned the desert her shoulders slumped just a little before picking back up again. She hated that dry, desolate, arid, awful place but if Mimikku wanted her to train there, she would and she’d do so without complaints.
As they drew close to a river Kay-El eyed the rocks warily and wished she could just swim across. Always having been a good, strong swimmer due to genetics and also growing up in a port city. Kay balled her webbed fingers down, hands forming fists at her sides in determination. “Okay…” she said timidly before stepping over to the rocks carefully like she thought that, if she got too close, they'd come out and bite her or something.

Mimikku smiled as she saw that Kay took to the skies. It was a good thing that she did indeed know how to fly. It would make things easier when she decided to bring her to the Diablo Desert. Yet knowing this she knew that she was pushing the little girl to her limit cause for every single stride she made Kay was making at least two. :: She will thank us for the training later in life Mimi. So do not worry about hurting her to much as she is a part saiyan. They are tough and resilient.. I mean look at Aina for a perfect example of that.:: Lilith made herself known to Mimikku as they had stopped beside the river. Catching a glimpse of her hand Mimikku noticed the larger than normal webbing. A raised brow was short lived as she could assume many a thing about her but none of it would be right.
Watching as she drew near the rocks she would speak up in encouragement of Kay. “You can do it Kay. It is not as hard as it appears. Not to mention you can fly. The flying can assist you with your jumping. Stop and think about it like this. When you fly you focus on releasing all your ki to propel yourself up and maintain it. With these jumps just try to do a very short burst underneath just your feet as you move along from stone to stone. This is something simple to learn but can be the basis for much stronger things in the future if you ever want to learn more than learn just the basics like this.”
Sitting on another nearby boulder Mimikku would watch Kay closely to see if she would take her advice to heart of it she would begin to work on a different thing. Though if Kay did wind up falling into the water she would be ready to dive in and take care of her should the girl not know how to swim well enough.

The child stared at Mimikku and then at the rocks, at a complete loss. Ki...flying...what? “I don’t use Ki to fly…” she said, nose scrunching up in confusion. She had wings, why would she use Ki to do something she could do without it? Her adoptive father said Kay-El was able to sing before she talked, and fly before she walked. He’d worried at the time she’d never learn to walk and always rely on her ability to fly but eventually she learned to use her legs. How far apart were the rocks, really? The whole concept felt foreign and frustrating to the five year old. “Sorry, I just...have no idea what you’re talking about.” If Mimi were trying to make some sort of analogy, it went right over Kay's head. While mature for her age and intelligent, some things like this were difficult for her to grasp.
Kay-El, with her proud Saiyan DNA running through her veins, hated admitting she didn’t know something but at the same time she couldn’t do what she couldn’t do, right? As a baby she tormented her adoptive parents by getting out of her crib way before she should have been able to climb, merely by flying. A regular menace, the staff made a game of catching her before Wiz or Pea woke up in order to get her back in her bed.
