A red robot floated in the sky. Namek was frozen- petrified. This powerful beast wanted one thing, the thing of legends. Dragon balls. He thought of the dragon balls, the mythical stones that could grant any wish. So many selfish villains- the dragon balls were a curse, nothing else. Now this curse would kill them all. He stared, frozen with all of his planet. Why were being so strong. They were basically gods! Power, power was never good. He had seeked power, lusted for power. And he had found how that had gotten him. He scowled. Power caused this. The dragon balls, power. So many sins of life, it was imperfect. He wanted to do something. To fight back! Yet he couldn’t. His fists were clenched, he felt the power in himself. But he couldn’t do anything. The warrior clan- the warrior clan was weak. How could they defend Namek when a single outsider made them all quiver in fear. He was weak, he needed power. No! He wanted to slap himself, angry. Why could he think that way. That path- it lead to darkness. He was pure now. He couldn’t let himself think this way. He was wanting power, cursing the dragon balls. He had to calm down.
His eyes travelled to his fellow members. This was supposed to be the warrior clan’s strongest. But they stood there. The leader stared, his eyes wide at the menacing figure in the eye. His mouth was gaping, and his whole body was shaking. A small sound could be heard from his throat, sounding as if it was grasping with crawls, trying to climb it’s way out of the almost choked throat. This was their strongest. Namek was weak. Pathetic! He was a warrior clan member and he was nothing. It was hopeless. He was useless, hopeless. This feeling- it turned him to turn, horrified him. But it wasn’t the first time he felt this way. In his eyes, he saw Sullus.
Sullus was an amazing warrior. He had been the best parent possible. And now Paengi was like him. A strong warrior, member of the clan. Together, they could protect Namek. The Silver Warrior was unstoppable! He would protect Namek. There were many people that wished evil upon his planet. None could be allowed to succeed. That was the warrior clan’s duty. To protect Namek, the dragon clan, and the dragon balls.
He smiled, wanting to see his parent again. Suddenly a silver Ki shot up around him, the signature of the fighter visible. He zoomed off into the horizon, slinging away from the ground. Wind rustled around him, the thrill of flying exciting him. He was a warrior, a fighter. Protector of Namek, champion of all that is good. He felt no lust for power anymore. He wasn’t entirely sure what had happened to himself that night. It had been odd. The best way to describe it, it had been like his mind was cut in half. But that was the past, now it was time to see Sullus again.
He landed, glad he could see him again? But where was his old man? He walked around, coming into the hut after making sure no one was outside. It was quiet. “Sullus?...” Paengi called out confused. Maybe he wasn’t here? Then he saw it. Paengi ran to the body on the floor. “SULLUS!” he screamed grabbing the body. He looked it up and dead, tears streaming down his face. He began screaming, rage and sorrow filling his body. Dead. Sullus was dead. He looked at the corpse closer, trying to examine it through the water in his eyes. Cuts. There were cuts all over him, like someone had attacked him. Not only that but there were bruises and burns on the body. This wasn’t an accident. No natural death. This was murder. “I’LL KILL YOU!” Paengi said screaming, anger tearing him apart. He burst out of the building, silver aura burning in place. His head snapped around in every direction, frantically searching. The killer could still be close! He had to be! If only he had a scouter, or Ki sense… He scowled, desperation filling him. Why wasn't he good enough. Couldn't he have been here before. But, he wasn't. Paengi was useless. There was nothing he could do. Frozen- not able to save his parent.
He lowered himself from the sky, his silver Ki fading. The Namekian warrior came back down through the hole he made. The body was still laying on the ground. Rage began filling him, but not for the killer anymore. It was for himself. He should've been here to stop it. He was shaking, rage tearing him apart. Suddenly a hand went to his head- to an antenna. Another hand rose up to it, slowly trembling. They squeezed, getting a strong grip on it. The arms prepared, then they pulled. Paengi screamed with pain as the appendage flew off of his head. He fell to the ground on his knees, the pain overwhelming him. He almost began regenerating it, but stopped. No. He would keep this wound. This was the price he had to pay for not saving Sullus. He would bear this injury for the rest of his life.
He sat there. Why were there evils on this planet. Namek hadn't done anything wrong. The Namekians were a good race! Yet someone had done something as horrifying as this. He stood up. He was right. Namek didn't deserve this evil. And it was his duty to ensure this didn't happen! Because he had failed to stop it, Sullus was dead now. He looked around. This was his place to protect. He vowed on that day, to remove the evil that was this killer. He would destroy them!
Paengi stated up at the robot. It appeared no one had gave him dragon balls in time. A massive ball of energy was held above them all. Screaming ensured, and chaos was taking place. They would all die. Despite anything Paengi could try he would lose. He looked up at the robot. A ball of energy suddenly descend upon them. Paengi screamed as his flesh was seared off.
Paengi floated, confused. He had no body. All he was was a floating cloud. Where was he? He gazed around, staring at the massive line of people in front of him. Not even people, clouds. What was going on? He had been on Namek, the robot about to destroy them all. He remembered the pain of his whole body incinerating. But he was still alive. Well, maybe not alive. Slowly he felt himself drifting forward, as clouds moved. He wasn’t sure what was happening, but he felt like this was going to be boring.
After what felt like an eternity he was finally approaching. ”Yea, yea, yea, NEXT!” the man at the end of the line yelled. Paengi drifted forward, looking towards him. ”Okay, let’s see. Paengi, namekian, warrior class. What are your biggest acts of good and the biggest act of evil?” the man said. Paengi opened his mouth to talk- except he had no mouth. Maybe he just had to think it.
Suddenly time froze, seemed to stop. Then it felt like his ears were being torn apart, as everything slowly moved in reverse. The man asking him the question’s mouth moved in an odd way, not resembling words. Then it got faster, and Paengi felt himself being sucked up from behind. Everything was a blur, and he wondered if time was resetting, rewinding itself and hoping for a new outcome. High pitched screaming filled his hearing and everything went black.
Paengi’s eyes opened- his actual eyes this time. Was he alive? He looked down at his body- not a cloud. He broke out in a grin, yelling with joy. He wasn’t alone either. All over Namek, namekians were screaming with joy or staring, confused. They had died. But now they were back. ”Praise Porunga, his son the prophet has gone to earth and collected the dragon balls, reviving us all! Praise the prophet!”* some man in robes was proclaiming. The dragon balls, he thought staring at his hands. They had brought him back. He owed his life, and planet to those orange spheres now.
”Okay, warrior clan members! We need to establish what exactly happened. Began scouting for any powers that could have done it. We need to remove all other possibilities before the blaming the dragon balls,” Samuka*, warrior clan leader said. He shot off into the distance, already on the job. Paengi’s silver aura snapped back up, a little sad he couldn’t of enjoyed his new life a bit more. But he was a warrior clan leader. As Paengi shot into the sky, he look at the amazing view this power gave him.
Across the beautiful planet, festivals had already began. He could hear the screams even from here. It was a joyful day, and he knew it would be remembered forever. Perhaps it would even become a planet wide holiday, something to be celebrated. He smiled, glad that his planet had been given another chance.
Paengi let his altitude drop, soaring in just above villages now. He could see the children and families, all dancing in the streets together. Some of the younger ones even stared up at the warrior, their tiny green hands reaching for the sky and him, as if they were going to grab him and fly. Their smiles filled Paengi with joy, and he continued on. He needed to get on track again. He looked around, gazing in the distance to see if perhaps some mythical figure would light the skies, proclaiming they had saved Namek. He wondered if it was possible for the eternal dragon to have came here without being summoned, and decided he would put Namek together again. He didn’t know who it was, but he intended to thank them before he ever went to the afterlife again.
Finally, he saw someone soaring in the distance. Maybe this was their savior! He could thank them himself, and ask how they had done it. Maybe they could teach him, so Paengi could save Namek next time. Slowly the distant figure came into focus, as it got closer and closer. His eyes widened with anticipation before his whole face turned to disappointment. It was just one of the other warrior clan members.
Paengi gave up, and flew back to the village he had seen before. It was a good time to celebrate living again.
