Today would be the day that everything would change. After today, all of the troubles of Earth would be solved and world peace-no, interplanetary peace, would be established. Everyone would be nice to each other and total non-jerks, and go up to one another be like, “Man, that one guy from that T.V. show was so cool and hot and I wanna be just like him”. At least, that’s what Jax Punchlust thought how today would be remembered. It was, after all, the final day of shooting for the ending episode of his hit T.V. show, and he was pretty sure that after everyone saw it that they’re lives would be changed forever.
At the moment, though, Jax was hovering in the air, using the power of his super awesome martial art skills, as he watched the scene below him go through the process of filming. His supervisors recommended that he had at least use some wires to help himself stay up in the air, but Jax had denied the offer, as he wanted to be a hundred and thirty percent authentic with every single action scene in the show, especially now, with it being the series finale. He owed it to the hundreds of fans of the educational children’s programming block that the action scenes would be completely real, and not edited in by some computers to make a cheap and lesser product. Still, because of this, he had to sign extra paperwork, just so in case he hurt himself the studio wouldn’t get in trouble.
Focusing for a second on the scene below him, Jax tried to figure out where in the story the actors were. A short and slightly chubby man in what seemed to be a pirate outfit entirely made out of cardboard was currently waving around his super weapon, which was in real life just a modified water-gun, at what were currently his hostages, having just taken over a grocery store so he can steal all of the sugary snacks inside.
“You’ll never get away with this!” One of the hostages yelled at the pirate, only for the small man to slowly make his way over to the hostage and stuff a bag of potato chips into their mouth to shut them up.
“I hate to tell you, ya whippersnapper, but there’s no one who can possibly save you! And nothing can stop me from committing the world’s biggest robbery of the century!” The pirate chuckled to himself for awhile, as he suddenly made an abrupt stop to pull out his “super-weapon”. “And now, you shall feel the pain….”
He pointed the gun at the hostages, as he got into a stance to prepare a shot with the weapon. And he continued to stay in stance. For a few moments, the actors stayed silent, making a few awkward glances at each other, but staying in character, confusing Jax as to what was supposed to be going on down there. After a minute or two the pirate repeated his line.
"And now...YOU SHALL FEEL THE PAIN..."
But again, nothing happened. Eventually, after a few more seconds of painfully awkward silence, the pirate man looked up at Jax, giving him a stern face for a reason Jax couldn't exactly put together. In response, he waved to the pirate off camera, as he continued to hover over the set and drink a rather relaxing cup of herbal tea. It wasn't until the pirate started nudging his head to the hostages that he realized that he had missed the cue, and that this was supposed to be "his moment".
Bringing his hover to a sudden stop, Jax fell to the ground beneath himself, making his entrance onto the set. Unfortunately, this entrance happened to occur on top a few of the hostages, but luckily, Jax wasn't hurt at all, and his tea had made it out okay. After taking a few seconds to get up and take his final sips of his drink, he turned to the pirate, pointing at him empathically, as he posed with his chest out and a hand on his hip.
"NOT IF I HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ON THE MATTER! YOUR PLOY HAS BEEN EXPOSED, CAPTAIN SNACK-STEALER! " A few of the hostages struggled to get up behind Jax, still in bad shape thanks his rather shaky landing, and the whoever the actor playing Captain Snack-stealerwas didn't seem to be enjoying being on set with Jax at all, espically how he had just spit all over him when giving his rather overly acted intro lines.
"JIMJOHN, THE FIGHTINGMAN?!! BUT HOW, I THOUGHT I HAD YOU STUCK IN MY MATHEMATICAL QUIZ OF DEATH!"
"Haha, oh dear captain. Mere algebra cannot stop me..." Jax placed his hands behind himself, a barely noticeable purple hue emitting from them. "But it doesn't take a math genius to know that me plus you equals a lot of butt-kicking..." The energy in his hands started to become slightly more noticeable, as an annoying humming noise becoming louder and louder.
"Kink...yori..." The humming noise was now in full blast, with an energy ball the size of marble visible in his hands. "ENERUGIKEN!!"
Jax swung his arms out in front of himself, releasing the ball of energy at the Captain, who was currently in the middle of turning around and looking over his shoulder, all for dramatic effect. Once the sphere made contact with the pirate's back, it immediately disappeared, as if it was only a whiff of air. Still, the actor screamed out in pain, falling to the floor as he flopped around like a fish. Not realizing the rather pathetic nature of his fighting style, Jax walked over to the pirate, placing his foot on-top of him in an unscripted act of celebration.
"Remember kids, always pay before trying to leave the store. And also, the Genwaku To Seishin No Hageshī Sentō Sutair way is the only way!" Jax kept his pose going, as he smiled and stared straight forward at the cameras, as the lights on the set began to dim.
"All right, that's a wrap people! That's it, we're done!"
Once the director gave the final orders, everyone started to pack up. The crew started to put away equipment and turn everything off, taking a few moments to make sure they got what they needed. The actors who played hostages limped off the stage, making their way to the studio's doctor, who was hired just shortly after Jax came onto the show, thanks to how it seemed every time he was on set at least one person got injured. The rather unhappy actor who had been playing Captain Snack-Stealer got up and headed for the actors’ rooms, flipping Jax over and onto the floor.
After finding his way off the floor and set, Jax started to walk to his room, but was soon interrupted, but a man had managed to slip his way past the bustling stage crew and various actors. He was a tall man, and was wearing a rather fine black suit, which was accompanied by his slicked back hair and oversized briefcase.
"Hey, Jax, my man, so how was the shooting of the last episode?" The man put his arm around Jax's shoulder, and he forcibly pulled him closer to his chest, as he continued to walk alongside Jax.
"Oh, hi Steve. It was great, I really feel the fan will get the long-time closure to the series that they wanted, along with the standard education-"
"Oh, great, great." Steve ignored Jax's answer, like he often did. "Now, look, you had a good run here. You took a children's show and took it to the next level, and it's been a good run, but...what kind of agent would I be if I wasn't thinking about your future? I got a few cartoons lined up, which can borden your fan base. Oh, and I got a couple of deals in movies in the work that could really get you to the next level. Tell me how this sounds, you in the role of a time traveling dolphin who has to save the past from a robotic murdering-"
"Look Steve, this is great and all..." Jax stopped for a moment, opening the door to his room as he looked around from the enterance. He turned his attention back to Steve, and started to scratch the back of his head nervously. "It's just...I don't think I wanna do this anymore. I think I'm done with the show business." Steve flinched back as if in pain.
"W-WHAT? Y-You can't leave the show business! You're only just getting started! Jax, you can't leave now. You're a big name on T.V., people who give a rat's ass about what one plus two equals still tune in just to watch you fight! And with you're martial arts skills you can do stunts that no one else can, you're a rare talent, why would you leave..."
"Because I have to, Steve." Jax went inside his room, talking to Steve over his shoulder as he rummaged around. "For my father."
"Oh no, not this again. You can't keep going through this process. You're dad would be proud of you, Jax. You're a bonafide hero. You're bringing the Punchlust name to the screen, you're bringing his fighting style to the masses..."
"But that's just it, Steve." As Jax kept his attention on the room, he had a sudden "a-ha!" moment, and made his way over to where his personal props for the show were kept. Picking up a large punching bag and throwing it over his shoulder, he walked back onto the set with Steve, locking the door behind him. "I may be bringing the fighting style to the world at large, but I'm not doing anything with it. I'm not doing any good..."
"Jax, you worry too much." Steve put his arm around Jax once again, as he shined his bright white teeth. "You're making decent pay, you're famous, you need to stop thinking about all this stuff about your father, I mean, to the world at large he meant nothin-"
As soon as the words started to leave Steve's mouth, Jax dropped the punching bag and grabbed him by the shirt collar, pushing him against a nearby wall. Almost immediately the set grew silent, with everyone paused in place and watching Jax.
"Now listen here, my daddy was the best man to ever live and he never thought of himself...and..." Jax tried to keep his fierce expression, but he was overwhelmed with emotion, and before he knew it tears started to flood out of his eyes. "MY DAD WAS THE GREATEST THING EVER, YOU HEAR. AND IN HIS NAME, I WILL FIGHT AGAINST ALL EVIL IN THE WORLD, AND MAKE THINGS BETTER AND MORE GROOVY! JUST LIKE HE WOULD WANT!" Jax let Steve go, as he tried to cover up the wave of tears with his hands.
"Um...well, okay Jax. I mean, I guess if it's really what you want..."
"I-IT IS! I WANT TO HELP HUMANITY IN THE NAME OF MY FATHER, AND HIS FATHER, AND ALL THAT IS FUNKY JUSTICE..." The tears started to dial back, allowing Jax to properly see again, and grab his punching bag. He extended his tear covered hand out to Steve, as he tried to hold back his emotions. "Goodbye, Steve."
Going toward the door, Jax took one last look at the set. This would be his final time in the world of television. From here on out, would begin his quest to become as strong as possible, to bring honor to his father's name, and become a true "fighting man". Giving a thumbs up to the crew, who was still watching him thanks to his rather dramatic speech, Jax made his way to the exit, and tripped on his way out of the studio, and into his whole new life that awaited him.
