Yocho looked upon the school he had left behind. He hadn't planned to come back until he was strong enough to defeat the turtle hermit. But here he was, perched upon the wall surrounding the school. Watching as the students fought each other as training. Training he should have been a part of. Oh, Yocho couldn't wait to destroy this place. And everyone in it. But for now, he couldn't do anything. He played with the idea that he was already stronger than the turtle hermit. He flew behind the wall and shouted:
"Kame... Hame... Ha!" He moved his hands outwards to expel the ki...
Nothing. Of course he wasn't stronger than the turtle hermit. For 3 years, he had been trying to master the kamehameha wave, but to no avail. His best guess was that he needed the turtle hermit to teach him properly. Rumor had it the creator of the kamehameha wave trained for 1,000 years to master it. Although others said he was a kid when he created it... Yocho had never seen the kamehameha wave in action, but when he was still at school, older students would talk about how they had seen the master put out fires and take out fields with the wave. He didn't understand what he was doing wrong, but maybe before he destroyed the turtle hermit, he'd make her teach it to him.
Yocho was lost in his own thoughts and started drifting downwards. He had only recently learnt how to fly and couldn't hold it for long amounts of time. He flew back to the wall and considered leaving to go back home. Do some training. Get stronger. Yocho had to get stronger. He had to beat the turtle hermit. He had to prove himself.
His sixteenth birthday was the worst moment of his life. Not only did he realise he was a Saiyan, a race he had grown to hate because of his dreams and living on Earth, but he got expelled from the New Turtle School. But this wasn't the time to be feeling sorry for himself. This was the time to be training. Almost as soon as he decided to leave, he got pushed off the wall. In his surprise, Yocho almost forgot he could fly.
As he got to the top, he saw a boy around his age standing on top of the wall. Yocho stood next to him on the wall.
"What was that for?!" Yocho asked. "Wall that high, you could've killed me!"
"Yeah, right. If only. Everyone knows Saiyans can't die easily. But then again, you always were pretty weak, weren't you Yocho? Even compared to us "petty" humans."
"Oh, come on, Rische. You know I've never thought that." He didn't realise who the boy was at first, but those words could only come from his old rival and friend, Rische.
"You never had time to think that. The day you found out you were better than all of us, you left this place."
"I got expelled."
"Remind me why that was again?"
Yocho punched Rische. Hard. Rische nearly fell of the side of the wall, but grabbed hold of it and jumped back up.
"Typical Yocho," taunted Rische. "Still talking with his fists rather than his mouth."
Yocho punched Rische again, but this time he was ready and grabbed his fist, using it to jump over Yocho and kick him from behind. Yocho stumbled for a bit, but quickly gained his composure.
"I didn't choose to be a Saiyan."
"But you did choose to attack that kid."
"I... I... How is he?"
"He's still in a COMA!" With that burst of anger, Rische kicked Yocho again, but this time the power in it was huge. Yocho fell back and was lying on the thin wall. Rische towered above him. And then turned around,
"I'm not you. I won't hurt you any more."
Yocho was breathing heavily now,
"You've... Really... Changed... Rische..."
"Yeah. Guess I have."
"But... That doesn't mean... I won't... WIN!" Yocho saw on opening between Rische's legs and kicked. Rische screamed in pain.
"Duuuuuuude! You can't do that. That's below the belt!"
"Fine, fine, whatever. Would you prefer to try that again?"
"YES!"
"Ok, then." Yocho got in the same position as before and Rische once again towered above him. Yocho did the exact same thing as before. Rische screamed in pain again, but Yocho was howling with laughter. "I can't believe you fell for that." Yocho was laughing so hard that he fell of the wall. Luckily he was flying so he didn't fall, but Rische was prepared this time. He flew over to Yocho (Rische seemed to be able to fly better than Yocho. He really needed to train.) and threw a barrage of speedy punches at him. Yocho watched the punches carefully, taking them in until he grabbed both fists.
...
Yocho did nothing with them.
"Well?" asked Rische. "You gonna do something?"
"Nah. I'm just enjoying holding your hands." Rische pulled his arms away in disgust. Yocho controlled his laughter and used the opening to attack Rische with his own barrage of puches and kicks. Finally, Rische got pushed into the wall, though the wall was strong enough to support Rische's weight. As Rische flew back, he started speaking again,
"That. Was a sneaky trick."
"Are you proud of me?"
"I'd forgotten how annoying you are."
"Only when I'm not trying to kill you." Yocho grinned. Then Rische grinned,
"It's good to see you again, buddy. You haven't come back since you got expelled."
"Training... Plotting revenge. You know how it is."
"Revenge?" asked Rische. "That's not like you."
"I put a kid in a coma. Everything's like me." Rische stayed silent. "I want to destroy the turtle hermit."
"The turtle hermit changes every few years now. Our old master is..."
"I don't care. Our master should have looked out for us. For me. She was supposed to train us. But the first sign of trouble, and she lets me fend for myself. I'm going to kill the new turtle hermit. And then I'm going to destroy this place."
"Yocho..."
"I'll leave you, don't worry. I need someone to crush constantly."
"There's nothing I can do to change your mind, is there?"
"No."
"Come visit me sometime, yeah? Can't find someone on my level to face. I need you."
"Yeah, sure. Is there still a curfew?"
"I can get out when I want."
"Then I'll see you soon I guess." Yocho started to fly away, but Rische stopped him.
"I need a good sparring partner. Stay for a bit longer. Please."
And so the two fought all day and most of the night. Constantly showing each other up, playing mind games and having fun, forgetting all the troubles they had in their lives. Neither showed the other the special techniques they had learnt, but that was soon to come, and Yocho was looking forward to the day he would get to fight Rische again.
And finally the two were getting ready to part ways again. Yocho realised the fight was the longest he had gone flying. Sparring with Rische really was useful. Of course, he didn't tell Rische that. Yocho finally started to fly away slowly.
Rische flew to him and started tickling him, Yocho's biggest weakness.
"I wish I could stop being ticklish."
"Come on, you enjoy it really. You weren't gonna leave without saying goodbye, are you?"
"I'll see you again."
"I know."
"I messed up."
"I know."
"Don't die."
"No promises."
Yocho smiled at that. The two bowed and parted ways. Yocho was afraid to get to know his old friend again, because he knew that one day soon, they would inevitably be on seperate sides of a battle. Yocho would not stop training to beat the new turtle hermit. And Rische would not leave the New Turtle School. But tonight, that wasn't important. He had just had the best fight of his life and nothing could stop the joy that ran through his veins.
Yee-haw! This was going to be the start of something awesome! Yocho flew through the sky as fast as he could back home. Of course, when he got home, his energy was gone and he fell down and fell asleep under the stars. He couldn't wait for tomorrow. And every day after that. For once in his life, he was happy. And as he slept, that's all that really mattered.
"Kame... Hame... Ha!" He moved his hands outwards to expel the ki...
