Somewhere in the world, Poka was walking along a cliff-side path that seemed to get more narrow the further she walked. She was on her way to The New Crane School, or at least she thought she was. The half-saiyan female was taking a chance following the directions of a stranger, but she had no reason to doubt humans as she'd found the Turtle school the same way.
Pretty soon Poka was engaged in a strenuous balancing act. The path had become so narrow that she was forced to press up against the cliff-side and walk on the balls of her feet. Of course, she wouldn't have to do any of this if she simply used Bukujutsu and flew over it all, but she thought that - if this was the correct path - it was all a test put together by the crane masters.
"This path was made by Earth's martial artists alright" Poka said out loud with a smile. She was trying to stay optimistic, and tell herself that she should feel privileged. It was what the young one needed considering she'd already been circling the mountains for hours.
Hours...
HOURS...
"But how long is this thing anyway?!" she shouted, and hammered the cliff wall with her fists in frustration.
Though she quickly brought a finger to her lips and hushed herself, it was too late. The mountains were already angry with the impatient child for ruining their tranquil silence. Poka could hear a rumbling overhead, and soon large rocks began to rain down on her, followed by a large boulder that was perfectly placed to squash her into a saiyan-spiced pancake.

Now that Poka had some solid training under her belt, she couldn't help allowing some of her natural saiyan traits to show. Seeing the boulder at first had her shocked, but that quickly subsided to be replaced by excitement, and rather than getting out of the way like she easily could have, she accepted it as a challenge. "Let's just see who destroys who first!" she said to the boulder while lifting her right arm and facing the palm upward. Supporting her right arm with her left, she began to concentrate her ki to the sky-facing palm and shape it into a yellow-orange sphere that hovered a few inches above her hand. "Sokidan!" After shouting the name of her attack, Poka closed her right hand while leaving her index and middle fingers pointing upward. Pointing them toward the oncoming boulder, the ball of energy w=followed their direction and and pierced the rock, causing it to break apart and send smaller pieces falling toward its attacker. "You won't get past me!" Rather than letting the rocks fall around her, Poka waved her two fingers about like a magic wand that controlled where her ball of energy moved. It struck each rock, causing smaller rocks, and eventually mere debris before she finally let it disperse. Exhaling, Poka let her arms down at her sides to take a breather, but just as she started to relax, she heard a crack beneath her feet. "Eh?" Before her brain could make sense of what was going on, Poka was suddenly falling. All that weight shifting had been too much for the section of path she was standing on, and it crumbled beneath her feet. Forgetting she could fly for a moment, the child screamed as she plummeted toward the ground, but luckily she was able to stop herself just before becoming a mess at the foot of the mountains. Gently lowering herself to the ground, Poka fell to her knees nearly in tears. "I failed. It was a test and I failed! I don't deserve to train at the Crane School. I should just go home and let my father beat me!"

Minutes later, Poka dried her eyes with her sleeves and gathered herself to her feet with a look of resolve. She stared up at the mountain, accepting its challenge once again, and began to climb the cliff-side. As she made her way back up to the broken path, she wondered what the students and masters of the Turtle school would think if they saw her crying after falling off a mountain. It was one thing to be knocked down by your opponent, but when that opponent is an inanimate object, well, that was another matter altogether. She took comfort in the theory that "all things on Earth have a spirit", though. It was one of the many beliefs of a master. She couldn't recall which one however.
"Fall down nine times, get up ten" Poka said to herself, reciting yet another one of a Turtle master's prophetic teachings. "That's how it went, wasn't it? I swear the number eight was in there though.. Whoa! If I don't focus, the mountain's going to throw me off again!"
Poka looked down at her left leg that hung after its foot-hold came apart. Indeed, if she didn't pay attention to what she was doing, she'd drop once more and have to start all over again. As always, she could simply fly back to the path, but acting as though the Crane masters were watching, she accepted the climb as a part of her training.
"If I keep this up, I'll be able to flex like- Whoa!" Focus...Focus..

Eventually, Poka came upon a small cabin. It wasn't on the same mountain as her when she noticed it, which made her grind her teeth, but rather than walking all the way around she leaped over to it.
"That was all my muscle strength, no flying!" she assured whoever might be looking and listening...which was no one. The cabin lacked the vibrancy of a dojo, and ultimately looked abandoned. Looking rather defeated, Poka hung her head, not knowing what to do. Perhaps she would have simply turned around and left had she not felt the sudden spark of a rising ki. Curious, Poka moved closer, but before she could reach the door, she was startled by a shout that violently changed the direction of the wind - the powerful kiai of a martial arts master.
"A-Amazing.." Poke lowered her arms. She hadn't even meant to cover up, but her body moved of its own volition, protecting itself from what was assumed to be oncoming harm. "This must be the right place. There's definitely a master in there!"
Running over to the window of the cabin, Poka peered inside. There, a bald man stood barefoot on the wooden floor practicing a kata. Apparently he didn't like being watched though, because when he heard the little spy gasp and laugh with excitement, he turned to look at her with a more frightening angry expression than any she'd seen before.
"Taiyoken-!"
"Eh? Taiyo?"
As Poka stopped to ponder the word, a bright light flooded out of the dojo that blinded her in an instant. While she backed away, she could sense the man's murderous intent as he leapt toward her and began striking the girl's body without warning. As she tried to protect herself, Poka also fought to open her eyes, but she couldn't see a darn thing! Finally - only because it ended the assault - she was hit in the face hard enough to send the half-saiyan tumbling, which resulted in her falling off a mountain once again.
"WHAT THE HEEEEEEEEEE-!"

"...-ck...ugh.."
Poka sat up with a groan and rubbed her head, taking a moment to remember what happened. Little birdies swirled around her, further distorting her blurry vision while she tried to figure out where she was now - at the bottom of the mountain. "Crane fighters are pretty strong" she winced, but as the pain subsided she managed a grin. Though she'd been knocked down by that surprise attack, she wasn't knocked out - or killed - like the man had intended. He was good, but perhaps she was better. The saiyan part of Poka wanted to find out.
Topside, the meditating Crane practitioner opened his eyes wide with shock. He felt a ki source and quickly ran out to find Poka climbing back to the top of the cliff. Apparently she hadn't given up on the idea that this was all a test.
"You must be the gatekeeper" she said with a smile, dusting herself off at the same time. "I'm Poka, a student of the Turtle School. I'd like to learn the Crane style too, so if it means getting through you then I'll be your opponent!"
Finishing her words, Poka snapped into a fighting stance. Angling her body away from the crane, she bent her knees, cocked her right fist at her hip and held her right hand at the ready. The crane fighter nodded to her, then took a similar stance, but with both hands raised at head height.
The two stared each other down for a moment, both searching for the best way to start the battle. Seeing an opening first, Poka charged, which created an opening for the crane who charged as well. Each of them attacked and defended, covering their openings and striking where they thought they could score a hit. The two appeared evenly matched in the beginning, but Poka soon began to realize that the other combatant was quicker, however he took more risks when attacking. Feinting with a rather telegraphed punch to the crane's head, Poka dodged a counter head-kick and slipped into close range, landing a solid elbow strike to the other fighter's sternum. As he began to go down, she finished him off with a double chop to both sides of his neck and a roundhouse kick to the face that nearly turned his head 180 degrees.
"Yes!" Poka gave a slight cheer, but kept it humble so as not to insult the other fighter's pride. Walking past the fallen crane, she entered the cabin and looked around. What she found was furniture, kitchen appliances, and old newspapers. This was not The New Crane School, or any dojo at that. It was simply the home of a hermit.
"Why you! But I-! Argh.."
Not yet sure where to direct her anger, Poka took off into the sky. She was upset, but the whole thing had been an enlightening training experience. Unfortunately there was nothing more to learn from an opponent she already beat. This adventure was over.
