People crowded and crushed together in the small town Kay-El Coliflo and Nana Ban made their latest, temporary, home. A small tent in their pack all they could afford, sleeping out in the woods, the two relished the time spent in the actual town. Nana found work here and there to make ends meet, and Kay did her usual, running amok and charming all the adults into thinking she’s not so bad, for a Half-Saiyan. Now, though, they looked at the same board as the locals, the one with wanted ads and offers of rewards and tasks needed doing, items needing mending.
But the one centered and free of other, cluttered papers, was the one with a picture of a large Minotaur on it. The fur was dark brown and gleaming, its eyes a blue close to white like the color found in the heart of a fire. Two black horns rose up and curled atop its skull and, even through the picture, Kay-El swore his gaze tore right through to her very soul.
Or maybe she was biased. The beast had, after all, terrorized the town that very morning. And the town was in an uproar. It had stalked in on two legs, trashed a few buildings almost by accident, and then left when driven off by the people. Apparently this wasn’t its first attempt at destroying the town, either. People were going missing, lately - not a lot of people, but a small handful. Enough to scare the rest of them, anyway.
The sound of voices drowned out the world around the five and a half year old who exchanged an uneasy look with her Nanny. They could so, totally take this Minotaur down, right? The reward might even be enough to get them the money they needed for a new ship. Then she could get back to her original mission of finding her brother, Pin, and get off this rock called Earth.
Rumor had it that the Minotaur found some cave to hole up in, so that’s where the two set out to go. Nana Ban, who walked with a cane from an old war injury, the same injury that had cost her her tail, fit in better with the humans. And then there was the Half-Saiyan, Half-Demon hybrid who looked like something out of a fantasy manga. An odd pair, maybe, but the two were an inseparable team, a package deal for now.
“It’s time this reign of terror ends,” said one of the local residents, “Will no one stand against this beast?”
Kay-El took to the air. “I will,” she said, her voice steady and unwavering. She looked around almost in a challenge to see if any of the townsfolk could meet her gaze. If they could, perhaps they’d even be brave enough to join the hunting party. “Who’s with me?”

[Heavy weights on, PL with Heavy weights: 7,335 PL base: 29,342]
This morning was a bit of a mess; Core had fallen asleep under-water, which was already so confusing for him when he woke up since he was used to be able to ‘breath’ when he wakes up, though he didn’t needed oxygen so it wasn’t so bad for him after all. There was a couple of fish poking him, they were probably wondering what was that thing that just appeared near their home and wasn’t moving for the whole time it was there, but when the young Arcosian opened his eyes and started to stretch, the wild life suddenly swim away so fast he didn’t even realized they were there a second before. [Were… the hell am i?] He would think to himself a bit confused as he swam out of the water slowly, ending on the hot sand of a beach on the southern island, he would look around and laugh a bit to himself. [Oh… there I am…] He would think again as he would return in the water quickly to wash off the sand he had picked up and would then way to dry to the sun, liking the somewhat hot sensation on his skin and bio-armor.
Core’s tail would wave around as his senses were slowly coming back to him, but surely. He would widen his eyes a bit when his ki-sensing returned, he would feel a power level he haven’t seen in a while and would smile lightly, it was Kay-El and her nanny, this day was already promising to be fun! He would think to himself with a wide smirk as he sneakily approached the village he was sensing her in. [ How lucky I am, she’s already… talking to the crowd, her back to me, it’s going to be easy~] He would smile to himself, trying to think of a plan.
He nods to himself, yeah, that was the best way to do it. The young Arcosian would nod to himself once to cheer himself up as he slowly flew up towards his friend, suppressing his power level to that of a normal human, he couldn’t blow his cover that quickly after all. If Nana Ban would notice him, he would motion her not to say anything, hoping she would recognize him quickly enough not to blow his surprise. If it worked, Core would stand in Kay’s back and would slowly wrap his tail around her and hugged her from the back. ‘’ Kay! Surprise!'' He would simply say in that moment in a bubbly happy voice, he was so happy to see his friend, he didn’t really cared that there was the whole village in front of them that were previously looking and listening to her, though Core had catch a bit of her speech. ‘’ I’m with you! But… what am I signing for? ’’ He would then ask playfully to his friend, who he hope he surprised enough for his joke to be funny. Now that he knew those 'hugs' weren't something wierd, he decided to greet her with them, since he liked them more than he would probably admit.

Arynx had been sitting in the small town’s even smaller town square. He wore dark sunglasses and hunched slightly, hoping to go unnoticed if only to let people go about their lives in peace. He’d come to this town chasing rumors of a particularly interesting local delicacy - something they called Sweetwater. Arynx wasn’t much of an eater, though he ate when he had to and would make room for interesting or delicious foods. Conversely, however, Arynx loved a good beverage. Though he could go a fairly long time without food or drink, Arynx found himself constantly thirsty, and after a refreshing drink he always felt better than he had before. A side effect of his Zoonamite and Namekian DNA, he was sure. As a result, Sweetwater sounded irresistable. Hydrating, refreshing, and with a flavor that nobody could quite describe? Sold.
Arynx felt a bit bad for the people in this town. As he sat there, downing his fourth glass of sweetwater (which had lived up to the hype), he noticed that they seemed downtrodden. They looked oppressed. Something was wrong. He considered a fifth glass, if only to support a local business in what seemed like a time of trouble. A local man suddenly spoke out, asking if no one would stand up to some...beast? Arynx was confused, but intrigued.
Even more intrigued when a familiar young girl stood up and claimed that she would stand against whatever it was. Kay-el, precocious as ever, was throwing her hat into the ring against some unknown danger. Nana Ban wouldn’t be far behind, probably none too happy about Kay’s sudden championing of some unknown cause. This...wouldn’t do. Even if she were as powerful as her confidence implied, Arynx just knew that if he let a little girl fight some monster without stepping in to help, some asshole would upload a photo or video to the internet and it would just be such a headache. He was so focused on the potential scandal of it all that he didn’t even notice the Arcosian sneaking up behind Kay-el.
Instead, he took his guitar in hand, stepped up onto the counter of the little drink cart he’d been chugging sweetwaters from, and hit the loudest, most rock-hard power chord he could. He pumped the very essence of his considerable rock and roll into the chord, and it blared out from the guitar strings, echoing off of buildings and drawing a fair bit of attention.
“Far be it from be to let you go alone, Kay,” he said, winking, “I’ve got your backs, you and Ban both.”

Alexander gave a small sound as he looked up, trying to remember what he was doing here. His mind was still wracked with pain and so too was his body. He closed his eyes as he stood, resting his hand and his body against a nearby building, his vision swimming as he tried to recall exactly what he was doing here. Since the bamboo forest, everything had been a blur, for him. He had been introduced to the void, through Ayumu, but everything after that was blank. The training that he had endured then had been even more stressful than the raw agony that he'd been introduced to prior. He'd woken sometime later in the forest, alone, and he had no idea where he was supposed to go.
Still, he needed to test this power. He had to know what he brought to the table was stronger than what he'd experienced before. This...void power, this was something that he'd never experienced before. Fudendrenk had taught him how to use his ki, to manipulate it, to change it, and all that in between. Now he was trying to get used to this new energy that Ayumu had introduced him to. Or a lack thereof, as far as the energy truly worked. All of the places 'between' is where he drew that power from. He couldn't think of a better way to describe it, other than the fact that it was the absence of ki. Some sort of strange, mirrored version, like looking at one's reflection and seeing something different.
But testing this power of his became his new necessity, and as such, he had moved from one place to the next, asking to see if there were anything that needed to be done, or if he was to simply continue wandering until he found something on his own. However, after a bit of talking, he did hear from a farmer that there was a town down to the South that had been experiencing some troubles with a large, minotaur-like creature. Alexander wasn't certain how much he bought into it, or perhaps it was simply a bull zoonthrope, or whatever they were called. Living in the high society, he hadn't experienced much of the animal folk, and as such, he was not certain how to refer to them.
Even still, he thought that he might follow along with what they were saying, anyway. In the worst case, he wouldn't find anything useful, but the journey itself would be helpful for him. In the best case, he would find something that he could use to test his level of strength, and see just how far he'd come, and if the gifts bestowed from Ayumu had been something useful, or merely a monument to pain, marked upon his body for eternity. The young man was not sure, but as he moved from the building he was resting against, he realized a small group had gathered around what seemed to be a small leaflet of information, and he was certain he heard them speaking on this beast.
Alexander moved forward. His hair disheveled, eyes sunken in and he looked more than a little gaunt. Even still, there was a light in his eyes. Determination, hunger, excitement...something. "I will join you," he said simply, his hand covering part of his face as he looked at the group. "I need to...test my limits," the man continued, watching them.

The crowd muttered and watched her. No doubt they wondered how they could let some little girl take on this monstrous beast by herself. Feet shuffled, someone coughed and another sneezed, otherwise all remained quiet as everyone wondered who among them would step forward first. Her dark eyes landed on each in turn. She expected the way their eyes widened, their reactions typically spooked or curious. Her eyes were so very, very unlike theirs, after all. People usually got unnerved by that all-encompassing dark blue, there were no 'pupil' or 'whites,' just the color of the sky at its darkest hour.
Her body lurched as some kind of limb wrapped itself around her and pulled. Her elbow started towards its body by instinct alone, stopping just shy of hitting at the familiar voice, ‘Kay! Surprise!!’ Letting out the breath she didn’t know she was holding in one big whoosh, she smiled and turned, tickling the Arcosian after he mentioned helping.
“Core...you scared me!” she said with a smile that reached her eyes. It was good to see him again, especially now when she needed people to back her play. About to explain the situation to the older child, a loud, musical chord interrupted her and she turned to look, the dark braid that matched her eyes falling behind her instead of where it had been on her shoulder.
She felt relieved at the second familiar face that day. Arynx, unexpected as it was to see him there, made her feel even better about volunteering. ‘Far be it from be to let you go alone, Kay...I’ve got your backs, you and Ban both.’ She exchanged a look with her Nanny who seemed even more pleased than Kay, a sort of pride shining in her guardian’s eyes that Kay didn’t really understand but that was okay.
And then it was the stranger’s turn to speak up. Well, not a complete stranger, she’d seen him once before but he probably didn’t see her, sneaking through the window as she had. ‘I will join you’ he said. ‘I need to test my limits.’ It was a sentiment she understood well, having done that herself, recently. A solemn nod in his direction and she let herself fall back down to the ground.
Taking the piece of paper with the picture of the Minotaur on it, she passed it to Core so he could bring himself up to speed with a little reading. “Alright, so we go and hunt this thing and when we defeat it, this town will finally know peace! Thank you, all of you, for being brave…” And with that she and Ban turned to lead the way out of the town and towards the cave the minotaur supposedly called ‘home.’ The path didn’t look too dangerous, just a meandering road through the woods...for now.

When his old friend turned to him with her usual wide smile, Core would smile back the widest he could as he was still embracing his Earthly friend in a soft manner, though he had released his tail from around her. ‘’ Eh eh~ sorry, but I felt like a nice entrance like this would be better than simply flying in and saying hi~’’ He would simply say to excused himself as he finally ended his embrace his embrace, looking at her with a shy smile, he didn’t really knew what to say now, his embarrassment would only be broken by a loud noise coming from the crowd, which Core would definitively recognize and would roll his eyes before turning to Arynx.
Core was not specially glad to see the musician, of course he wasn’t a bad guy, and was rather nice to Kay-El, which was a big plus in Core’s book if you wanted to befriend him, but his music was insupportable in every meaning of the word for his Arcosian’s ear, maybe it’s because the noise were too loud, but it was getting on the child’s nerve at a point that he just wanted his guitar to fall into a pit of lava and never come back, then maybe he could enjoy Arynx’s company… until he eventually acquire another of those things since he was apparently rich.
The next person that was willing to join on the train of totally craziness was a guy Core had never seen, seemingly human, if Core wasn’t really good hearted, he could question his abilities, but it wasn’t the time for those kinds of though, they were about to save a town from something as Core understood from a simple citizen of the town who was yelling in the crowd, already calling them heroes when they had done absolutely nothing, he could also learn people in the crowd freaking out about him, an alien, which was annoying him a bit, but he chose to ignore it, preferring to focus on the happy things that were happening, like the sigh of a new adventure that was presenting himself to him.
When Kay-El gave the picture of the minotaur, Core would look at him carefully and then back at Kay-El with a bit of an amused ton. ‘’ It look like a cow who would be in his brute form! It’s quite funny! ‘’ He would say in a giggle as he passed the note to Arynx, hopping deep within that it would keep his hand from playing that lord forsaken guitar of hell, though Core though it might be a strong and really useful weapon against the beast they had to take care of.
Core would be staying pretty close to his friend Kay-El, not for any reasons he could think of, he was simply enjoying her company, though he would turn to the mysterious man in a hood for a moment. ‘’ Hey you, we don’t know your name yet, I’m Core Stold, what about you?’’ He would ask, trying to break the silence that was well installed already while they were walking through the woods.

Arynx stepped down off the drink cart, a sly smile across his face. He was pretty sure he noticed a few cell phone cameras going off. Take -that-, Hannibelle Evensong, you cotton candy haired hag. As he secured his guitar at his back, he tossed a few zeni the cart owner's way for his trouble, grabbed a Sweetwater to go, and waded through the crowd towards Kay-El and Ban. He smiled at the older woman - she was wearing the jacket he'd given to her. It suited her better than he'd expected.
He nearly lost his smile when he finally noticed Core Stold, the young Arcosian he'd met in the park the same day he'd met Kay. He was convinced that someone had dropped Core as a baby, since he had a very outspoken opinion against Arynx's music. An Arcosian that doesn't like rock and roll? That's like a cow without udders, or more appropriately a bull without horns! Still, even a young Arcosian was a badass Arcosian, so Arynx was glad to see him tagging along. If things went sideways, Core would likely have the power - and hopefully the inclination - to handle it.
Then there was a seemingly random human, so far the only of his kind to step forward and offer some help. He wore a long coat and scarf, clearly going for the mysterious chic. It wasn't a bad look on him, especially considering he knew how to make a mysterious entrance. With any luck this dude would be an asset to the team.
"Glad to have you along," he said to the human, "I didn't catch your name." Arynx specifically neglected to introduce himself. He wanted to see if this guy already knew who he was. He acknowledged to himself that this was an enormously egotistical thing to do.
As they began down the path into the woods, Arynx put his hands in his pockets. He was suddenly alive with nervous energy, and his first instinct was to grab his guitar and play a bit, but that might not be the best idea. If they were truly hunting something, his music would be a dead giveaway that they were coming.
"So, does anyone actually know what we're up against? I get that it's apparently some mythical beast, but what can it do? Breathe fire, shoot lasers out of it's eyes? Forewarned is forearmed."

The male did not recognize Kay-El, nor did he seem to have remembered what her energy signature was like either. It was likely due to the fact that he had the recent adjustment of his power, but his face held no recognition as she spoke to him. IT seemed that all of these around him definitely had him beaten in level of power...but that was not anything that he cared to dwell on. He was here to learn his strength, to adjust it, to make it work with what he had been taught from his master. Their power did not impress or frighten him...it simply made him curious.
The two others, however, both looked to Alexander and asked for his name, which he realized that he hadn't given. "My apologies- I'm not sure where my manners are," he responded as he shook his head. He still felt rather...odd, and the presence of the void within him certainly wasn't doing him any favors. His gaze flickered over the two that had asked his name, looking to the girl that had spoken originally. It seemed that she was someone that the both of them knew, which made him an outsider...but that was fine. He didn't have any real need to know the intricate details of these folks, but he was certain that by the end of it, they would all have a relative understanding of what the others could do.
"Alexander Voss," he offered, his gaze shifting between the arcosian and the one with the guitar, and then finally to Kay-El, as he wasn't certain that he had actually given her his name, either. He had picked hers up from the others speaking as 'Kay' and it would likely be how he referred to her if he needed to speak with her in the future. "I am...curious to see what this beast is," he offered, in response to the one with the guitar. He couldn't say that he knew him for certain, but there was something tugging at the back of his mind as he looked the fellow over. He wondered if he might be a musician of some level of renown, given the guitar on his back and his own thoughts trying to tell him something.
At the continued question, he wondered if the guitar-wielder was nervous, or if talking was something they did to entertain themselves. It didn't particularly bother Alexander, but the question at hand was an important one. "I had simply assumed that it was much as Core had stated and that it was a Zoanthrope. If it can utilize its ki, or another talent," he spoke, not wanting to speak too much on his own use of the void, "then it is possible that it might have all manner of special abilities," he offered, though such wasn't exactly helpful. He glanced over to Kay then. "You seem like you know the area better than most- what do you know about it?" he asked the girl directly.

Post by Jax Punchlust on Mar 13, 2016 2:50:10 GMT
Thread PL: 9,853 [Light Weights equipped, PL lowered to 7389.75]
There were many mottos that Jax lived by. "Don't talk to strangers", because oftentimes a friendly punch to their face was an easier way to introduce himself, "Make sure your socks always have both lines and spots on them", so that he'd be as stylish as humanly possible, "Never eat yellow snow", because it was contaminated by Saiyan scientists to try and poison all human beings, but the most important motto he followed was "see a need, fill a need." And this was one hell of a need.
Jax had been visiting the Southern Islands campaigning, as since he had spent all the rest of his funds on a television ad with a rather catchy theme tune, he had no money to give to people to go around spreading the good word of the "J-man", as his recent ad called him. The most recent town he had visited, however, seemed to have had some monster problems. Supposedly, the town had been attacked by some minotaur-like creature early in the morning, and was in a terrible state of disrepair. To Jax, he saw people that needed him, needed someone to help them and their cause. But, more importantly, he saw a group of potential voters, and if he and whatever other "monster hunters" were in the town defeated the beast, he'd be sure to win the vote. A man shouted out for a plea of help, asking for someone to go take-down the monster, as others soon offered to helped.
Swaggering over to where the group of warriors were gathering, Jax made sure to show off his fancy new purple business suit and shades, as he addressed the townspeople.
"Do not worry, citizens of..." Jax tried to remember the name of the town, but forgot, so he just used some placeholder title. "...this not terrible yet pretty mediocre place, I will help you! For yes, it is I, Jax of the Punchlust line, famous actor, entertainer, and your future president. With my groovalicious fighting style I will help these band of fighters, and we will avenge this place! For after we return, the monster will not only be have been spanked...but utterly slain! Huzzah!"
After throwing out a few "VOTE JAX" pins to the crowd, which landed onto the uncaring audience and hit them in their face in a unpleasant manner, and a dramatic removal of his shades and flip of his hair, Jax turned to the band of fighters that united to hunt the monster. Jax threw out a few finger-guns and "pow-pows" towards the group, along with pretending to blow the smoke from his pretend weaponry.
"Hey, groovy babies. Name is Jax. I'm glad to meet all of y'all, and I can't wait to kick this thing's ass. So we ready?"
He threw out a few finger-guns and "pow-pows" towards the group, along with pretending to blow the smoke from his pretend weaponry, hoping it'd warm him up to the others.

" It's okay," she said to Core, about the surprise. And, of course, it was. As they started on their trek through the woods first Arynx asked what they knew about the beast. She really thought about it, what did she know about this thing? What kind of beast was it? Minotaur. How big was it? She knew how big in relation to herself but didn't know how to put it into words. In her brief experience with it, did she see it do anything...magical? She looked over at Nana who hadn't actually seen the monster, she'd been in a store at the time earning money so they could buy food and stuff. When the mysteriously dressed human introduced himself, she smiled, glad for a name to put to the face. When he asked her what she knew she pursed her lips briefly before taking off and up into the air, going up about half as high as the treetops. "It's about this tall...no," she flew up a few more feet. " this tall," she corrected herself. She'd have said more but the arrival of a silly man in purple completely distracted her and made her forget what she was saying. Coming back down to the ground to watch the man make a spectacle of himself, her nose crinkled in distaste. She recognized this man from posters all over the place, and found him even more ridiculous in person. The hybrid's eyes widened further as he went on, and on, and on instead of just helping. Was he more concerned about promoting himself than helping others? As if her nanny read her mind, the tail-less, Saiyan woman turned and swatted Jax Punchlust on the arm. Not enough to leave a mark, but enough to sting. " You watch your language, young man, we've children with us!" she hissed at him, not in the least impressed with his casual use of profanity. " You should be ashamed of yourself." The five year old half-saiyan looked over at the six year old Arcosian, the only other child aside from herself in the group, and shook her head. Nana always got overprotective of Kay-El and now, it seemed, Core. the young Arcosian made an impression on the Saiyan the last time they'd met and as Kay's friend he fell under her protection. Kay-El shook her head and remembered she'd been in the middle of prepping the team which now included Jax. The more the merrier, in her opinion, because the more people they had meant the more firepower to throw at this thing... " So, it's really tall, and really big - and its coat seems to have defensive Ki abilities... I didn't see it do anything truly magical, it just occasionally sweeps in, destroys some stuff, and takes a person...from what I've been told. It didn't get anyone this morning, thankfully..." tag Core Stold

While Kay simply told Core that it was okay, he would answer with a soft smile towards her and would giggle lightly, they barely had met back up and they were going back on adventures, which was a rather funny and sweet relationship that Core was enjoying more and more with her. But the Arcosian was still on his guards, even though it was a relaxing time for him, he couldn’t let himself be caught off guard and would listen closely to everything that would happen in their group, just in case someone goes missing or says something that could be important for them all.
While they were walking, the first to break silence was Arynx, asking what the beast could do, which was a rather good question, but Core though about it for a moment and tilted his head, if it could shoot laser, wouldn’t the town back there be burning, or at the very least one house or something, it was very improbable that he would have this sort of ability, though Core wouldn’t be surprise if, like Beryl, it was using Ki to enhance physical ability, seeing the damage it caused in a single morning to a village, even this small.
When the young Arcosian caught the strange human’s name, he would nod to himself and smile at him. ‘’ Nice to meet you Alexander, you seem nice, don’t be shy to speak really, we’re all really nice in this group, you don’t have to worry about anything!’’ He would say with a wide smile to the human before hearing him talking about special abilities for the beast, really, that what everyone had in mind, were Core was more bent about the adventure and being with friends, he doubted the minotaur was too serious of a treat, or maybe it was over-confidence because he knew not much being could resist his true form.
This walk was rather relaxing until a new ‘companion’ if we may call the group that would join the party. A strange old-looking man who really looked… well… silly… to Core’s eyes, there was no words to use. The man was wearing weird clothes, was running towards them like someone who was late and would arrive like he was an old friend and knew everyone, he was simply confusing Core about human’s gesture, but the young Arcosian quickly noticed that this man was probably not the example to follow at all, he would mostly chose to ignore him.
While walking, Core would realize two groups were formed within theirs, there was the front group, composed of Core, Kay and Nana, there was also Arynx who was pretty close, but closer to Nana than the rest of the group. Then there was the others, the mysterious cool-looking human and… the…. Very less cool-looking and mysterious human who… well… was trying to mix in the group. Core would get a bit closer to Kay and whisper in her ear. ‘’ Uh… is that an ‘earthling’ thing… how this guy acts? Because… he just look like a silly person that’s lost… and… he’s kind off weak too… I doubt he… you know… fits our little group…’’ He would say, looking at her a bit confused, this man was really, really weird to the little arcosian child.

"So we know...basically nothing. Rock on." Arynx shrugged. If nothing else, this would be one hell of an adventure. He could probably write a song about it later. Maybe call it "Minotaurus Hex" or something. He'd figure it out.
That was when a dude in a purple suit showed up, making a spectacle of himself and pretty much forcing his way into the group. Arynx was sure he'd seen this guy somewhere before, but the fact of the matter was that he didn't particularly care. Arynx raised a brow at him.
"We've been ready. Looks like you're late to the party. In any case," he said, turning to Kay, "Any idea where this thing is, or how we can lure it out? Best to get the job done, take a few selfies, and get back to enjoying the whole 'not fighting monsters' thing."
Arynx did his best to restrain himself from saying how he really felt, for Ban's sake. The woman had such a high opinion of him that he dared not tarnish it. He wasn't one to crush dreams. The fact of the matter was that Arynx was torn. On the one hand, he'd been enjoying mostly lounging around and doing nothing on Earth while he waited for Yggdrasil to get their shit together and buy him a new ship. On the other hand, he knew he'd been neglecting his personal training, and fighting an apparently awful monster excited certain parts of him that he couldn't even properly name. The idea of crushing this threat almost made him...hungry.

The male followed along with the others, and was about to speak again, when he noticed a sudden burst of purple offending his vision. He blinked, not quite certain how to respond at first as he saw the man approach. The fellow began to speak, and Alex's gaze narrowed a bit in irritation. This guy seemed to be rather...obnoxious, all things considered. He didn't really know who the man was, but he couldn't discount the fact that, much like the man with the guitar, he felt like somewhere in the back of his mind that he recognized him. However, any chance to call that to mind was immediately cut away by the fact that Alexander found this garish man repugnant. Jax was the man's name, and Alex put the name away for future reference.
He turned to Kay then, giving a small nod as the girl began to describe what she knew about the creature. He gave a small nod then. "Large, and defensive," Alex murmured, closing his eyes as he began to consider tactics against the beast. He did not know whether or not he had the ability to actually handle something by himself, and judging from the rest of the group, they were all quite a bit stronger than he was...but that was no problem. He would do what he could to make up for that with intellect.
He returned the nod to Core. "You as well," he said simply, the creature seeming a little impish all things considered. He was one of those that seemed rather child-like. In fact, Alex was fairly certain that this icer /was/ in fact a child, which made sense considering how friendly he seemed to be with Kay. It didn't seem to matter that they were of differing races, and the fact that they were friends interested him. Such a thing as friendship transcended these racial boundaries. "It's less that I'm shy, and more that I often tend to think my words through before I say them."
Arynx added his own input then and Alexander had to agree a little that the information that they /did/ have was rather...lacking. The creature was defensive, and that alone made him a little worried. What if the creature could simply shrug off everything they threw at it? He wanted to test his limits, but he did not know if this particular creature was something that would best them all...but with their group, he didn't think they would have much of a problem. If they could simply focus their damage in one particular area, they could hopefully bring the beast down.
"If it is a defensive creature, then we should focus our efforts on harrying it. Given that there is hopefully only one of these beasts, then our greatest asset will be our numbers." He adjusted the pack on his back as he continued to walk, his pace almost lackadaisical. His advice was something quite obvious, but he wanted to put it out there.

"Well...that's strange..." Jax looked at the group around him, their faces showing either complete displeasure in his presence or bafflement of it. "Hm, tough crowd. I better try that again..."
Walking up the girl in the front of the group, the one who seemed to be leading this mission and the others themselves, Jax put his hand out in an attempt to shake. Instead, he ended up getting smacked by one of the group members, landing into the ground beneath himself, forcing not only dirt and dust to fling onto himself but also the others, along with his hand somehow slapping the rear of the Arcosian nearby himself.
"Oh I messed up. I really messed up this time." As the dust and dirt in the air settled, Jax sprung up onto his feet, as he ran around to each member of the group getting the dirt of their clothes with spit on his thumb and a bit of rubbing.
"Oh, wowsarooni. I-I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for my choice of words to offend and...oh gosh...I don't know what happened..."
The shock that he had been slapped was almost overwhelming to Jax. The last time he had gotten assaulted so quickly after meeting someone was when he called a Namekian a "Greenie", which he was later told a was derogatory term and might of explained why the fellow decided to stretch his whole arm around Jax's neck. Jax wanted to fight back, and prove to the woman who attacked him that she was messing with more then she realized. But there was more at stake now, he had just upset the group, and if he was to work with the others they had to not think he was the utter worst thing ever. Quickly glancing over his shoulder, he could see the remainder of the crowd of citizens weren't the most pleased with his slip-up. Turning to the Arcosian, he took a handkerchief out of his shirt pocket, and abruptly began rubbing Cold's tail.
"I doubt I can make it up to you, but hopefully by cleaning whatever damaged I put onto yourself I can remove the stain of my sudden slip of my hand. Please understand."
Once the Arcosian's tail and the area around it were properly cleansed to Jax's standards, he bowed with almost the entire front of his body bent over, with the sound of what could possibly be crying heard from him. Considering his apology done, he then stood upright, his face suddenly covered in water that seemed to originate from his eyes, and walked back over the female as originally intended.
"I'm so sorry about that little hiccup, what I was trying to do is come over here and talk to you. See, I wanted to thank you for taking on this task." He turned to the group, making sure the whole group could hear him, making direct eye contact with them all as he tried to hide the fact that he still had tears smeared across his face. "You are all some dope diggity dogs for taking it on yourselves to fight this monster. I swear nothing like that...er...incident a few seconds ago will happen again, and that I will be of use on this mission. You see, I have years of amazingly stylish and groovarific fighting experience, and I'm sure this beast will be of no problem to us when we all unite."
Going into what he thought was an appropriate pose, Jax tried to make the biggest smile humanly possible, as he gave the others a thumbs up. He had surely fixed the issue of the group's approval, how could his dazzling charm not have won them over by now?

Kay watched as The Purple Man fumbled around in the dirt and barely resisted the urge to laugh, exchanging a look with Core. “ He’s a strange one, that’s for sure…” she whispered back to her friend, sneezing as the dust billowed up around them. Idly, as they traveled onward, she listened as the others exchanged words and thoughts on how best to approach the beast, turning as another question got aimed her way. She pointed out to the east. “ There’s a series of caves that way, apparently it’s “lair,”” she made little air quotes with her fingers, “ is hard to miss.” When Jax approached with spit-slicked fingers she made a face and flew up, out of his reach so he couldn’t touch her with his grubby little hands. “Glad to have you on team, mister,” she said, and turned left when the path forked to bring them deeper into the woods. It wound up and down, following a stream, and eventually they’d come to a bridge that brought them to another path leading straight to the caves. The deeper in they went, the more destruction they’d find - broken tree limbs led to whole trees having been ripped out of the ground completely. Some blocked their path and they’d have to work as a group to move them, to or go over or around them when unmovable. But that all was yet to come and Kay pondered Alex’s words. Hopefully only one of these beasts. The thought there might be more never crossed her mind and she looked around, wondering if it had a wife and kids and a life...was it happy? If it was, why would it go around terrorizing towns and if it had been here a long time, why now? Suddenly nothing added up and she frowned. Normally she liked puzzles, but this one felt like it had pieces missing. Big, gaping holes where key parts of the picture featured and probably a corner or two just for kicks. If it had kids, did they have a right to take it away from them? What would happen to them? Where would they go? It’s not like they were innocent puppies that could be sent to a shelter for care and love and forever homes...these creatures were bold and fierce and considered dangerous. As they neared the stream, she looked over at the others one by one, sizing them up. Together, they looked a formidable if ragtag bunch, and if this thing really was taking people they were doing the right thing taking it down. tag Core Stold
