The Pendulum Room visit was the last part of Nemo’s training, but it wasn’t the only training he did in the sixth day. Like always, he woke very early in the morning to do some general exercising. The Lookout was a fairly spacious place, so he would have plenty of room to run around and do his warm-ups, since Kami-sama allowed him to use the platform as his training grounds for the time being. And so, we see our favorite green person running around the platform in a constant pace. He was evaluating his speed, so the purpose of this was not only warm up (something whose effectiveness was pushed further, due to using weighted clothing), but also trying to determine if his agility was satisfactory or not. The idea was to see how many laps he could do around the lookout within one hour, without stopping or lowering his speed. This was very tricky, not only because of the training equipment restraining his potential and speed, but also because the air on top of the lookout is very rarefied, requiring some getting used to first. Although he has sparred a couple of times now in such an altitude, an endurance training was much different and certainly more tiresome.
After sixty minutes, Nemo counts his laps twenty nine. Just below one lap per two minutes. He felt sluggish. No pun intended, as he doesn’t get those. Still, there were other areas he needed to train and improve as well. This would then spawn a seven hours long session involving all type of exercises imaginable. He would start with some push-ups. But not any regular push-ups. Let me teach you something I learned when I wasn’t lazy and used to work out myself: you always start with the exercise the uses the highest number of muscles to execute the movement, leaving concentrated training for last. Sure… Nemo only had his body weight to work with, with no props other than his cloak, boots, gloves and belt to work on…. so he would have to be creative if he wanted his training to be effective and cover his whole body.
The pushups the greenie would start with are called t-pushups. Google it. He puts his hands and legs in a wide grip on the floor as if he was going to do a regular series, but when moving his body up again, he raises his hand up in a “t-shape” and then goes back down again, repeating the process with his other hand. Only then he counts one. This takes a while, going on for around one hour and a half, before he is finally allowed to rest his forty seconds and skip to the next push-up training. Yes…. this will be basically push-ups, although each exercise will target a certain part of his body. The t-pushups for example, work out the upper body as a whole.
Next, he would proceed to the trees by the courtyard to use them as supports, wrapping locking a trunk between his thighs so he could do elevated feet push-ups. That increases the tension on his upper body. The rest is basically just a regular push-up session. One… two… three… don’t worry; I’m not going to be cheap and count up to the thousand repetitions he would have done by the time he concluded the push-up series. That would be his golden number today: one thousand. This should have taken him about twelve or thirteen minutes to conclude. Next step: one feet push-ups.
Shouldn’t be a mystery to understand the third exercise of his program. You simply stay in wide grip, lift a leg and do push-ups. Then, when you finish all iterations for one side, you repeat the series with the opposite leg lifted up. The time to complete this one: around twenty five minutes and like the elevated feet push-ups on the previous paragraph, this also increases the tension on the upper body and core. Since this was a short one with only five lines, I’ll describe the next part of his training in this fragment: atomic pushups. You do this by performing a little hop after you’re done lifting your torso, stopping in a crouched position. Then, you jump back to the usual stance and repeat the drill. That’s another fifty minutes on the clock.
From now on, there aren’t many weird exercises. He would do a set of regular push-ups, then one handed push-ups and finally narrow grip push-ups to finish the cycle of strengthening chest and arms. This took about another hour. He would then proceed with pike push-ups, which are performed with your body positioned in the ground like an upside down “V”, being some sort of a prelude to do regular and one-handed vertical push-ups which would close the variants of this exercise for the day. These would target shoulder area more.
After these, there would only be two sets left: sit-ups, lunges, squat variants and some calf strengthening . Once Nemo was done with these, seven hours should have already passed since he began his training for the day. That would conclude generic training. He would now do some movement practice. For the next half-hour, the namekian would stand in the courtyard throwing a few punches and kicks as if staging a fight. The more you repeat one movement, the more fluid it becomes. Once he was done, it was time to proceed with the last part of today’s training.
I swear (Well… I actually hope…) that this last part will be less boring than the previous nine hundred words about common exercises. It will involve what dragonball is all about: fighting. But before, I need to take you to small flashback of when he learned a special technique from his Master Malac, when he was a student of the previous master of the Warrior Clan. As reality warps to reflect a new scenery, we see a young scar-less version of Nemo which is much less grotesque regarding muscle mass standing in front of an older namekian. I won’t bother describing him because these greenies all look alike, which is perfect for some lazy writers like me. They are surrounded by the familiar landscape of New Namek: grassy terrain, green skies and waters, as well as the peculiar orbicular crowned trees that compose the planet’s native vegetation. Of course it is day, since there’s no night in the slug people’s planet. They are sharing a few lines of dialogue.
~ “The next technique I’ll teach you can be used both offensively and defensively. It is called the Multi-Form technique and it has been in the clan for many generations. Observe” ~ The older namekian explains, readying himself for a brief demonstration.
~ “First, close your eyes and concentrate your ki, letting it flow equally to each part of your body. Symmetry is very important to execute this move with success” ~ Master Malac says, repeating the steps he narrated himself.
~ “Then, force it out of your body… like if you were replacing a lost limb, but in a much larger scale…” ~ The sensei says scowling as he tenses his muscles, appearing to be under great discomfort. The namekian suddenly glows for a moment with a blue aura and green goo gushes from all parts of Malac’s body as if a new being was trying to come out of him directly. In a few moments, a tangible clone jumps out of his body.
~ “And that’s it…” ~ Master Malac says panting slightly.
~ “Incredible!” ~ The amazed Nemo replies.
~ “As you grow stronger you should be able to split into more than one copy. That will be especially helpful in performing some routine tasks, as well as in friendly spars, as you’ll always have one or more partners available. But for now, let’s start with a single clone… You now!” ~ Malac orders.
~ “Alright!” ~ The hasty young namekian curls and begins to power-up to try and mimic his master’s technique. I won’t narrate the sequence of failures that our protagonist faced before he got the technique right, so let’s go back to the present timeline and watch an experienced Nemo perform the four clones version of his sensei’s technique.
Nemo clenches and soon enough, four copies of himself sprout from his body. One of the copies move away from the battlefield and sits in a meditative position. That one would be concentrating ki for the duration of the spar. A second one would sits on the other side of the courtyard, facing the meditative copy. This would be the eyes; it would observe and judge the performance of the other three. As for the remaining two Nemos, they would face each other in a spar session. Both get into position. Perhaps multi-form isn’t the best choice in the actual battlefield, as it weakens the user proportionally to the number of clones produced. But when you get creative, like Master Malac said in the flashback, it can really be useful on the day-to-day routine. The fight begins
Fists flying in the air, the two clones pummel each other with no pity nor regards for the integrity of their bodies. Purple blood drips on the granite colored floor of the hovering platform and the clones throw themselves around violently, while their referee keep track of their every movement. One of the clones hit the other in the face. Then we see a scene of the other landing a kick on the opponent. This will be a tricky fight to narrate… I will call these Clone One and Clone Two to make it easier to keep track of the participants in the fight. The next scene we see, is Clone One with his arms stretched forward and several energy balls being shot at number Two. The copy skids across the floor lifting a cloud of smoke in its way, but is quick to regain composure and get back on its feet by jumping while still on the floor, stretching its arms above his head while in the air. As #2 lands, it brings his hands forwards and hurl a powerful yellow colored energy wave at the foe, who responds clutching and yelling loudly to disperse the attack with a Kiai. The fumes resultant from it cover the sight of One, who doesn’t see Two coming from through the smokescreen and is hit helplessly in the face and then is hit torso by a number of swift strikes. Eventually, Clone One manages to deflect his target’s incoming arm to the side and palm strike him in the chest to gain some space. Copy Two skates backwards and clenches while his attacker comes running at him and jumps, trying to hammer his fist on the target. #2 jumps and grabs the opponent by bear hugging him before he could complete his combo and drags him upwards, taking the fight to the air now. Number Two finishes by throwing his foe up. #1 spins for a few moments before he stabilizes himself in the air again.
When he regains control of his movements, Copy One decides to bring the heavy weaponry into the game. It starts yelling in pain in order to produce a new set of arms through the shiyoken technique. Too bad since they were all copies, they had the same tricks. Clone Two does the same and the duo jet forward to a multiple-armed clash of fists. All limbs meet, interlocking fingers in a clash of strength. Since both clones have exactly the same amount of brute power, it was a perfect draw. That is, until one clone knee strikes the other in the stomach, causing it to let go and creating an opening in its defense. Number Two wouldn’t be second anymore and takes the chance to land in as many blows as he could, denting #1’s skin with each strike. He tries to finish the foe off with a blast to the face, but the duplicate manages to move out of the way just in time. The fulvid energy wave grazes the target’s cheek in the process. He then grabs his mirror image’s wrist, tightening its grasp around the limb while it comes with a karate chop aimed on the elbow joint, severing the limb. Clone number two grimaces and loses momentum, allowing for his opponent to deliver a forceful kick to his belly sending him crashing down on the floor on his back. #2 tries to get up but is stopped by two of his opponent’s fist brought down together on his stomach like a maul. The assailant then turns his back and walk away for some reason. That gives the wounded clone enough time to get up.
That part of the spar was over. Now it was time for Nemo to test another of his skills: his swordsmanship. Number One turns around to face Number Two and retracts his extra arms. #2 does the same. Each then reach for the copy of Jiira’s Sword (also multiplied with the Multi-Form Technique) and wielding it in front of themselves to get ready for the blade duel. Once again, the duo is dashing at each other. The sound of clashing metal echoes throughout the Lookout after each swing. The duplicates seem more inclined to dodge now, seeing as a single hit could be fatal now. Several tips the tip of the blade “kiss” a vital area but the major damage ended up being avoided, leaving only a harmless cut on the skin or cape. It would only be after a couple or more minutes that the first critical wound is caused , after Number One power strikes Two’s sword, causing it to go up and create an opening, a situation he exploits to thrust the blade at the opponent’s chest, trespassing it. Two grits his teeth in agony, letting his weapon fall to the floor an moves one arm to grab the blade with his bare hand, causing his violet blood to start flowing on it, dripping from the edge and into the floor. Number One pulls the claymore out of the injured clone’s body slowly, tearing the palm of his hand open. The bleeding duplicate moves his hand to the wound to cover it, but is soon hit in the side of his head with the hilt of his opponent’s blade, causing it to stagger dizzied from the attack and fall on his knees with his back turned on his foe. One then takes a step forward, turning the blade upside down and lifting his arm up as if about to impale #2. However, before he can finish off the combatant and call the match, Two has one last trick up his sleeve. He quickly turns around firing a quick basic ki shot through his fingers at Clone One’s face. That causes him to reflexively drop the weapon as well, moving both hands to cover the fuming area. Number Two stands up palm thrusting the blind copy in the chest and taking the chance to land in a few more blows to send it staggering backwards with a kick to the belly. The copy stops in a defensive stance, facing left and right rapidly without being able to open its eyes. It was time for Two to finish it off; he comes running, grabbing One’s sword that was dropped along the way and makes an angled movement with it upwards and diagonally, slicing the target’s chest and giving him an “X” shaped scar where the original cicatrix Jiira gave him lied. Blood rushes from the large injury, taking the warrior off the ground and causing him to fall defeated on his back. One for One. One for Two. I mean… concerning the scores for the battle so far. However, there would be no time (or need) for them to settle that.
Two and One were close to the copy serving as a referee when the second round ended. Nemo decided it was enough of a display for today and was going to call his training for the day. Suddenly, the fourth copy that was focusing energy all the time during the battle begins to emanate a yellow-orange aura. The three copies stare at it as it starts to moan. Jolts of electricity start sparking on the corners of Four’s (let’s call the duplicate this); it has finished charging his attack; Nemo’s most recent toy, developed specially for the incoming events of the next day. #4 opens his mouth and with a large growl, he releases a ki wave with the same color as his Special Beam Cannon and with a small thinner energy ray spiraling around the main blast. The three copies widen their eyes as they realize the incoming attack, which is all they manage to do before being consumed by the powerful energy wave. It lights up the entire Lookout upon its execution, but no explosion is caused as it simply swallows the copies and keeps going through the clouds until the energy eventually disperse miles away from the platform. Thankfully, no ships, animals or people use to be found flying around at this altitude… else… I just pity their unfortunate destiny in meeting Nemo’s UCHŪNOSHŌTŌHA. Soon, all the vapor clears and we once again see the three clones laying defeated on the floor, still giving off some smoke. #4 who seems to be the “true” Nemo then comes out of his indian pose floating in the air and hovers to the ground again. He calmly walks towards his clones and through a “namekian fusion fashion”, he touches the defeated clones with his hand, causing them to merge back into his body. His review of this peculiar spar? He was still weak. Lacking several qualities he saw in the many heroes that allied themselves on behalf of these pressing matters. Regardless, no one could deny that he was much stronger than when he first came here… most specifically, if we have to use numbers, Nemo was no less than over three times powerful as he was when he met with the other heroes six days ago. Not too shabby for a weak of harsh training and getting his ass beaten by the more experienced warriors that accepted his humble request for training. The namekian smiles, clenching his fists, feeling his newly gained powers rushing through his veins. He then lets out a loud yell, releasing his full power in a powerful and violent exertion.
Sometime later, he would be heading into the Pendulum Room to put that NEW POWER into practice.
