Alexander gave Ninjin a small nod as she spoke of her wandering time. "I had not heard such but I suppose that it makes sense, now that you speak of it," he commented, giving an interested sound as he considered what that meant. Great masters had simply wandered for a great deal of time and honed their skill in solitude, or perhaps by testing their might against others as they came across them and put different parts together to create something new and powerful. He gave a small pause as he considered this. He wasn't at the point yet where he believed that being without a master would be helpful to him. He needed that guidance and that assurance as he found his own way through life.
He wondered, vaguely, if he would ever be at that point, where he did not need any other to rely on, and he was able to increase his own skill through nothing more than his own efforts. It was an interesting thought to consider, and he wondered if, vaguely, Ninjin was telling him that he was at a point where he could do that if he tried, given the woman had claimed to have done this in her youth, which was exactly where Alexander was at the moment. Then again, she'd had some formal training at the Turtle School first. He supposed he did have a tutor in the form of Fudendrenk but he had only spent a few years with the man before his unfortunate passing.
"True. I do know where I wish my path to lead me. I am just not as certain how I will get there," Alexander admitted, moving to scratch the back of his head. "I suppose that will be something that I will find as I go on, as you said," he said, nodding toward her. She mentioned children then, and Alexander once more felt rather...young compared to this woman who seemed to have already lived a full life, perhaps twice as long as his own or even longer. If he were the casanova type, he might tell her that she didn't appear to have lost any of her youth or beauty in womanhood, but Alexander was perhaps among the least similar to that, and instead he focused more on what she spoke that interested him- the power.
"I can understand that. I...do not yet have anything that I dearly wish to protect, but I can understand your reasons," he murmured, nodding slightly at her thoughts. He wondered if perhaps he might one day find something that stirred those emotions deep within, and begged him to be able to protect that which was most dear to him. Yet for the moment, Alexander merely lived for himself, as shallow and heartless as it was. None had made an impact on him that had caused those feelings. He paused, briefly considering Kay-El and Core, but the fact that the strength of those two was far beyond his own, he realized that at that point, they might as well have no guardian at all, considering their power.
As his attempted ki attack failed, Alexander glanced toward the woman as she wished to examine his right arm. "I've no problem with it," he spoke, channeling the Void a bit through it, only so that the strange tattoo-like markings appeared on his wrist and forearm as well, to give her everything that was there to look at. "This is a...gift...of sorts, from a travelling old man," he murmured, his gaze on her. "He went by Ayumu, and in my naivety, I agreed to a pact with something to gain more power and this is the unfortunate result. Or perhaps the fortunate one. I do not know what this power can do, at its fullest. I am still learning more about it, day by day," he offered.
At her sudden question, he gave a small frown. "I have not...but I imagine it would be quite effective at such..." he mused, curious, now.

“Something a friend of mine once told me rings true in this instance Alexander. Where it is your path will lead you matters little. Yet the journey you have getting to that point. That is the most important thing.” Nodding toward him as she raised a finger to her chin remembering the words as best she could. As this was something that an old wandering master had told her. It had been one that she had encountered not far from this exact location about a decade earlier. That man had been one of the few to teach her for nearly and entire year. She learned the original Wolf Fist from him which she was certain she was one of the few that had learned the maneuver from the wandering hermit.
When he mentioned that he understood her own reasoning and that he while not having anything dear to protect would understood all the same. She caught a slight moment where he seemed to space out and think about others. Other people that might bring up things that he would find to fight for in the future. Hoping down she would examine the asked for right arm. Glancing at the glowing runes as he made them glow. Then came his story about how it was he had obtained them. Listening to him speak about him not knowing the fullest extent of the power she nodded at him. “Such powers and pacts always come with a second edge. Normally pointed at the one who wanted the quick power increase. Be careful with using this power as you do not know just what it is it will do to you if you push yourself to hard with it. You could master it and turn into a boon for good… or it could consume you and leave you on the ground helpless.”
She nodded at him as the idea had popped into her head as she had watched him turn the ki into the goop that had eaten away at the rocks beneath them. She smirked at him as she listened to him as the gears began to grind within his head. “Exactly what I was thinking. Try and create a barrier using this power I just saw cause then there is a chance that you can block incoming ki and turn it into that goo that I saw.”
She smirked at him as she took about thirty or so feet away from him. Bringing her hand down she looked toward him with a smile on her face. “I am going to fire a basic ki blast at you Alexander. I want you to try and see if you can recreate the sludge as you had with your own ki.” Taking a moment she closed her eyes as she raised her hand. Using her ki senses she equalized the attack to what she felt from Alexander and fired it off toward him {{Power Level of 35,000}}

The journey was more important than the destination. It was something that Alexander had heard before, but in this case, he wasn't sure that such applied to his particular situation. Granted, he did not know whether that would be true or not. He felt as if this power that he held in his arm was both the journey and the destination, wrapped up in one. The path he would walk would decide what destination he would arrive at. Or perhaps, the destination had been decided and he merely had to find out how he was going to arrive at that destination. It was wasn't an easy thing for him to digest, and in any case, it seemed like he had almost no say in the matter. The power that he held in his right arm was enough to make him wonder just how much control he actually had over his life.
"I suppose that's a fair point," he responded, nodding toward Ninjin at her words. "I will have to see if my journey takes me toward the destination I can see, or if it will go off on another path," he murmured, not wanting to worry her too much with that sort of talk. She'd showed an interest in him that no other had, and for that, he felt grateful. It was interesting to see someone take that much of an interest in someone they'd barely met but she had walked him through forms of her style, even if they were the basics, as well as try to teach him some of her advanced techniques. Granted, he'd ultimately failed at it, but the fact that she'd taken that time out to try to teach him was...nice. Different, and outside of his understanding, but nice all the same. His gaze flickered over to her as she moved to examine his arm, curious as to what she thought.
As she spoke, he nodded. Well, she knew about as much as he did, not that it surprised him. The only one that might know more would be Ayumu, but the old man was gone, at least as far as Alexander could tell. He hadn't been able to track the fellow down at all, and due to that, the power was growing of its own accord and he was just following along with it the best that he could. "That's about all that I've got figured out, too," he admitted, giving a small frown. "Hopefully it's something that I can master. I would rather not have it turn on me, as it did my ki just now. But that's another matter entirely. I need to determine just how far it can be pushed before it starts to push back," he said, giving a small sound of thought. The second edge would cut him, it seemed. He didn't have much choice- it wasn't going away any time soon.
At her words then, he blinked, glancing at her. "All right," he offered, not entirely certain what she was planning to do. He kept his focus on the Void, letting it fill his right arm and swarm around him, forming into a dense cloud of ephermal energy surrounding him. As he did, he watched as Ninjin strode away, and he watched with some curiosity as she began to charge some energy, announcing that she was going to try and shoot a basic ki blast at him, and she wanted him to block it with this. It was an interesting test, to be sure. It might work to devour her ki much as it had his own...or perhaps it would do something else entirely- he'd just have to find out.
"All right. Ready," he called out, giving her the go-ahead before she fired the blast toward him. He presumed that she had calcluated it to keep from bowling him over, and indeed, as the blast struck his arm, he could feel the potent force behind it...but it did not flatten him. Much like before, the ethereal energy rippled over the ki blast as he caught it with his shielded forearm, the Void reducing her ki to the same grey liquid. It fell to the ground once more, deepening the hole that it had fallen in prior, and he gave a small grunt as he shook out his arm. That had stung a bit more than he'd anticipated, but he was unharmed.
"It seems that your hypothesis was correct," he called, giving her a return smirk as he shook out his arm again. "I wonder if I could still keep it restrained enough to replicate your previous technique, or if I'll have to come up with something...different," he spoke as he once more tried to combine both ki and Void together into a spiral attack. He focused his will into keeping the Void separate from the Ki, to try and bind them differently. However, the only result of this was a point-blank explosion as he lost control of the Ki portion, and he grunted as he stumbled back away from the impact, wincing. "Ow," he murmured, his hands numb from the proximity.

“I find that seeking a clear destination can sometimes be the most boring of adventures. I will safely say that when I met my husband it was more of a sparring partner at the start of everything. We sparred a few times and then one night I had a rough day and he comforted me. We found out that we had a lot more in common then just our combined fighting prowess and styles. We began to build a connection and well we have a pair of lovely children to show for it Alexander. Time has a strange way of obscuring paths we once saw crystal clear and showing us a better path just off to the side of the other path. Our decision is really if we are going to head down the cloudy or clear paths. Well that is how I see it at least.” Speaking softly and thoughtfully as she had finished examining his arm. Letting out a light chuckle at herself as she realized just all the words she had spoken and the reasoning behind them. To her she sounded just like a few of the old masters she had known that wandered the planet a few years earlier. Listening to his words about him trying to learn and master the abilities of the hand she knew that this was something that he had as a trump card as it where. If he could and would learn how to bend whatever the power was inside the markings on his arm he could counteract a lot of ki users with its power.
Her reaction to the test was a resounding yell of support. She was ecstatic that her thoughts where proven by how he did this with ease. Walking back over a few feet as she noticed him beginning to test out a new twist on the original technique he had tried. She felt the ki about to explode the moment before it did so she turned her face and shielded herself as best she could as she felt pebbles fly past her and bounce off of herself. As the dust settled she heard him otter out an Ow and she could not help but laugh lightly. “Well at least you tried it again. Though this was a different result. So that is something is it not? Sure the explosion was something unexpected but it was a new result of the test. So progress.”
Walking over the rest of the distance she stood off to his left as she glanced at the hole. It was rather impressive what his ki was capable of doing. “Well one advantage to this. You can never get handcuffed or held against your will. You could just focus your ki and let the marking create the goo and get you out of whatever is restraining you. Though could you find a way to suspend the goo within a shell of ki or in a telekinetic style bubble then somehow toss the goo onto a target?”

Alexander gave a small sound as she continued to explain her point of view. Perhaps she was right. Knowing exactly where to go and what steps to take was...boring. It didn't really let you explore yourself, or learn anything new from how you would make your way through life. Everything would be laid out to you and you would know exactly where that path would lead you. You would have no mystery in your life, and you would easily be able to see where your life would end up. And if you followed that, perhaps you achieved what you set out to do, but there could be another place off that beaten path that would offer you something a great deal better. Or perhaps not always better, but different and more fulfilling.
His gaze moved to Ninjin, then, curious how much she was speaking about herself, here. Her own path had likely seen herself walking the path of a martial arts master, rather than a mother. She likely would have managed to get a great deal more powerful if she hadn't walked on this path...but he could tell that she was genuinely happy whenever she spoke of her husband and her children, leading him to realize that she was far more fulfilled and happy with the life that she had ended up with, rather than the one that she could have gone. She could have not pursued a relationship with her husband, and instead continued to be solitary, pushing herself and training her body far more, possibly ending up as the current Master of the Turtle School...but instead she had not.
"Had you followed another path, then it's likely you and I would not have met here today, and have you passing that knowledge onto me," he spoke, giving a small sound of thought. "Time is strange, as you said," he offered. Time was indeed a fickle thing, and it was so transient. If a single choice was made differently elsewhere, it seemed like the number of changes that could come about because of that was absolutely staggering to consider. He wondered if perhaps if Ninjin had decided to stay solo, and then without this talk, if Alexander might have another path to walk. He would walk that clear and open one...and not the one that was still shrouded in mystery.
He was amused that she had been so excited that his Void had been able to cancel out her attack. His arm had still stung from it afterward, but the ability that he had this was...interesting, to say the least. He didn't really know how he was going to utilize it, but his mind had already began to consider. At her encouragement at receiving a different result on his attempt, he nodded. "It very well might be something that I can do, but it's going to require a great deal of practice. It's like trying to mix fire and water, and not produce steam or smoke," he murmured, frowning. He didn't like having something that wasn't just immediately working for him, but it was something that he'd have to work for.
At her words, he nodded. "I had been considering it. Telekinesis is...not something that I've ever had any talent in. Fudendrenk had some control over it, but I did not. But what if I...combined what's happened with both of the combinations?" he asked, mostly to himself. He paused, facing away from Ninjin, not wanting to accidentally harm her as he began to take small amounts of both ki and Void, creating some of that grey liquid. With a small breath, he separated out the void and ki, and created that same small explosion that he had before. It sprayed a great deal of the liquid out in front of him, decorating the ground, though the burst shot upward as well. Alex let the void cover his right arm, using it as a sort of parasol to guard himself from the falling drops. "That could have been better."

It truly was amazing what the different paths of life would take someone. As she was always assured she was going to do nothing but become a master of a martial arts school. Yet here she was with a family, happy husband, and still wandering to train and helping out new people she met across the planet. All this assistance she was giving to Alexander was something she felt that she did not want any sort of thanks for as she was just doing what she felt was right to do. Even if Alexander passed her in strength and pushed her aside someday she was but a stepping stone for many toward greater things in life. “Aye time truly is a fickle mistress. We cannot control her and we are all slaves to her never ending clock… and yet we make the most of the time that we have. Like me I have used time to begin a family and begin the process of passing along everything that I know to the next generation. Be it like this with you Alexander or when I was the Turtle Hermit. Always going out of my way to teach others.”
Giving him a reassuring smile to show she was being serious that she actually enjoyed what was going on. She backed up a little bit as he began his manipulation of the grey goo he created. At first to her eyes it seemed to be working til it exploded out showering the area in a fine mist of the goo that sizzled on the rocks around the pair. It seemed that he managed to guard the both of them with his single movement. “Thanks for that… I can see that is going to be difficult to get together and master… Yet I feel that it will be something that you can most definently use in the future to your advantage if you pursue it Alexander.”
As she finished speaking a soft ringing would be heard and she glanced down at her pocket. Grabbing a small phone she put it to her ear and had a quick conversation with someone before hanging up. “Sorry to cut this short Alexander. But it seems one of my little ones has decided to become a handful and my sitter is overwhelmed. So I must be heading out of here.”
Shaking her head from side to side she chuckled softly and extended her right hand toward him. “Til the next time we meet Alex. May you walk with Kami at your side.” After shaking his hand she would take a couple of steps away from him and her ki would flare around herself the orchid ki flowing around her for a moment before a splash of golden energy would appear as she took off into the sky and she took off toward the Southern Islanda and her home.
{{ Fun little thread. Hope it helped Alexander some. Gimme PL With Med weights please.}}

He gave Ninjin a small nod as she spoke about Time, echoing his thoughts exactly. “The clock marches on endlessly,” he commented at her words. He wondered if one day, he too might have a family of his own, much like Ninjin had. He would have to wait and see- she had wandered for several years before anything like that had come to pass. He had just started his own journey, and as she had said, he could take the clear path that he knew where it would lead. Or...
His gaze drifted down to his right arm, the man clenching his hand into a fist as the ephemeral energy flared up around it. He could take the path that he had no idea where it would lead. “Well, hopefully I come across more like you in the future. I feel like I could use all the guidance I can get,” he said, giving a slightly forced smirk as his gaze flickered back down to his arm. This was something that he would need to find out where it would end. He would need to follow the path to its end, wherever it might lead. Or perhaps, he would instead simply wander aimlessly across the various paths his own life might take. Whatever might happen from here, he would find out.
As he shook his arm out after the acidic grey energy rained down upon him, he glanced toward Ninjin. “Yeah. I really like the concept that you provided to me,” he said, his green gaze flickering back down to his arm before it lifted back to her. “I just need to learn how to best...combine the two, in order to make the best use of the concept,” he spoke, nodding to accentuate the point. The Void seemed powerful, from what he had used so far, but if he could combine that with his basic ki, then the attack itself might be something virtually impossible to guard against. Granted, he'd need to do a little more training and focus on making it the best technique he could...but that was in that future.
His gaze moved to her as the phone rang, and then away to give the woman her privacy. He had been contacted by his parents only a few times by phone but no one else had his number. He supposed that being in charge of multiple small creatures that couldn't fend for themselves would very easily put him a bit higher on the number of times he'd be contacted. As she finished, he gave a small wave of his hand. “Not at all. You've provided me a number of thoughts and ideas for the future. In this short moment you've helped me tremendously.”
He quelled the power of the Void in his right hand, before he extended it out, shaking her hand firmly. His gaze looked to follow her as the woman took to the sky, surrounded in the aura that she'd shown him originally. As she vanished from sight, the male glanced back down to his right hand. “I suppose that I will follow that advice. I had planned to just...leave this Void behind. But it is useful. And the path that this leads to is one where I have no idea where it will lead...and why take that clear and open path when I could see where this one leads?”
Alexander closed his eyes for a moment before he exhaled. He still had no way to fly, but he glanced down at his right hand. He wondered if he could eventually use that to manage such. But that was something for another time.
((It was fun- I was going to ask this post if you wanted to end it, but it seems you read my mind hahaha. You provided a lot of retro-active support for the decisions he's made since the thread started so if you weren't reading the other plots you did a great job guiding him even still!))
