The cold, harsh winds of Arcose blew heavy. The planet, originally ruled by the changeling race, was conquered not long ago by their ancient rivals: The Saiyan Solar Empire. The invasion barely lasted a few hours, with Zuccetta ending Wyntre's life quite easily due to their difference in power.
Xylo sat atop one of the dozens of ruined buildings strewn about, his eyes shut tightly as he focused his mental energy. A small translucent energy formed around him in a dome-like shape as his power gradually rose. Suddenly, his eyes shot open and he extended his hand outwards. A beam of bright orange energy shot onto the ground, and something began to form from within the beams influence.
As the energy subsided, it was revealed that a set of clothes had been created. It was a set of more traditional Namekian clothing; a dark purple gi and a pair of familiar brown shoes. Alongside this sat a large tattered cape and a face-mask. The Namekian smirked as he stood up.
"Looks like my powers aren't as weak as I feared," Xylo thought to himself as he grabbed the cape from the ground. "These clothes are reminiscent of what my father used to wear. Now that my clan has regained some of its former glory, I must adorn the clothing of leaders past to show tribute."
He looked down at his currently worn clothing and scoffed. While Saiyan armor was quite sturdy, it just wasn't his style. He removed the outdated Saiyan chest plate and tossed it to the ground, causing it to kick up some dust. He changed into his new attire quickly, eager to fulfill his destiny as the true leader he was meant to be...
Xylo chuckled lightly as he felt the added weight of his cape begin to affect him. This would be good for training, so he'd have to remember to keep the cape on as much as possible.
Suddenly, a familiar voice spoke from behind the Mazoku Caste warrior.
"Father, I've gathered the others as you requested. Is there something you need of us?"
Xylo turned and saw what he had hoped to see. Guit had rounded up his siblings; the nine of them hovered, patiently awaiting their father’s next order. Their ages ranged anywhere from only a week or two old, to a few months, but each of them were fully fledged warriors already. The nine of them landed behind Guit, all of them kneeling before their father.
The caped Namekian smiled wide, his fanged teeth on full display as he began his speech.
"My children… Though we have faced many hardships in the past, we have now accomplished our greatest achievement yet. We’ve assisted the Saiyans in defeating the Arcosians, proving that Mazoku Caste's fire will never be extinguished!"
He brought a mighty hand up and clenched it victoriously as he continued. "This victory marks the first step towards claiming what is rightfully ours. For years we've been outcast, tossed aside and exiled! But no more! Though that robotic bastard has destroyed our home world, we will find other lands to lay claim to! The might of the Mazoku shall no longer be considered a filthy and impure way of life!" He raised his fist high above his head, inciting a cheer from the small crowd.
"In the coming weeks we shall continue to bolster our numbers. With me as the leader of our clan, we will never fall again!"
"What right do you have to lead?!"
The challenging yell came from the back of the small crowd. The owner of the voice, a stocky Namekian warrior, pushed past some of his brethren, standing stoically at the front of the crowd as he challenged demandingly once more.
"I challenge you to a duel! The winner gains rightful leadership of the Mazoku Caste!"
Xylo let out a soft chuckle, folding his arms as he replied. "Tooba...do you really question my rule? Get back in your place before I punish you for your insolence."
Tooba moved forwards, placing a threatening finger on Xylo's chest. "Do you think you scare me? Do you think I'm just going to run away with my tail tucked under my legs? No, I am going to kill you and lead this caste myself!"
"So be it… foolish child."
Xylo pulled his head back and jutted it forwards, headbutting Tooba. The stubborn oaf reeled in pain, clutching his forehead as he stumbled his way back into the crowd. The Namekians fanned out, encircling the two warriors as they watched the battle that was about to unfold.
"Urgh! That was a cheap shot you bastard!" Tooba said, removing his hands from his forehead as he slipped into a battle stance.
"Shut your mouth and fight, weakling. Prove yourself worthy of my bloodline and I might let you live."
Silence permeates the air as the two warriors stare each other down. It was as if time stood still for just this moment; the calm before the storm. The result of this battle would change the fate of the Mazoku forever.
The silence was shattered when both warriors let out furious yells. They charged each other, fists cocked back, ready to strike. The two Namekian warriors met in the middle of the circle, their fists collided, creating a shockwave of energy that forced some of the onlookers to shield their eyes.
Both Namekians yelled again, each of them letting loose a flurry of punches. The strikes collided with one another every time. It seemed the two were evenly matched.
Xylo, realizing that simply matching his opponent's blows would do him no good, decided to mix it up. He threw out a round-house kick, only to have Tooba easily duck under it. Xylo's eyes widened at the surprising dexterity his son showed, but his eyes were quickly closed when he felt a painful fist connect with his face from just below.
The Mazoku Warrior was sent skywards, but felt a hand grasp at his leg. He looked down to see Tooba had extended his arm! With a mighty pull, Tooba yanked his father out of the sky, sending him crashing into the rocky terrain below.
"Hah! Who's the weakling now?!"
Xylo stood up, dusting himself off angrily. He glared at Tooba from a distance, responding to his insult by charging energy into both of his hands.
"Scatter Shot!"
The Namekian began firing a barrage of Ki attacks right at Tooba! The Challenger was able to avoid the barrage entirely, bobbing and weaving through the Ki as it zipped by. A few of the orbs smashed into nearby buildings, while others nearly smacked into the spectators.
Eventually, the barrage died out, leaving Xylo gasping for breath while Tooba remained unscathed.
"Is that all you've got old man?"
A cocky smirk grew on Xylo's face as he stopped panting "...Not even close."
He grabbed at his weighted cape, pulling it up and over his head. He tossed it to the floor, causing a crack to form in the ground.
Tooba blinked in confusion, he couldn't sense Ki due to his lack of training, so he didn't notice a difference. "You took off your cape? What the hell is tha--GUWAH!"
The challengers words were interrupted by a green fist slamming into his face. Xylo's speed had risen dramatically, along with his strength. Tooba was launched into the sky, spinning wildly out of control before he careened towards a ruined building. The stocky warrior smashed into the wall, embedding himself into it. He groaned in pain as he tried his best to rip himself free of his prison.
Xylo advanced slowly, a chuckle escaped his lips as he reached the foolish young challenger. He placed his hand on Tooba's face, digging deep into his skin and forcefully plucking him from the wall.
He tossed Tooba to the ground, and aimed his open palm at the young warrior "That all you got, kid?"
"...Not even clo--"
Once again, Tooba was cut off. This time however, he was simply blasted into oblivion by a massively overpowering energy wave. Once the energy dissipated, there was simply nothing left of the challenger.
Xylo turned back to the crowd, bellowing out a challenge to his children. "Anyone else want to challenge my rule?!"
Silence followed.
"...That's what I thought...Guit, Hand me my cape!"
Guit shuffled over to Xylo's cape, straining to pick it up as he moved over to his father. Xylo swiped the cape from his firstborns hands, re-adorning it quickly.
Suddenly, he heard a voice squeak out from behind him. "Uhm...excuse me...Xylo is it?"
The Mazoku Leader turned to see an Ee messenger, quivering in fear at the cold-blooded kill he just witnessed.
"What is it you want, Messenger?"
"Well uh...the Tree of Might has produced many powerful fruit. Queen Zuccetta requested that you were to be given this."
The messenger handed over an odd looking fruit. It had bumps all around it, and it gave off an eery glow. Xylo eyed it curiously, trying to understand the purpose of this gift.
"Apparently, consuming it will boost your already impressive might! I know Namekians don't eat food...but maybe it'll work for you!"
"I see..."
Xylo slowly brought the fruit to his lips, opening his mouth and biting into it. Suddenly, a surge of energy flowed through his system, bulking his muscles briefly. His body strained to adjust to the new power it held, but quickly became accustomed to it. The Namekian smirked, scarfing down the rest of the fruit, which boosted his strength even further!
He tossed the stem to the ground, and scanned the area around him. He only just noticed how barren the planet had truly become.
"We need to leave, and soon..."
"B-but Kouda isn't ready to leave just yet!"
"Very well then, I shall simply commandeer a space pod from the ruins. Let The Good Doctor know that I will be departing to Vegeta."
"Very well sir..." The Ee bowed before scurrying off.
Xylo turned, heading towards the palace ruins to search for a space pod. As he walked, he gave an order to his clansmen.
"You'll all be staying here with Kouda. Think of it as punishment for your brothers insubordination."
The Mazoku Namekians knelt down to their leader, letting out a "YES SIR!" in unison as Xylo slowly walked off.
