Name: Katsu Yuda
Alias/es: Dr. Yuda
Catchphrase/s: "Knowledge is Sacred."
Species: Human
Alignment: Blue and Orange!
Gender: Male
Age: 17 Earth Cycles
Appearance:
Weight: 147 lbs (66.6 kg)
Build: Thin, Wiry, Surprisingly Muscled
Complexion: Light Tan
Eyes: Hazel, Contact Lenses (Metallic Sheen)
Hair: Black, Short, Messy
Clothing: Katsu normally covers his lower half with dark jeans or slacks with crew socks and comfortable dark dress shoes. For his top half varying T-shirts over a white tank-top then covered with a long white labcoat is the norm. On particularly wet or windy days he's been known to don a black greatcoat outside everything else. Avoids hats and most headwear beyond his glasses, preferring an umbrella if needed.
Ki Aura: Orange with motes of silver.
Misc: Katsu doesn't have any distinguishing marks such as a scar or tattoo yet.[/ul]
Personality: Epistemophilia is the excessive striving or preoccupation of Knowledge. It's also Katsu's defining personality trait. Ever since he was young Katsu has had a desire to know and experience everything he possibly can, and even in his adult life it's the driving force behind his actions. Luckily Katsu has the brainpower to seek out knowledge, and although he doesn't have much formal training, Katsu can be considered a self-taught Polymath, able to pull up some kind of information on most known Earth sciences, especially biology, robotics, and theoretical metaphysics. Also due to Katsu's love for knowledge it has turned him into something of an adrenaline junkie; often times any fight he participates in is not to actually defeat someone but just to get the thrill of fighting someone strong, preferably stronger than him!
Beyond that Katsu's mind is not something that is easy to understand; in fact most just think he's a little insane. Any sense of human morality, when applied to Katsu, breaks down on the spot. Katsu can perform incredibly cruel and sadistic acts just as easily as kind and loving acts, and his thought process behind such actions are rarely anything a human would think of normally. Of course Katsu isn't completely inhuman. For example the recent Saiyan invasion of Earth has left a certain scar on Katsu's psyche, giving him a certain measure of distaste for the Saiyans, who had destroyed his work in South City, as well as a certain desire to become strong. If he died, he couldn't keep amassing knowledge, right?
History: Katsu has always been a very inquisitive and curious human. The saying "Curiosity killed the Cat, but satisfaction brought it back" is tailor-made to suit Katsu. In his younger years Katsu had always been getting up to something he found interesting, which varied wildly. One moment he could enjoy watching a colony of ants go about their business, the next the weather could fascinate him for hours at a time. Katsu was essentially wonderstruck by the world, and enjoyed just being able to experience things. His parents weren't really sure what to do with him. They had two other children before him, but neither of them had the strange sort of manic wonder that Katsu seemed to experience daily.
When they discovered Katsu dissecting one of the neighborhood felines at the age of 5, which he said had been ran over by a passing vehicle, they were alarmed. They took him to a couple different psychologists, but when Katsu started responding to the queries of "What does this look like to you" with "That looks like Rorschach's inkblot card number 37" it was determined that Psychologists couldn't really help him. At the very least Katsu was now known to his parents to be an incredibly intelligent boy, and since his behavior while deviant wasn't actually violent, perhaps there was nothing they needed to do. So from age 5 to 15 Katsu's life was stable, mostly filled with a grand amount of education followed by Katsu turning a profit from the stock market to repay his family every cent they had ever spent on him all at once, then promptly leaving as soon as he could. There was a reasoning, although his parents couldn't understand it; the happenings of the universe at large.
The Saiyan Solar Empire had managed to deal a huge blow to the Arcosian Empire, and Katsu felt that the bloodshed wasn't going to stop just there. Now while he felt little actual fear or sadness over War, Katsu did feel a certain level of excitement at the prospect of it. So he began to increase his studies into biology; trying to glean some sort of information. Something to try and give humanity an edge against the Saiyans if they did attack. Planet Earth was his home after all, he had started his first steps towards knowledge on the blue marble.
Katsu's plan to help the Earth defend itself against the Saiyans was both successful and a failure at the same time. It was successful because he had managed to create a serum that when injected was supposed to increase one's strength a hundredfold. It was a failure because it came far too late. By the time Katsu had managed to synthesize a single dose of his creation, the Saiyans had already launched their attack. As the brave and the bold fought in the skies above Katsu and his assistants raced to collect as much of their data as possible. They knew it was only a matter of time before South City started crumbling; one and all wished they had just a few more minutes to gather up their data before an Oozaru was thrown into the building.
The several ton creature crushed cement and steel as it fell back from a strike given by one of the big Mechs employed by Earth's defenses. Seven of Katsu's assistants were squashed like bugs under the weight, and Katsu himself found himself pinned to the floor by a portion of the outer wall. Struggling vainly, Katsu watched as the Oozaru picked itself up and tried to attack one of the Mechs once more, eventually being thrown back into the building a second time, pulverizing what was merely crushed before. Katsu himself managed to escape...by injecting his serum. At first the effect seemed miniscule, Katsu took the time between the Oozaru getting up and its second knockdown to free himself from the rubble, and he didn't get any farther than that before the rest of the building came down on top of his head. Unconscious and buried under tons of rubble Katsu wasn't rescued for three days. Katsu suffered from severe dehydration and was in a coma from brain trauma for six days after that. When Katsu, the sole survivor of his lab, awoke he was quickly diagnosed with amnesia, unable to recall the events of the battle and a great deal of the event up to two months prior, erasing his knowledge of the formula for the serum and much of the prior research. Worse yet Katsu's lab had been completely destroyed, all records of the project had been crushed and pulverized by the falling Oozaru. Two weeks after his awakening Katsu tried to study his own blood, in an attempt to pull the serum from his own body, but couldn't find any lingering serum in his system. His body was changed however, and Katsu could feel a surging strength every time he exerted himself. Two more weeks and the Doctor's released Katsu from their care, his body whole and his mind stable.
So Katsu, at least for now, remains the only successful recipient of his own creation. Further studies into his body told Katsu just how successful his serum was. When he had injected the serum Katsu had a recorded Power Level of 7, an expectable number for a scientist who did little exercise. Recordings after the incident had placed Katsu in the several hundreds range, indeed a hundredfold growth. With his newfound body being strong enough to handle Ki usage, and his great mind set towards the future, what amazing adventures will this Epistemovore be a part of...?
