Deep in the barren Gizzard Wasteland sat a lab, hidden inside of a mountain. Within it lay an elderly looking man, tapping away at a keyboard. The light of the computer screen illuminated his wrinkled face as he neared completion of his newest upgrade.
"By my calculations, tweaking the maximum Ki output of my ocular systems should allow me to fire a much stronger version of my Ocular Lazer. It should allow me to bypass the charge-up period somewhat..."
The computer screen showed multiple different programs running at once, each of them showing some type of calculation being run, or a simulation of some kind being displayed.
Breech typed in one last set of commands before standing up, moving over to the opposite side of the room, where a make-shift firing range had been constructed just recently.
Old, useless tech was set up in such a way that he could shoot at them for target practice. Most of this tech was junk piled together, but there was a few pieces that were decently sturdy.
Standing a fair distance away, Breech began to charge his newly tweaked Ocular Lazer. The room was covered in a dark crimson light as Breech charged up his attack.
A few moments later, the beam shot from his eyes. It sped towards the assorted scrap pile and impacted, causing a spectacular mess of parts to fly in all directions.
Breech let out a satisfactory hmph as he turned and walked back to his computer. As he walked away, a set of small droids with miniature brooms began sweeping up the mess.
He stood in front of a massive computational tower and eyed it with interest. This computer's power was being used to decipher an incredibly complex code that he had found on a data disc. While he had collected most of the necessary information from the disc with his own personal decoding process, he simply didn't have time to break the code on his own.
Breech looked over the information gathered, and a smile crept up his face.
"The Resillium Core...the next piece's location has been deciphered."
The Resillium Core that the doctor was referring to was an old piece of tech created all the way back in 2762. It was supposed to be mass-produced and used in all mechs created by Capsule Corp, but it was deemed too unstable, and the prototype was disassembled. It was not destroyed however, it was simply scattered across the globe. Some of its pieces were given to a few of Capsule Corps higher-ups, while other pieces were given to trusted family members.
He turned away from the computer, walking out of the room entirely and heading for an adjacent room.
This room was a stark contrast to the main room of his laboratory. While the main room was filled with tech in every direction, this room was almost entirely empty. Besides the wires running along the ground and the metallic paneling that lined the walls and floor, the dimly lit dome-shaped room had only one thing in it: The first piece of the Resillium Core.
It was resting on a large work desk made of an aged metal. Breech slowly walked up to the desk and looked down at the Resillium Core piece that he had obtained.
This particular piece was the outer casing. It was originally held by Dr. Beekah's younger brother, Shimu. While Shimu was most recently the leader of a small village, he originally aspired to be a scientist like his brother. Breech and Shimu worked together very briefly, but Shimu eventually decided that scientific endeavors just weren't for him, and he moved out to study martial arts.
It didn't do him much good however, as Breech had ended his life quite easily.
What wasn't as easy however, was dealing with the unforeseen variable that had arrived. Breech encountered a Saiyan on the road named Raisu, and while he didn't succeed in stopping Breech, he certainly proved himself to be creative. He risked his own life to attack the structure of the building they were in, causing it to crumble atop Breech. It was an excellent strategy, and one Breech didn't account for.
He would have to find that Raisu fellow again someday, so he could kill him. Perhaps next time Raisu would be more inclined to listen however, making It possible to turn him into a cyborg.
Doctor Breech grabbed the casing from the table, brought it up to the light, and whispered to himself.
"Soon you shall be complete, and I will become immensely powerful..."
He placed the casing back down on the table, and walked away from the room, the dim lighting flickering out as it no longer felt Breech's presence in the room.
The doctor headed towards the exit of the laboratory. With his upgrade installed, and the location of the next piece of the Resillium Core revealed, it was time to collect what was rightfully his.
The large metallic doors that led outside slid open, and Breech stepped out into the freezing cold.
---
It was late into the night when the lanky Professor Clink awoke with a start. He sat up in his king size bed and scanned the room. Something was off, he could feel it. There was no logical reason to feel this way...but something brought a chill up his spine.
He got up out of bed, wearing his rocket-ship pajamas that looked like they would better suit a toddler rather than a brilliant scientist, and exited his bedroom with apprehensive steps.
Each of his footsteps made the old wooden flooring of his mansion creek menacingly. It was hardly noticeable during the day, but being half-awake made the whole house feel like a nightmare.
Slowly, Clink stepped down the large stairs to the first floor of house. He felt an ominous feeling when he looked towards the kitchen, making him unsure if he should walk in.
He shook the fear from himself, and slowly walked into the kitchen. It was pitch-black, forcing him to fumble around for the light-switch for a few moments.
A soft -click- signified he had found the switch as the light bulb hidden in a ceiling fan illuminated the room.
He sighed in relief as there seemed to be nothing wrong. There were no monsters, no aliens, and certainly no malicious androids.
"Heh, I guess I'm just paranoid..."
As he turned to leave, a mighty explosion blew the farthest wall out. The mansions security system blared in alarm as Clink was knocked to the ground from the force of the explosion.
His vision blurred slightly as he tried to stand. He wasn't sure what was going on, or who had assaulted his home, but whoever they were, they probably wouldn't last long against his automated turret system.
He heard his turrets slide out of their ceiling pocket, and begin to fire on the still unknown assailant.
Bullets ricocheting off of something could be heard, then another explosion. Debris fell from the ceiling, signifying that the turrets had failed in their mission.
Clink's began to sweat profusely due to fear. Whatever had broken into his house was deadly, which meant Clink might meet his end soon.
He felt a cold hand grasp his neck as he was forcefully pulled from the floor.
Clink's eyes filled with absolute dread as he finally saw the intruder: The Infamous Doctor Breech.
"Y-you c-can't be here...y-you're dead!"
Breech released his grip on the professor and spoke in his usual cold tone
"It is quite clear that I am alive, without the flesh. What makes you assume I am dead, Clink?"
Clink scrambled to his feet desperately, speaking with a quivering voice.
"D-Doctor Beekah, your colleague! He told everyone you killed yourself!"
"That's the story he gave everyone ten years ago? Shameful...I'll have to pay him a visit for that...but enough about me, where is your piece of the Resillium Core?"
Clink's eyes widened in a mixture of confusion and despair. How could Breech know what the Resillium Core was, and why would he even need it? Was he building a monster to get revenge on those who shunned him?
The professor seemed to toughen up for a moment, speaking as stoically as he could. "I'm afraid you won't find it here. I wasn't given a piece."
"DON'T LIE TO ME FOOL!" Breech slammed his fist into a nearby wall, punching straight through. "I know you have a piece. You were one of the few who worked on it! Don't think I forgot about that Clink!"
Instantly, Clink's false courage faltered. Breech was an elderly man, how did he punch through that wall?! There was only one explanation, which was that Breech was now an android. Clink wanted to scream in terror at this realization, but he knew it would only get him killed at this point.
"I...it's upstairs...under the closet."
"Thank you for your compliance, Clink. I'll spare you for now."
He walked past Clink, who was frozen in fear. Breech didn't have time to deal with his old colleague at the moment, he had to attain the next piece of the Core first.
The mechanized doctor arrived at the stairs, and opted to simply float up instead. As he floated, his eyes began to blink with a red light, signifying his built-in scouter was scanning the area for signs of irregular metals. It only took a few moments, but on the top floor he could detect the item he was looking for.
He landed softly at the top of the stairwell, walking briskly towards the master bedroom. He punched the door down, launching it across the room and out the window.
He turned his attention to the right, where a small closet lay. With similarly low effort, Breech grabbed the door from its hinges and tossed it to the wayside, peering into the closet to find his object of desire.
"There you are..."
Beneath the floor lay a small safe. Breech smiled as he uprooted the fancy carpet and peered down at the safe. It was heavily fortified, and while deciphering the code would take no time at all, Breech wanted to test himself.
His eyes filled with Crimson light, cloaking the room with a murderous color. Almost instantly, he fired off the Lazer that was charging in his ocular systems. It impacted onto the safe, melting through the metal easily and revealing his treasure.
The doctor reached down and grabbed his prize: The second piece of the Resillium Core. It was a small piece of a puzzle, but each piece was equally important.
As he turned to leave through the window, he heard a click from the doorway.
"You think you can just invade my home and take something that doesn't belong to you?! I might be terrified, but if I let you have that piece of the Core, then I might as well kill myself!"
It was Clink, and he was holding a strange gun. Breech raised an eyebrow at his old colleague as he inched towards him.
"Do you really think you can stop me, Clink? You must know that this won't work."
"Yeah, I know that...but it never hurts to try."
Clink pulled the trigger, and a brilliant flash of green covered the room. A thin beam of emerald energy traveled quickly towards Breech, but it would do no harm. The doctor caught the beam in his hand, stopping it in place.
"I suppose you're right."
With a flick of his wrist, he tossed the emerald energy back at his attacker. Clink let out a terrified yell, but it was cut off by his demise.
The orb impacted on Clink's chest, burning a hole straight through. He fell to the floor, his body still smoldering.
"It's truly a shame to see yet another brilliant mind succumb to the grip of death."
He turned away from the corpse and floated out of the window, Resillium Core piece held firmly in hand...
