The pod creaked and groaned under the stress of atmospheric re-entry, having been used to travel much further than its intended range. It was the last piece of Captain Ghirash's pirate vessel, The Warglaive. Atmospheric seals had been compromised, and the heat of the friction against the hull was causing further damage to the pod's hatch every second. Hyoza was thankful for the fact that his race did not require breathable atmosphere to survive, but the heat that was quickly entering the pod was making him extremely uncomfortable, and would already have killed many more fragile species outright. The pod's power reserves had been completely drained, and it was unable to slow its descent, meaning the full force of atmospheric friction was currently encircling the vessel with a corona of flames, boiling away layers of hull plating as the spherical ship was rocked by violent turbulence.
One last, gut-wrenching lurch of the ship signified the seals' last ounce of endurance failing, as with a horrific shriek, the hatch was sent spinning away into the upper atmosphere, and the full force of the heat around the vessel flooded into the interior, slamming Hyoza against his seat and scorching his vulnerable form. As his previously-pristine armor was blackened by the flames, the Arcosian mustered up enough strength to launch himself from the wreckage, through the blazing halo surrounding his ship, and into the blessedly cool open skies. Too weak to take further action, Hyoza felt consciousness slip away as he fell amongst the wreckage of his own ship, to the surface of the blue planet below - Earth.
When he awoke, Hyoza found himself laying in a crater at the foot of a mighty oak tree. His battle armor was cracked and blackened from the intense heat of re-entry, and he felt his body covered in dozens of scrapes and bruises. He was annoyed to find his right horn had snapped, too. It would grow back in a few days, but Hyoza was a vain being, and proud of his appearance. The loss of his well-groomed appearance was a secondary concern, however, compared to the challenge that now faced him - surviving on an unfamiliar world. Hyoza first extended his senses outward - searching the forest around him for any powerful auras. He was relieved to find there were no dangers in the immediate area - only unintelligent animals and plants. The nearest intelligent being seemed to be several miles off.
Hyoza was feeling weak after days cooped up in his pod and the beating he'd taken on the way to Earth's surface. He hadn't had a chance to exercise his powers in quite some time. He focused his energy, allowing it to build, feeling the currents swirling around him, forming an aura of flickering, translucent red fire around his alien body. Debris in the area began to lift into the air - the fragile chunks of detritus shattering as invisible arcs of energy lashed out from the Arcosian's deceptively small frame. Once his power had reached its peak (at least for his most suppressed form), he launched himself up into the air, tearing back through the forest canopy and up into the open sky. He could see now the destruction wrought by his pod's arrival - smoke was billowing up from dozens of small forest-fires, and there were signs of damage to trees all around him which had been sheared apart by falling debris. For hundreds of meters, this once peaceful and idyllic woodland had been scarred by his coming.
He began by hurling a few ki blasts into the forest below, watching with growing delight as trees were ripped apart by the explosive forces. Nothing was quite as exciting to him as watching that which had come forth from the struggle of nature reduced to ashes by his own power. There was a certain thrill to the act of destruction, and it had been far too long since he'd had an opportunity to test his abilities to this level. After a few minutes spent wreaking havoc on the local ecosystem, he allowed his energies to dissipate again, heading now to the site of the largest forest-fire.
When he landed, he could see his hunch had been correct. Here were the remains of the pod's main structure. Though none of the interfaces were still intact, the nav-computer may still hold information on its passenger and where it had been. Hyoza did not want anyone to know how he had come to this planet just yet. He summoned up as much energy as his form allowed, forming a massive sphere of energy between his hands. He looked at the pod for a brief moment, before releasing the blast. The pod was obliterated in an instant, an enormous explosion wracking the ground with tremors, and bowing the trunks of the surrounding trees. Satisfied that his tracks were sufficiently covered, Hyoza left the smoking crater and set off to find a way out of the forest.
Back in the air again, the Arcosian outlaw sped across the vastness of the Earth's pale blue sky, the forest rolling away before him, when he suddenly sensed an aura approaching him. Though it was weak, Hyoza knew all too well that some beings could disguise their full power, and ducked down below the trees to await the arrival of this being. It was not long before the fighter arrived - for it was clear he was a fighter. He looked like a Saiyan, though his hair was a blueish color which was unheard of in the Saiyan species, and he lacked a tail. Hyoza assumed it was a native of Earth - a human, he vaguely recalled their name was.
The fighter was suspended in the air, almost right on top of Hyoza's hiding spot. He was looking around, and it seemed clear that the earthling could sense Hyoza's presence. His aura was still weak, but the Arcosian was loathe to attack a foe that could be concealing power far beyond his own capabilities. Still, this being could sense his energy, and it may only be a matter of time before he resorts to simply bombarding the forest to draw him out. Grudgingly, Hyoza decided to make the first move.
Charging his ki, the alien prepared his Brave Gatling technique, channeling power into the crimson orbs that now tipped each of his fingers. Unwilling to take any risks, he charged them to their fullest - a level of power that could drill straight through the hull of a starship, as he knew from experience. Hyoza took a deep breath, and fired his cluster of beams. The deadly energy lanced up into the air, slicing through the treetops with ease before reaching the human fighter.
Unfortunately for Hyoza, the fighter was no longer in harm's way. He had quickly strafed out of the beams' path and charged an attack of his own, hurling several blasts of energy down at the Arcosian's position. The Changeling leapt into the sky and brought himself face-to-face with his opponent. The two stared each other down for a moment, before the earthling spoke.
"I was coming to see if you needed help, but it seems what you really need is a good kicking. Why'd you attack me?"
"It's just my nature," Hyoza remarked with a grin, before firing off another series of less powerful beams at his opponent. The human simply deflected them with a swipe of his arm, before powering up. His white aura blazed brightly around him as his energy levels soared. Hyoza was, however, relieved to find that the human did not seem as strong as him, though this relief was short-lived as Hyoza found the warrior bearing down on him with a series of rapid-fire ki blasts. The Arcosian rushed to deflect them, though two struck him in the chest, shattering what remained of his battle armor.
Irritated at the loss of yet more of his property, the changeling pirate swung his tail at the charging fighter, slamming into his skull and hurling him towards the forest below. The human recovered well before he even grazed the upper treetops, however, and hurled a flurry of energy blasts at him once more. This time, Hyoza had a greater distance and time in which to evade, and flew over the barrage, swooping down and hitting the human with a blast of his own. The fighter caught the hit in his stomach, which knocked the wind out of him and flung him down below the trees with explosive force.
Hyoza was not willing to let up while he had the advantage, and continued to pursue his foe, hurling crimson spheres of energy as he went. The ground shook for almost a kilometer around, as the forest was reduced to a heap of shattered debris by the onslaught. But the human emerged, looking only a little battered. This caught Hyoza by surprise, and he took a hard kick to the ribs, which sent him careening through the air. The human gave chase, striking Hyoza another half-dozen times before the alien could react. Hyoza feinted with a kick, before spinning to once again knock his foe away with his tail. The Arcosian followed up with a flurry of blasts before charging another set of beams at his fingertips. But as the smoke cleared, and Hyoza prepared to fire, the human raised his hands, fingers splayed, on either side of his head, and shouted something Hyoza couldn't quite make out.
Suddenly, a blinding white light flooded his vision, and he found himself completely unable to see. He blinked and shook his head, but the flash burned into his vision would not clear any faster, and in a panic he dropped back into the trees below to hide. When eventually his sense returned, the aura of the fighter had gone, and he was alone. He had made himself an enemy already, and caused quite a lot of damage to the local environment.
Locking on to the next closest aura, Hyoza set off once more, jetting through the open skies with the comet-trail of crimson energy following behind him.
